A part of him wanted to drop the packages and the envelope in the bin and be done with it, yet another part of him wanted to desperately know what his father had wanted him to say in his last letter. So with a sense of very dark cynicism clouding his mind he slit open the envelope which contained two letters. One from the lawyer who was handling the estate of his late father, no surprises there and also the other letter which was written by hand by Cedric Hunter himself, and addressed to him personally. Now that was something which would be interesting. He had not expected him to give a personal touch as well.
And then he slit open the package which was sitting there on his desk untouched.
It was carefully wrapped under layers of bubble wrap and when he opened it Oberon plopped down on the chair at the sheer shock of the beauty he was holding in his hands. It was a small egg, made of pure gold and had beautiful designs carved and etched in it which made him realize for the first time how obscenely wealthy his father was. That was not the kind of wealth which you could earn in one generation. It was the kind of wealth and property which was passed down from father to son, down to ancestors. And as he touched the egg he felt that there was an opening in it and he pried the thing open only to softly gasp in pleasure at the gorgeousness of the ruby which was nestled inside on a velvet platform inside.
It was a large stone and the cut was so exceptional that it seemed to absorb all the light in the room and flicker with it’s own light itself. Oberon had known that his father was a wealthy man from the time that he had visited him in his ancestral home. It was like a veritable treasure trove every where one could see---- old, old wealth, the kind that could only belong to aristocracy. But Oberon did not want it. He did not want any part of it at all. His whole body seemed to burn at the touch and sense of the ruby inside the egg in his palm.
But he also knew that he was not going to let his mother take away the only thing that his father had ever given him. So he quickly closed it and put it back inside the box and then safely tucked it in the safe which was behind his cupboard near the floorboards. It was a secure choice he had to make. Virginia Credence might be immensely wealthy of her own right and by the right of her multiple husbands but that had done nothing to satisfy her or curb her greed.
And then he opened the letter as he put away the lawyer’s typed one without glancing at it. He could not lead his mother to seeing something which was going to put her hopes high in the air and then she would be pestering him like a bug which you could not get rid of so easily. It must be some description of his estate or something which he might have left back for him in his will. But that was not important at all.
He opened the letter and saw that the writing was in cursive. The penmanship was beautiful, strong with a right slant to it. And the ink was black. The paper was thick vellum which had a watermark on it, something which he did not recognize.
“Dearest Son,
The day you came to see me in my home I did not even pull you close to my heart and wrap my arms around you and I regret not doing that even still to this day. But blood never lies, Oberon. You have made yourself a man which most people would envy and you have done nothing but make me proud. I never succeeded in the places which should have mattered most to me but I think you should have a chance of gaining that, since you still have time. I did not have the time to make amends with any of you at all.
You are my eldest son. The eldest heir of the Hunter Family and the identity of your mother really does not matter in our country. It is still the land where the red-blooded males take care of everything. Over all the years that I have travelled across the world, where my sports and my business has taken me I have left my mark there. Just like you my son. I know it must come as a shock to you, but you have three younger half-brothers and three younger half-sisters. Amongst the seven of you only two of my daughters, who are twins and are the only children from my marriage and you, of course, know the identity of your real father.
However your brothers in United States, England and New Zealand and your one sister in India are still unaware of my existence. And then again there are the terrible twins one who refuses to acknowledge my very existence and is engaged in doing relief work in Syria and the other one is the star of Milan. All of you have made me so proud that my heart clenches in pain thinking about it. But none of you are going to be here when I am not anymore, by my side. I don’t accuse you, my son. It is my own doing.
But I have an idea that you would be interested to know your extended family, all your brothers and sisters. And in order for their names and identities to be revealed you need to first do something for yourself. Find yourself a wife and beget an heir Oberon. You need to have your own family before you can meet your already existing one. And I am sure with a man of your charms, it must be simple enough for you.
In hopes that you might have it in you to forgive me sometime ever in future,
Your Unfortunate father
Cedric Hunter”
Virginia Credence was a woman who wanted that the world should revolve round her and according to her it still did. She had not been able to snag the handsome Bolivian international polo player as husband. Neither had she wanted to in her life. She was perfectly happy and contented to just win the pageant of Miss Universe Title which had been held in Rio de Janerio that year causing them both to meet. Of course, she had not meant to get pregnant by him under any circumstances. That was just an unfortunate accident, especially when she was engaged to marry the Cattle Baron of the country, the Lachlans’ oldest son.But it was easy enough for a woman of her persuasive charms and power to make him understand that the child she was carrying was her husband’s and not anyone else’s. It had certainly nailed the wedding to the targeted home-grown billionaire bridegroom.Marriage had meant that she had to give up her year as Miss Universe but she had won the title and that was the
With nothing else left to cling on to in the presence of his son Virginia left without any sound. She was rather eager to leave the place since she could very well understand that there was nothing in there for her. Moreover Oberon knew that she must be more than interested in finding out the worth of the necklace that she had received this morning from the father of her son. Be it in his death, she always would want to know how much she was worth to him. It might sound cheap and crappy but that did not mean that Virginia Credence did not know how to sum up the profit that she made from each connection she made. It was the rule of business world, if you take something from someone you must always remember the price. Now that Oberon was left to himself again, he started thinking about what was written in the letter and how it would be the best to get to the end line of what he wanted without giving up too much in return. The more he thought about it, the angrier he g
Rhonda looks at him sleeping softly and silently in his crib and then softly slips her little finger in his slightly open fist which he grabs hold of almost immediately. It was like he instinctively knew that his mother was close and he had nothing to fear at all. And so he smiled in his sleep. Rhonda had read somewhere that babies smiled in their sleep because angels came down to play with them. The innocent creature who filled her with such awe that she could not even believe that she was the one who had given birth to him sometimes. He was so beautiful and yet so dangerously vulnerable that her heart clenched with fear at the mere thought of losing him.“There is absolutely nothing of you in him at all Rhonds,” her father growled in a low voice as he studied her sleeping one-month old son. There was a disgruntled look on his face and Rhonda could not help but feel sorry for him that he still could not get out of the damage that his first wife had done in the cour
Her father sounded absolutely affronted as though any man should be absolutely honoured to be her husband. After all, she was the only Grint child. The only heiress to the huge family fortune that they had earned from mining. And she was also naturally beautiful when she decided to pay slight attention to her natural assets.“Why doesn’t he know that you are having his child?” asked Rupert. He sounded positively fumed when he spoke.“I already told you Dad.” Said Rhonda shaking her head not wanting to reveal the identity of the other parent of her child.” It was a one-time thing for the both of us and things were only going to get messy and I did not want that happening.”“Is he already married?” asked Rupert in a low voice. That might also be an option when his daughter was being so secretive about the identity of this mystery man.“No Dad!” said Rhonda as her own vividly blue eyes lasered his with the same ferocity.” It was just a one-time thing. A big mist
“Like it was with Cedric Hunter Dad?” asked Rhonda, not entirely sure how he was going to react at this piece of information since he had so carefully concealed from his daughter till now. It had not happened with him but it had happened in the family and that too with his own older brother. When a scandal erupted about a marriage or about cuckolding that too of the heir of the family it was a very very bad thing. And it left no stone unturned and no reputation untarnished.Rupert Grint grimaced at the reminder and then glanced at her sharply.“How on earth did you come to know that? Who told you?” he asked.“Mom said that to me, a few months back,” replied Rhonda as she remembered the time when she had heard the gory details of the situation.Rupert snorted at that piece of information.” No doubt that your mother regarded that as a high piece of drama. Even though I never had any love for your mother to be honest Rhonds, I am going to be forever grateful for
Oberon frequently used her services as the casting agent to get the right people acting in the commercial films that he created. It was during the months of the early phases of her preganancy. She had known but he had not. Then Rhonda had wanted him to…waited for him to show some kind of inclination towards her and show that he also felt something for her like she did.It was a stupid wish of course, which never came true. No sign had come from him…and worse part…Rhonda smiled wryly thinking about the next affair that he had begun. She was a hot blonde model, of course she was workng in his ad films and she was one hot creature and there was no doubt about that since she flaunted it so blatantly. It had not taken him very long to forget her that she had been in his bed not a very long time before that and had taken that nameless blonde in that same place.Rhonda had hated him for it. How could he do that? Did he not understand at all what he had meant to her? Was h
The shock of hearing directly from the man about whom she had been thinking for a considerable time and with a lot of her focus and energy had rendered her absolutely silent. It made Rhonda absolutely speechless for a brief moment of time. This was the man who had been the sole attention of her entire emotional conflict for all these months was now calling her up of his own volition and she had absolutely no clue what she was supposed to say. How did this even work?“Hello? Rhonda? Are you there?” asked Oberon from the other side. Impatience ringing in his voice just like always. Waiting or patience was not one of his virtues.“Yeah I am here. What is wrong Oberon?” asked Rhonda in reply because she could not think of anything else to really say. She did not even want to have this conversation with him at the moment, not any conversation but then she could not just hang up on him like that.“There is nothing wrong at all,” Oberon reassured her in a hasty manner.
It was a teen horror flick. It was rather a thriller which turned into horror in the second half of the movie and it had been timed just in time for the summer vacation of the schools to draw the main crowd from the teenagers and the adolescents only. Oberon was well aware of everything that was going on in the glamour world like always and there was nothing that Rhonda could say to that.“Rhonda? Would you go with me as my date?” asked Oberon again and Rhonda could not formulate a suitable reply to the question for the moment.“Are you saying that you have been invited for the premier and you do not have a date for the night? Like some hot sexy blonde currently featuring in your latest production?” asked Rhonda with a twinge of jealousy in her voice which even she could detect.“That is not a problem. It will be dealt with within this week,” said Oberon as if he was talking about a bug and not a human being.“And why do you think that I don’t have a date for
Oberon had planned to give this party before they left for Bolivia, its purpose to publicly celebrate their marriage which he still felt was the important thing to do. Their happiness together, he declared, would confound everyone and make it a scintillating affair, all the guests, glittering madly around them and trying to shine lights on cracks in their relationship and forced to concede failure because there were none. And that was certainly happening tonight, thought Rhonda, secretly amused by some of the outrageous questions that had been tossed at her and Oberon tonight as they stood arm in arm, greeting and chatting up with the guests who were rolling up despite the short notice. The whole A-list of Sydney society was agog with discussion to assess the newly married couple and how on earth had they been able to buy the place at Piper point as a family home.Besides, people generally wished them
Rhonda knew intuitively that he would retreat from her if she did not show her that she believed in him. Now was the moment to capture the intimacy that they had not reached before.”I am sorry that I listened to your mother. She conjured up things that have plagued my life and although I tried to look past them, I needed you to set them aside for me, to make me feel right with you again,” said Rhonda.“Have I done that?” asked Oberon, with blazing intensity in his gaze.“Yes,” she answered emphatically.” Yes, you have.”“Good!” A fierce triumph blazed from his eyes,” Because you are right for me, Rhonda. So very right for me. In every possible way that there is.”It would be easy now to revel in the rightness that he felt with her, to hold him to herself an
Oberon set down the towel that he had used to wipe down the water from his body and then drew Rhonda in a loose embrace as he focused his mind on speaking the truth on seeking the best path towards understanding. He rested his forehead lightly on hers and almost like he needed their minds to meet.“You have a family,” he started,” It may be dysfunctional but you have met every single member of it. You know what they are like. You know which cousins you like and which you hate. You know where they come from and you know what they can do. You can mix both freely with them, both on your mother’s side and on your father’s side.”Her shoulders pulled back, muscle tensing, whether in impatience or resistance he could not tell but she was in tune with this talk about her family.“That’s not to say that you were not alone, Rhonda. I know
Oberon felt too raw, too angry, too exposed, to be anywhere near Rhonda or near their son. He was not in the right state of mind to be taking care of Ruriel either. It was wrong to use his own fatherhood as a blindfold to the churning hatred stirred by his father’s attitude towards himself and his brothers and sisters…owing all of them nothing except their lives and not even each other. He had to deal with this all alone and then move past it…he had to step forward in the future. He sought out Karen, the nurse for Ruriel who was now an integral part of their household, finding her in the nursery quarters where Ruriel was due to have his morning nap. Having left his son in her care, he decided that what he needed at the moment was some of the hard mindless, physical exertion to get off from this sickening inner turbulence that was churning his insides.Oberon headed to the boatshed b
“Don’t you see it?” roared Oberon,” Don’t you get how obscene this is? We are not his sons and daughters.. we are not his children…we are just performing monkeys for him…who will perform the tricks and he will enjoy it from hell or wherever he is!!”He threw out his hands in furious disgust and then he advanced in the direction of Ferrera with his hands moving animatedly,” And you…you are the other director of the circus to make sure that we perform right, isn’t it? Having fun, are you? Seeing how well the outcast bastards are going to come back into Cedric Hunter’s fold when he dangles the carrot of money in front of all of us? Are you making sure of handing out the rewards to us like the good performing monkeys get peanuts when they finished their act?”Ferrera stiffened in the face of the oncoming attack and said,&rdquo
“Serendipity, yes,” Oberon bit his words concededly,” But my marriage to Rhonda had nothing to do with the conditions that my father laid down for inheriting a part of his estate which he supposed too be my worth and my share.”“The inheritance…” the lawyer gestured his hands indicating that it was simply an ambivalent factor.” Cedric simply used that as a power tool to drive you to re-appraising your life from the way that you were leading it when you received the letter a few months ago? It worked, did it not?”Breath hissed out from Oberon’s clenched teeth. He was steaming at this manipulation which was being orchestrated from the grave however Rhonda reasoned that it had actually done him no harm. Even if it was the rebellion against the way that Cedric Hunter had lived his life still then it had led them to here where they shared togethe
The furious words crackled across the room as Oberon charged through it, barely clothed in one of the white toweling robes kept at the dressing room of the terrace pool. It hung loosely at his shoulders, gaping at the front because he clearly had not stopped long enough to drag the edges together and do up the tie-belt. The brief black swimsuit that he wore underneath was clearly visible.Ruriel, probably still naked as he had been in the pool was wrapped in a towel and riding in the crook of his father’s arm, his little face looking brilliantly alert to the fascination of his father in steaming attack mode, his gaze following Oberon’s other arm as it stabbed out at Mr. Ferrera then swept back, pointing to the door.“Get out of our home!” he roared.“Oberon!!” The shock literally exploded from Rho
Rhonda was in the dining room, watching the apple-green silk curtains being put up. She had this warm snuggly feeling inside her that this was not a house anymore. And was gradually turning into their home. It was not a showcase of intimidating possessions but a place which soon become pleasing, harmonious and comfortable.Rhonda was not expecting any visitors. It was Saturday and morning was not a time for people to call, especially in their home not without an appointment. It surprised her greatly when their newly appointed housekeeper, Betsy came into the dining room to find her and to hand her a business card and announce,” I have put the gentleman in the parlour, Mrs. Hunter.”The gentleman. The rather old fashioned term and the respectful tone on the housekeeper’s voice immediately piqued Rhonda’s interest. The extremely efficient Betsy was only in her later forties and ha
We lie quietly for a few minutes more, and my hand now travels down your body, reaching your ass where I begin to lightly stroke you there. I know how much you like being petted there, and sure enough, after a few moments I begin to feel your nipples harden on my chest."Get up, sweetie," I whisper in your ear. You climb off of me, and sit on the bed, looking down at me. I can now see just how hard your nipples are, jutting out from your breasts hanging down on your body."Come up here," I say, pointing to the middle of the bed, "and kneel." You do as instructed, kneeling and facing the headboard. "Good girl - now bend over and put your head on the pillow." You comply with my instruction, putting you in one of my favorite positions. Your arms are folded, your head between them resting on the pillow, your pass pointing up into the air. I move around behind you, and gentle nudge your knees, moving them farther apa
