Once I walked out of the meeting, I immediately made my way to my private elevator with Joseph on one side and Robert on the other. Joseph pressed the ground floor button and the elevator started to descend. I glanced down to my watch on my left hand and find that it's approximately eleven am in the morning.
When I came in for the meeting earlier not many people were here because my business hours started at nine am for all employees. Only the essential people started earlier than usual. Now I knew it would be full of workers.
Once the elevator door opened, I walked out my heels clicking the smooth marble floor capturing the attention of my employees. Robert walked a step behind me to my right and Jason was my left next to me. I noticed the whispers starting in Italian as people began to notice me.
"Oh my, It's Miss Kingston!".
"That's Miss Kingston?! She's so young?".
"What is she doing at headquarters?".
"She's beautiful".
I paid no attention to their comments, as the whispering got louder and people peered at me in disbelief that I was actually here. However from the corner of my eye, I noticed a man that appeared to be in his late thirties pushing a boy who seemed fairly younger. The older man was shouting at him in Italian. I stopped in my tracks and observed them.
"How dare you? Did you think I hired you just to waste my time?! Huh! You can't even do one single task correctly! I asked you to make me a coffee with one sugar, not two!", He screeched as he began to raise his hand.
I quickly walked over to him and held his hand from behind.
The older man started to shake in anger. "Who fucking DARE stop me?" He swirled on the balls of his feet and made eye contact with me. The boy behind him also looked at me as his eyes widened in concern and he started to shake his head telling me not to get involved.
I glance back at the older man. "Who the fuck are you?" he asked his eyes narrowed in English - a heavy Italian accent coming through.
"What is your name sir?" I asked calmly as I removed my hand from his. The whole ground floor had gone quiet - it was so quiet that a pin drop could be heard.
"You don't know who I am? I work directly with Miss Kingston you brat. My name is Enzo Cosimo", He proudly announced before continuing, "Now how dare you interrupt my conversation with my assistant here. Besides who let sleazes like you into the building?", gasps could be heard from behind us at his comment.
He reached for my hand and gripped it tightly. Before he even had the chance to drag me, my whole security team surrounded us in a semi-circular formation, as two more removed his hands from mine and held them firmly behind his back.
"Let me go this instant!", he started thrashing in their arms, demanding at me. What an ignorant fool.
"Mr Cosimo, you state that you work directly with me, but how is it that I do not recognise you?"
"What? I don't work for yo- Oh my God", his face turned into one of horror as he stopped moving around as realisation struck him. "You're Miss Kingston" he stated looking at my bodyguards and then back to me.
I nodded once.
"M-Miss Ki-Kingston, there must be a mistake. I was just asking him to do something for me. I did nothing wrong", Enzo stumbled upon his words stuttering. I could see droplets of sweat accumulating on his forehead.
"That wasn't what it looked like to me. It seemed as if you were about to hit that gentleman?" I tilted my head to the right and saw the poor boy who was watching me in disbelief.
"No Ma'am, you can even ask him! I did no such thing. I am being accused of something I didn't do!"
"Do you take me a fool Mr Cosimo? Did you really think that I would not know Italian?" I inquired with a cold tone using his own mother tongue. His eyes widened further if that were possible.
"Uh-ahh-I", I held up a hand and he froze.
"I do not tolerate people who do not treat others with respect. Today not only you did not show respect to one of your colleagues, you also raised your hand to hit him. If I hadn't stepped in, what would have happened? Hmm?" I looked to his eyes in question. He stared as if he were about to wet himself. I carried on.
"I pay everyone that works for me at least five percentage above the normal average for an employee. Looking at your attire, I should believe that you are at least a manager in my company, yes?" He nodded.
"You have people that look up to you Mr Cosimo. If you do not treat them with respect how will they treat you with respect?. I can not have people like you tarnishing my business. I am not regretful to inform this but you are fired Mr Enzo Cosimo. You may leave immediately". He started crying.
"No Miss Kingston, this job I need it. I will try harder- please don't fire me!", Enzo shouted in despair.
"Leave". I repeated my voice icy cold. My bodyguards let his hands go as he started his walk towards the front entrance his head held down.
I turned back to face the poor kid. He eyes were grateful as he watched at me in awe. "I apologise that you had to go through something like that. I did not know that we had hired such undignified people. I will compensate you on this. What is your name sir?", I held out my hand for him to shake.
"Luca Valentino", he took my hand in his and shook it gently. I tilted my head to my left slightly and Joseph understood my instruction.
Joseph handed out his tablet for me as I studied Luca Valentino's profile. He was fairly young at only twenty- one years old. His credentials were incredible and had graduated from a prestigious university, I wondered why he was only an assistant and so I asked him.
"Miss Kingston, I need to make money and so I applied to any job available. My mom is in hospital and my younger sister is in High school. They both need me as our father left us for someone else. We've barely got a roof on our head.", he quietly whispered looking down at the floor. My heart broke for him.
I looked to Joseph, "Pay his bills for the hospital and his sisters school fees. Buy them a nice house in this area. I also want you to transfer him $100,000 to his account- get this done by the end of the day". Joseph nodded as he got on with the tasks.
Luca lifted his head up at me with wide eyes and shook his hands. "Miss Kingston, I can't possibly have you do this for me. It's too much!"
"Luca, please it's the least I can do after all you've had to deal with. Besides think of the money as compensation for Mr Cosimo's behaviour. You have commendable credentials and it would be a waste to stop you here. I can see from your application that it is your dream to work with my design team.", he gazed at me with hope shining.
"Well, congratulations Luca you are officially on the design team. I will have Joseph contact you later today with the details about what team you will be working with and your new pay rise. But for the rest of the week, take a holiday and you can come back to work on Monday. Spend some time with your family." I said softly.
"Thank you", Luca breathed out a whisper.
"You're very welcome".

"AV!", my younger brother Levi shouted at me as soon as I entered the Platinum suite at the hotel we were currently staying at. He was running with his little legs as fast as he could while Dave, one of my bodyguards that I assigned for him, chasing from behind.
I took a few steps before kneeling down and opening my arms wide open, just in time to catch his tiny frame. I let out a genuine laugh as I crushed him into me, hugging tightly. He was the only person that I smiled around now. After what happened four years ago, I blocked off everyone apart from Robert.
For the first month, I wouldn't speak to anyone about what had happened and just buried myself in work. I couldn't believe that I would never see them again - and every time I looked at Levi I would be reminded of my mother's last words before she left us, "Take care of Leviathan Roy Kingston, please baby".
I was a terrible sister at first, I wanted to grieve but the business was the only thing that was left of them and so I paid more attention to that. I had ignored Levi soon after he was born, because he looked so much like the both of them, it hurt me to even look at him. But Robert was there for him, taking care of him as my father and mother would me. I finally realised what I was doing after a month, when I looked at a month old Levi. It was that day as a thirteen year old, that I had promised to myself I would do anything to make him happy. I was his older sister, I would protect him.
"Av", Levi's small hands cupped my face grabbing my attention.
"Yes baby?"
"I'm not a baby Av", Levi whined. I laughed and kissed his forehead and lifted him up in my arms, walking to the kitchen. It was one pm and by the looks of Dave, it seemed like this little guy hadn't eaten.
I saw the bodyguards standing up straighter as I made my way towards the kitchen with Levi in my arms who was currently rambling about his day and how he played hide and seek with Dave.
"Have you eaten Levi?"
"I wanna eat with you, so I waited", he said adorably mispronouncing some of the words.
I sat him down on the kitchen counter and looked at him sternly. "You have to eat on time Levi, I might be late from work sometimes and you can't always wait for me- okay?", I said in a soft but stern voice.
"I'm sorry", he face bent down as he pouted.
Awww. I held his chin with my thumb and index finger and lifted his head to meet mine so I could look into his gorgeous hazel eyes that he inherited from our mother.
"It's okay baby, I'm not mad at you". I smiled softly.
"Hmph. I'm not a baby!", Levi crossed his arms as he looked away.
I chuckled and Robert laughed at us when he entered the kitchen. "Whatever you say chipmunk", I ruffled his hair.
"Hey!"
If someone had told me three months ago that I would have to leave London for my safety - I would have laughed. I was running away like a coward with my tail between my legs, instead of solving my problems. I didn't what was more insulting, the fact that I was the richest person in the world and couldn't solve a dispute. Or the fact that I was going to be attending High school in America when I have already graduated High school and have a Business and Computer science PhD. Looking at the preppy building in front of me, I could only hope that this will be enough to keep me safe until the threat subsided. I looked towards my left where Robert was driving toward the front entrance of the prestigious Lakeview Academy- my home for the next nine months. I sighed as I faced the front again taking into the vast fields that spanned the property, a football game that was in progress and the crowd going wild. "I don't understand why I have to attend High school when I have already learnt e
Looking down at my uniform, I could only be glad that there were no restrictions in the choice of our footwear. I was not prepared to wear heels on a daily basis, and would be much more comfortable in my boots. As long as they fit with the school code, it was acceptable. This was the only highlight of my morning, as I woke up late and proceeded to stump my pinkie toe on the bathroom door whilst trying to hurry. "Let's go, you have your first lesson with me", I turned my head towards Lena who was waiting for me to finish my breakfast. "What do we have first?", How this girl knew my schedule was beyond me, but then I saw her waving my schedule paper in front of my face. "AP Calculus". She smiled with twinkling eyes. She must be a fucking psychopath. Who liked calculus? We made our way toward the first period, Lena had her arm looped around mine and Tyler with his arm around my shoulder. Max and Harper separated from us in the opposite direction toward their first lessons after co
When I joined this elite school two days ago, my plan was to stay low under radar, until Robert found out who was threatening me so we can deal with the problem. Now looking at my business class which has all of my group and the Royal elites, I could only smell disaster. "Settle down children, today we have a new student". I waited by his desk as the class quietens down and rests their eyes on me. "Introduce yourself child", Mr Smith says softly. He was in his late thirty to early forties and by the permanent laughter lines on his face, anyone could tell he was a happy soul. I turn to address the class in front of me and speak monotonously. "Avalon Gracia" "Uh- do you want to add to that?", Mr Smith asked hesitantly. "I'm seventeen". He sighs. There were different expressions that rose through the class and one kid opened his mouth. "I just googled 'sexy' and a picture of you came up", he winks at me with a smirk whilst his friends whoop in the background. I wait for the
It was Friday today and that meant the weekend was right around the corner. I had already made plans to visit Levi at the new house that I had bought for him and Robert to stay in. I hoped that he liked his new school that he was attending. I was sorting out through my locker looking for my Chemistry books before I headed off to my next lesson. The halls were packed and teenagers were pushing each other to get to their next classes on time. I finally find my books and hold them with one hand whilst trying to close my locker door with the other. Someone from behind closes it for me. I rotate on the balls of my feet to find a guy standing there. He was a 6'0 redhead with green eyes. "Hey" "Hi", I greet him. "My name is James Rafael", I nod once. He looks around awkwardly before finding my eyes again. "So uhh, I was wondering if you could attend my party tonight?" "You want me to attend your party?", I was quite surprised to say the least. He only just met me and wanted me to
I was laying across Aspens bed in her room while trying to get at least some work done before the girls helped me get ready for the party. According to them my outfit that I had chosen was unacceptable. I was wearing a hoodie with skinny ripped jeans- I wanted to be comfortable. It wasn't like I didn't know what was to be expected at a Highschool party, I just wasn't planning on staying for long. A quick drop in, show my face and come right back out. But clearly that wasn't going to happen. They were running around Aspen's room like they were on fire, pulling at each other's hair, curling it, wearing make-up etc. There was at least three hours to go before we had to leave at nine pm. "What dress are you wearing?", I looked up from my phone to find Harper staring down at me in concentration. "Uhhh" "You haven't chosen one yet?" I gave her a sheepish smile. She lunges for my arm before shoving me into the closet where Aspen's dresses were. "Asp, Ava's going to borrow one of yo
When I woke up the next day with a headache, the first thing that I noticed was that I was not in my room. I looked around slowly as I took in the features of the room. It was filled with white dark greys, and black. The king sized bed which I was currently sleeping on- thankfully alone- was in the center of the room. There was two doors, one for the en-suite and the other for the walk in closet. The more I took in the structure and design of the room, I realised that I was back at the Academy. This must be someone else's room.I got out of the bed and realised that I was wearing someone else's clothes. Just what happened last night? There was a glass of water with two aspirins on the bedside table. I took them and opened the bedroom door, as I followed the music which lead me to the kitchen. This person was really clean I had noticed - the living room was spotless. Narrowing my eyes at the bright sunlight that was coming from the windows, I entered the kitchen to find a dancing Eli
When I thought back to Saturday, I hadn't realised that I should've asked Elijah what happened on Friday at the party. I hadn't. So when people stared at me with knowing eyes on Sunday evening, I had thought that there was something on my shirt. But then someone showed me the video. The video of me sucking Elijah's thumb. Holy fuck. Needless to say I immediately ran to my room and deleted the video from social media using my laptop. I was lucky in the fact that the video was taken at such a poor quality, and that my face was hidden but it was clear enough that my features were. If the person threatening me found out, it would only be a matter of time before they tracked my location. I sighed at my laptop in front of me and lift my head. There weren't many people in the library from what I can see. I was sat in a corner with my work sprawled around me. It was my free period and I was using it to look over the monthly revenues for my business. I was so concentrated into my work that I
Elijah's POVI remembered the first time I saw Avalon Gracia. I had come back from a business meeting that my father held at his company. It was late in the evening, but he still wanted to work. I could tell that the employees were tired but no one dared to voice their opinion- not even me. The man ran Easton's Designs with an iron fist. The company was the best in America, but William Easton was not satisfied. He wanted to be the best in the world. William Easton was not a caring towards myself or my mother- Maya Easton. My mother would tell me of stories when they had first met- of how loving and caring he would be towards her. It was hard for me to believe that this man would ever care for anyone other than his business. I admired his work ethic but it was just that. He only saw me as a successor for his company, constantly training me to take over in the future. He'd provide for what we needed, but never once stopped to notice that we needed him, as a part of our family. This ma
Thank you for choosing this book to read, and if you have gotten this far thank you for completing this book. I hope that this adventure is the one that had been what you were looking for and hopefully the ending satisfies you. Obviously as this is my first story that I had fully written, I felt that there were times when I wanted to give up because I couldn't find a good enough plot or had a writer's block, but I'm glad that I had given them their ending. Once again, thank you for your support. It really means a lot. Please feel free to comment about what your thoughts are about this book. YOLI2YOUTOOCompleted 15/11/2021
10 YEARS LATER"Are you ready yet?", my younger brother shouted from behind the door as I hurriedly wore my heels.Lena replied to Levi whilst I thanked my hair dressers for the big day. I turned to my best friends who were dressed in beautiful nude maxi dresses, both ready to be my bridesmaids. "Let's do this", I say nervously as I opened the door.Levi's eyes widened as he took in my appearance before walking towards me and offering his hand which I took. A gentle smile appeared on his face, "You look gorgeous sis".I gave my younger brother a smile of my own tilting my head up to face him. It was reminder that he had grown up, although still only fourteen, it was a reminder that ten years had passed since that horrible day. After I woke up from my coma of three months, it was hard. I felt that I was the same weak naive kid that I once was when I was twelve, who constantly put her barriers up so that no one could come in and hurt her if they left again. I felt so much anger at Kane
Elijah's POV When we reached the warehouse it was too quiet. Robert and the others quickly assessed the situation and surrounded the area. All of us went inside to find both Ava and Levi. It was only a matter of few minutes before we found her brother curled up in a corner of a cold room with a big gash on his left arm and tears running down his face. He flinched as I put my hand on his shoulder but raised his little head to look at me. Recognition passed through his eyes as he jumped into my arms tightly wrapping his arms around my neck whimpering. I passed him to Max and Ian who took him out per Roberts orders and back to the house to get him treated. He was too young for this. The rest of us quietly and quickly searched the other rooms for signs of Ava and found voices behind the massive double doors. Robert signed all of us to raise our weapons as we didn't know what was going on behind the doors but what we found was something unexpected. A bullet went through Avalon as we op
It took nearly half an hour before I reached the destination. I knew what I was doing was stupid, but I didn't have enough time to think logically when my little brother was in danger. When I had received the call from the unknown number, I knew it could only be Kane. He finally called after months for the first time to only make demands. The man wanted me to arrive alone at a given location within the hour, or otherwise Levi would be dead. I knew enough of Kane, to know that his threats were serious. However, I couldn't go alone without giving some sort of indication to Robert as to where I was, so I wrote down the address on a piece of paper before escaping. Now looking at the location, it looked to be an abandoned warehouse. There were holes in the walls, broken bricks scattered along the floor and not a soul in sight. I took a deep breath and stepped out of my car, making my way towards the entrance. The inside seemed to be even more filthy with dust accumulating around all corn
Elijah's POVFinding out that the girl you love had been lying to your face for over six months was not a good feeling. The betrayal and pain was all I could feel at that moment in time. I had been doubting myself for the past two weeks - questioning myself if I was worthy of her, that I had gotten so angry when the truth came into the light. The trust that we had was broken, like someone had shattered a porcelain glass on the floor. I was mad at her. Really fucking mad. But I wasn't going to walk out without an explanation, or rashly act out in anger. If I knew at least one percent of Avalon, she would have a reason. However when she told us why she was really here and what had been happening, I felt anger and frustration. Anger at myself for not realising what had been happening because I knew something had been bothering her. Frustration at her because she didn't want to talk to me because she thought it would put us in danger. I wasn't really mad at her anymore. She had done wha
I had pushed everyone away in these past two weeks. I could tell that they were worried at first, but as the second week pushed through- they wanted to know what was wrong. They all became irritated with my behaviour as I was constantly disappearing and always on my phone. Aspen barged into my room with Harper and Lena demanding to know what was wrong. Aspen thought that I was cheating on Elijah with Maxim. I could understand her concern because the timing was too convenient. I would never cheat on anyone. I knew what I felt for Elijah was more than just liking him. My mind knew that, and so did my heart. I just didn't know if what I felt for him was love. What I did know was that I wanted to stay this way forever. Being around Elijah Easton felt like home. It had been so long that I felt something as closely remote to this- I was stuck. Our worlds that resembled parallel lines suddenly intersected and any uniform balance that I had was thrown out the window. Everyday with him was
Elijah's POVIt had been a two weeks since the charity ball and everyone had noticed the change in Avalon. At first I just thought that maybe I was imagining things, or maybe she was at that time of month - but I knew that it wasn't just me who noticed these changes. It was as if I was back to square one.She had been pushing us all away, her blank emotionless eyes back and no emotion to show. I had thought that maybe if I gave her a bit of space, she'd come to me but I was so wrong. I don't know what to do. I had called my mom endless amounts of times, to ask her for advice but she just kept on saying to trust her and stay with her. I had thought that maybe I did something wrong, but I couldn't think of anything. She sat with us like she normally does but now always on her phone like when she first had started. My mood dropped every time she answered a phone call, always speaking in French or Russian. I was frustrated - jealous even. Why does she want to talk to them and not with me
The charity gala had begun two hours ago. We had been served dinner shortly after the welcome speech and as previously mentioned, the auction started an hour ago. The whole auction was a cover-up. People didn't want the items that were auctioned, they wanted to show their authority. It was a game of 'who has the most money'. It was so that other companies would notice theirs and maybe an opportunity for connections. During dinner, Elijah's parents joined us at our table. I had thought the others would sit and eat with us, but one look from William Easton was sufficient for our friends to run with their plates to another table. They did look guilty and slightly apologetic, but what for I don't know. We all ate in silence after introductions, but I could tell that William was observing me secretly. He was evaluating me. It wasn't until our main course had been bought, he decided to ask questions. The questions started off simple, like how did you get into school and what are your plan
The rest of the week flew by quickly, and it had been four days since I was attacked. I had called Robert immediately and had informed him of what happened. He was on high alert, and had increased the security that was surrounding the house with Levi. He had wanted me to pull out of the academy, but I couldn't because questions would rise at my abrupt disappearance. So he assigned three members from his team to follow me discreetly. The bruise on my waist hurted really bad on the first day and I had been limping slightly. Elijah noticed and asked me what was wrong, but I shrugged him off telling him it was nothing. However I could see the concern and worry in his eyes. Though now it had been four days, the bruise was nearly gone and there was only slight pain. "Are you nervous?", Elijah brought me closer to him and kissed my temple. "No", I sighed into shoulder my mind preoccupied. Joseph had called earlier today, arranging to meet me so that I could approve of the contract that w
