Looking down at my uniform, I could only be glad that there were no restrictions in the choice of our footwear. I was not prepared to wear heels on a daily basis, and would be much more comfortable in my boots. As long as they fit with the school code, it was acceptable. This was the only highlight of my morning, as I woke up late and proceeded to stump my pinkie toe on the bathroom door whilst trying to hurry.
"Let's go, you have your first lesson with me", I turned my head towards Lena who was waiting for me to finish my breakfast.
"What do we have first?", How this girl knew my schedule was beyond me, but then I saw her waving my schedule paper in front of my face.
"AP Calculus". She smiled with twinkling eyes. She must be a fucking psychopath. Who liked calculus?
We made our way toward the first period, Lena had her arm looped around mine and Tyler with his arm around my shoulder. Max and Harper separated from us in the opposite direction toward their first lessons after confirming they will see us at lunch.
We rounded the corner of the hallway and made our way to the classroom where Tyler opened the door. The twins guided me near the back and placed their bags on the desks and I followed suit.
"Are you nervous for your first official day at the academy?"
I glanced at both of them for a few seconds before answering. "Slightly".
Tyler offered a reassuring smile. "You'll be fine, it's like any other school. Besides we'll be here with you".
Our conversation was cut short as the teacher entered through the door.
_____
The first three lessons ran smoothly and I was currently sat in my fourth. This was the last lesson before lunch. None of the others took computer science and technology, so I was sat alone at the back of the room. But I had noticed that Jaxon Walters also took this elective.
i glanced at the clock at the front of the room which showed that there were only ten minutes left before lunch. I wasn't really paying attention to what was being taught as I already knew the content. Thus, I was on my laptop improving my latest designs, before analysing the latest reports that were sent by Joseph to make sure everything was smooth.
"Class dismissed everyone, I'll see you tomorrow".
I packed my belongings as the bell rang trying to make my way through the horde of students in the hallways and headed for the cafeteria. My head was down as I furiously typed on my phone sending an email to Joseph regarding the latest reports. Writing in my inputs, and telling him to edit the mistakes and discuss why these problems arose with my head manager Carlos, from the European district. As soon as I send my email, I bumped into someone and stumbled backwards.
"I'm sorr-" I began raising my head, only to be cut off by some girl with six inch heels, reaching my natural height at 5'10. A glare was across her face which I'm guessing was supposed to be intimidating aimed directed at me.
"Watch where you're going bitch", she spat as her eyes observed me in distaste.
"I was trying to apologise before you interrupted me", I maintained my eye contact with her as I give her a blank face. One thing I hated the most were people who thought they were better than someone else, or those who bullied people. I could already tell that this girl- whomever she was, was spoilt.
"How dare you answer back, do you know who I am! I'm Iris Reyes, I could ruin your pathetic existence in a second. Wait- who are you?" She screeched in the corridor, her loyal lackeys flanking her sides as they all looked at me expectantly.
We were gathering a crowd.
"Avalon Gracia". I replied in a calm collected manner- if only she knew who exactly she was talking to.
"Oh you're the peasant that the school decided to pick up on". She walked closer to me with confidence until she was near my face. I could smell her overpowering perfume. I held my breath.
She shoved a finger to my shoulder. "Listen here trash, do not mess with me - take this as a warning an-"
"What's going on here?", a deep voice interrupted her, and we all turned our head towards the source. It was him - Elijah Easton.
Iris Reyes practically skipped over and clung on his arm like a blood sucking leech before her water-works activated. I could see she has picked up her acting skills from her father, who was a famous actor.
"Oh Eli, it's her fault...", she sniffled. "She bumped into me and I tried to apologise before she started being rude to me and calling me dumb! She even broke my nail!, it costs two thousand dollars!". Fat tears rolled down her cheeks as her lackeys tried to calm her down, at the same time glaring at me. The crowd was quiet for Elijah's response. From the corner of my eye, I could see my group huddled waiting for the show.
I looked back to Iris, who now had a smug look on her face as if to say 'you're over bitch'. Elijah stared at me with an emotionless mask, as do his group from behind him. He removed Iris' hand before walking over and standing next to me, facing the crowd.
His gaze hardened over to Iris, who now gulped in fear. "I saw what happened Iris Reyes", he sneered her name, "as did everyone. You were wrong and what was it you said? Peasant? What's wrong with a scholarship?".
I tilted my head slightly to his 6'3 height with my eyes furrowed in confusion, I was pretty sure that information was not shared during this confrontation.
"It shows that she has a brain. If I so much as hear you threaten her again, I will be the one to ruin your pathetic existence. Am I clear?". He glared at her as the crowds jaws dropped simultaneously. Even his friends looked at him with surprise.
"Oh and do not call me Eli. Now scram!", and just like that everyone ran away from the scene. The only remaining people were the Royal elites, and my group. He turned to face me, "Are you okay?".
"Yes, thank you although I could have handled the situation myself". I respond to him.
"Elijah Easton", he smirked with his hand held out for me to shake.
"Avalon Gracia but I'm guessing you already knew that", I nodded taking his hand. He eyes widened in surprise at my statement. I explained his unasked question further, "You knew I was a scholarship student".
His smirk widened. From this angle, I could see his long eyelashes that covered his eyes. I had thought that his eyes were plain grey, but by being this close I could tell they were anything but. There were undertones of blue in the center before they faded into grey. I broke my stare with him and let his hand go. "Well, we must get going. Thank you again Elijah".
He nodded while putting his arms into his pockets. "See you soon cupcake", he said as we started to walk away from him.
I froze slightly at the nickname and turned my head over my shoulder, "My name is Avalon not cupcake. Oh, and next time let me handle my own fights".
I turned back to my group as we made our way to the cafeteria in silence. I felt his stare on my back burning the whole way.

"Do you understand how big of a deal this is?" Harper exclaimed with frantic hands flapping like a bird. We were currently in the 'entertainment room' lounging on some of the sofas. It was long after dinner, and as much as I would like to rest in my room and complete my work that was pending, it seemed like I had no choice as I was dragged here by Harper and Lena.
"No, I really don't understand". I replied as I kept my eyes trained on my phone to analyse the digital reports just sent in from Tristan.
"He never, never, ever stands up for someone. Hell, none of them do! They never get involved in other people's business. You're the first! You must've done something to them, think!" Lena practically shook my whole body by holding my shoulders.
"Or... you've caught his eye", Tyler inputted calmly looking at me.
I glanced at him briefly. "Oh no!, not my baby. I won't let him take you away from me!". Max dove on the sofa before crushing me in his arms, squeezing the life out of me.
It took them at least five minutes before his arms were removed from me, all the while Max whispering how he wouldn't let them take me away from him.
I slightly glared at Max, making him freeze with wide doe like eyes as he tried to appear innocent. I opened my mouth, but my ringtone interrupted the silence as I looked down to my phone.
It was Joseph. "Well I must take this call, so I will see you all tomorrow. Goodnight". With this I made my way out of the entertainment room and walked back to my dorm to answer the call in privacy.
I could hear Harper running after Max in the background whilst he was trying to escape from her abuse.
When I joined this elite school two days ago, my plan was to stay low under radar, until Robert found out who was threatening me so we can deal with the problem. Now looking at my business class which has all of my group and the Royal elites, I could only smell disaster. "Settle down children, today we have a new student". I waited by his desk as the class quietens down and rests their eyes on me. "Introduce yourself child", Mr Smith says softly. He was in his late thirty to early forties and by the permanent laughter lines on his face, anyone could tell he was a happy soul. I turn to address the class in front of me and speak monotonously. "Avalon Gracia" "Uh- do you want to add to that?", Mr Smith asked hesitantly. "I'm seventeen". He sighs. There were different expressions that rose through the class and one kid opened his mouth. "I just googled 'sexy' and a picture of you came up", he winks at me with a smirk whilst his friends whoop in the background. I wait for the
It was Friday today and that meant the weekend was right around the corner. I had already made plans to visit Levi at the new house that I had bought for him and Robert to stay in. I hoped that he liked his new school that he was attending. I was sorting out through my locker looking for my Chemistry books before I headed off to my next lesson. The halls were packed and teenagers were pushing each other to get to their next classes on time. I finally find my books and hold them with one hand whilst trying to close my locker door with the other. Someone from behind closes it for me. I rotate on the balls of my feet to find a guy standing there. He was a 6'0 redhead with green eyes. "Hey" "Hi", I greet him. "My name is James Rafael", I nod once. He looks around awkwardly before finding my eyes again. "So uhh, I was wondering if you could attend my party tonight?" "You want me to attend your party?", I was quite surprised to say the least. He only just met me and wanted me to
I was laying across Aspens bed in her room while trying to get at least some work done before the girls helped me get ready for the party. According to them my outfit that I had chosen was unacceptable. I was wearing a hoodie with skinny ripped jeans- I wanted to be comfortable. It wasn't like I didn't know what was to be expected at a Highschool party, I just wasn't planning on staying for long. A quick drop in, show my face and come right back out. But clearly that wasn't going to happen. They were running around Aspen's room like they were on fire, pulling at each other's hair, curling it, wearing make-up etc. There was at least three hours to go before we had to leave at nine pm. "What dress are you wearing?", I looked up from my phone to find Harper staring down at me in concentration. "Uhhh" "You haven't chosen one yet?" I gave her a sheepish smile. She lunges for my arm before shoving me into the closet where Aspen's dresses were. "Asp, Ava's going to borrow one of yo
When I woke up the next day with a headache, the first thing that I noticed was that I was not in my room. I looked around slowly as I took in the features of the room. It was filled with white dark greys, and black. The king sized bed which I was currently sleeping on- thankfully alone- was in the center of the room. There was two doors, one for the en-suite and the other for the walk in closet. The more I took in the structure and design of the room, I realised that I was back at the Academy. This must be someone else's room.I got out of the bed and realised that I was wearing someone else's clothes. Just what happened last night? There was a glass of water with two aspirins on the bedside table. I took them and opened the bedroom door, as I followed the music which lead me to the kitchen. This person was really clean I had noticed - the living room was spotless. Narrowing my eyes at the bright sunlight that was coming from the windows, I entered the kitchen to find a dancing Eli
When I thought back to Saturday, I hadn't realised that I should've asked Elijah what happened on Friday at the party. I hadn't. So when people stared at me with knowing eyes on Sunday evening, I had thought that there was something on my shirt. But then someone showed me the video. The video of me sucking Elijah's thumb. Holy fuck. Needless to say I immediately ran to my room and deleted the video from social media using my laptop. I was lucky in the fact that the video was taken at such a poor quality, and that my face was hidden but it was clear enough that my features were. If the person threatening me found out, it would only be a matter of time before they tracked my location. I sighed at my laptop in front of me and lift my head. There weren't many people in the library from what I can see. I was sat in a corner with my work sprawled around me. It was my free period and I was using it to look over the monthly revenues for my business. I was so concentrated into my work that I
Elijah's POVI remembered the first time I saw Avalon Gracia. I had come back from a business meeting that my father held at his company. It was late in the evening, but he still wanted to work. I could tell that the employees were tired but no one dared to voice their opinion- not even me. The man ran Easton's Designs with an iron fist. The company was the best in America, but William Easton was not satisfied. He wanted to be the best in the world. William Easton was not a caring towards myself or my mother- Maya Easton. My mother would tell me of stories when they had first met- of how loving and caring he would be towards her. It was hard for me to believe that this man would ever care for anyone other than his business. I admired his work ethic but it was just that. He only saw me as a successor for his company, constantly training me to take over in the future. He'd provide for what we needed, but never once stopped to notice that we needed him, as a part of our family. This ma
Two more weeks had passed by quickly, and I was at Lakeview Academy for a total of a month and a half. Each day was the same, I would wake up, go to lessons, collect homework and finish it, do my actual work until late hours at night before sleeping and it repeats the next day. It had also been two weeks since I had seen Levi. Now that we've found out who the person was, I had to be careful not to be spotted with Levi regularly because it would only put him in harm's way. The four year old didn't understand, of course, and threw tantrums but I had managed to calm him down by video calling him every night. These were my favourite parts of the day. What was different though within these two weeks, was that there were rumours about how I had achieved a scholarship to the prestigious school. At first people believed that it was my academic ability that landed this scholarship, but now they believe otherwise. Apparently, I had slept with the Dean to get into school and Elijah because t
The weekend ended in the blink of an eye after that. Lijah stayed over on saturday and we shared the cookie dough ice-cream whilst watching some horror film on netflix. I was trying to watch it, and he kept on distracting me.At some point I ended up falling asleep on his shoulder with his arm around me, tucking me into him. When I woke up the next day at six am as per my daily routine, I was in my bed and him sprawling across my sofa. As a generous host, I made him some breakfast and then kicked him out of my room after he'd woken up at ten because I had work that needed to be done. He really wasn't happy about that, but we don't all get what we always want. Now I was sitting in my English Literature class on a Monday morning, the bleak grey clouds scattering the sky and rain pouring down like there's no tomorrow. It was dampening my mood further as I look out of the window. I had Austin in this class, as well as Elijah whom both I did not notice before. They were both sitting on e
Thank you for choosing this book to read, and if you have gotten this far thank you for completing this book. I hope that this adventure is the one that had been what you were looking for and hopefully the ending satisfies you. Obviously as this is my first story that I had fully written, I felt that there were times when I wanted to give up because I couldn't find a good enough plot or had a writer's block, but I'm glad that I had given them their ending. Once again, thank you for your support. It really means a lot. Please feel free to comment about what your thoughts are about this book. YOLI2YOUTOOCompleted 15/11/2021
10 YEARS LATER"Are you ready yet?", my younger brother shouted from behind the door as I hurriedly wore my heels.Lena replied to Levi whilst I thanked my hair dressers for the big day. I turned to my best friends who were dressed in beautiful nude maxi dresses, both ready to be my bridesmaids. "Let's do this", I say nervously as I opened the door.Levi's eyes widened as he took in my appearance before walking towards me and offering his hand which I took. A gentle smile appeared on his face, "You look gorgeous sis".I gave my younger brother a smile of my own tilting my head up to face him. It was reminder that he had grown up, although still only fourteen, it was a reminder that ten years had passed since that horrible day. After I woke up from my coma of three months, it was hard. I felt that I was the same weak naive kid that I once was when I was twelve, who constantly put her barriers up so that no one could come in and hurt her if they left again. I felt so much anger at Kane
Elijah's POV When we reached the warehouse it was too quiet. Robert and the others quickly assessed the situation and surrounded the area. All of us went inside to find both Ava and Levi. It was only a matter of few minutes before we found her brother curled up in a corner of a cold room with a big gash on his left arm and tears running down his face. He flinched as I put my hand on his shoulder but raised his little head to look at me. Recognition passed through his eyes as he jumped into my arms tightly wrapping his arms around my neck whimpering. I passed him to Max and Ian who took him out per Roberts orders and back to the house to get him treated. He was too young for this. The rest of us quietly and quickly searched the other rooms for signs of Ava and found voices behind the massive double doors. Robert signed all of us to raise our weapons as we didn't know what was going on behind the doors but what we found was something unexpected. A bullet went through Avalon as we op
It took nearly half an hour before I reached the destination. I knew what I was doing was stupid, but I didn't have enough time to think logically when my little brother was in danger. When I had received the call from the unknown number, I knew it could only be Kane. He finally called after months for the first time to only make demands. The man wanted me to arrive alone at a given location within the hour, or otherwise Levi would be dead. I knew enough of Kane, to know that his threats were serious. However, I couldn't go alone without giving some sort of indication to Robert as to where I was, so I wrote down the address on a piece of paper before escaping. Now looking at the location, it looked to be an abandoned warehouse. There were holes in the walls, broken bricks scattered along the floor and not a soul in sight. I took a deep breath and stepped out of my car, making my way towards the entrance. The inside seemed to be even more filthy with dust accumulating around all corn
Elijah's POVFinding out that the girl you love had been lying to your face for over six months was not a good feeling. The betrayal and pain was all I could feel at that moment in time. I had been doubting myself for the past two weeks - questioning myself if I was worthy of her, that I had gotten so angry when the truth came into the light. The trust that we had was broken, like someone had shattered a porcelain glass on the floor. I was mad at her. Really fucking mad. But I wasn't going to walk out without an explanation, or rashly act out in anger. If I knew at least one percent of Avalon, she would have a reason. However when she told us why she was really here and what had been happening, I felt anger and frustration. Anger at myself for not realising what had been happening because I knew something had been bothering her. Frustration at her because she didn't want to talk to me because she thought it would put us in danger. I wasn't really mad at her anymore. She had done wha
I had pushed everyone away in these past two weeks. I could tell that they were worried at first, but as the second week pushed through- they wanted to know what was wrong. They all became irritated with my behaviour as I was constantly disappearing and always on my phone. Aspen barged into my room with Harper and Lena demanding to know what was wrong. Aspen thought that I was cheating on Elijah with Maxim. I could understand her concern because the timing was too convenient. I would never cheat on anyone. I knew what I felt for Elijah was more than just liking him. My mind knew that, and so did my heart. I just didn't know if what I felt for him was love. What I did know was that I wanted to stay this way forever. Being around Elijah Easton felt like home. It had been so long that I felt something as closely remote to this- I was stuck. Our worlds that resembled parallel lines suddenly intersected and any uniform balance that I had was thrown out the window. Everyday with him was
Elijah's POVIt had been a two weeks since the charity ball and everyone had noticed the change in Avalon. At first I just thought that maybe I was imagining things, or maybe she was at that time of month - but I knew that it wasn't just me who noticed these changes. It was as if I was back to square one.She had been pushing us all away, her blank emotionless eyes back and no emotion to show. I had thought that maybe if I gave her a bit of space, she'd come to me but I was so wrong. I don't know what to do. I had called my mom endless amounts of times, to ask her for advice but she just kept on saying to trust her and stay with her. I had thought that maybe I did something wrong, but I couldn't think of anything. She sat with us like she normally does but now always on her phone like when she first had started. My mood dropped every time she answered a phone call, always speaking in French or Russian. I was frustrated - jealous even. Why does she want to talk to them and not with me
The charity gala had begun two hours ago. We had been served dinner shortly after the welcome speech and as previously mentioned, the auction started an hour ago. The whole auction was a cover-up. People didn't want the items that were auctioned, they wanted to show their authority. It was a game of 'who has the most money'. It was so that other companies would notice theirs and maybe an opportunity for connections. During dinner, Elijah's parents joined us at our table. I had thought the others would sit and eat with us, but one look from William Easton was sufficient for our friends to run with their plates to another table. They did look guilty and slightly apologetic, but what for I don't know. We all ate in silence after introductions, but I could tell that William was observing me secretly. He was evaluating me. It wasn't until our main course had been bought, he decided to ask questions. The questions started off simple, like how did you get into school and what are your plan
The rest of the week flew by quickly, and it had been four days since I was attacked. I had called Robert immediately and had informed him of what happened. He was on high alert, and had increased the security that was surrounding the house with Levi. He had wanted me to pull out of the academy, but I couldn't because questions would rise at my abrupt disappearance. So he assigned three members from his team to follow me discreetly. The bruise on my waist hurted really bad on the first day and I had been limping slightly. Elijah noticed and asked me what was wrong, but I shrugged him off telling him it was nothing. However I could see the concern and worry in his eyes. Though now it had been four days, the bruise was nearly gone and there was only slight pain. "Are you nervous?", Elijah brought me closer to him and kissed my temple. "No", I sighed into shoulder my mind preoccupied. Joseph had called earlier today, arranging to meet me so that I could approve of the contract that w
