There was a thunderstorm outside the window.

Clara’s face turned pale, and she suddenly burst into tears as she had a look of hurt and disappointment on her face.

“Jonas, is this the kind of person you think I am?”

Jonas panicked, and he quickly reached out his hands to wipe her tears. “No, Clara, don’t cry. That’s not what I meant. I… My emotions are a mess, and I didn’t express myself correctly. It’s my fault. I didn't mean to wrongly accuse you.”

Clara’s eyes were flushed red, and her tears flowed down like broken pearls.

She did not say a word. She held tightly onto the necklace that she gave Jonas several years ago, and a whimpering cry came out of her throat.
