Chapter 23

Caleb instinctively shut off the monitor, unable to bear looking at Marcus' eyes on the screen.

After a few moments, the creeping fear in his chest began to subside. He didn't have time to consider how Marcus knew the location of the cameras. He quickly got up and ran out through the front door of the library.

The correctional officer stationed at the stairs saw Caleb rushing out, his hand instinctively reaching for his baton.

He followed Caleb as he asked, "What's going on?"

Without looking back, Caleb continued running toward the recreation room. "I need to check out the recreation room."

Marcus' attempt to call Caleb to the recreation room could only mean one thing— His plan must have been to create a false impression of assault, making Caleb witness it, and then accuse Princess of indecent behavior.

But there were problems with this plan. Even if Princess were placed in solitary confinement, it would only be for a few days. Marcus' scheme would only serve as a temporary fix
