Adelaide

I stretch my legs feeling soft sheets under me. Wait… I didn’t fall asleep in a bed. I sit up looking around, I’m in a very large bed, I didn’t fall asleep on here. I hear breathing and frantically look around, there’s a figure on the sofa.

Wade’s the figure, his head rests on the arm of the sofa, his breathing deep and slow in sleep. I quietly slide out of bed, but I’m safe from Samual’s wrath if I’m here, so I tiptoe into Wade’s bathroom.

When I came out Wade’s stirring. His eyes fluttering open before he looks to the bed, not seeing me there he surveyed the room. His eyes soften when he notices me standing in the bathroom doorway. “Good sleep?” he asks groggily, rubbing his eyes.

“Yes, thank you. You?” Samual&rsq

AdelaideI begin to tremble, it wasn’t my fault. I didn’t ask Wade to lie, but I was going to pay for it. “We’re getting to know each other,” I try to reason, a pain shoots through my head, stars burst over my vision as Samual’s punched the base of my skull. “Please,” I plead as I try to get my vision back.“Your brother’s going to feel it ten times worse, see that as your tiny taste.” I turn to him suddenly. My vision swims at the sudden movement. I grab at his sleeve, “Please, no. Give me a few more days, please.” I feel bile rising in my throat and I suddenly wish I hadn’t eaten. Sweat springs over my skin, a cold sheen as I try and keep the nausea at bay.Suddenly the fabric beneath my fingers is wrenched away. Everything swims and the nausea gets worse. “Adelaide, you d

AdelaideA quiet knock on my door brings me back from under the sheets, I don’t know what time it is. “Who is it?” I croak, I clear my throat.“Trey,” a whisper replies. I unlock the door, checking it is him before I let him in. He looks worried. “Dely you must have really pissed Samual off,” Trey says as he locks the door behind him. My heart speeds up and I can no longer breathe, “Is he…?” I don’t want the answer… I don’t want to know.“Del… he can’t take another beating.” Trey swims in front of me as the tears well in my eyes. I run from him into the bathroom clutching at the cold ceramic sink as I begin to hyperventilate. Air’s not going into my lungs. They burn as all I can do is breathe out tiny breaths… I ca

WadeAnger heaves in my chest. She wanted me to mark her. She asked for it and then immediately backtracked? My wolf’s hackles are up, anger I can’t really control burning in my veins that is far more wolf anger than my own. “Oh, I’m sorry… I’m sorry please…” she begs, her voice full of fear, her face contorted in pain. I don’t understand. “I’m sorry don’t tell Samual… please don’t kill my brother.” She drops off the bed onto her knees her hands clasped in front of her, “Please,” she cries, her shoulders shaking, her whole body bent in a form of submission. My anger disappears as rapidly as it came, flowing from me like a plug pulled from a bath. What was she talking about? Tears stream down her face as she continues to beg, I don’t understand. I move around the bed and kneel i

AdelaideThe footsteps stop outside the door and I hear the lock. I’m ready. My heart’s pounding in my head, my claws out… they’re all going to die.The door swings open and who I see renders me in shock. My heart stops, “Daddy?” My fight disappears, my head cocking to the side and my hands fall to my side, claws retracting. “Yes, Darling,” his deep fatherly voice washes me in safety. I blink, No it’s not, I’m imagining things. I rub my eyes. “Darling, my darling girl, it’s me.” His golden eyes holding so much emotion.“Daddy!” I scream and run to him. I leap into his outstretched, arms he holds me up around my waist. “My darling I’ve been trying to find you,” he’s crying, now I’m crying.“It was Samual, he capture

AdelaideThree months later.I’m balancing on the monkey bars stepping between them. I’m getting stronger every day and finally sparring is fun again, I even beat Marc the other day. “Hey, you,” a male voice makes me slip and fall painfully to the ground. I groan as I stand, looking to who spoke, “Trey?” I take a step towards him. Malcom and Gary are standing to one side, they must have been expecting him or he’d have his face in the dirt.“Hey Dely,” I run the few steps to him and wrap my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist“Trey! I thought father killed you.” I hear a cough behind us and look over to Malcom and Gary who have gone red. I sigh and put my legs down.

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 23

WadeWhat if we had met under different circumstances? What if dad hadn’t tried his stupid hair-brained scheme? Has he seriously fucked it up for me? I hate she has every right to reject me.Sitting in the Hunterson sitting room waiting for Adelaide feels very surreal. I’ve spent months ignoring a primal desire so strong it’s been clouding everything. Sleep is a distant memory, in fact the moment the sun comes down has become a time for productivity. I haven’t even admitted to Trey how hard it’s been to not drive to the royal pack lands just to catch a glimpse of her. Just to breathe in her scent to calm the howling, horny wolf. And honestly? Right now…I’m terrified, I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to keep it bottled up and she was furious before, I honestly thought she was going to eat me, and… I’d have partly

AdelaideI wonder why I couldn’t smell him before, now I’m in the same room as him it’s intoxicating. It’s making me want to be near him, I want to touch him. I survey him from the safety of my sofa, he keeps making me almost laugh. Almost. He seems older, taking on Alpha status has changed him, he’s more confident. He isn’t stammering and cracking childish jokes. ′Face it, he’s more attractive now than ever,’ her stupid voice pops into my head. I’m mad at her.‘Shut up, I’ve not forgiven you, you embarrassed me!’‘Ha! You wanted to find out the source of that delicious smell, matches his delectable body, don’t you agree?’ I grumble at her not wanting to agree. However there’s something she said. His scent, I nev

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 25

AdelaideWade is suddenly ripped from my grasp. I jump, all the power I felt from him is gone, I feel normal, but like I’m missing a piece of me. I look over to what’s happened, Trey’s on top of his Alpha pummelling him, his fist flying in such a flurry I can barely see his arms. Wade throws Trey off and pins him to the floor, “What are you doing!” he growls before he punches down breaking Trey’s nose with a sickening crunch.“She’s mine!” Trey roars flipping Wade again and scrabbling to keep him pinned, they continue to wrestle for dominance, Wade defending blows, a look of shock on his face more than anger.I step forward intending to pull one of them away but a heavy hand lands on my shoulder. A calm voice comes from behind me, “Let them figure it out.” My father towering above me, his face calm and peaceful as it often is.“But, they’re going to hurt each other.” I struggle against his grasp, but his hand presses harder on my shoulder keeping me firmly in place.“Wade could stop i

Wade18 months later.I open the double doors seeing Marc sat at the desk within the circular room. “My King,” I state in respect before flopping down on one of the chairs pulling a stack of paperwork towards me that needs attention.I never knew the amount of paperwork that occurred in the palace. It seemed to be never ending.Marc sighs in irritation. “Wade, shut up. Or I’ll start calling you Beta.” He screwed his lips in up pure disgust.I chuckle to Marc. He hates it when I address him formally. He’s only been King for six months and I already piss him off constantly. Of course, it is much to my amusement. “Don’t you have your own office?” he snaps.Oh, he was particularly grumpy today. Excellent.“I just thought you’d want

AdelaideI scream and stumble back. Why is he free? Why is he kneeling like he’s getting a medal or commendation… what the fuck is going on!Wade catches me before I fall to the ground, “Alpha. It’s wonderful to see you!” his smug voice turns my blood cold.“That’s all I need, arrest him,” Father commands from his throne. Instantly guards are around the man, “What?… what’s going on? Alpha?” The man struggles against the two guards clasping shackles around his wrists. Wade begins to shake, his hands clenched in fists as he walks from me. I don’t stop him.Wade turns to the man to look at him “You raped her, you bastard.”The colour drains from his face, “W-Wade… It’s not what you think.”

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 36

AdelaideWade’s been super sweet and caring the last few weeks… I’m starting to want passionate Wade though. My wolf is desperate for him to mark me because then we’ll be able to feel his emotions and he can influence mine. The Doctor said my arm is healed enough so he’s taken the cast off, he’s suggested not to spar or train for at least a few more days. I suppose that’s OK. I overdid it and thought I was at full strength, it was my fault my arm snapped. Wade and father blamed the guard which I felt bad for. I suppose he probably won’t want to spar me again. I’ll have to build up muscle again.I’ve felt vulnerable for long enough I need to get myself back together again. I’ve moped, I’ve been depressed, it’s time to get back to normal. I go to the main kitchen where a few guards are eating. They stop when they see me

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 35

WadeI’m brushing Adelaide’s luscious brown locks. She broke her arm two days ago training for the first time. I nearly tore the head off of the warrior. Normally she should be pretty much healed by now according to Xander… but she fell up the stairs and re-broke the healing bone. So here I am being the best mate in the whole world, helping her get dressed… I’m not complaining. “There you go, darling.” I kiss her temple gently.“Thank you,” she says in her small childlike voice.I miss her strong confident voice, I miss the fire that usually burns inside her. I remind myself though that I just need to be patient. I’m coming to the end of my month here though. I need to go back to my pack and I want to take her with me… but I can’t while she’s still like this. I have no idea how I’m going to break it to her I&r

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 34

WadeAdelaide slept after she admitted what had happened. She didn’t wake up screaming. She didn’t even flinch. She just slept. The doctor set up fluids and nutrients on the second day as we were concerned about her. I didn’t feel it was normal for her to be so lifeless. But Doctor James said her body needed to heal; she had worked herself to the ground. Her body had been under so much stress it had just shut down.I sent Trey back to the pack. Christopher wasn’t happy and frankly… neither was Trey, but my pack couldn’t continue without a leader. He’s my beta after all, in the absence of the Alpha, the beta takes over.I got into some kind of routine over the next few days. During the day I trained with the royal guard, then I observed Xander in his duties hoping to learn how to run a pack well. I wanted to run my pack far better than my father ever had

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 33

JesseI watch as her tears well up in her golden eyes. I’m pretty sure I know what happened. I’ve got a strong suspicion. She’s not been the same, she’s barely wanted to be around me. And someone has terrified her, she screams at certain guards, she runs from others. There’s one thing they have in common, dark hair and scarred in some way.I’m not ready for her tears to disappear and her face turns blank. My brow furrows at her sudden shift in body language. Then she begins to talk in a voice I’ve never heard from her before. It’s monotonous with zero emotion. It doesn’t sound like her voice.“He came into my cell, he told me he was going to show me what a real man was like. He ripped off my pants. He r-r-r-r- sexually assaulted me. I begged him no. He didn’t listen. He liked that it hurt me. Then he left. Until the next

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 32

AdelaideI began climbing up a particularly tall tree. I can see the two guards getting closer, they can’t climb through. I reach the last thick branch and nestle myself safely within a small hollow between two branches and the trunk. Resting my head back against the rough bark, I allow tears to steak down my cheeks. I don’t like people seeing me cry, I don’t like showing weakness. The last three weeks have been hard. It started as dreams and now it’s firmly in my memories. I didn’t realise my family had noticed my behaviour, it was normal for me to train daily… I had just extended the hours a little… OK, a lot. But the more I trained the less I had the energy to remember. Which was how I like it. At least my family has no idea. Wade mentioned sleep talking… but I’m sure it was just mutters that no

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 31

But his innocent wording had moved all the adults in the room.Trey moved to pick up the youngster, he had grown attached to the boy during his time in captivity and wanted to look after him even now he knew he was safe with his family. Christopher allowed ‘his nice man’ to place him on Trey’s hip. Christopher cuddled into him feeling the comfort that he brought. Christopher couldn’t explain it, but Trey brought a comfort that his parents couldn’t give him.Adelaide wiped her eyes, “Can I go train now?” Xander sighed, exasperated with his daughter. He wished she would just accept her pain and go through a healing process. It had been three months, he at least

  • The Imprisoned Princess   Chapter 30

AdelaideI awake to feel the calmest I have in a long time. The most relaxing smell is cocooning me. I try to stretch but realise thick strong arms are holding me tight. Then I notice my back is against a warm hard chest. “How you feeling?” a deep comforting voice washes over me sending chills down my arms. “What happened?”“You fainted, then you had some bad nightmares. Do you remember them?” I shake my head, but I do… I remember every one. I know who’s behind me. And as I accept the fact another wash of calm envelopes me. It feels nice to not fight it. My wolf purrs in contentment at being where she wants to be. “Darling, you were talking in your sleep. Do you remember anything from your nightmare?”I untangle myself from Wade’s grasp sitting on the edge of the bed. A small amount of fear sets i
