When we entered the dining hall, almost all the chairs were occupied.

Damien nodded at the man who sat at the head of the long table.

I raised my eyes and saw the Head of Silverclaw family. He was a man with domineering presence. His head was held high as he watched me head to toe. He had dark black hair like Damien and silver eyes. He was just an older version of Damien. He was most probably in his early forties. How old was Damien? I had no idea. I should ask him after the meal was over.

On his right was a smiling short woman. She had dark hair, a mix between brown and black, and freckles all over her face. The woman beside her gave me a small smile. She had hair as white as snow. Her eyes were golden like fire. She seemed timid. There was another woman on the Head’s left-hand side. She had only one eyes. The other eyelid was sewn shut. So were her lips. I shuddered and gulped down the scream that almost left my mouth.

Damien placed a hand on the small of my back and led me to three empty chairs beside the white-haired woman. He kept the chair next to her empty and took the other chair. He helped me sit down beside him. I could barely see other people in the room. There were many children, all aged between early twenties to ten years old. The Head had three wives and had a lot of children.

“How was your wedding night?” the dark-haired woman asked.

I could not even blush since I was scared of that woman with sewn eyelids and lips.

“It was satisfactory,” Demian said.

“It might as well be. You took my pet from me!” a girl yelled. She had red hair like the scary woman and red eyes.

“Now, now, don’t be sad, sweetheart,” the dark-haired woman said. “Your father will give you another pet. This one belongs to Damien now.”

I felt disgusted. They were talking about me like I was a pet, not a human being.

The door of the dining hall opened and a young woman walked in. She was probably the same age as Damien. She had white hair and silver eyes. She wore a white dress the same color as her skin and bright red lip paint. She was beautiful, like a goddess. Her name was Rose. I had seen her before.

“Am I late?” she murmured as she took the empty seat between Demian and the white-haired woman. That must be Rose’s mother. They looked very much alike. However, Rose did not have any of her mother’s timidness. In fact, her attitude and gestures were more like her father’s.

Breakfast was served. I could barely eat anything even though I ate almost nothing yesterday. The maids forced me to eat soup before the wedding night. Other than that, I ate nothing the whole day. According to my family’s tradition, brides must remain hungry before her marriage. Only after the wedding could she eat.

“She has beautiful body,” the dark-haired woman said. That should be Damien’s mother. If not, then that woman with sewn eyelids and lips would be his mother. “Did you see her breasts? Huge. You must like them, Damien.”

Damien did not say anything.

The woman winked at me. “My son did not like any of the women I sent him. He would always send them back. He must truly like you since he wanted you for himself right after seeing you.”

“I wonder how your ex-fiancé would react. He must have gotten the news,” the Head said. It was the first time I heard him talking. He had a deeper voice than Damien. “What do you think, Sully Silverclaw? How will he react?”

“He will be angry,” I murmured.

“Ah, yes. He will be angry,” he said and threw his head back and laughed. “Very angry, indeed. Very angry.”

“Tell me about you, sweetheart.”I glanced at Dela once more. She was smiling. Her manners were gentle. She called me ‘sweetheart’ and did not act rudely with me. Instead, the moment I came here with my maids, she embraced me in her arms and kissed my cheek. Then we sat down and had tea when she asked about myself.“There is nothing interesting about me, Your Grace,” I answered.“No, no, I am certain there is. Rosalia is so interesting. A charming lady. You are from House Star too. I am certain you are also a very admiring lady with interesting stories,” she said. “Go on. Tell me about your childhood. And do not call me Your Grace. That makes us sound so distant when we are not. Just call me ‘Mother’, won’t you?” She smiled again.I nodded. “Yes, Mother.”There was truly nothing to tell her. She probably knew everything about me by now through an informer.“I am the second oldest daughter and the third child of my parents. I have two brothers, two sisters and a half-sister. My elder s

My subconsciousness picked up on something that my eyes could not see. After having tea, Dela offered to take me on a tour around the estate. I agreed. I woke up in Demian’s (our) bed chamber. Demian was smoking a cigar by the window.“How are you feeling?” he asked.“She is not going to kill me, is she?” I was terrified.“If she wanted to kill you, she would have.”“She… She killed a maid. Decapacitated her… I saw it… Just because she stepped on my train…” Tears started to run down my face. I was shaking. “I…”“Have you truly never seen anything like this before?” Demian asked. He was not concerned at all.I shook my head. “Why would I?”“Why would you? That’s a nice question, darling.” He put out the cigar and walked over to the bed. He sat down beside me and cupped my face. “But that’s not how it works here. You make a mistake, you die. That’s how it works here. It’s better if you get used to it quickly.”“I can’t…”“I was notified when I came back a while ago. One of Mother’s guards carried you here and the maids bathed you. Mother thinks it’s unfortunate what happened and would like to continue the tour when you feel better,” D

Rose wore a white dress with a pearl necklace. Her hair was combed smoothly. They were long and straight, unlike my curly hair. When I was a child, I wanted straight hair like my father’s and Selina’s, my younger sister. Sierra and I looked like our mother. Curly hair and brown skin. Selina was more like our father. Kyle and Jace were a mixture of Mother and Father.Rose sipped her tea and looked at me. She had a cold aura about herself like all her family members, except for Rosalia and Theodore.“I do like your name. Sully. What does it mean?” Rose asked. It was not something I expected her to start the conversation with.“It means making something dirty,” I said, blushing. “When I was very little, I used to throw my small toys or whatever I could get my hands on. That’s why my father named me Sully.”In House Star, children were named after six months of being born. It was because to see their personality and then name them. I found it rather silly. Sully did not seem like a bold one to me. Not at first, at least. But then, I saw the way she talked, the way she sometimes stared at everything and everyone- when she dropped the act, she was a different woman. A woman who was brave. A woman who could make a hard choice in the blink of an eye. A woman who pretended to be weak.Even Sully most probably did not know she was putting up an act. It must come naturally to her. Because when she looked meek and innocent, I was tempted to believe her. When Sully walked, I noticed she walked with a certain sway. Noble women did not walk like that. But Sully walked like she owned the place, like she knew she had the power to make men go crazy for her.It was a small suspicion. However, I still looked into the matter.I was shocked when I found out what my wife used to do. She never lay with any of those men, but she danced for them. She was a feast for their lustful eyes.I was amused. Honestly, for such a noble woman of House Star, Sully was s

He had splatters of blood on his face. I used the sleeve of my nightgown to wipe the blood off his face.“You can drink my blood,” I whispered.“Are you seducing me?” he groaned and took hold of me by the waist. He pulled me towards him and pressed his lips on mine. Was I trying to seduce him? Probably. I wanted him to hold me. I wanted his fangs to pierce my flesh. The feeling was addictive. And I got addicted pretty quickly. He moved his lips against mine slowly, yet with an urgency that he was trying to suppress.“Tell me truthfully, darling,” he said in a rough voice as his lips left mine. “Have you truly never done this with someone before?”I shook my head. “Why would I lie?”“Why? I craved it.When Demian touched me, I could finally the feel the real excitement. It was even better than dancing. After spending some time with Theodore, I took my leave. He walked me to his door. I could perfectly see his limp. It was bad.“We can do it sometimes,” he said. “If you want to, of course. I enjoyed our talk. Whenever you feel lonely, you can come here and we can talk again.”I nodded. “I will do that. Thanks for the tea, Theodore.”“You are welcome. I should be the one thanking you. It had been a long time since we started the tour. I was tired, but also rather thrilled. The estate was beautiful. There were no extra pieces of furniture, only what was necessary. The last place to visit was the library. The library was huge. All the covers of the books were black. They were gorgeous.
