As her shadow mimicked her long quick strides, Runa looked towards the rising sun, awash with relief and triumph while she continued on her quest to find high ground. She had to return to Ciaran, had to warn him and everyone of the imminent danger on her heels. Only one problem stood in front of her, she had no clue as to where she was and she was not sure if she could mind link him from a long distance. The slush of half melted snow was indication enough that she was not too far south, though far enough away from the foot of snow that blanketed Ciaran's territory, she felt uncomfortable. Her nose picked up the scent of humans about ten miles east of her, she quickly changed her course with the hopes that someone could tell her where she was.

As she found the small town, she kept to the shadows as she crept around back alley ways in search of something to cover her body with when she shifted back. She was in luck. She spotted a dirty blanket with moth holes in it hanging

A single tear rolled down her cheek. Would he be safe? Would this female that was so kind to her be in danger of the Queen's wrath? How would they get back home safely? With each passing thought a new question developed, rolling through her mind. Runa composed herself quickly before bringing the borrowed phone back into the dining area. "Thank you for letting me use your phone. I think I'm going to go lay down. Suddenly I'm feeling exhausted to the point of passing out." She tried for a smile, not sure if it was very convincing though when Stephanie smiled up at her she was relieved. "Ok dear. You've had a rough time your adrenaline is wearing off. Go get you some rest, Hun." She said as she took her phone from Runa's hand and made a shooing motion at her to go lay down. Back in the pale yellow room, she flopped on the bed. Rolling over to stare at the popcorn ceiling with the fan placed in the center, it's leaf blades spinning and wobbling slightly. A deep audib

"We're being followed." Jake's voice broke the silence in the car after an hour on the road. Runa stiffened in her seat, her heart beginning to race, threatening to leap out of her chest. "I know."Ciaran replied before shifting gears and straining the engine to fly faster down the blacktop. "Can you tell who it is?" Runa questioned with the overwhelming urge to look behind her, only she was frozen in fear. "Not sure. Could be the local pack making sure we don't cause any trouble. The scent of another alpha in your territory isn't always welcome." Ciaran's words did little to reassure her, though she did shift her eyes between each window, straining her vision for any sign of someone just beyond the shadows of the highway. The hair on the back of Runa's neck and arms stood up as a cool draft blew through the back seat. Reflexively, she rubbed her arms as she wrapped them around her. Fear gripped her as she saw a flash

Ciaran's eyes were locked onto Runa's face as she began to stir. She rubbed her eyes and tried to sit up, his hand on her shoulder held her in place and sent another jolt of fear rushing through her making her heart race. "Shhh. You're alright but it would not be wise to sit up, sweetling. You shredded your cloths." He whispered to her and felt the tension release her muscles as she resettled herself in his lap. "Where are we?" She asked groggily. "Another hour away." Jake answered from behind the steering wheel. "How long was I out?" She turned her eyes upward to find Ciaran's dark orbs. "Roughly five hours." He replied, still stroking her hair resting against his leg. She tried to stretch in the small space of the back seat, folding her arms under her head as she arched her back listening to a few of her vertebrae pop. Her legs were starting to cramp curled under her. "Close your eyes.

The pack house was rather large, though with so many huge male bodies standing around there was very little room to move, not that Runa wanted to be anywhere else other than by Ciaran's side. His pack had more people in it than the usual hundred or so. There were more than a thousand bodies that filled the large lobby and over flowing out onto the patio. They all turned their attention towards their Alpha. Ciaran stood tall, confident with an aura of authority surrounding him as he prepared himself for what was to come, his speech and his confession to his pack with the hopes of their understanding. He took a deep, steady breath and let it out on a sigh as he cleared his throat, giving Runa's hand a slight squeeze and stepped forward to face his pack. "I'm sure all of you are wondering why I called for an emergency meeting in the middle of the night. There has been new developments over the past few days and as everyone knows, I have been out of the territory in search of

Ciaran stepped out of the shower, steam filled the room. He tried to rub the left over tension knotting the muscles at the back of his neck that the shower had no affect on. He had a bad feeling twisting his gut after that phone call with Alpha Mike. It would seem there are more packs against them than willing to help. He grabbed a dry hand towel and wiped off a small area of his mirror to get rid of his five o'clock shadow. A soft knock interrupted him half way through causing him to cut his cheek when he jumped. "Shit." He cursed quietly. "Who is it?" He yelled towards the door. "Runa. Are you busy?" Her voice was muffled through the door, though the soft sweetness in her tone had a lasting effect on him. He opened the door to get a blast of air filled with her scent. He inhaled deeply, closing his eyes as he enjoyed the aroma. His eyes shot open when she cleared her throat. She was shielding her eyes from him, when he looked down he knew why and a grin sprea

Runa quickly dressed after she ran up the stairs causing a few females to scream in surprise at the huge wolf nearly barreling into them. As she came out of Ciaran's room, the hall was vacant. She strained her ears, trying desperately to hear anything. Everything was silent, eeriely so. She slowly made her way down to the foyer. Still, no one in sight. She made her way to Ciaran's office. Her nose picked up on several scents just behind the oak door. Pressing her ear against it, she could hear whispering."I got word from a friend I made on my travels. The Grey Mountain Pack I do believe, then again I could be wrong. I don't keep up with the pack's names and borders. I was surprised to hear that a hybrid was not only in a pack but possibly the mate to the alpha! Now I find out not only is it true, but you are also a hybrid. So, I've decided to help a fellow hybrid out. You're welcome." Sarcasm laced those two little words. Vicky was making it harder and harder to trust or e

Ciaran watched as Runa's skin slowly knitted it's self back together. The wound at her neck almost completely healed while her chest and abdomen had barely begun, the flow of blood had ceased however. As soon as he had gotten her onto a clean bed he had scored his wrist to let his blood flow past her lips, hoping his blood would speed her healing. She had just been wheeled in from surgery and looked horrible. IV tubes ran from morphine bags and bags of O negative to her well toned arms. Her hair and skin pale in comparison to her healthy glow. The endotracheal tube that had been stuck down her throat was working properly to aid her labored breathing, however. Zane had certainly done a number on her mid-section, nearly spilling her organs. If she had not killed him, Ciaran would have, only he would have made it torture. "Alpha?" The pack doctor cleared her throat."What." He grumbled aggressively then cleared his throat, ran a shaky hand over his tir

A year and a half later. So much has changed in the pack in the previous year. Runa had really stepped into her roll as Luna. She broke ground on a new playground for the children. She had drawn out plans to build onto the hospital to make room for better equipment and technology so more tests could be run with sooner results. Runa would not let Ciaran know, but she had been quite concerned about her health lately and was growing curious to know more about her hybrid blood. Ruby had informed her on what medical machinery would surrender understandable results, and she would leave a note on Ciaran's desk. She and Ciaran had another scare, no to long ago. They almost did not make it. If not for Ruby's extensive knowledge about modern medicine, they both would have died just from a walk through the woods around the territory. They had had a run in with some hunters, she had been shot five times and he was shot seven. The blood loss they both sustained was critical. So, Runa and Ruby h

The pack heard the roar and raced through the yard when no one could find the Alpha or Luna. Everyone followed the sound of battle and found their leaders out numbered twenty to one. Jackie was the first to shift and jump in the fight as she saw Runa take a heavy blow to the head from a vampire who had picked up a fallen tree limb to use as a bat. It did not take the rest of the pack long before they were all shifting to save their Alpha and Luna. Hisses and growls filled the night and silenced the crickets and critters. Tristan let out another monstrous roar before jumping into the night sky, vanishing though not completely. The sound of his wings helped to pinpoint his location. Though with so many fighting on the ground, it was still quite a challenge. Runa regained her senses just in the knick of time to dodge another swing of the makeshift bat. Her eyes caught sight of a wing flap as Tristan crossed the moon's glowing surface, he planned to dive into the fight. Tristan tucked

The following day was hard on the pack as a whole, having lost many good members of the pack. Family and friends gathered around the funeral pier, each holding a candle stick. As each person walked up to pay their last respects to the dead, Ciaran and Runa stood tall in front of everyone. "We've lost many in our battle. Each one a valued member of the Blood Moon pack. May the moon goddess shine your path into the eternal light at her side in the heavens." Ciaran's voice was husky with emotion as he raised his hands towards the rest of the pack members. "If anyone wishes to say anything about our bravely fallen brothers and sisters please step forward and speak now." No one stepped forward. Every pack member was either holding someone else or being held themselves. Grief, loss, two emotions not so easily to work through even for those who have lost so many. Empathy was shown to many around the clearing, as was love and loyalty. "Families of the fallen, please

Ciaran ducked, dodged, and leaped over fallen bodies, both wolf and vampire, as he slew his own victims in his search for the true prize. The one they were all looking for to end this war. The Queen. He could hear the thunder of her wing beats. Could sense her deadly presence, but not her exact location. He continued to shred through the pale and blood red of the undead. Soon he realized the vampires were not alone.Alpha Tobias and his pack sounded their war cry with a deep long howl as they arrived upon the scene. The one eyed alpha was running head on towards Ciaran. His blonde wolf collided with Ciaran's pure white beast. Guttural growls erupted as teeth gnashed and powerful paws slashed at each other. Tobias locked his jaws around Ciaran's shoulder and shook viciously, dislocating it from its socket. Ciaran ignored the pain in his shoulder as he twisted out of his jaws and snapped his own around the back of Tobias's neck, over his spine. Ciaran jerked straight as he st

Early the next morning, around three a.m., Runa woke from her nightmare of the night she mutilated her best friend. Images of teeth ripping open flesh and tearing away bones still painted her mind in vivid color. Suddenly the days events flooded back to her, Jackie was on her mind. "I have to go to her! I have to explain what happened." Runa was in hysterics as she bolted upright in the bed, startling Ciaran out of his slumber. "What is it?" He said, sleepily. "I have to go talk to Ms. Jackie. She has to know what happened." Runa replied as she jumped out of the bed. "Give her time. You don't need to stress your self this way. There is always another day to talk to her. She's part of our pack now. Besides, it's three o'clock in the morning." Ciaran reached for her, trying to hold her close. She pushed him away."You don't understand! She was the mother I wished for myself. The mother I didn't have. And I killed her only child. The only family she ha

"Why do I feel like we're going to become lab rats for out own pack?" Runa asked after she and Ciaran stepped out of the shower after their little scare before the ritual. "Let's hope it does not end as badly as you make it sound." He was pulling a white button down shirt around his shoulders to lay flat over his white slacks, while she slipped into a golden red gown with a slit that revealed her hip if she stood just right."Is there anything else I can wear? I feel just a little bit exposed." She fiddled with the plunging neckline of her dress trying to close the gap as much she could with little success around her bust."I think you look gorgeous." He stepped up behind her, the buttons on his shirt forgotten as the two halves fell open around her while his hands found themselves at her waist and he pressed his lips tenderly to her neck."I never did like these ceremonial traditions. To formal for me." She confessed."Me neither but think of it this way,

"Ok, around about how many people are we going to be cooking for?" Sascha asked as she bounced the toddler sitting in her lap."An army." Runa replied with a grin. "There is maybe a hundred and sixty, hundred and seventy people in my old pack and, what, three hundred here?""Three-seventy five, actually." "So yeah an army." Runa giggled again and made a funny face at the little girl playing peak-a-boo around the back of the stool Sascha sat in, absently rubbing her belly. "We certainly have our work cut out for us, don't we?" Sascha smiled, as she rubbed her nose to the toddler's in her lap. "Yep." Runa popped the 'p'. "Wonderful thing we have these two little rascals to help taste test everything." Sascha said and the children's faces lite up with excitement. "I want first bite!" the little girl behind the chair piped up, raising her arm as far in the air as she could reach. With a smile on her face, sadness filled Runa's heart. She was al
