I stepped into my bedroom and went straight for the shower. After I dropped Selene off at her room I came straight home to rest. That beautiful hybrid has my nerves and thoughts all over the place and it drives me crazy, the good kind mostly but every now and again the bad kind. I stood in the shower letting the water run down my body, washing away almost every stressful thing from my mind. I washed up and got out. Once I had some pants on, I started looking for the nicest suit I owned for the ball tomorrow night; I’m Selene’s fiance and that means that I need to make a good impression, which I planned to do. I’m not about to embarrass her. Picking a traditional black suit, I placed it on the hook on the outside of my closet and grabbed a pair of dress shoes, placed them in the chair right next to the closet, then climbed into bed and dozed off thinking about Selene.
I woke up around six when my father knocked and came into my room, “Hello, son, are you about to get ready for the ball?” He asked, I groaned and threw the blankets off of me, sitting up as I sat on the edge of the bed.
“Yeah,” I answered, “I’m still in shock of everything that happened yesterday.” He nodded and smiled as he went for the dresser where I kept my ties. He pulled out the dark red colored one and set it beside my shoes, along with a pair of black socks, then turned back to me,
“Phoenix, you went from gone for years, to engaged within a night of you being home.” I thought while he said this, “You have a right to be stressed out.”
“Didn’t exactly help that you and Nick didn’t tell me or Selene about any of it,” I stated, “especially it was our union you two were planning.” He shrugged and smiled,
“Can you blame me?” He asked, “I’m getting old, Phoenix, and once I’m gone, the covens and everything about our world falls on your shoulders. I just wanted to make it easier on you. Besides, Nick has been wanting an alliance with us for a while, this just adds extra security.” I gave him a look, but not much else. Dad gave me a weak smile as he went to the door to leave, “I love you, Phoenix. And your mother would be very proud of you.” I smiled then looked at him,
“I love you too.” With that, he left me to get dressed.
I laced my shoes up then went to the mirror to fight with the tie. It was a death trap but I was going to wear it, no matter what. To my surprise, I managed to tie it; I sprayed a bit of cologne then put my jacket on, fixed the cuff of my sleeve, then took a look at myself in the mirror. I slicked my red hair back and did a final check, “Not too shabby.” I said to myself. Grabbing Selene’s birthday present, I headed towards the castle.
Guests were arriving already, I walked in with my father and the precursor announced our arrival. Aiday and Nick came up to us, shaking our hands, “Welcome, we’re so happy you were able to attend!” Nick said; father and I bowed to them, Aiday leaned closer to me,
“Selene is almost ready, you’ll meet her at the bottom of the stairs for the first dance.” I nodded,
“Thank you, your majesty.” She nodded, “And may I just say that you look beautiful tonight; I see where my bride gets her ravishing beauty.” Aiday smiled and blushed at my comment, then turned to my father,
“Mr. Mackenzie, you’ve taught your son well. He is quite the charmer.” Dad chuckled while patting my back,
“He gets it from his mother; she was the social butterfly in our relationship.” Aiday nodded,
“May the late Mistress rest in peace.” She said; father nodded his thanks, then turned to me,
“Go wait for your bride; I’ll stay here and talk to the in-laws for a while.” I nodded then bowed to Aiday and Nick before walking over to the stairs.
After a little bit, Amber and Chris walked down the stairs together, Amber smiled and hugged me, “Welcome home, Phoenix.” Amber told me, I smiled,
“Thank you, and congratulations to the two of you. You look great together.” Amber smiled and clutched Chris' arm,
“I hear congratulations are in order for you as well.” Chis says while he shook my hand, “Marrying my cousin, are you asking for a death wish?” I chuckled, shaking my head,
“Not at all.” I replied. Truth was, I’ve loved Selene, but after losing my mother and moving away, I didn’t think I’d want to be with someone. Everything changed the second I saw her; Selene was kind of nerdy and awkward, but in the most adorable way and the moment I saw her in the garden...my heart nearly lept out of my chest. I was brought out of my thoughts when the precursor began an announcement,
“Ladies and gentlemen, may I present, her highness, Princess Selene Serkan.” The double doors opened and there she was, stepping into the ballroom; my heart nearly stopped beating the second I saw Selene. The dress she wore was a ballgown style, strapless; I smirked when I noticed the color and saw my dad amongst the crowd and nodded to him, he just smiled as we all watched Selene come down the stairs. When she was close enough, I extended my hand for hers and she took it with a giant smile on her face. I bowed and kissed her hand, and to my delight, she was wearing her engagement ring. I then escorted her to the dancefloor just as the music began, I smiled, realizing the song, and the look on Selenes’ face said that she knew it too.
“Could it be, you and I, never imagined,” I started singing to her, making her blush,
“Could it be, suddenly, I’m falling for you,” She sang along; we sang the song to each other; I twirled her and dipped her lightly the second the song came to an end and kissed her gently; the crowd of people clapped their hands and soon joined in on the dance.
After a while of dancing, I pulled Selene off to the side and handed her a box, “What’s this?” She asked, I smiled,
“A birthday present.” I told her, she smiled and opened the box,
“You didn’t have to get me anything.” I chuckled; her hand went straight to her mouth when she saw the necklace in the box, with a sapphire embedded in it, “Phoenix...this is gorgeous.” She said; I took it out of the box and she turned around. I placed the necklace on her and she turned back to me; it hung right at her heart,
“You’re so beautiful.” I told her, leaning in for a sweet kiss.
Before long, we heard screaming and everyone shouting. The crowds of people running towards the door; Amber, Chris and the others ran to us, “What’s happening?” I asked, Amber had terror all over her face.
“Our grandmother.” She said, looking at Selene, her face reading pure terror as well, “She’s escaped.” Selene started running towards her parents. Dad grabbed my arm,
“Phoenix, you need to get as many people that you can out of here. Most importantly, you need to get Selene out of here.” I nodded and turned to Amber,
“Can you get whoever you can out? I need to get Selene; we’ll meet at the Old Samuels house, it’s five miles away. Go by foot, get anything you can, clothes, food, anything.” Amber nods as I run off to find Selene. But it didn’t take me long when I saw her standing over her mother,
“Mom!” She screamed; I ran to her, she was crying “Mom!” Selene was shaking Aiday’s lifeless body; I couldn’t bring myself to pull her away but I needed to get her out of here. I heard a shout of pain and saw Nick collapse to the ground; I run over to him, he clutched my hand,
“Protect...protect her...she’s our only hope now…” The grip he had on me loosened to nothing as all the life in his eyes left his body. I ran back to Selene and started pulling her,
“We have to go!” I told her sternly,
“Dad! Where is he?” She asked, but the look on my face gave her her answer. I pulled her away but before we made it out of the ballroom a woman stopped in front of us,
“You must be Selene, my, my, you look just like your whore of a mother.” She said to Selene,
“How dare you speak to her!” I snapped, the woman looked to me,
“I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure, Mara Serkan, Queen of the Vampires.”
“You’re NOT the queen! My mother was, and you killed her.” Selene snapped, I could feel a powerful energy coming off of her,
“Same uncontrollable tongue, I see.” She stated, “Now then, should I kill you slowly or perhaps have mercy and make it a quick death?” I stood in front of Selene,
“I’ve already killed your family, Selene, why not join them?” Within a second, I was shoved behind Selene, her hand clasped around Mara’s throat.
“Shut the hell up, you fucking bitch!” Selene screamed at her, the energy around her growing darker,
“Hmm, you have purple eyes…” Selene tightened her grip,
“I said to shut the fuck up!” I needed to do something; Selene was blinded by her anger that she didn’t see the people that began to surround us. I grabbed Selene’s arm and she released Mara, which allowed me to warp us somewhere else before anything more could happen.
I sat on the ground while Phoenix paced around, I was in shock of everything that just happened. My parents...they’re dead. I held myself, but I felt something running on my hands, I looked down, blood. My mothers’ blood. “Hey,” Phoenix said softly, taking my hands in his, “it’s okay. I swear to you, that woman will pay for what she’s done.” I nodded my head, “Now then, if you’re ready, I’m going to warp us to the house with the others, okay?” I nodded; Phoenix pulled me up and we warped to the meeting place. We walked up the stairs, but Phoenix stopped, “I’m going to place a protection charm around the house, I’ll be a few minutes. Go on in and I’ll be right there.” I nodded and went inside the house. I looked around the old house, the floors creaking with every step. “Amber?” I whispered, “Chris?”
I opened the door to see Selene sleeping; she’s been through so much in one day, we all have. There was a small tap on my shoulder, turning my head, I saw Amber standing behind me; closing the door quietly, I turned to talk to her, “We’re ready to go.” She said then looked at the door, “How is she?” I looked at the door then turned back to Amber, “She’s strong, but she’s gone through so much so fast. I don’t remember her being like this when we were children; back then, she was so skittish, it was so cute.” Amber smiled lightly, “Phoenix, she’s grown up, she’s not that same little girl anymore.” I nodded, I knew she was right, but that’s what worried me. Selene is strong, I knew that, but she’s the same strong my mother was and even that much strength can’t help you during the trying times; for my mother, it was when she delivered my sister, they
I was sitting in Ambers’ room at her vanity; she heard that Phoenix and I were getting married tonight and insisted that we were going to be married the right way, and Katherine agreed. Katherine and her daughters came in wearing long dresses and had bouquets in hand, “Here we are,” Katherine said as she laid a dress on the bed, “A gentleman came here months ago, asking me to mend this for his daughters’ wedding, needless to say, the union was cancelled and the dress was never retrieved.” She told me; I went over to it and looked it over. It was a simple dress, similar to my dress at the ball but was even more elegant and beautiful, “It’s perfect.” I said, “We have a dress for you too, Amber.” Fiona said as she handed it to her, “Thank you, it’s lovely.” Amber told them, “I need to get her ready and t
The attackers bound my wrists and ankles; Phoenix was yelling at them. Greg was on top of me, foundling me; tears were pouring from my eyes, “Oh my, my dear princess, are you a virgin?” He asked me, I didn’t answer him, he nodded to Nathen who punched Phoenix in the face, I screamed, Greg then grabbed my face, “Answer the damn question!” I nodded slowly, “Don’t hurt him,” I begged, “Please.” Greg smirked, going for my underwear, removing it quickly, “Well then, let’s fix that.” I cried more, “Don’t touch her!” Phoenix yelled; Greg got off of me and started undoing his pants. I fought against the restraints, hard. Nathen punched him again, “NO!” I screamed; Greg got back on top of me and slammed into me hard. Shock, surprise, call it what you will, I didn’t know
We walked towards my grandfathers’ home, a literal castle, nearly as grand as the one count dracula was said to have. There were guards, servants, everything you could think of. One of the guards stopped us, “Hault, state your business.” I stepped toward him, “I am Phoenix Mackenzie, grandson of Lord Fredrick Martens.” I replied, “I am accompanied by my wife, Queen Selene Summer Serkan Mackenzie, and her cousins. We seek refuge and an audience with his grace.” The guard gave us a look then turned to one of the other guards, they spoke for a minute and then, “Alright, someone will meet you at the door to escort you to Lord Martens.” I nodded, “Thank you.” I told him as the gates opened and we all went inside. As the guard said, there was someone waiting for us, a woman,
I laid in the bedroom while studying Phoenixs’ old school books. I practiced a few small spells and while trying a light spell but next thing I knew...boom! Phoenix opened the door and coughed from the smoke, “Selene, what are you doing?” He coughed out, I looked at him from my spot on the bed; when the smoke cleared, Phoenix stared at me then started laughing, “What?” I asked, Phoenix just continued laughing, “What?” He laughed more as he grabbed my hand and pulled me to the bathroom and turned me to the mirror. When I saw what he was laughing about I crossed my arms and glared at him, which just made Phoenix laugh harder, “Okay, I get it.” He went over to the shower and turned it on, “Let’s get you cleaned up.” He said as he started stripping my clothes off, one by one. My breath hitched when he undid my pants and slid them down my body. He smir
The moment my lips touched Selene’s I could feel my jeans getting tighter as our kiss got more heated. After a moment, we pulled away, “Phoenix, the doctor said I was poisoned, maybe we shouldn’t.” He kissed me once more, “I asked him about it,” I told her, “he said that it would be safe for us. And he even said that the poison could have caused the low drive.” The second I got that out, I was tackled to the bed. Selene attacked my neck with kisses as she went down my body. “Selene…” before I could say anything she kissed my lips hungrily. Her hands unbuttoning my pants, “I want you.” She muttered, “I need you.” It was those words, those three little words that turned me into an animal. I picked her up and practically threw her on the bed and ravished her neck. The soft sounds of her moans turned me on as I unbuttoned her blouse, but she pushed me
It has been three days and I was helping some of the servants with the preparations. We didn’t have two weeks, this circle has to happen soon. It was nearing dark and already witches and wizards were arriving. I sat in the living room, reading a book when Phoenix came in, “Hello, beautiful.” He said as he placed a kiss on the top of my head, I looked up and smiled, “Hey,” “How come you’re all alone here?” He asked me, I closed the book and sat it down, “There may have been a mishap with some candles in the dining hall.” I said, Phoenix stared at me for a moment, “Was anyone hurt?” He asked, I shook my head, “Well, that’s good.” “Yeah, until the garden decided to burst through the windows in the kitchen when I was trying
Ten years. That’s how long it took to finish everything because of the battle Mara caused. My children have taken up responsibilities all across our kingdom and are more than excited to bring our people closer together; especially Apollo and Artemis. That’s all they ever want to do and they have declared that instead of marrying and only one of them assuming the throne after Phoenix and I retire, that they would rule as they do everything else, together. I could not be more proud of all of them, believe me, I’ve tried. I raised up and saw that Phoenix was still fast asleep; instead of doing the nice thing and letting him rest, I did the evil thing and started kissing his neck. His hands met my waist and he groaned. I couldn’t help myself, I started nibbling the skin which made his grip tighten; soon enough I felt him poking my inner thigh and I smirked. After getting his hands off my hips, I slid do
Mara was destroyed but Selene was in critical condition. Everyone had warned her that the spell was too dangerous, but she was determined to win the war, even if it meant risking her life to save ours. Amber said that out of over two thousand soldiers, only three hundred were injured or killed. I was upset that we lost any, but I was happy that we were able to save so many more. After the spell was cast, Selene plummeted to the ground; I managed to catch her before she hit, but she was unconscious and barely breathing. Even after being beaten nearly to death, she still managed to cast the spell that ended the battle. I sat beside her bed and held her hand, praying that she would wake up. My uncle and cousin brought the children now that it was safe for them; they’d sit with me and watch their mother. All three of the girls would start balling their eyes out when Selene wouldn’t answer them but she couldn’t help it. Her heartbeat was slow and there was
This is it, I thought. Today is the day we dethrone my grandmother. I watched out the window as the Silvermoon Pack warriors trained; other Alphas from different packs and their warriors came to help. I’m terrified, but I’m trying to hide it. But it’s hard to hide things from my husband. Phoenix came up behind me and hugged me tightly, “It’s going to be okay, Selene.” He told me; his attempts to be convincing weren’t doing any good. I simply smiled and turned so I could look into his eyes, “Yes, it is.” I said before turning my attention back to the window. Phoenix kissed my shoulder then asked, “What is it?” I sighed and turned around to face him completely, “So many of us…” my voice cracked, “This is the last time most of us will be together.” I told him, “So many of us might not be here when this is over
I stared at Selene as she slept. The poor thing has been so stressed out that she needed to rest. The nightmares were getting worse and the twins were having a tough time sleeping through the night. Coaxing the twins back to sleep, I placed them in the same crib together which seemed to work. Selene shifted in the bed, strands of her hair fell over her face; I couldn’t help but smile at her. Leaning towards her, I moved the hairs from her face and stroked her soft skin. Training was killing her, but Selene, my beautiful wife, she’s so strong. I know that no matter what happens to me, to Amber, to any of us, Selene will never stop fighting for what’s right. I sat back to admire her beauty but then she shot up, “Hey, hey,” I said softly, gaining her attention, “it’s okay, you’re okay.” She sighed softly,“What’s wrong?” She asked, &ldquo
Five weeks. Five weeks since I became a mother. The warriors from Packs all around the world were offering support alongside Alphas, witch covens offered support and even some of the vampire elders were on my side and had hundreds behind them awaiting my orders. Phoenix was playing with the babies while I went over things for the meeting in my head, what didn’t help was the adorable interruption of Artemis crawling over to me and reaching for me. I bent down and picked her up and snuggled her; Phoenix saw it as an opportunity to take a photo of the precious moment. “It’s hard to believe the twins are already crawling.” He told me, I smiled and nodded, “I know. Mom had told me that I hit many stages earlier than other infants just a few weeks after my birth.” I booped Artemis’s nose and she giggled, “They’re just like their momma.” I cooed, which earned me a small smile and chuckle from Phoenix,
I sat in the living area by the fireplace rubbing my already big belly. I was still trying to wrap my head around having five children. Phoenix assures me that we can handle it, but I’m not as confident as he is; I won’t even have my mother or uncles here to help me, especially since there were five of them. It would be nice if I could talk to someone that has or even had a big family. I sat there contemplating when Amber walked in with the biggest smile on her face, I chuckled, “You just got off the phone with Christopher, didn’t you?” Her smile only grew as she nodded her head profusely, “He wishes you the best and would like to know the plan when you finally figure that out.” She stated, I only stared at my stomach before giving her a weak smile, “Okay, I will.” I told her, “Oh, and one more thing…
I watched Selene as she trained, her belly was getting bigger and I was getting worried. What if she went into labor in the middle of the fight? What if something happened to her or our child? Amber came up beside me and sat down, “Hey,” she said as she began to watch Selene, “how’s she doing?” I motioned to her and shook my head while smiling, “She’s...she’s Selene. What do you expect?” Amber and I laughed, “But seriously,” I said as I turned my attention to Amber, “She’s stubborn. All Selene wants to do now is train, and I’m so worried that…” I didn’t even have to finish my sentence before Amber pulled me into a hug, “Selene and that baby will be fine.” She assured me, I smiled and embraced her. “Thanks, Amber.” Selene ran over to us, a bit out of breath; we both looked up at her, “Selene, honey, you shouldn’t
