[Gabrielle’s POV]

I stare in disbelief as Trent watches me with a serious expression on his face. He was actually being serious here. He wasn’t going to do anything with me. Was he crazy?

“That’s silly,” I sigh, wanting a distraction from the torrent of emotions I was feeling. “We live in the twenty-first century, where that shit isn’t needed. Just a meal and a movie is enough to lead back to the bedroom and…”

As I speak, I touch his chest and begin to move my hand down to his stomach, but before I can go any further, his hand wraps around my wrist and stops me.

“I’m serious, Gab,” he says, though his eyes sparkle with desire. “Maybe that was how all those other bastards did with you, but I’m not them, and I have morals I will stick by.”

Pouting, I pull my hand free and stand.

Well, this evening was officially ruined.

“You’re missing out.” I announce, giving Trent a look. “Don’t regret it.”

At my words, a slow smile begins to spread across his face, and I feel myself falling. Shit. He

[Gabrielle’s POV]Later, after a quick change, I sit in the front seat of Trent’s car as he silently drives, heading toward the doctors, which he insists I should be seen by. Although I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that he was going this far, I was finding he was stubborn when he wanted something. It was nothing like when we were kids, and he would back down easily.“Don’t stare at me like that,” he chuckles now, snapping me back to reality.“I don’t know what you mean.” I counter, blushing ever so slightly. “Who was looking at you?”“The stubborn woman in my passenger seat,” he chuckles, placing a hand on my thigh and giving it a squeeze. However, instead of removing it once he has finished squeezing, he leaves it in place, and despite him doing such an intimate thing, I don’t argue or try to knock it off. In a way, it is comforting to have his touch there, confirming once again that he really was here with me after being gone for so many years. You’re too easy. I huff inward

[Gabrielle’s POV]I keep my gaze fixed on Rachelle as she steps out of the room, and when a sudden wave of dizziness hits me, I turn to find that the nurse is putting something in my IV.“What is that?” I demand as my ears begin to ring. “What are you putting in there?”“Just something to help you relax.” She assures me.“Don’t give the lady a hard time for doing her job, Gab.” Gregory says, touching my arm. “Just try to relax.”Relax. How could I possibly relax when Trent was laid up in a coma in the room right next to me? All I wanted to do was go to his side and beg him to wake up. After all, it was my fault we were even out. It was because of my wrecklessness.“But Trent,” I murmur as my vision blurs. “I have to go and...”The rest of my words turn into garbled gibberish as the world around me slowly begins to disappear, fading into nothing but a hazy darkness that slowly consumes me.As I fade in and out of consciousness, I can hear movement, and I feel like my body is being move

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   Memories

[Trent’s POV]I’m sitting in a familiar kitchen, in front of a familiar kitchen. My mother stands in front of the stove cooking, and my stepsister Trudy sits across from me coloring. I remember this moment vividly, as it was the day that my life changed completely. However, I don’t understand why I’m here or why I’m reliving this when all I could remember was Gabby’s scared face as she screamed for me before my world went dark.Feeling my heart kick up speed, I jump up from where I’m sitting and rush outside, where I find a teenage Gabby waiting for me.“About time,” she huffs, hoisting her bag over her shoulder. “I was beginning to think you went on without me.”As she talks, she lifts a hand and brushes her hair down in an attempt to hide finger-shaped bruises on her neck. This was a habit of hers when her father would be too drunk and take his anger out on her and her mom, but no amount of begging convinced her to let me call the police as she feared that her father would really do

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   Recruit Help

[Trent’s POV]I watch Rachelle as she tries to calm down while my mother makes comforting noises, and once she is calm enough, she looks to me and back.“It’s Gabby,” she begins, her voice quivering. “I only left her for a moment, and when I returned, she was gone.”“Gone,” my mother repeats, confusion lacing her words. “Have you asked the nurses if she was possibly taken somewhere? She was in that wreck with Trent as well, no?”“Yes,” Rachelle confirms. “But the nurses I spoke with have no idea where she went. “They said that she wasn’t scheduled for any tests. The man who was with her is gone too. I’m afraid he may…”“May what?” My mother asks. “Who was this man?”As she asks this question, I look to the side and realize that my phone is sitting on the table beside me. Reaching out, I grab it and then begin to type. Once I’ve written what I need, I grunt, drawing Rachelle and my mother’s attention toward me.Lifting the phone, I wait until my mother reaches out and begins to read. W

[Gabrielle’s POV]My fault. Was he really saying that his kidnapping me like this was my fault? What the hell was this man smoking, and why did I not notice that he was crazy?Because he did a damn good job of tricking me. I think inwardly. Did this mean that I was a horrible judge of character? First, Trent, and now Gregory.No. Trent was nothing like Gregory. It was cruel to him to even compare him like that. And even if Trent unintentionally hurt me emotionally, he would never hurt physically, but I was so certain that Gregory wouldn’t.“Can’t you see?” Gregory says, drawing me back to the present. “If you just stayed with me, then none of this would have happened.”For a moment, I’m not sure who he is trying to convince of this himself or me.“Can’t you see she’s scared?” he buddy calls, though he isn’t doing anything to help me. “I think you should tone it down a bit.”As he speaks, his gaze comes to rest on me, and when it starts to travel up and down my body, I know exactly wha

[Gabrielle’s POV]My stomach turns on me as Alton attempts to pick me up, and before he can even touch me, I’m heaving and gagging until my head spins.“Shit,” Alton hisses, hovering around me, trying to determine what to do. “Are you alright? Tell me what I can do to help you.”“Get me out of here.” I whisper between dry heaves. “Please, just get me out of here.”“Yes, ma'am,” he announces, but stops as the door to the room bursts open and more gunfire sounds.Instantly, a hiss of shock escapes Alton before he clutches his arm.Eyes flashing, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a gun, and while I watch in horror, he begins to fire it toward Gregory’s friend, who has come to see what’s going on.“Stay down.” Alton tells me as if I can go anywhere given my bindings. “I’ll handle this.”Unable to do anything more, I nod, closing my eyes tight as Alton fires off a few shots again, and when I hear the sound of a body hitting the ground, I know that Gregory’s friend is no longer an is

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   A Ruined Moment

[Trent’s POV]Murmuring drifts in and out of my haziness, slowly rousing me until I can pry my eyes open enough to stare up at the dark roof of my hospital room. For a moment, I just stare as everything that happened before I passed out again comes back to me, and before I can stop myself, I’m sitting up.“Gabby!”Her name escapes me, causing a coughing fit that damn near kills me until someone is passing me a cup of water. Not hesitating, I take it and bring its straw to my lips so I can take a few long gulps until the itching in my throat has stopped.“Thanks,” I rasp, feeling a wave of relief that the breathing tube is no longer there. “I appre…”I don’t finish my words as I take in the one who handed me the drink and feel a wave of relief slam into me.“Hey,” Gabby smiles as I just stare at her. “Good morning.”For a moment, I don’t speak; I just simply stare, wondering if what I was seeing was real or a figment of my imagination given the situation before I was knocked out.“Are

[Gabrielle’s POV]“So this is how you’re going to act?”Rachelle’s voice echoes behind me as I stop in front of a snack machine and begin to examine it like I’m actually planning to get something while I try to calm the emotions that are building in me.So that was Katie. That beautiful, sophisticated woman was the person Trent’s father wanted him to marry. And the woman that he dated in the past, not only dated, but even...No. Don’t go there, Gabrielle; thinking such things is only going to make me feel worse. Especially when her...I look down, taking in my breasts while Katie’s larger ones pop into my mind.“Dammit!” I growl, slamming a hand against the snack machine in front of me.“Down, girl,” Rachelle sighs, reaching out and wrapping an arm around me. “That poor machine didn’t do anything to you.”“I know,” I grumble, allowing her to lead me to a table where I flop down and lay my head on the cold wood, hoping that it will cool my anger. “Rachelle,” I continue, shifting my gaz

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   Vacation Part 2

[Gabrielle’s POV]I wait and watch as Trent processes what I’ve just told him. Even with the dim light casting shadows on his handsome face, I can see the desire that is beginning to form there.Dammit. How in the world was he able to remain strong up until this point, and why did his sticking to his word make me feel both loved and rejected? I hated these swirling emotions that I never would have had when we were younger.Back then, I knew that I was in fact his everything and that he only thought of me and no one else, but now he had a taste of another woman, and that scared the shit out of me.Maybe that was why I was willing to push his buttons like this, testing the waters, seeing if I could break his strong resolve, even if it only caused me to continue coming up empty.“Dammit, Gabby,” Trent hisses, his eyes flashing with lust. “We’re already this close; why do you have to continue to try to tempt me?”“Because I’m insecure.” I whisper, unable to stand it any longer. “I hate th

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   Vacation Part 1

[Trent’s POV]After our first night of passion, I slowly come to find that Gabby is insatiable. Anytime I turned around, she was wanting to touch me, to kiss me, and to do other things to me that drove me so fucking crazy but also excited me just the same. Was this need to constantly be attacking me stemming from how much she missed me? Or how much she cared about me? I wasn’t so sure, but despite all of this, we never went all the way. However, we did do many things, many, many things, on almost every surface of my home, and by the time the day of departure for our vacation came, I was almost ready to just take her right then and there on the plane.I was certain that she was feeling the same way as me, as I found her gaze locked on a certain part of me more than a few times. That’s why, by the time we landed at our destination, I was strongly considering skipping all the things I planned and just keeping her trapped in the bed with me all day and night, but I manage to remain under

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   Only Me

[Gabrielle’s POV]I let a smile play on my lips as I pull Trent’s belt out of the way and start to undo his pants. As I move, I can feel the bulge that is forming there and know that despite his insistence he was fine, he wasn’t doing well at all.“You can stop me any time.” I whisper, slowly slithering my body down his until I’m on my knees in front of him. “I won’t make you do something you don’t want to.”Growing quiet, I wait as he stares down at me, taking me in with so much hunger it makes my heart and my core squeeze.God. I just wanted to jump this man. I wanted to see more of his expressions, see that desire for me in his eyes more. I wanted to breathe him in until I had my fill, but I didn’t think that would ever be happening.“Is your silence the go ahead?” I giggle, hooking my fingers in his now-loose pants. For a moment, I don’t move while he just continues to stare at me, and when he lifts his hips, I know that he isn’t going to stop me, not this time.Smiling seductivel

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   Need

[Gabrielle’s POV]I sit in Trent’s lap, listening to the sound of his strong heartbeat as the silence of the room around us settles in. We’ve been sitting here just like this for a while, probably because Trent is waiting for me to make the first move to show that I’m okay. After having our night out ruined by Katie, our group split ways, each going to their respective homes so that Rachelle and I could rest and recuperate from what happened to us. And even though I was thankful to be in the safety of the home that Trent and I shared, I couldn’t help but wonder whether or not anything was being done to Katie after what she did.Deciding that wasn’t what was important right now, I curl in closer to Trent and close my eyes.“Are you sure you’re okay?”How many times now has Trent asked me this very question? For most of the ride home, he asked me, and although I insisted I was fine, he wouldn’t drop it, which was both endearing and a little frustrating.“I am.” I say quietly, lifting my

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   A Failed Plan

[Katie’s POV]I stare in disbelief as Trent glares at me. How could he look at me so hatefully? This was all that bitches fault!“Trent!” I repeat, reaching out in an attempt to touch him only to be stopped by a look of warning.“I said I’d deal with you later.” He repeats slowly while pulling the bitch closer against him. “So, I suggest you come up with a damn good story.”Finished speaking, he turns and begins to move while I’m left standing in place with the two that not only failed to complete the mission they were given but would also incriminate me if they were to be taken away and questioned.Knowing that I couldn’t possibly let that happen, I pull my phone out of my pocket and immediately dial Oscar, knowing that he will help me deal with this.“Hello, beautiful.” He chuckles the minute he picks up. “Tell me, are you the one responsible for the trouble I’m suffering?”“And if I am?” I challenge.“You’ll have to repay me for my bailing you out.” He says slowly, and I don’t miss

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   Caught Red-Handed

[Trent’s POV]“Do you think they’re taking a bit?”Hanson’s question rings out around us, filling the silence that has fallen in the room we sit together in. He was right; it had been a bit since the women went to the bathroom.“Maybe Gabby was worse off than we thought.” I mutter, panic growing. “I’m going to go check on her.”Maybe I was being a bit overprotective or just worrying for absolutely nothing, but I just couldn’t stop myself when it came to her.“Whipped.”The word is quiet, as is the chuckle that comes with it, but I don’t give two shits. He could call me what he wanted, and I would happily accept it.“Probably,” I admit, getting up and heading toward the exit. “I’ll be back.”Not waiting for a response, I head out into the hall and then toward the bathroom, where Gabby, Rachelle, and Katie should be. And when I reach, I don’t think twice before I’m heading in. However, I’m met with an empty space and empty stalls except for a single one.“Gabby.” I call, heading toward

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   Her Plan

[Katie’s POV]I stand outside of the room, listening as everyone present mocks me. It pisses me off, and I have the right mind to go in there and scold them, but in the end that would only make me look more like the villain. I needed to remain composed and in control so that Trent didn’t see me acting like a bitch again; one time was more than enough. That’s why I put a smile on my face now and then head inside, drawing all eyes to me.“Drink’s are here.” I announce moving forward. “Here you are.”Keeping my perfect smile in place, I move around, handing out drinks, making sure that the right ones went to the right people. And when I reach Gabrielle, I’m certain that she gets the one just for her before moving onto her friend; if I remember correctly, everyone called her Rachelle.“Here you are, Rachelle, right?”“That’s right.” She smiles, taking her drink. “And this man beside me is my boyfriend Hanson.”“It’s a pleasure,” I say, handing him a drink and then taking the final and hav

  • The Heirs Second Chance At Forever.   An Uninvited Guest

[Gabrielle’s POV]I walk into the club with Trent at my side, his hand wrapped tightly around me, holding me against himself as if to show the world that I was his. I have to admit, I like it. I like the stares that follow us and the looks of jealousy from the women who are clearly upset that such a powerful man is no longer single. However, along with these looks, there are looks of disgust and even questioning, which I’m certain is from the rumor that Trent and Katie were engaged. I was certain those with these looks were thinking of me as a home wrecker, as the other woman, but as long as I knew the truth, I didn’t care.“They’re over there,” Trent murmurs, leaning in so close that his breath tickles my ear.Nodding, I look in the direction his gaze is in and find Rachelle and Hanson together playing some pool. They look so lovely together, with Rachelle holding the stick and Hanson attempting to guide her. It is easy to see the love between them even from here. Was that the way I

[Gabrielle’s POV]“Are you sure you’re up for this?”I eye Trent as he works to straighten the tie around his neck. A week has already passed since he was released from the hospital, and since his most recent scans were looking pretty normal, the doctor released him from bedrest. Of course, the minute that happened, Rachelle insisted that we go out to celebrate.“What?” He asks, lifting his gaze to mine. “Would you rather we stay here and...”“Not yet,” I sigh, though I wouldn’t be too opposed to getting to know Trent’s body on an intimate level, especially while he stood in front of me in a form-fitting suit, complete with wrist cuffs, a super expensive watch, and his messy hair slicked back. God, the man didn’t look like a snack; he looked like a whole damn meal.Trying to ignore the naughty thoughts racing through my mind, I move forward and grab Trent’s tie, then after a quick adjustment, I step back.“Perfect,” I grin, taking him in while pulling out my phone.“What are you doing
