“WHAT?” Noah furrowed his brow, attempting to recall the events of earlier.

Once he had taken care of everything at work, he ordered himself a cup of coffee from his favorite cafe. When it arrived, he had planned to call Celene, but after taking a sip of his coffee, something felt off and that was the last thing he could remember.

“Your secretary informed me of the possibility that your coffee may have been tampered with. He is currently looking into the matter.” Celene explained between sniffles. Noah then gently pressed his lips together and brushed her cheeks with his fingertips, understanding exactly what she was going through at the moment.

“I’m sorry for worrying you—”

“Why are you apologizing? It wasn’t your fault.” she said as she touched his hand, “How are you feeling? Shall I call the doctor?”

“No, I’m feeling fine.” Noah shook his head, “So, stop crying now. I don’t like that I’m making you cry.”

“How can I not cry when I almost lost you? The doctor assured us that the pois

“NEGATIVE AGAIN?” Celene bit her lip as she met her mother-in-law’s disapproving gaze. She clutched the side of her pants, wincing as the negative pregnancy test was hurled at her head. She trembled with the desire to fight back, but she knew it would only cause more harm. Her husband adored his mother, and any conflict with her would surely disappoint him. So, instead of reacting, she took a deep breath and crouched down to pick up the pregnancy test. “You’ve been married to my son for almost three years and until now, you still can’t give him an heir?!” Martha’s voice rang out as soon as Celene straightened her posture. “Are you even a woman?!” “I already visited the hospital, and the OB confirmed that I’m perfectly healthy. So, it’s possible that Jarred could be the one with issue—” She wasn’t able to finish her sentence off when suddenly, the door swung open, and both women’s gazes snapped towards it. Celene’s husband stood in the doorway, a woman at his side and a large su

“YOU CALLED FOR ME?” Celene asked as she entered Jarred’s office. He nodded in response, and she made her way to his table, feeling a smile spread across her face when he took her hand and guided her onto his lap. “H-hey we’re at work,” “I know, I won’t do anything.” he chuckled, wrapping his arms around her waist before nuzzling his face into her neck. “Then why did you call for me?” “I have a dinner meeting scheduled with Mr. Nakamura, but my head is already pounding from work. I really just want to go home and rest. Could you attend the meeting in my place?” He gazed up at her with pleading eyes, his lips tugged into a sweet smile that Celene couldn’t possibly reject or refuse. “All right, give me all the details of the meeting and what exactly I needed to do,” she said as she caressed his cheek, fully aware that she still had a mountain of paperwork to tackle as the general manager. However, adding another task to her plate shouldn’t be too difficult. After all, this was not th

NOAH ARCHED arched an eyebrow and took a casual seat on the couch, causing Celene’s eyes to widen. She frantically searched the room for a clock and felt a chill run down her spine when she saw that it was already midnight. “Where’s my bag? I need to contact my husband, he must be worried about me already,” She gasped, swiftly grabbing the blanket from her lap and jumping off the bed. Her eyes darted around the room, searching for her bag. However, a sudden wave of dizziness hit her, causing her stomach to churn. She reached out and steadied herself on the nearby table before she could collapse onto her knees. As she attempted to stand again, Noah caught her, holding onto her for support. “Honestly, what are you doing?” he sighed, “Go back to bed, don’t you know you have been drugged by that pervert?” Celene looked up at him with wide eyes, she already had a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Nakamura had slipped something into her drink, but she didn’t expect that Noah would have picked

“NO,” Celene said firmly, her voice turning serious. No matter how she looked at it, he was wrong for making her apologize to someone who had just sexually assaulted her. “What?” Jarred’s expression hardened as his wife went against his command for the first time, which surprised him. “I just explained how Mr. Nakamura drugged me and sexually assaulted me. Are you seriously considering making me confront that predator again?” she questioned, not caring anymore about his potential anger or disappointment toward her. This incident was not something she could simply brush under the rug. “Do you not believe my words? Do you think I’m just making up a story because I failed to secure the deal?” “Even if what you said was true, can’t you just forget about it? You claim to have lost consciousness, but from my perspective, you seemed completely fine. That indicates that nothing actually happened.” Celene’s heart shattered at the sound of his nonchalant tone about her situation. He didn’t ev

“SIR, we already found him. I brought him to the warehouse as instructed. What should we do with him now?” Percival asked, his gaze shifting between the unconscious Japanese man, who had a handkerchief covering his eyes and was tied to the chair with thick ropes around his wrists and ankles. He was waiting for a response, but it seemed unlikely from this captive.“Don’t do anything yet, I’ll deal with the pervert myself, so just make sure he doesn’t get away until I get there. I’m on my way,” Noah took a long drag from his cigarette, savoring the bitter taste before exhaling a cloud of smoke. He then stubbed out the butt in the ashtray, the gentle afternoon breeze ruffled his hair.“Understood, sir.” his secretary replied, and he simply made a humming noise before hanging up the call. He then returned his phone to his pocket and pulled out a mint candy, placing it in his mouth. He wasn’t even involved in any gangs or mafia organizations, yet he was acting like one. However, that didn’t

“ARE YOU LISTENING?” Celene furrowed her brow as she observed Agnes. She had been talking constantly, giving an overview of the company’s operations, employees, and necessary knowledge, but it seemed like Agnes wasn’t paying attention to a single word she said.“To be completely honest, no. I don’t see the need to listen to you as if you were above me. I am fully aware of how to—”“I hold a higher position than you, as I am a general manager. So, watch your mouth and behave professionally. If you are unable to do so, perhaps it is best for you to quit.” Celene interrupted her mid-sentence, causing them both to stop walking in the empty hallway. They then turned to face each other, each raising an eyebrow in a challenge. “Where do you even get the audacity to ask my husband to give you a position in his company?”Agnes chuckled; her expression filled with a hint of condescending amusement. She folded her arms and took a step closer to Celene, leaning in towards her face.“I didn’t ask h

“LOVE, where are you?” Jarred asked through the phone call as Celene walked toward the jet bridge with her luggage in tow.“I’m about to board the plane. My flight will be nine hours and I have a meeting scheduled as soon as I land. It might be best for me to stay at the hotel later and return home tomorrow.”She wearily explained, exhausted from her hectic schedule. The never-ending meetings on this business trip left her with little time to rest and recharge, but at least she could catch up on some much-needed rest during the trip.“You sound exhausted, are you okay? Should I pick you up at the airport?” Celene’s heart warmed at the sound of her husband’s sweet and gentle voice. It was a reassuring reminder that their relationship was back to normal and continuously improving.“No, it’s alright. I’ll just catch a cab. I don’t want to interrupt your busy schedule trying to make up for the deal that fell through because of me.” she said, knowing how hard Jarred was working to land ano

“GOOD MORNING,” Celene opened her eyes to see Noah’s smile. It was infectious, and she couldn’t help but smile back at him as he looked at her with his head propped up on his hand, “How are you feeling?”“I’m feeling great, I feel refreshed,” she responded, closing one eye as he leaned in to plant a gentle kiss on her forehead.“That’s a relief. I was afraid that you’d be sore from last night,” he chuckled, remembering how they had made love again and again after taking a quick break. Celene’s cheeks instantly turned red as she too, remembered how wild their night was.Not only did they continue to engage in intimate activities, but they also did it without protection throughout the night.“I cooked us breakfast, let’s go downstairs before it gets cold.” Noah chuckled because he could tell that his wife was reminiscing their passionate encounter last night.Celene nodded and got up out of bed, stretching her limbs while yawning. She then made her way to the bathroom to freshen up befo

THE SOUND of the bed creaking and their heavy breathing filled the room as Noah and Celene lay intertwined together, enjoying every inch of each other’s bodies. Tender kisses covered their bare skin, leaving their lips red from kissing. Their fingers entangled in each other’s hair making them forget everything else in the world, and only they mattered to each other.“I love you so much,” Noah muttered between kisses as his lips met Celene’s. They were both completely intoxicated with passion and bliss, unable to keep themselves from moaning at each other’s touch. His tongue danced against hers before sliding into her mouth, causing her to shudder underneath his touch.“Nghh~ I love you, too,” Celene breathed out, her hips moving against his own. She wanted him desperately, she craved him constantly for the past days they were apart, and now that they were finally together, she couldn’t get enough of him.A small smile curved Noah’s lips as he lowered his mouth to her chest, gently kis

“MOM,” Celene called out when she entered the private room where her father was currently sleeping. “How’s Dad?”“He’s recovering well. According to the doctor, he should be able to go home in about a week if everything continues to improve as expected.” Isabelle replied and Celene felt a sense of relief. At least there was some good news amidst the unpleasantness that had filled her day so far.“I see, that’s good to know.” She smiled, “By the way Mom, I’ll be going back to the penthouse.”“Oh, Is Noah returning tonight?”“Yes, Mom. I just drop by here so I can tell you personally.” Celene smiled before kissing her mother on the cheek, “Tomorrow, I’ll visit again and take care of Dad so, you can go home and rest.”“All right,” Isabelle nodded in understanding, and Celene moved over to the bed to give her father a gentle kiss on the forehead. With a wish for his speedy recovery, she left the hospital, hoping to see him back to full health soon.“Let’s swing by my parents’ place first

THE SOUND of her phone ringing jolted Celene awake from her peaceful sleep. With a groan, she fumbled for her phone with one eye still closed. When she saw that it was Martin calling, she quickly answered and brought the phone to her ear.“Hello?” she greeted, her voice groggy as she rolled onto her back.“Good morning, Ma’am. I’m already on my way to your parents’ house. I’ll be there in 30 minutes.” The moment those words reached Celene's ears, she shot up and glanced at the clock on the bedside table to check the time.It was already 9:00 AM.“All right, call me again when you’re already here.” She jumped out of bed and hurried into the bathroom to freshen up before ending the call abruptly. She realized she had overslept and had to be somewhere by 10:00 am, but she had just woken up. She cursed under her breath and rushed to get ready before Martin came to pick her up.She quickly took care of her appearance, brushing her hair and changing into a new outfit. “CELENE!” Celene felt a surge of anxiety as she heard the desperation in Isabelle’s voice when she saw her rushing out of her father’s room with urgency.“W-what’s wrong? Did something happen to Dad?” she asked, her heart beating faster.“N-no, but he’s woken up.” Isabelle’s eyes welled up with tears, and Celene’s previously tense expression softened into one of relief.Together, they entered the room where Herman had finally awoken after a long period of sleep after his operation.“Dad,” She approached the bed, her eyes getting teary at the sight of him awake, “How are you feeling?”“Hmm, I’m feeling fine.” Herman’s lips curled into a smile as he extended his hand to gently brush his daughter’s cheek. He then turned to his wife, who was now overcome with emotion and tears. He tenderly touched Isabelle’s face just as he had done to Celene and smiled, “Dear, stop crying. I’m okay, I’m alive.”“I-I know, I’m just glad nothing bad happens to you.” she sobbed and Celene pursed her lips, t

THE AROMA of freshly brewed coffee greeted Noah as he entered the kitchen, where Celene was already busy making breakfast for them. He couldn’t resist wrapping his arms around her waist and planting a gentle kiss on her neck as he watched her cook.“Did you wake up early for this?” he asked and Celene nodded.“Yeah, I wanted to cook for you and eat breakfast together before you leave,” she answered before turning off the stove and facing him. She then wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down a bit so she could kiss him. “Let’s eat,”Noah gave a small nod and took a seat at the dining table. From there, he observed Celene as she finished arranging everything on the table. Once she was done, she joined him and started to eat together.“Are you going to work today?” he asked as he took a bite from his toast.“Yeah, I’m feeling fine now since I had plenty of sleep last night,” she replied, “After work,I’ll head directly to my parent’s house to drop off my bag before making a vi

“NO,” Celene’s response was firm and unwavering. She could see the desperation in Martha’s eyes, but she couldn’t bring herself to give in. After everything that had happened between her and Jarred, she didn’t owe them anything.“If that was your sole purpose for coming here, then you can go now. I have no intention of seeing your son ever again.” She added as she straightened her posture and went back to her swivel chair, “I have a lot on my plate already, so if you dare to show up here again, I’ll make sure that you and your son will never be able to escape the mess you’ve gotten yourselves into.”Martha winced at the harshness in her voice, but she remained resolute. She had to keep fighting for her son, no matter how much his ex-wife still despised them. It was a difficult battle, but she couldn’t give up.Watching Jarred struggle lately was devastating for Martha as a mother.
