“I'm sorry; I should have never brought you here with me," Mathias said, berating himself, his anger palpable as he struggled with his failure to protect Fateema as he had desired.

"You are forgetting I came here of my own free will," she said, forcing a smile through her pain, her determination shining through.

"Let's kick that old witch's butt," she said, and her words brought a fleeting smile to Mathias's face, a momentary respite from the tension and fear that enveloped them.

Mathias helped her up to her feet, their movements slow and deliberate, their bodies battered and sore. Together, they made their way towards the spot where Mrs. Fernanda had landed, but she was nowhere to be found.
