“You really must be fucking crazy.” Tapping on her shin with his finger, Haldir smirked and shook his head.

Mory laughed out loud as she lowered her glass to her lap and grasped it with both hands. “Yeah, something like that.”

Haldir took the cup from her and set it on the coffee table. He grabbed her hand then pulled her closer to his lap. “I just got you. You must be crazy if you think I’d just let you go now. I was beginning to think you’d never come along.”

Mory chuckled then bit her lip. “I wasn’t expecting to find someone like you, either. It’s a cruel fucking thing isn’t it?”

Pushing her legs aside, Haldir pulled Mory’s hand until she was sitting up facing him. “No, it’s not cruel. It’s our fate. You don’t have to want my help, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t meant to give it to you anyway. That’s why you’re here Morana, not some fucking television show. It was for me to save you.”

Moving her hair away from her face, Haldir sighed. He didn’t understand what he was dealing with yet, but he’d been in lots of seemingly hopeless situations that turned out alright and he believed it would this time as well. “If I have to keep you locked up tight right here on this couch with my eyes on you 24 hours a day, I will. It’s not like I don’t have the time or the patience.”

Pinching her eyes together tight, Mory curled her lips under. “Oh,” she said softly as she shook her head and clicked her tongue. “This is so fucking unfair. No one’s been bothered with me for years now and here you are just...”

“Ruining all your plans?” Haldir put his hand against Mory’s cheek and pulled her to look him in the eyes.

As he swiped the rough pad of his thumb across her soft lips, Mory pushed them together and nodded. Haldir smiled at the way Mory relaxed with his touch, and he became more convinced he was right about who she was. “I know, I’m really good at that. You may have lost all hope, but I haven’t.”

With her lips close enough to kiss now, Haldir brushed his nose against hers and spoke softly. “It was no accident that you were watching a fucking tv show about lights and bears, Morana. This is meant to be, I know it in my bones. You’re mine, death cannot have you. I won’t allow it.”

As his fingertips traced the soft line of her jaw, Mory closed her eyes while the silent pause before the storm began. The breathless, deafening silence before the waves of passion and fury overwhelm you.

Haldir smiled as he watched Mory relax in his hand. Licking his lips, Haldir moved in and softly pressed his lips to hers.

As Haldir gently sucked in her bottom lip between his, the hand he had on the back of the couch moved to Mory’s thigh.

Somewhere between the deep, wet kisses and rolls of their tongues, Mory slid her hands up Haldir’s arms, finally settling on his shoulders as he gently pushed her back against the arm of the couch with his chest.

Slowly lowering himself between her legs, Haldir slid his hand around her thigh and lifted it up to surround him. As his tongue delicately frolicked with Mory’s, she traced the curve of his tricep with her fingers while her hands gradually made their way to his hair.

Weaving her fingers through his soft blonde hair, Mory’s hips rose to meet the hot body above it. Haldir released her from his mouth’s embrace then as he panted against her face, he whispered, “I can’t be without you Morana. Stay with me.”

Mory nodded as she looked into his eyes. “As long as you have me back to the Inn at a respectable time. I have a lot of work to do tomorrow.”

As he slid his fingertips softly across her cheek, Haldir rubbed his nose against hers. “I promise.”

Mory wanted to believe Haldir when he said he would save her, and for tonight, she would pretend that it was true. She’d never been with a man who cared for her the way he did tonight. If she had only a handful of nights left on Earth, she wanted to spend them just like this.

Pushing himself to his knees, Haldir took Mory’s hands and pulled her along with him as he stood. Keeping her hand in his as he led her to the bed, Haldir shut off the bright overhead industrial light that hung in the kitchen. But the bright light of the moon and the orange glow from the cast iron stove in the corner by the bed lit up the room well enough.

Haldir released Mory’s hand then pulled back the blanket. His scent filled the warm space around the bed as he grabbed the hem of his shirt and pulled it up over his head. Seeing the scars on his back, Mory gasped softly and put her fingertips to the longest and deepest, making Haldir flinch. “What the hell happened to you?”

Haldir looked back over his shoulder. “I can’t die, but I still bleed like everyone else does.”

Mory traced the thick ugly scar then stepped closer and kissed it. As she licked away the salt left behind from his skin,  Mory slid her hands down to his waist. “How did you get that one?”

Haldir smirked and turned around to face her then encircled her waist in his arms. “I was looting a village on the mainland. The man who’s house I was ransacking didn’t like it much, so he tossed a hatchet at me.”

Mory pushed her hands slowly up Haldir’s firm abdomen until they reached his chest. “Ah! So you were a bad boy?”

Haldir’s fingers found the border of her soft, fuzzy sweater and hooked themselves underneath it. “Mmm-hmm.” Pulling the sweater over Mory’s head, Haldir threw it on the floor then looked down over her breasts tucked into her black silken bra. As the fire rose in his chest and out through his arms, Haldir placed his fingertips on her collarbone then slid them down the soft curve.

Mory reached behind her to unclasp her bra, but Haldir shook his head. “No. Don’t do that. I’ve been waiting a long time for this. You’re my present to unwrap. I won’t be cheated of it.”

Mory pulled her brows down as she looked up at him while he studied her body. “What are you talking about? We just met.”

Haldir walked around Mory slowly as he dragged his fingertips along her skin while he moved. “I told you, this was meant to be. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, Morana.”

As the goosebumps erupted all over Mory from the tingle of his touch, Mory said, “I should probably be creeped out by that statement, but under the circumstances, I’m going to let that slide.”

When his hot skin touched her back, Haldir placed a soft kiss on the soft crook of her neck making her knees buckle underneath her. Catching her in his arm, Haldir breathed in her ear. “Where do you think you’re going?”

The room spun before Mory as she struggled to regain her senses. “What’s happening?”

Haldir rubbed his lips up and down the curve of the back of her neck. “I wasn’t sure until I touched your hand in the diner, but I know without any fucking doubt who you are now. I can feel it everywhere. Every cell in my body wants you. Can’t you feel it Morana?”

Mory sniffed back the tears starting to run down her cheeks. “I feel like…I feel like I’m on a rollercoaster. You know that part where you freefall and your hands and feet get that ache in them but you can’t move and you can’t breathe.”

As he pushed her snow pants down over her hips, Haldir breathed into her ear. “I promise this will be better than any fucking rollercoaster you’ve ever been on.”

Shimmying off her pants, she kicked them to the floor beside her and waited with baited breath as Haldir teased her. He fingered her silken bra until his hands met at the clasp then he twisted it open. Her breasts bounced free of it as Haldir slid her bra down her shoulders while he kissed the space behind her earlobe. “Lay down.”

Mory glanced behind her as she heard Haldir pull down his zipper.

With trembling hands she climbed into the bed. The sheets warmed by the stove were like a warm bath against her back. In the dim light of the room, Mory could see the outline of Haldir’s naked form as he put his knee into the bed then crawled towards her. Pushing her thighs apart, Haldir bit her inner thigh firmly before licking slowly upwards.

Mory licked her parched lips as if she were mentally giving Haldir’s tongue directions. As he came to her mound, Haldir rubbed his fingertips gently over her silk panties as he rested his head against her thigh. His hot breath against her sex made Mory’s entire body throb like she was being chased by a wild animal through the woods.

Hooking his finger under the leg seam of her panties, Haldir grabbed at the front with his curled lips, tugging at her clit and making her hiss. Securing it with his teeth, Haldir slid back and pulled the panties off with him.

Throwing them to the floor, Haldir raised up on his knees and looked over Mory bathed in the light of the moon. Her amber eyes glowed like two small fires in his bed.

Taking her leg in his arm, Haldir bent down and placed it over his shoulder as her explored her pussy with his tongue. He lapped up her sweetness as he slowly entered her and curled his tongue against her fleshy bundle as his middle finger teased her clit.

As Mory whimpered and moaned at the head of the bed, Haldir tugged at her lips before he finally sucked in her clit between his lips and kissed it gently like he did her mouth on the couch.

When she finally began to quiver and writhe around the bed, Haldir kissed her thigh before climbing up to her body. Stopping to worship her breasts, Haldir took one softly in his hand as he sucked the other. Mory slid her fingers into his soft hair as her heart pounded against his cheek.

When Haldir’s hand dug into the mattress beside her, Mory grabbed his arm for leverage as he rubbed himself in the wetness between her legs. As his parted lips pressed against her forehead, Haldir groaned when his swollen tip found its way inside Mory.

Gritting her teeth together and digging her fingers into his bicep, Mory grunted while his throbbing manhood stretched her. He inhaled in a ragged breath through his nose then breathed out against her face. “Did I deliver?”

Mory panted against his mouth, “Not yet.”

“Ah!” Mory moaned as Haldir thrust into her again. Looking down into her face as his lips grazed it with every thrust, Haldir caught glimpses of her pleasure and pain as she bounced in and out of the light that beamed through the window.

Each thrust felt like it would break Mory then the next felt like it would save her. She knew that whatever tomorrow brought her, it didn’t matter anymore. If this was the last thing she ever experienced, she was thankful to whatever force had brought the two of them together that night.

As he neared the end, Haldir ripped the pillows from under Mory and tossed them across the bed. He placed his elbows above her shoulders for leverage then finally delivered the brutal, quick pounding she wanted. As her hips were driven deep into the mattress with each plunge inside her, Mory’s eyes fluttered closed and silent gasps fell from her lips until she finally cried out his name.

While she shuddered underneath him, the Immortal sunk into Mory’s neck and claimed his mate. “Mine!”

"Not too bad. Those kids have a lot to learn, but nothing me and the boys can't handle Chief."Taking a bottle of whiskey from the drawer of his dark oak desk, James raised his eyebrows to Mory then took out two glasses.
