Julian didn’t move. His eyes met Damon Sr. head-on, calm and unfazed. "I don't care who you are," he said, his voice hard as stone. "Your son was causing trouble, so I dealt with him. And if you’re smart, you’ll take him and leave before things get worse."

A low rumble of murmurs echoed through the crowd, jaws were to the floor in disbelief. Eyes darted between Julian and Damon Sr., as if they were witnessing something unreal. No one in the city had the courage to speak to Damon Sr like this, not even the mayor, so who did this person think he was.

No one could believe the audacity of this young man. First, he had the stupidity to lay hands on Damon Coldwell Jr., and now he was speaking to the king of Southport City like he was just another commoner on the street. Threatening him to leave. Did he not know who he was dealing with?

“He’s insane,” Someone whispered in disbelief, “What? He thinks his little bar brawling skills are enough to save him?”

Everyone expected to see Julian finally break and show some fear after seeing the men take out their daggers. However, to everyone's shock, Julian barely spared the men a look, and then returned his gaze towards Damon Coldwell, looking completely unfazed. “Am I supposed to be afraid, or impressed by your men? Cause I'm not.” He said casually.Damon's eyes broadened slightly, he didn't expect that. His gaze looked over Julian with cold calculation. Who is this boy? he wondered. Clearly, this wasn’t just some reckless fool looking to make a name for himself. A mere nobody wouldn’t have the confidence to stand like that, so calm, so sure of himself.People with something to lose are always cowardly But not Julian, he was acting like he was some big short, even better than Damon Coldwell Sr himself. Damon Coldwell Sr. knew power when he saw it.And something about Julian’s stance, the look inhus eyes, his complete disregard for danger, it was familiar. Not just confidence. It was contr

"Even the Blackwood Consortium?" Damon’s voice was filled with shock and fear. The business associate's response hit like a tone of bricks. Not only had the Blackwood Consortium pulled their funds from Coldwell's business group, but they had orchestrated a mass exodus of other investors as well. But that wasn’t the worst of it.There was a reason behind it all: a reason that left Damon Coldwell frozen in place. The Blackwood Empire had done this because he had upset their heir. And the name of that heir was: Julian Blackwood."No!" Damon’s voice was breaking with disbelief, “How is that even possible?” He had never crossed paths with the heir to the blackwood empire before, so how was this even possible?“Dad, what’s going on?” Damon Jr.’s voice trembled, more uncertain than ever. He had never seen his father like this before. The sight of him scared, rattled, and silent, sent a cold jolt of fear down his spine.Onlookers exchanged glances, their eyes wide as they watched Damon Sr. 's

  • The Invisible Heir   A new morning

Julian felt a little lighter this morning, despite everything that was going on. While it wasn’t the first time he’d spent a night with a woman, last night had felt different. More genuine than when he was with Claire, and one of the best nights he’d had, yet.“Hey…” Jasmine murmured, blinking sleepily as she looked at Julian sitting up beside her. Her memory of the events from the night before came rushing back, and her cheeks flushed a soft pink."Hey, morning," Julian replied with a warm smile, his gaze lingering on her as she lay beside him. He couldn’t help but take in how beautiful she looked, the soft morning light accentuating her features. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined being here with Jasmine, someone he had always admired from a distance. She had always been stunning to him, but now, lying next to him, she was more real, more captivating than he ever thought possible.Jasmine shifted slightly, pulling the covers tighter around herself as she sat up. Julian faked a smile, nodding. “Yes, Scarlett. Is she around?” He asked.“Yes, she is. I’m sure Scarlett will be happy to see you, dear. You know, we were wrong to doubt her. We should have trusted her judgment about you.” Clarissa acknowledged. If she had known about Julian sooner, she would have been nicer to him.Julian just nodded weakly, the sudden change in their attitude was disorienting. Gone were the mocking tones, the snide remarks, they were treating him with a level of respect and politeness that was almost jarring.“Why don't you take a seat, dear?”Clarissa stepped closer, her smile never faltering as she took him by the hand and led him to sit down on the plush sofa,“We’re so glad you’re here, Julian. Please, make yourself comfortable.” Lila stood up, her posture overly polite, “Would my favorite brother in law like anything to drink or eat?” She asked, her tone warm, almost too eager to please, as if she were hosting an honored guest rather than someone they’d once dis

Just then, Scarlett came down the stairs from her room and found Julian and the others seated. Landon was still laughing at Julian, throwing out derogatory comments, but she paid him no mind. Her attention was focused on Julian, who dared to come late after she told him to be here in an hour, and that was four hours ago.Clarissa stood up the moment she spotted her daughter. "Scarlett, we've had enough! This marriage needs to end, and it needs to end now. I know he might have told you somethings that made you fall for him, but they were all lies," she declared, her voice sharp with finality. Lila, Scarlett's older sister, joined in. “I second Mom, sis. This whole thing has been a joke from the start. You deserve someone better, someone who can actually offer you a future, not….” She paused, taking in his look as she scowled as if she was looking at something disgusting,” A peasant like him.” Not even the fact that he was dressed in expensive outfits made them see him as less disgust

  • The Invisible Heir   Married on paper

Scarlett started the car's engine and started driving off, then she turned to glance at him, her expression serious. "I’m having a meeting with some people at the office today, and I want you to keep up your role as my fake husband.”Julian’s brow lifted in mild surprise. He didn’t like the sound of that. He’d only agreed to pretend to be her husband in front of her family or Nolan. But now she wanted him to play the part everywhere? Absolutely not. If she was someone else he would be thinking that she was looking for an excuse to keep him around. But this was Scarlett he was dealing with, and although had only met her less than a week ago, he already could tell what type of person she was. She was just as indifferent to him as much as he was.“Thought I was only supposed to play the fake husband part in front of your family and Nolan?” he said, his voice carrying some skepticism.“Well, technically, we are married, so it’s not exactly fake,” Scarlett shot back, giving him a sharp c

Julian stared at Mr. Seth, his eyes narrowing with a coldness. The way the old, pot bellied man was speaking to him was already getting on his nerves. It wasn’t just the words that came out of his mouth, it was the disdain in his voice, the smug superiority oozing from every glance.‘This guy thinks he’s better than me.’ Julian thought to himself. His lips parted, ready to speak and let him know who he was.“.....”But before Julian could say a word, Mr. Seth raised a finger in the air, silencing him like a misbehaving child.“Shh,” Seth said, his grin sharp and mocking. “Don’t speak unless spoken to, boy.” His eyes glinted with amusement as if he'd just delivered the punchline to a hilarious joke.He knew he was being disrespectful, but who could stop him? He walked in with confidence and authority, his presence commanding attention. The meeting room was filled with the most influential figures in the consortium from board members to other key executives, including the President. Blackwood consortium's president was Damien Emerson, a man in his fifties, known for his strategic mind and loyalty to the company. Julian remembered him, because he used to work very close to Julian's family back then. All eyes turned to Julian as he walked around the table and took a seat reserved for the head of the consortium, making it clear who was in charge now. But, his action caught some in the room off guard. They didn't know who he was, so they exchanged puzzled glances, some whispering among themselves, questioning who he was and why he dared to sit in the seat meant for the most powerful person in the room. That seat was reserved for Da

Tate was very calculative, and Julian knew he had to be careful around him. Julian’s expression remained unreadable, but inside, his irritation sharpened. “Redistribute?” he asked, as if he didn't hear him the first time.Dave nodded, “A small adjustment. Nothing drastic. But by allowing select board members to increase their stakes, you’d be demonstrating your commitment to the stability.” His tone was smooth and practiced. “A show of trust, Julian.”A show of trust huh? Julian thought to himself. At this moment, he couldn't trust Dave Tate. A tense silence settled between them.Julian let the silence go on for a little bit longer, he studied Dave, trying to figure out what he was thinking. What was he planning?Well, he didn't need to think too much about it, he could already see the game Dave was playing, disguising a power grab as an act of goodwill. If Julian had to guess, Dave Tate was the one who wanted the shares for himself, so that he can have even more influence in the co

Only when Julian spoke did Dave Tate finally look up from his documents. He had heard Julian walk in, of course. But being the man that he was, he had deliberately chosen to ignore him and make him wait. It was a silent display of power from him, a reminder that when it came to the Blackwood consortium, time moved at his pace and not Julian’s. He might be the heir to the consortium, but that hardly mattered here, especially when he had been away for so long.Slowly moving his gaze away from the documents and looking at Julian, Dave Tate finally acknowledged him, setting the document aside. His expression was casual, unreadable, yet there was an undeniable weight behind his eyes, one that spoke of experience, calculation, and quiet authority."Mr. Blackwood," he said, his tone cool and controlled. "I was wondering when we'd finally meet.”Dave Tate leaned back in his chair, studying Julian for a moment before gesturing to the seat across from him. "Take a seat."Julian gave a little n

  • The Invisible Heir   Reentering his old life

Meanwhile, Julian arrived at the headquarters of the Blackwood Consortium. It was a luxurious skyscraper, towering over the city with its sleek glass exterior reflecting the afternoon sun. The structure had an impressive modern design, with its dark tinted windows. It was a very tall building. Julian took a moment to admire the view. A faint smile made its way to his lips, a part of him was glad he was back here again after being away for so long. The building was one of the tallest and most luxurious buildings, with more than 200 floors and a design that stood as a testament to the sheer power and influence of the Blackwood Consortium. From the moment he stepped foot here, Julian felt a strange sense of belonging, maybe it was because he was stepping back into a world that had always been his. But at the same time, there was also an unease at the pit of his stomach. It scared him, knowing that he wasn’t just returning as an heir. He was stepping into a battlefield. His enemies

Julian stood over the captive, his cold gaze locked onto him, as he was lying on his back, still tied to the chair. There wasn’t a trace of mercy in his expression, only a chilling look and unrelenting determination.Without needing a command, one of the guards stepped forward, gripping the chair and hauling both it and the captive upright. The man gasped, his breathing ragged, his earlier smugness shattered and nowhere to be seen. When the captive realized that his earlier answer didn’t satisfy Julian, he was even more afraid. “That’s all I know!” the captive blurted, shaking his head violently. “I swear! I never met the guy who paid me. Got the job through a middleman. No names, no details, just a target and a payout!” The same person who was acting all tough earlier and claiming he would never break, was now revealing every thing before Julian, hoping that by the end of this, he would he able to save his skin.Julian stood still, his gaze cold as he studied the captive. The shooter had a fearful look for half a second after he heard Julian’s words, but then he chuckled dryly, shaking his head. “Yeah? And what are you gonna do, tough guy? Older you lackeys to beat me until I pass out again?” He tilted his chin up, his smirk resembling that of someone filled with arrogance, despite the fact that he had no control here,“You’re wasting your time. I’m not saying a damn thing. So do what you gotta do.”Julian exhaled audibly, a hint of irritation flashing across his face. He was already getting fed up with this person. He was playing tough, but that wouldn’t last, not with what Julian had planned out for him. One way or another, Julian had to make him speak, and so he needed to shift tactics. Julian’s expression darkened as he shot a look at Nyx. No words were needed from Julian, Nyx already understood the assignment.Without hesitation, she stepped forward and grabbed the man’s hand, twisting it at an unnatural angle. He walked through the warehouse entrance with Nyx and a bunch of armed security personnel following behind him.He made his way into the holding area with Nyx, while the armed men remained outside, securing the perimeter for any danger. If the shooter’s associates, or anyone else, tried to interfere, they’d be ready. Inside there were about five guys dressed in tactical gear, watching over the shooter to make sure he didn't escape.Julian gave a small signal with his fingers, and one of the guards yanked the blindfold off the captives head. The man blinked rapidly, his eyes adjusting to the dim light, before they shifted slowly to stare at Julian and Nyx who stood before him. He wondered if she had made it out safely amidst all the chaos and panic. He answered the call and pressed the phone to his ear.“Hey, Julian,” Scarlett’s voice came through, soft but concerned.“Are you okay?” she asked. “How are you feeling?”Julian couldn’t help but grin, leaning back on his bed. She asked how he was doing. Was she worried about him now? He didn’t expect that. Honestly, Scarlett had always been aloof and cold toward him at first. “Where is he?” the mayor demanded as Julian approached him and Helen. He rose from the stretcher, his face was a mask of anger and determination. “Where is the son of a bitch who dared to shoot me? Bring him to me.”Julian was taken aback by the mayors sudden behavior. All of a sudden he was acting like this? Julian expression remained calm, almost indifferent. “He’s in my custody,” he replied, his voice showing how much he couldn’t care less about the mayor's outburst, “I’ll interrogate him and let you know what I find out.”But Mayor Sullivan frowned after hearing Julian’s words. He glared deep into Julian’s eyes as if trying to scare him into giving up custody of the shooter. The mayor didn’t agree with Julian because he wanted to do the interrogation himself. Actually, he didn’t need to interrogate the shooter because he already knew who had sent him and why. But that wasn’t the point. He wanted to use the shooter to send a message to the organization, letting them know that the
