Chapter 34:

Sanaya’s P.O.V

It took me a while to realize that the mind-numbing feeling of despair I had felt the first time I’d seen him was completely gone.

Now, looking at that handsome face, those deep blue eyes and that smile, I felt nothing but a slight sense of irritation towards him. Nothing else. It was like, after the initial shock of seeing the face of the man I once love had blown over, I now only felt what I thought I might always feel towards him…annoyance.

“What do you want, Keith?” I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Well, I would to talk but letting me in would be nice.” Keith shifted from one feet to another nervously but the smile was still intact on his face.

“Sana? Who is it-Oh! Keith!” My mother could not have chosen a worse time to check on the door. “Why don’t you come I-”

“No way in hell!” I snapped.

Thank you mother for embarrassing me in front of my boyfriend! However, I was even more embarrassed by the fact that I’d confessed to Keith that I was in love with Lancelin and he had to hear it indirectly rather than directly from me. But maybe Lancelin was trying to save me from embarrassment by pretending to not have noticed my little slip of tongue in front of Keith?“First, we need to drop by ReefWood HQ for a little help and then we’ll be heading off to Sanctium.” Lancelin opened the passenger side door to his car for me and once I was safely buckled in, he went to the driver’s side and got in.“What is Sanctium?” I asked Lancelin. “And where’s Martin?”“Martin had to take the day off.” Lancelin told me sounding a

I watched the path of the red droplets without blinking. Was I supposed to do something? My mind was completely blank, devoid of any thoughts or feelings. My hands and feet seemed glued into place...like pieces of lead. There was something else also trickling down along with the blood. Some things…that did not belong in the window pane.I couldn’t hear anything except for a white noise. My vision blurred. The red becoming hazy before it came into sharp focus.A scream went up in the air, followed by another. And that was when my brain finally kicked into gear.I fiddled with the handle to the car door before swinging it wide open. I almost jumped out, only to be jerked back against the se

She wore large silver hoops in her ears and her makeup looked all natural. She looked like the symbol of purity but now I knew to look beyond the surface, right to the blackness of her heart that no amount of white could conceal.“What is she doing here?” Acelin asked Amber. “Who told her about Lance?”“Bitch has her eyes tainted on Lance twenty four-seven.” Amber sneered. “Probably has eyes inside ReefWood or she might even be the reason why Lance is in the hospital.”But as Asmara neared the c

I refused to look at the man who could hurt me like this. Again! I was once again betrayed by the man I loved!A crash sounded from inside the room and I looked inside despite myself…to find the nurse on the floor, looking disheveled and flustered while Lancelin clutched his chest, panting like he’d run a marathon.“Leave!” His voice was hoarse an

After two days in the hospital where the Lance’s specialist, also a Chrone in one of the Magean tribes, had fed him several dangerous looking liquids to boost up his healing and energy without having to feed, he was discharged to go home and rest well…and do an actual feeding for the sake of his health.Lance looked fine on the outside but he was weaker than normal and his healing was slow. The bullet wound was an angry red spot on his chest that refused to subside and X-rays showed the presence of scar tissues inside his chest as well. Those potions and antidotes could only do so much.“Why don’t you take a shower first and I’ll get dinner ready?” I told him a bit nervously.“Sanaya,” Lance cupped my cheeks. “You don’t

Chapter 40:Lancelin’s P.O.VI had been admired and praised countless time in my five hundred and seventy two years of existence. Several women had named me their idol and worshiped me. Artists have called me their muse and painted and sculpted my images on several streets, several galleries across the world. But nothing brought me the amount of satisfaction as I felt while Sanaya’s eyes travelled up and down my body. She eyed the tattoo of the phoenix I had in my left forearm. Her cheeks turned pink as she watched the water droplets dripping down to my skin and down my abdomen. However, I didn’t like it when her eyes glued on the bullet scar on my chest. The mages at the hospital had forced me to drink several of their elixirs but they could only do so much. Once I’d fed, the healing process will begin naturally. But now that I was with Sanaya, feeding sounded like a derogatory term. Making love&h

Chapter 41:Sanaya’s P.O.VI woke up from my slumber when a ray of sun fell on my eyes.I opened my eyes to find the entire room illuminated with the sun’s rays as Lancelin seemed to have opened the curtains to the windows at the head of his bed. I could hear Lance’s soft breathing from behind me and the heaviness of his arm on my waist was a welcome weight telling me that he was alright.I took a second to look around the room as I snuggled deeper into the covers. The theme might be a dark one but it didn’t appear gloomy. There was a kind of comfort in the darkness. And in the morning light, I could see a pop of colour here and there that I hadn’t noticed before. Like the red roses on a jar on top of a side table or the small painting hanging from the wall of him and Acelin. This was home with not just a roof over his head or a bed to sleep in, but a heart and warmth.“Good morn

Chapter 42:Lancelin’s P.O.V“You called, father?” I entered his chambers after knocking on the huge iron doors.I knew that these doors were not just bulletproof but also spelled by mages against any supernatural attack. My father was paranoid and it wasn’t just because he was the King. He has his fair shares of skeletons in the closet. And that is why Castel Estella is a fortress, surrounded on all sides by extremely capable guards as well as mage barriers.“Ah! There you are!” He answered from his bed, sitting only in a red, velvet night robe, surrounded by several of our scantily clothed human servants. My brother and I were both mirror images of our fathers. And anyone who saw Nathaniel Eustein would notice that immediately. Sometimes people mistook us for one another. He and I had the same dark hair, the same fair complexion, height, built and face cutting. The only differe

The Accidental DateAcelin’s P.O.VMy mother always told me I was never meant for politics. I was too much my father’s son; an artist, a dreamer and a creator. But not a very good politician.Queen Valleria Eustein had tried her best to groom me in her ways, so I could be ready to take the throne in case my younger half-brother, Lancelin Eustein, turned out to be too much like his father. But it was soon realized that it wasn’t necessary. Even though both of Queen Valleria’s sons looked just like our fathers, everything else came from our mother. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.But now, looking at the man sitting opposite to me, I was beginning to feel at a loss for not having my mother’s keen outlook, her sly way of reading people just by looking at their eyes.“So?” He raised a perfectly groomed eyebrow at me, his dark, dark lips tilting up in

Also, since Queen mother Valleria had rushed to get the crown on Lance’s head, the coronation had been super rushed, which meant that a lot of people, including several members of the Dark Council, hadn’t been able to attend. Hence the after-party.“Don’t be a sissy!” Amber scolded. “You’re a vampire now, a part of the immortal world itself and Lancelin’s fiancé. Hold your head high and rock the shit out of this party.”I looked at Amber wide eyed. Why

This was probably the first time in my life that I had asked my older half-brother for his opinions on my clothes and he was quiet enjoying my dilemma. It may not look like it but I’d put a lot of effort into today’s clothes and my appearance. I had dumped my usual dark suits for a steel grey suit jacket and trousers, paired with a sky colored shirt. I had also combed my hair back and skipped the gel. Light colors are supposed to make you more attractive and charming, right?I had also chosen the flowers carefully as well as the gifts and I had made sure that the dinner reservations were up to the mark. Everything had to be perfect

Epilogue:The Dark Council Vault“Thank you for gathering here,” Miaka spoke to the general audience, her brothers and sister, gathered around a round table. The vault was mental and every member was here through their sub-consciousness; but every decision made here was very much conscious. She had been able to create these mental vaults since she was a child and they became very useful as she grew up when she could arrange emergency Dark Council meetings without everyone having to be physically present. She had been influenced by the legend of King Arthur and his round table for his knights while designing the outline for this mental room, in which all the Knights bore equal power. Similarly, all Kings and Queen here were equal, even though they considered her their leader. Each King/Queen was also given a throne to sit on.“We are here today to discuss a pressing issue at our hands.” Miaka looked

Even the gazebo was lit up and there were red velvet drapes all around them to give us privacy. But the biggest surprise was the table set in the middle of the terrace, right in front of the lotus shaped fountain. It has several food items, wine and even champagne and what appeared to be a red velvet cake, all surrounded by fresh plucked roses.“Happy Birthday.” Lance whispered into my ears as he wrapped his arms around me from behind.“Oh my God…” I whispered in surprise. “It’s November 3rd already? Chapter 60:Sanaya’s P.O.VEvery Incubus in the Kingdom mourned the loss of the former King. They were spared the gory details about his advent into darkness and how he wanted to manipulate Mages and other creatures of Shadowland to gain control over other dimensions. It was a unanimous decision by the Queen mother, Lance and Acelin. The people will remember Nathaniel Eustein as a just King who died to save his son from a corrupt mage. He would become a hero and Lancelin could rule proudly as a martyr’s son rather than the son of a traitor. Everything had been calculated carefully to secure Lancelin’s rule and I was in agreement with it no matter how much it hurt to stand in the front line of the grand funeral service that had been arranged for the King.“Sometimes, it’s the best option to grin and bear than to face a revolt. When I noticed that Martin and Nathaniel were focused on each other, I got off the bed and rolled under it, away from their sight. I needed to plan my escape but I had to get away from their line of vision first.“Martin!” Nathaniel spoke a warning, but Martin didn’t loosen his hold.
