CHP 8 Behind the sad eyes

Emily turned her head, looked at James in surprise, " What happened to Laura? Why did get into trouble?" Emily asked curiously about what James had say earlier. James touched his mouth, felt sorry for talking too much.

" Forget it, pretend that I never said anything," James said without turning to Emily. Emily pursed her lips, " you can't give me a clue if you don't intend to finish it," she muttered annoyed because now she is more curious.

James chuckled,." you don't need to know, I said forget it!" he blabbed not intending to answer Emily at all. Emily huffed in annoyance and learned her head against the back of the car seat. Soon she fall asleep.

" Emily......" James called without daring to touch her. "we have arrived!?" Emily sat straight up, her face looking a little line up, pressure on the seat belt. James stifled a laugh at Emily's face, causing Emily to examine her face in panic.

"Is there something wrong?" she asked, James shook his head, secretly in his mind admired Emily's very natural beauty.

"Are you going inside?" Emily asked, opening the car door, James nodded, "of course, my job is to escort you," James replied didn't matter to her whether James was coming with her or not .

"Why are you walking behind me?" Emily suddenly stop in her tracks as they were walking down the hospital lobby. "So What?" James asked confused. Emily rolled her eyes, " you're are not my assistant, walk beside me! seeing you walk behind me makes uncomfortable," Emily mumbled as she pulled James's sleeve so James came forward.

James was silent, then followed Emily who resumed her steps. My mother is still in her room, come on! Emily said after asking the administrative staff. James nodded, his eyes unable to escape Emily's mesmerizing movements.

"Do you have a family?" Emily asked causally. James nodded suddenly." Where are they?" Emily asked again, James was silent and thought for a moment but Emily's irritated look made him answered immediately " At the mansion"

Emily stopped her steps, then turned to look at James who in turned also stop immediately in his own steps. " Mansion? " did you mean Specter's Mansion, she asked, her eyes wide. James nodded then cleared his throat softly, guilty for answering Emily's question so honestly.

"Why" Emily asked with a probing look. before James could answer, he was saved by an incoming call on Emily's cell phone, " sorry I have take this call, " Emily said and hurriedly press the answer button.

"Emily Clark!" said Emily in her trademark cheerful tone.

"Ah yes, Doctor Phillip, I'm already at the hospital. Okay, I will be there soon," Emily turned off her cell and ran quickly ahead of James who followed her immediately.

" What's happening?" James asked alarmed. "My mom is going into the operating room now, I have to see her before the surgery starts," Emily answered with hasty steps. James didn't ask anymore questions and just followed Emily in silence.

A few moments later they arrive at the designated room. James waited outside, while Emily quickly entered the room where her mother was lying weakly.

"Mom" Emily slipped between the two nurses and bent to kiss her mother's pale face.

"Don't worry mom, the surgery will go smoothly, I will be waiting outside the operating room," Emily said trying to stop herself from crying. Her mother nodded with trembling lips, her raised to touch Emily's face "Are you okay? How can we afford this surgery? what did you?" asked Emily's brother in a whisper.

Emily smiled a little "Don't worry, I got a job in a rich family's mansion, they are willing to pay my salary in advance, just focus on your surgery, okay?" Emily answered, kissing her mother's hand, then she looked up and nodded at the doctor who was waiting for her.

"Okay, Mrs Clark, we will take you to the operating room," said the doctor then motioned to the nurse to push Emily's mother bed into the operating room.

While calming herself with anxiety, Emily walked after the nurses looking at her mother's pale face. Behind her, James followed with hasty steps.

"You are okay? James asked, looking down at Emily, who was crunching and hugging her knees. Emily looked up, her face pale, "yeah, I was just afraid the surgery would...." she couldn't even finish her sentence.

James sighed, then learned his back against the wall that Emily was also learning on.

"Think positively, it will affect the outcome of your mother's surgery," said James which instantly made Emily looked at him, " Are you always this nice to everyone?" Emily asked off topic.

James shrugged, " I don't know, Am I nice to you?" James asked. Emily snorted and chuckled. "come with me to the cafe, I will treat you a cup of coffee ," Emily said and then got up from the floor and walk ahead of James while patting her ass which might be covered in dust.

"So you think you're going to get pregnant or not?" James asked after a sip of his coffee. Emily sighed, staring at the window blankly, " I don't know," she replied, feeling sad every time she remembers her duty 'work' James was silent.

Emily suddenly remembered something.

"Tell me what happened to Laura?" Emily pointed at him with curious face. James turned his head, " would you like some bread ?" James offered to change the topic. "I don't want bread, I want to hear your story!" Emily insisted.

James sighed, "okay, I don't know where to start....." James said confused. Emily waved her hand, " Start from first time Laura sighed the contact, " Emily interrupted impatiently James smiled a little, amused by the look on Emily's face.

"Well, a few months ago Laura came, just like you, she looked like she needed money to pay for her father's debt, Laura sighed a contract and did her job, but it didn't work because Gabriel refused her....." James started the story.

" She tried several times but it didn't work, Gabriel was not interested in having sex with Laura at all, in stead if giving up, Laura tried even harder. It turned out that her motive was not only to carry out errands but because she began to fall in love with Gabriel who didn't even have an interest in her.....

"Using the opportunity Olivia gave to carry out her duties, Laura continued to approach Gabriel, but luck was not on her side, Olivia heard her confession, you must have already know what happened after that......" said James,but Emily shook her head, " I don't know, what happened?"

Olivia was furious and threatened to contact the money lender who lent the Laura's father money to immediately put Laura's father to jail, Laura was terrified, she cried and begged because her was the only one in the world that she had,"

"Finally Olivia forced Laura to sigh a life time contract with her if Laura wants Olivia to off her father's debt....." James finished his. Emily covered her mouth with her hand, " A life time contract? oh god that's horrible....."

James shrugged, " Don't mess with Olivia, she can look like an angel and a demon at the same time, it's her power to control people's thoughts that finally made Gabriel to agree to her plans, poor Gabriel......" said James, shaking his head. Emily was pensive in her seat. So this was the reason why Laura always had sad eyes.
