Alijah woke up with a scream.

Nightmare. It was only a nightmare. A nightmare like every other night.

She checked her phone and got out of bed so fast, she almost fell down. How could she have slept off? Or was she mistaken about time? She checked her phone again. 9:00 AM. Nope, definitely not mistaken.

She hurried through her morning routine and got ready for work. What if Mr Fart, her boss, fired her for coming late to work? What if he thought she resigned because of yesterday's advance? Then, she would be doomed. She needed that job, just as she needed the air to breathe. Even though she was only a secretary, she loved the pay the job got from the job. She needed that money to keep her mind and soul together.

20 minutes later, she was out the door.

"I'm sorry I'm late." Alijah told her boss.

His name is Mr Alfred Ray, but Alijah prefered to call him Mr Fart because she thought the man's attitude was like a fart that smells to others but never to the one who farted. Although Alijah never called him Mr Fart to his face. She loved her job more than that, thank you.

"Alijah. You knew I had a business meeting by 8 AM this morning, and as my secretary, you were supposed to be here. So, why are you coming in by 109 AM?" The man asked, rubbing his protruding belly.

"Sorry sir. It won't happen again, Mr Ray." Alijah apologized.

"Make sure it doesn't." He warned her before walking away from her.

About 3 hours into work, Alijah's phone buzzed. She checked the phone and saw a message from an unknown number.

He's not yet awake.

The message simply read. Alijah realized it had to be from Renee. She typed a reply back to her.

Will be there when I close from work. Take care.

Her phone buzzed again almost immediately. It was a reply from Renee.

Thank you. It read.

Alijah smiled to herself. At least, someone appreciates her.

As soon as she closed from work, and managed to evade her boss, she drove to the hospital. Renee was sitting beside her brother on the bed, and her finger was bleeding.

"What are you doing?" Alijah asked, walking into the room. The girl seemed startled by the voice, and quickly hid her bleeding finger.

"Nothing." She simply replied.

She obviously hurt her finger, so why was she hiding it? Or was she afraid that Alijah would think she was clumsy?

Alijah thought to herself and smiled. She decided to let the matter go as she didn't want to put the girl in an awkward position. Instead, they spent the next two hours talking about everything and nothing.

Alijah noticed that Renee was doing her best to avoid personal questions about her and her brother. No matter how much she asked, Renee would simply reply with a question of her own. In the end, Alijah let it go.

The next three days passed almost the same way. Alijah getting late to work, her boss scolding her. Then, she visits Renee and her brother at the hospital.

Why wasn't the man awake? Even the doctor was beginning to get worried. According to Evan, who was her friend and also the doctor, the man was well and okay. So he should have been up in 3 hours or so after he was stabilized. But, this was the fourth day and he wasn't showing any sign of waking up yet.

"Good night, Alijah." One of her coworkers called after her as she walked out the company's door. She waved her hand above her head to acknowledge the greeting.

She drove to the hospital and went straight to the man's admission room. She liked the girl Renee already. So, she doesn't mind spending time with her. She just hoped the man would wake up already, not because she was curious to see if his eyes had different shades like his sister. But, because she hoped that would ease Renee's worry, as the girl was getting more worried every minute.

"Is he not awake still?" Alijah asked Renee after acknowledging her greetings.

"No." The girl replied, sounding really worried.

She was cleaning her brother's face with a piece of wet cloth. Alijah moved close to her and took the cloth from her.

"Get some rest. I'll do it."

Renee didn't bother to argue, she simply moved to the only seat in the room and sat down.

"Thanks." Renee said, looking at Alijah, her golden eye seeming to shine brightly like life was oozing out of it before closing her eyes. Alijah looked at the girl and smiled to herself. Other people at the hospital were afraid of Renee, but she wasn't. The only other person who didn't seem afraid too was Evan.

Alijah felt a movement beside her on the bed and turned to look at the man lying on the bed. She stared directly into a pair of ocean blue eyes, which seemed to be floating her away into the land of the unknown. He was awake. She broke free from whatever trance she was in.

"You're awake?" Alijah asked the man, excitement bubbling in her voice.

"Yes, I am." The man replied as he held Alijah's arm and sank his teeth into it.

Alijah let out a loud cry as she felt something breaking into her skin. She became afraid and tried to dislodge the man from her, but the task proved impossible. She tried screaming, but no sound came from her.

The man kept sucking, and soon, the feeling changed from fear to something Alijah couldn't comprehend. She only knew that something was happening to her body. She felt the man pull out his teeth and licked the wound on her arm, which closed immediately.

"O+" The man said, swirling his tongue over his long canine.

Vampire.

Alijah thought just before she fainted.

"Human." The man said with so much disdain in his voice. He felt his strength and power coming back, he willed his eyes to change colors just to test his power, he felt the change taking place. Next, he willed his hair to change color, and the hair turned from white to black .

Good. I have my power back again.

He thought, holding the black hair in his hand.

"Glad you are back. I was so worried about you, Scott." Renee told him, hugging him tightly.

"Let's get out of this damn place that is reeking of humans." Scott said, looking at the lady fainted on the bed with disgust.

"Will she be okay?" Renee asked him.

"Who cares? Let's go." Scott said, walking out the door.

Renee followed him out the door, his long strides daring anyone to stop him. Renee tried to fill him in on everything that had happened ever since he had lost out on her, including how the girl he had fed from had helped. When they got to the nurse counter, he stopped and told them they might want to go check on the patient in a certain room, which was the room he had been in.

Maybe he did feel guilty.

Renee thought as they were out of the hospital. They looked for a safe place and he teleported away.

"Hey. Not even a thank you?" Renee asked after his fading body. And, of course there was no reply.

Renee was afraid Alijah could die. The woman had been nothing but help to them, and Renee was already beginning to think of her as a friend. But, she couldn't stay behind. Staying behind would mean having to answer questions she couldn't.

Sorry, Alijah.

Renee said silently, before teleporting away too.

Evan couldn't believe his eyes. The two colored eyes girl had just disappeared with some random guy before his eyes. He had thought there was something odd about the girl and her brother when he first met them. That's right, her brother. Why would she just leave her brother alone and leave with some strange guy?

Unless…

Evan ran as fast as he could into the hospital, only stopping when he was in the admission room of the white hair man. The sight he saw made him frozen.

"What happened to her?" He asked one of the nurses.

"We met her unconscious." The nurse replied.

Evan watched as they hooked Alijah to some monitor machines, passed a drip into her vein without a word. As soon as everyone left though, he started checking Alijah's body. He was sure those two siblings had done something to her.

He was about to give up when he saw the two tiny marks on her arm. To any untrained eyes, they were just a mark. But to Evan, it was everything he's been waiting for his entire life.

It was his reason for being a doctor, his reason for working in the emergency ward, his reason for always taking a stroll out at night, and in silent areas.

He can't believe luck was with him today. Looking for the white hair man would be futile, since the man can somehow change his looks. All he has to do now is look for the two shades color eyes girl. Even if she can alter her look too, she would never be able to change her eyes.

Finally.

Evan thought as a smile crept up his face.

Finally, Home.Scott thought as he looked around the familiar room he had teleported too. He plopped down into a seat, rested his head on the edge of the seat, and crossed an arm over his face.He knew his sister would not be coming there anytime soon, and that only pleased him well. How could she have even thought that the next best thing to do was take him to the hospital? What if they had been discovered? We could still be discovered. The tiny voice in his head reminded him.He shouldn't have fed from the girl. He knew it was extremely dangerous, but he had woken up very hungry and her blood had smelled appealing to him. So he had done the most stupid thing he had ever done in his life.He couldn't deny that her blood was delicious though. It had taken him all the willpower he had left not to suck her dry. It hadn't helped that his inner demon had roared at the scent of the girl, and he had felt aroused for the little girl like an untrained youth. Worst of all, he had forgotten to

Scott asked them after.Lucas took his time to explain everything that had happened. At least, what they thought had happened. When Scott confirmed their thoughts that he had indeed fed from her, Lucas continued in his tale. He also explained what he thought might have been the reason for Scott's unconscious state. Scott Anderson looked at the alley he was walking in, already regretting that he had let Lucas and Arden talk him into the situation he was in. Now, he was already getting angry at the entire situation on the ground and he was mostly angry at the human girl, whatever her name was.He was however happy that the bond had been broken, even though the process had been nothing but pain. Lucas had tied him down like an animal so that his demon side would not take over him. Then, the man had made him gulp down some weird substance that had left a bitter taste in his mouth. He had thought that was all it would entail but if only he knew.It hadn't been more than a minute when the pain had begun. If Scott had thought vomiting due to the human blood was death, whatever Lucas had made him drink was hell. For more than 3 hours, his vampire blood and demon blood fought over domination. It got to a point when Scott had thought death would be a better option compared to what he w

To cut the long story short, he felt like he had been crucified without his permission. When the sunlight hit him again, this time a little brighter than before, he turned an angry scowl toward the direction the light came from. Scott teleported to the screaming woman in front of him without much thought about giving his identity away; something he had been trying to avoid since the moment he opened his eyes in her house. All he had just thought about at that moment was to get her to shut up. When he got to where she was, he slapped a hand over her mouth and indicated the shush tone."Keep quiet, will you?" He asked her in a commanding tone.Alijah heard the automated control tone of someone asking her to keep quiet somewhere in the subconscious of her screaming. When she realized that it was the same man she had run away from, she screamed even louder into his hand which muffled her tone a little. After she had been bitten by that vampire creature at the hospital, the truth had never gotten to her that vampires were creatures that truly exist and not just in the nighttime books. Seeing a man who had reacted the same way that white-haired man did had made her freak out of her usual controlled self. Why wasn't

Even if the cat wanted to stay with her, she was sure the man would insist on taking the cat away. She would miss the pet. She had come to rely on the companionship the cat gave her. Now, there would be no one she could talk to and tell all her worries. She would return home to only her furniture and the silence her house provided her with. She sighed as she tried to shoot the depressing thoughts away. She was already used to being alone for most of her life, so returning to that circle again shouldn't be such a hard thing for her.It was a hard thing, she thought. Memories of the recent events swirled in his mind, igniting the sparks of his anger. Despite Alfred's attempts to console him, Scott couldn't shake the feeling off. Alfred watched Scott, concern etched on his face. "You need to calm down, Scott," Alfred advised, his voice gentle yet firm. "Alijah is safe, hopefully and why are you worried about what she said anyway." Scott shot Alfred a look, his eyes burning with frustration. "She told me to leave her apartment, Alfred. After everything that's happened, she still doesn't get it. I just wanted to protect her," Scott retorted, his voice tinged with resentment. "I understand, but getting worked up won't solve anything. Let's focus on finding a way to keep her safe from this distance" he suggested, trying to reason with Scott. Scott let out a frustrated breath, running a hand

"I don't know who you're talking about but Scott never faces misery, if you keep talking smack about my best friend, you won't have the ability to talk soon enough. " Alfred warned him. He couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at him, urgency struck through him, like it had been gnawing him ever since. Renee sat at the corner of the room, eating the left over food that Alijah made. She shouldn't eat that but she was doing that. Alfred worked tirelessly at his side, his fingers flying over the keyboard as he sifted through data and scanned surveillance footage in a desperate bid to pinpoint Alijah's location. But despite their best efforts, they still came up empty-handed, no closer to finding her than they had been before.
