Mathias stopped and turned to look at the principal.
“Anytime you feel like talking, you know where to find me," Mr. Phillips said, then increased the volume of the TV set. Mathias left his office.
Caleb helped Clara search for the creature she described in the books, but all they saw fitting that description were mythical creatures.
“Werewolves? Are you sure about what you saw? Because everyone knows werewolves do not exist... Maybe because you were really scared that's why you imagined the creature to be that big. Maybe it's just a normal-sized wolf you saw," Caleb said, not wanting to believe in the existence of a werewolf. He is more of a science-minded person.
“I know what I saw... I am not saying it's a werewolf or anything, but the creature was really big and large. That was no regular wolf," Clara said, trying to emphasize her point.
“Okay. Maybe it's a bear then? Bears are known to grow really big," Caleb said, trying to find a logical explanation.
“I think I am old enough to know the difference between a wolf and a bear," Clara said, growing frustrated.
“Are you sure you do? Because you are talking crazy here, werewolf really? That's just crazy talk," Anna joined in, really surprised at what Clara was saying.
“I know it sounds crazy, but I wasn't the only one that saw that creature. Steven and his foolish friends saw it also. You can meet them and ask if you don't believe me," Clara said, trying to convince them.
“Maybe we should do that," Anna said, feeling curious.
“You know what, I can't talk to you guys right now," Clara said, feeling upset and leaving the library.
As she left the library, she saw Mathias coming out of the principal's office, and she knew the best person to talk about werewolves or anything about those supernatural beings was Mathias.
“Hey Mathias!..Mathias!" she called as she ran to meet him, feeling relieved.
Mathias slowed down his steps as he heard her calling his name.
“Hey, I need to talk to you if that's okay with you," Clara said as she got to him, eager to share her experience.
“Okay, what's that?" Mathias asked, feeling curious.
“It's about wolves...werewolves," Clara said, feeling a mix of excitement and fear.
Adams kissed his girlfriend, Ella, goodbye, and he left with his best friend Noah to go meet their coach for basketball practice before the actual game in the evening.
Noah's girlfriend, Patricia, also left with Ella for cheerleading practice.
“What were you thinking telling Ella you would quit basketball for her?" Noah said, unimpressed.
Adams chuckled.
“I was only kidding, but things worked out fine, didn't they?" he said, feeling satisfied.
“That's because I kept praying silently. I knew without you in our team, we don't stand a chance. But what if she had said yes? What would you have done?" Noah asked, feeling curious.
“I knew she can't say yes," Adams said in a confident tone.
“And how did you know that?" Noah asked, feeling skeptical.
“Well, I have known Ella for a while now, and I know there is one thing she loves more than me or anything else, and that's fame - being popular. I know she will do anything so she can remain as such, and what's more popular than being the girlfriend of the school hero? So, I know she won't let me give away my status," Adams said, feeling crafty.
Noah smiled also at Adam's crafty ingeniousness, having manipulated Ella to do what he wants her to do.
“I must say that's smart and kinda evil, but I like it,” Noah said.
“What can I say? It's in my nature to be evil,” Adams joked. They laughed as they walked to the ball court.
“...Ok, let me get this straight, you were abducted by Steven and his friends, and they took you into the woods to have their way with you?” Mathias repeated what Clara had just told him in shock, his eyes wide with disbelief.
“Yes, I just said that. Let's move ahead here, please,” Clara said, her voice tense and clipped, wanting Mathias to skip to the wolf part already, as if almost being raped wasn't an important issue to talk about.
“My God, those boys are really dangerous. Someone's got to stop them,” Mathias said, now doubting whether he made the right decision by not reporting Steven to the principal. His brow furrowed in concern.
“Trust me, I will deal with them later. Just leave them to me, but I need your help on this now,” Clara said, her tone urgent and pleading.
Mathias inhaled deeply. "So, you said a giant wolf saved you?" he said as they walked, his tone incredulous.
“Yes, it was very massive in size. Steven and his friends ran away in fear at the sight of it. Those cowards...I am telling you that the wolf was massive!" Clara narrated, her eyes wide and her voice shaking slightly.
“Then how come all of you survived this massive creature you speak of?” Mathias inquired, his voice skeptical.
“I don't know...I guess it spared our lives. I mean, according to the story your grandfather told you, werewolves were created to help humans, right? They only kill vampires. Don't they?" Clara said, her voice rising slightly in confusion.
“First, we ain't sure if it was a werewolf you saw because they mostly hunt in parks. And if it was actually a werewolf you saw, you guys wouldn't be still breathing,” Mathias said, his voice serious and stern.
“What does that mean?” Clara asked, a little bit scared, her voice trembling.
“It means you would be dead if you came face to face with a werewolf,” Mathias said, his voice clear and firm.
“B..But I thought they were the good guys,” she stuttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
“There are no good guys, not anymore. They both are monsters. You see, after the first werewolves Christopher and Love died at the age of 200 and 236 respectively, their children and bloodline cultivated a bad and costly means of having fun. They were fond of turning into wolves and spent almost the whole day in their wolf form than that of humans. But unknown to them, they were gradually losing their humanity and were becoming more like wild wolves - beasts. They started having the urge to feed on flesh and live animals, so they hunted in the park, going after the deers and bulls of the field. The humans then weren't bothered about the wolves' strange behavior until the wolves started tasting for human flesh and blood. The first human death by a werewolf recorded was that of a woman. She was killed by her husband Draco, who happened to be a werewolf. He transformed into a wolf when he and his wife were having a heated argument, and he ate up his wife to the very bones. He loved the taste of human flesh, and in the same week, he killed yet another human, a man who was busy working on his farm. He kept on killing humans, and soon after, he convinced his pack members to add humans to the food menu. The wolves discovered that humans made for easier prey, so they indulged in the hunting of men frequently,” Mathias narrated, his voice low and ominous.
Shivers of cold waves of fear came flowing through Clara's body as Mathias narrated his horrific tale.
“Okay, so no good guys then... But how were people back then able to survive the werewolves?” Clara asked, looking curious.
“Before the killing of humans, werewolves were treated like kings and queens because of how they helped humans in the fight against the vampires," Mathias explained with a thoughtful expression. "So, the people built a massive building for them to live in, and that's where all werewolves in the city lived. But when the killing of humans had become a normal day-to-day thing, the elders of the land called for an emergency meeting, and it was then they decided it was time for the werewolves to be gone for good."
Clara listened attentively, her eyes widening with each detail. "So, what happened then?" she asked.
Mathias sighed heavily, "So, on a fateful day, early morning even before the sun could rise up, the locals gathered, all with lit torches in their hands, surrounded the building, and set it on fire. Almost all of the werewolves died on that day; only a few managed to escape the fire, but they were badly burnt and easy for the locals to kill. However, some did escape the angry mob, but they never returned to the land again."
Clara gasped, covering her mouth with her hands. "That's so cruel," she muttered, her expression becoming sad.
“But I did see a big and frightening creature, and it got so close to me that I thought I would not escape with my life," Clara said, shivering at the memory. "But then it spared me, almost as if it came to save me from Steven and his zombies. I don't know if it was a werewolf. I never believed in mythical creatures, but I did witness something special yesterday."
“Okay, why don't you show me?" Mathias said, his tone laced with curiosity.
Clara hesitated, "I don't know... I don't think it's a good idea going back there," she said, her voice trembling.
“What? Are you scared? I thought the creature was your friend," Mathias teased, trying to lighten the mood.
“Ha-ha, really funny," Clara said sarcastically, but a small smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
“It's a deal then. You take me there after school hours," Mathias said, determinedly.
“I guess, but we have to be quick before my mom comes to pick me up," Clara said, her expression serious.
“Are you sure that's the only reason we need to be quick?" Mathias said, raising an eyebrow mischievously.
Clara rolled her eyes, "What other reason is there?" she said, laughing.
“Nothing, we will catch up later. I want to go watch our basketball team, the Sharks, train," Mathias said with excitement, and they had a friendly hug before departing.
Meanwhile, back in the library... “Do you think Clara was serious about this werewolf stuff?” Caleb asked Anna, his tone conveying genuine curiosity. “Are you asking me? Because I really don't know. All I know is that she looked serious. I know I shouldn't be saying this, but I think Mathias is having a bad influence on her,” Anna replied, her voice tinged with concern. “I don't think it's fair to blame Mathias. Even the guy in question himself hasn't once said he had seen a full-grown, alive werewolf before. He always says someone told him or he read it somewhere,” Caleb argued, his voice calm and rational. “What do you want me to say? Because you don't expect me to believe she actually saw a werewolf!! That's just insane,” Anna retorted, her voice rising in frustration. “I know, I know...but she doesn't seem like someone who was lying. Maybe, just maybe, she saw a creature that matches her description,” Caleb said, his tone thoughtful. “Don't tell me you are believing this fair
“Yes...she should be here by now,” Clara said, and all of a sudden, thoughts of what happened yesterday when her mom didn't show up flooded her mind. She didn't want a repeat of that. “Hey, you!” a familiar voice came from a distance. It was Anna, and Caleb was with her. “You just left even before the game ended. Should I be worried about something?” Anna said, furrowing her brows and directing her question at Clara but giving Mathias a mean look. “Everything is fine. Mathias was just helping me with what I discussed with you guys earlier in the library,” Clara explained, her voice hesitant, betraying her unease. But Anna simply dragged Clara away by the hand, leaving Mathias and Caleb staring at each other. After moving some distance away from the boys, Anna began, “I don't care how you will take what I am about to say, but I just have to say it.” “I don't understand what you're saying,” Clara said, looking lost and confused. “I think Mathias's craziness is starting to rub off
Dr. Ellen emerged from the kitchen and set both bowls of cereal on the dining table before making her way to the sitting room. Someone was lying on the sofa, wrapped up in a duvet from toes to neck, with only their head uncovered. Approaching the person, Dr. Ellen tenderly kissed their forehead. "Wake up sweetheart, it's time for dinner," she said, softly tapping them to rouse them from their slumber. Clara groggily opened her eyes. "Dinner is ready," Dr. Ellen repeated. "Alright, Mom," Clara replied, rubbing the sleep from her eyes with the back of her hand. She was still feeling drowsy, but her hunger was outweighing her tiredness. The mother and daughter silently enjoyed their meal of cereal at the dining table until Dr. Ellen spoke up, "The boys I saw you with, are they your friends?" Clara took a moment to consider her response before answering, "Yes, they are." She kept her eyes fixed on her food. "Hmm," Dr. Ellen sighed. "What?" Clara asked. "Nothing, it just seemed like
Originally once an Alpha is killed, their strength is transferred to the wolf that killed them, thereby making that wolf the next Alpha of the pack. However, this only works when the wolf that kills the Alpha is not an Alpha themselves. The wolf must be either a Beta or Omega wolf. If an Alpha wolf kills another Alpha wolf, the strength of the dead Alpha won't be transferred to the other Alpha or anyone else because the wolf already has alpha power. However, Lucian loved the feeling of having such strength. He loved it so much that he made an arrangement with Night Sisters, three witches from the pit of hell, who gave him a ring that enables him to do the seemingly impossible thing. He was the only Alpha who could steal other Alphas' power and add it to his own. Therefore, Lucian hunted many packs, killing their Alphas and adding their strength to his. He became more and more powerful with each Alpha he killed, and his strength, power, and respect kept increasing, as did his territo
"I know, but under the guidance of our parents, he wants me to be under his wings as his Beta wolf. His... Mano beta," Adams explained, sounding frustrated and helpless. "What? But you are still a minor... That's against the rules... Is that even allowed?" Noah said, looking shocked and concerned. "Why don't you tell him that? You should have been there with me. Trust me, there exists no scarier sight than what I saw in there," Adams said, then turned, walking to his car, feeling angry and defeated. They both entered the vehicle, and Adams ignited the engine, feeling hopeless about his future. "So, if I get this correctly, this means this would be your new home from now on until you die?" Noah asked, although he knew the answer to that already, feeling sad and worried for his friend. "That's how it's looking like," Adams said, feeling resigned and unhappy about his fate. "What about school? Basketball? Ella? And me? He wants to take your life away even before you get to live it!"
Having dinner with his family, Adams tried to figure out the best time to share the disturbing news with them. He was so sure that it would spoil the atmosphere around the dining table for everyone and he hated being the bearer of bad news that job had already been taken by his younger sister, Karen. The meal of hot spaghetti and fish tasted sour in his mouth today. This is no disregard to Mrs. Bright's cooking, who, for the record, is such a great cook. Adams's mind was busy trying its best to process everything that would soon become his new reality that his taste buds seemed not to be functioning. He felt preoccupied and distracted. The dinner was going normally, with Karen, as usual, complaining about something that happened to her in school, while Mr. and Mrs. Bright simply nodded their heads to everything she said, pretending to be listening to whatever she was saying. Not that they didn't care, but Karen complained a lot, especially about insignificant matters. Adams felt anno
Clara sipped from the cup and grimaced, feeling the scorching heat burning her tongue. “Sorry, I did warn you it was quite hot,” Dr. Ellen said with concern. “Really hot! But it tastes great,” Clara said, trying to hide the discomfort in her voice. She blew on the cup with more intensity before taking another sip. “So, do you mind telling me what is going on with you? Is it that you hate this place or you are missing your old friends and classmates so much that you have started having these...what should I call them?” Dr. Ellen asked, trying to understand her daughter's emotional state. “Mom, there is already a word for it. It's called nightmares,” Clara said, trying to make light of the situation. “Do you think this is a joke? I mean, just a few minutes ago, you were screaming and crying because of what you dreamt about, and now you want to be making jokes,” Dr. Ellen said, her frustration evident in her tone. “I am sorry, Mom, it's just that the dream looked so real... I though
"Awww! That's so sweet," Mrs Bright said with a gentle smile as she revealed herself, moved by the scene in front of her. "Mummmm!" Adams exclaimed, feeling embarrassed and hoping that his mother's presence wouldn't ruin the moment. Mr Bright was standing next to her, holding back tears as he watched his family embrace each other. He knew that this might be the last time they would all be together, and the thought was almost too much to bear. Damian took Vivian out of the woods and dropped her off at a place he believed was familiar to her. She felt grateful for his help but also confused and frustrated by his mysterious nature. "What are you?" She asked yet again, hoping for an answer. But yet again, Damian ignored that question. She should have figured it out herself by now. Maybe that was his reason; he was not giving her an answer, or maybe he hated what he was and didn't like saying it out loud. Whatever the case might be, he chose not to relate what kind of creature he is to
He wasn't alone though, his extended wolf family, his mother, little sister Karen and his best friend Noah where with him and also Lucian former men who are now his men, he was now their new Alpha.“ Everyone will know that Eric Damian still lives on in all of us, we all are going to stand for justice just as he did. “ Damian!!! ” he roared loudly and The Fiery Red Demon stopped walking and turned around to face Lucian.“ We are not done just yet, you must meet your end tonight!!! ” he screamed but The Fiery Red Demon wasn't interested in whatever he had to say.So he turned around and continued walking away still carrying Clara.“ Face me! Adams wasn't alone, though. His extended wolf family, including his mother, little sister Karen, and his best friend Noah where with him as well as Lucian's former men one of his men but now under Adams' command, stood beside him as well, acknowledging Adams as their new Alpha. “Everyone will know that Eric Damian still lives on in all of us. "Damian!!!" Lucian bellowed, his voice reverberating through the air. The Fiery Red Demon halted his steps and pivoted to face Lucian, his fiery gaze locking with Lucian's. "We are far from finished! Tonight, you shall meet your demise!" Lucian's voice erupted, filled with rage and determination. Yet, the Fiery Red Demon remained uninterested, showing no regard for Lucian's words. Turning around the Damian continued walking with Clara in his strong but gentle arms. "Face me! Face me! Attack him!" Lucian's voice thundered, commanding his men to strike. But fear had taken hold of their hearts, rendering them hesitant to obey his orders. They trembled in the presence of Damian, their leader's power gnawing at their resolve. Lucian's fury surged, boiling within him like molten lava. Without a second thought, he swept away the head of one of his men and tore out the heart of another. "I said attack!" he barked, his voice sharp as a blade, leaving his men with no choice but to comply re
The werewolf, with a savage strength, seized Sergeant Chriswell from behind, violently twisting him around before mercilessly ripping out his heart. With a lifeless thud, Chriswell collapsed, his body now devoid of any signs of life. Eric Damian, despite the excruciating pain coursing through his body from Lucian's claws embedded in his stomach and the ancient dagger plunged into his chest, refused to yield. The dagger inflicted unimaginable torment upon him, but Damian found a sliver of relief in knowing that Chriswell's sacrifice had momentarily halted the witches' spell, sparing him from the searing agony in his head caused by their grieving for their fallen sister. Supported by the deceased Sergeant Chriswell's sacrifice, Damian clung to a slim chance of survival, but time was of the essence. In a burst of anguish, he let out a piercing scream, not only fueled by physical torment but also by an overwhelming surge of anger. Amidst his cries, his eyes locked onto Peterson's gaz
