Chapter 4
Viktor’s POV
I stormed back into my office, slamming the door so hard that the glass panels rattled. My chest heaved with barely contained rage, my hands trembling as I stared at the engagement ring Alina had so casually returned to me.
"She thinks she can walk away from me," I muttered under my breath, my anger bubbling over. Without another thought, I swept everything off my desk, the stack of documents, the expensive glass of whiskey, even the damn pen holder, all crashing to the floor in a violent mess.
Mira, who had been lounging on the couch with her usual air of arrogance, shot up at the noise. "Viktor!" she gasped, rushing toward me. "What the hell is going on? What happened?"
I gritted my teeth, running a hand through my hair in frustration. "Alina," I growled. "She’s done. She called off the wedding."
Mira’s eyes widened, and for a moment, I saw a flicker of panic beneath her carefully composed expression. "What?" she hissed. "Why?"
I clenched my fists, glaring at the broken mess on the floor. "She said she’s found her mate." The words tasted bitter in my mouth. "Some bastard showed up and claimed her right in front of me." I turned to Mira, my eyes dark with fury. "And just like that, all our plans are ruined."
Mira's face twisted in anger. "No. This can't be happening." She began pacing the room, her heels clicking furiously against the marble floor.
"Viktor, do you have any idea what this means? If she doesn’t marry you, we don’t get a single cent of her wealth. We were supposed to get rid of her after the wedding and take everything!"
I leaned against my desk, breathing heavily. "I’m not giving up," I said darkly, my mind racing. "Alina will marry me. One way or another."
“I'm sure those nosy family of hers put her up to this.” I said annoyingly, turning towards Mira. “I should dea with them for destroying my plans.
“What do you plan to do?” Mira questioned curiously, as if aware of my intention already.
I rubbed my fists meticulously. “Give them a taste of their own medicine or better still clear them out of the way. I should have done this a long time ago.”
“There’s still time, my love.” Mira encouraged me, caressing my shoulders gently.
“Her mate is the next target, once I'm through with her family.” I declared, my voice tinged with hatred.
“Do you know anything about him?”she asked.
“I don't.” I said, now realizing this was going to be difficult to do.
Mira crossed her arms, studying me with narrowed eyes. "Then we need to find out who this so-called mate is. I ran into Alina in the hallway, and she was… different." She frowned, tapping her fingers against her arm. "There was something off about her, like she knew something she shouldn’t."
I slammed my fist against the desk. "She knows too much," I muttered. "And I need to find out how."
Without another word, I pressed the intercom. "Paula. Get in here. Now."
Moments later, the door creaked open, and my secretary, Paula, stepped in nervously. "Y-yes, sir?" she stammered, clearly unsettled by the mess I had made.
I fixed her with a cold glare. "I want information on the man who was in the elevator with Alina today. The one who claimed to be her mate."
Paula blinked in confusion. "I… I don’t know who you’re talking about, sir."
I slammed my hand against the desk, making her flinch. "For goodness sake, Paula. Then find out!" I snapped. "Check the CCTV cameras, pull any data you can get. I want a name, an address, everything."
Paula nodded hastily and rushed out of the office, leaving Mira and me in tense silence. Mira walked over to me, smoothing a hand down my chest. "I’ll pay Alina a little visit," she purred, a sly smile curling on her lips. "See if I can figure out what’s really going on with her. And maybe," she trailed a finger down my arm, "I can learn more about her new mate."
I smirked at her, cupping her chin. "Do that. Find out everything you can. I don't try to make her suspicious about anything.” I warned.
Mira leaned in, pressing a lingering kiss to my lips before pulling away. "I’ll handle it," she whispered before sauntering out of the office, leaving the scent of her expensive perfume lingering in the air.
I sat back in my chair, running a hand down my face. Alina wasn’t supposed to leave me. She was mine, her wealth, her status, everything. And I wasn’t going to let some nobody take her away from me.
Minutes later, Paula returned, holding a tablet in her hands. She glanced at the scattered items on the floor, like she was only taking notice of it.
"Sir," she said, her voice shaky, "I found the man who was with Miss Alina."
I snatched the tablet from her, my eyes scanning the screen. The image of the man standing protectively beside Alina in the elevator sent a fresh wave of fury through me. Paula tapped the screen, pulling up his details.
"His name is Damien Flecker," she said cautiously. "Alpha of the Blue Moon pack."
My grip tightened on the tablet, and I could feel my blood boiling. “The Blue Moon pack.” The words left my mouth in shock.
I knew them well. Our packs had been at odds for generations, their existence a thorn in my great parent's side and mine too. And now, their Alpha had the audacity to claim what was mine?
I slammed the tablet onto the desk, standing up so abruptly that Paula took a step back.
"Leave me," I barked.
She nodded quickly and hurried out, leaving me alone in my fury.
I stared out the window, my hands clenched into fists.
"So, Alina," I muttered to myself, a wicked grin creeping across my face. "You think you’ve escaped me? Think again."This wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
Chapter 5Alina's POVFor days, I had kept my mind shut about what the stranger, I mean Damien flecker, what he said to me in the elevator. It seemed like a joke at first but later on, we talked about it over lunch. And I agreed to it.I agreed to be his Luna, not just because he offered or because he is an Alpha but because I had my own benefits in this deal.Damien was coming to see my parents today, if our deal was going to work, we had to make things look real and perfect. I was staring at my dressing mirror, combing my red long hair, making sure it's curly end were intact. My door creaked open, Tessy popped her head inside my room, a playful smile in her lips. “Looking cute for your Alpha?” She whispered, her voice teasing. I smiled, but she was not done yet. She strode into the room, closing the door behind her as she rushed behind me.“You look beautiful, big sis. Just like how a Luna is suppose to look.” She said, her little hands rubbed my shoulders as she watched me throug
Chapter 6Alina's POV The world around me blurred, my breath coming in shallow gasps as I stared at the phone that had slipped from my hand. My mind refused to process the words I had just heard. My father. My mother. Tessy. Gone. A sharp ringing noise filled my ears, drowning out everything else. My hands trembled as I clutched at my chest, struggling to breathe. "Alina!" A strong pair of hands gripped my shoulders, shaking me slightly. I blinked, realizing Damien was in front of me, his face tight with concern. His voice cut through the chaos in my head. "What happened?" he demanded, his eyes dark with urgency. I couldn't speak. My throat closed up, the words choking me before they could escape. Instead, I grabbed the phone from where it had fallen, my fingers numb as I brought it back to my ear. "Wh—what do you mean they're gone?" My voice was hoarse, barely above a whisper. The person on the other end hesitated before responding. "I'm so sorry, Miss Alina. Your
Chapter 7Alina's POV The ride back to Damien’s estate was silent. Not the comfortable kind, but the kind laced with unspoken rage, grief, and the promise of vengeance. My fingers curled into fists, my nails biting into my palms, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the storm raging inside me. Viktor had taken everything from me. My family, my home—he had ripped the last pieces of my past away, leaving nothing but ashes. I would not let him win. Damien parked the car in front of his packhouse, and before he could say a word, I was already out, storming toward the entrance. "Alina!" His voice was firm, commanding, but I didn’t stop. I didn’t have time for caution, patience, or plans. I needed blood. I burst through the doors, startling a few of his pack members. They whispered among themselves, sensing the rage rolling off me in waves. A few took a cautious step back. Damien was at my heels in an instant, his hand wrapping around my wrist. "You need to calm down.
Chapter 8 Alina's POV The air in the warehouse shifted, the tension crackling like static before a storm. My heart pounded in my chest, the beat matching the thrum of energy in the air as Viktor’s pack surrounded us. Their eyes gleamed with malicious intent, their claws out, ready to strike. I didn't hesitate. Not even for a second. Damien was already in motion, his Alpha presence exploding in the room. The wolves hesitated for only a moment, as though instinctively sensing the power he wielded. He didn’t give them a chance to rethink their decision. With a roar, he launched himself at the nearest wolf, his claws tearing through the air as he slashed at his opponent. The sound of claws against flesh echoed in the space, a sickening symphony of violence. I wasn’t about to let him have all the fun. I shifted before I even thought about it, the pain of the transformation flickering in the back of my mind. My body elongated, muscles rippling, my senses sharpening. The world
Chapter 9Alina’s POV The cold night air bit at my skin as Damien and I raced through the woods, our bodies tense from the fight we had just barely escaped. My breath came in ragged gasps, my heart still pounding from the adrenaline. The sound of rustling leaves and snapping branches filled my ears as we ran deeper into the forest. Damien finally slowed, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. He turned to me, his expression unreadable. "We need to regroup," he said, his voice low but firm. I nodded, trying to steady my breathing. My hands were still shaking, not just from the fight, but from the realization that we had almost been captured—or worse. Viktor had been expecting us. That wasn’t a coincidence. Someone had tipped him off. I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palm. "Damien, there’s a traitor. Someone is feeding Viktor information about us." Damien’s jaw tightened, his eyes darkening. "I know." His voice was sharp, controlled, but I could see the fur
Chapter 10Alina's POV The morning light barely filtered through the cabin’s old curtains, casting a dim glow over the small space. My body ached from the previous night—both from exhaustion and the weight of everything that had happened. I pushed myself up on the couch, stretching out the stiffness in my limbs. Damien was already awake, sitting at the small wooden table near the window. His sharp eyes were fixed on something outside, his body tense, like a predator ready to strike. “You didn’t sleep,” I noted, my voice hoarse. He didn’t look at me. “Couldn’t.” I studied him for a moment. Damien Flecker was an enigma—powerful, confident, but burdened with something dark. His rage toward Viktor ran deep, and while I understood his hatred, I still didn’t know the full story. “We need to talk,” I said, moving toward him. “About last night.” He finally turned his gaze to me, his blue eyes piercing. “I know. I’ve been thinking about it all night.” “Then tell me,” I demanded
Chapter 11 Alina's POV The tension in the village was almost suffocating. I could feel the wolves watching me, their stares ranging from curiosity to outright suspicion. Some whispered as I passed, others remained silent, their expressions unreadable. I had expected resistance—after all, I was an outsider, a human—or so they thought. Damien walked beside me with effortless confidence, his hand resting lightly on my lower back as if to remind them that I belonged here. That I was his. That was the lie we had to sell. But as we reached the large, rustic building at the heart of the village, I realized this wasn’t just about pretending. This was about survival. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of wood, leather, and something distinctly wolf-like. A few warriors sat around a long wooden table, their gazes sharp as we entered. Lucas, the man who had greeted us at the border, was already there, arms crossed over his chest. He eyed me again, but this time, his suspicion
Chapter 12 Damien's POV I had barely contained my anger when Alina agreed to Lucas’s challenge. The pack was ruthless when it came to proving strength, and they wouldn’t hold back just because she was human—or at least, they thought she was. As soon as we left the meeting hall, I grabbed her wrist, pulling her aside. “What the hell were you thinking?” Alina yanked her hand free, her eyes blazing with defiance. “I was thinking about survival.” “You don’t need to prove anything to them.” My voice was low, rough. “I already told them you’re my Luna. That should be enough.” She let out a sharp laugh, shaking her head. “Damien, your pack isn’t stupid. They smell deception a mile away. If they don’t see me as strong, they won’t follow me. And if they don’t follow me, they’ll turn on us both the moment things start falling apart.” She wasn’t wrong. That was what frustrated me the most. I had spent years building loyalty, leading with an iron grip, ensuring no one questioned
Chapter 45 Alina's POV My heart slammed against my ribs like a drum. Lucas—gone. The words rang louder than any warning howl. I didn’t wait for anyone. I sprinted past Damien, past Fiona, down the gravel path leading toward the western watchtower. My injured leg screamed, but I pushed it down. I didn’t feel the pain. I couldn’t afford to. They took him. They took Lucas. The thought repeated over and over again in my mind, creating a noise I couldn’t shut off. Behind me, I heard Damien cursing and shouting orders to the warriors. The scent of blood and pine filled my nostrils, and even though my body was burning with exhaustion from the rogue fight, I didn’t slow. I reached the base of the watchtower and took the stairs two at a time. Talon met me halfway, his face pale. “Where is he?” I demanded. “He was guarding the western perimeter two hours ago,” Talon replied, stepping aside as Damien and Fiona caught up. “We had a rotation change. When the new guards arrived, Luc
Chapter 44Damien's POVThey came like shadows with teeth—at least fifteen rogues, maybe more, surrounding Alina and me from every side. Their movements were practiced, swift, and vicious. We were trapped. And Marlowe’s betrayal rang louder in my head than the howls that summoned this ambush.Alina was already moving, blades drawn, crouched low in a stance that told me she wasn’t going down without a fight. She looked like a ghost risen from war, ready to drag these bastards down with her.“I counted seventeen,” she said, voice low.“Eighteen. Two behind the birch tree,” I corrected, sword raised. “We go back to back. Do not separate.”“Wouldn’t dream of it.”The first rogue lunged without warning, claws slashing down toward Alina. She ducked, twisted, and drove her dagger into his thigh before slashing across his chest with her second blade. He screamed, stumbled, and was kicked away just in time for me to slash open the side of another rogue who thought he could sneak up behind her.
Chapter 43Alina's POVThe morning sunlight bled through the tall windows of the Alpha’s estate, drenching the stone floors in soft golden hues. I sat at the edge of my bed, fingers trembling as I laced up my boots. My entire body buzzed with an unfamiliar mix of dread and anticipation, like I was waiting for something big to crash through the door and change everything. But maybe that’s because something had already changed.Everything had shifted the moment Damien kissed me last night. It had started as a warning, a statement, a response to Lucas’s defiance in front of the council. But the second his lips touched mine, it turned into something else. Something raw. Fierce. Dangerous. And I didn’t know how to walk away from it.I clenched my fists. This wasn’t the time to let emotions blur my mission. I had revenge to take. I had names to burn from my past. The fire inside me wasn’t meant for soft things like kisses. But then why was I still feeling the ghost of Damien’s hands around
Chapter 42Alina's POVMy body ached in ways I couldn’t even begin to describe. Every muscle, every joint, every inch of me screamed from the intensity of the past days. Yet none of it compared to the burn deep in my chest—the fire of purpose, of rage, and of something else I still didn’t have a name for.I stood in the center of the training grounds, drenched in sweat, hair clinging to my face as Damien circled around me like a predator measuring his prey. His gaze held none of the soft amusement or subtle admiration it sometimes did. Today, he was all Alpha. Cold. Calculating. Pushing me to my absolute limits.“Again,” he barked.I lunged forward without hesitation, striking out with my left fist. He sidestepped with ease, catching my wrist and twisting until I dropped to one knee.“You’re still telegraphing your moves,” he said. “If I were anyone else, you’d be dead by now.”“Good thing you’re not,” I muttered, jerking out of his grip and forcing myself to stand. His eyes narrowed,
Chapter 41Alina's POVMy muscles screamed in protest as I climbed the stairs to the top floor of the packhouse. Damien had insisted on checking the borders personally, dragging me along despite my soreness. He hadn't said much, but I knew his silence wasn't anger—it was focus. Ever since the attack, he'd been on high alert, and I couldn't blame him.But that wasn't what had my stomach in knots.Tonight, we were supposed to attend a gathering. A meeting of nearby alphas and lunas. A chance to show strength. A chance to prove that the Blue Moon Pack hadn't been weakened—and that I, Alina Walker, stood as Luna by Damien's side.No pressure.I shut the door behind me and leaned against it, letting out a slow breath. The silk dress laid across the bed made my breath hitch. It was stunning, deep crimson with a slit that ran dangerously high. A matching set of heels sat next to it, alongside a note in Damien's handwriting."You'll look like fire. Wear it."I almost rolled my eyes. Almost. B
Chapter 40Damien's POVThe moment Alina stepped into the training grounds, all eyes fell on her. It wasn’t the first time she had drawn attention, but this time, the atmosphere felt different. She wasn’t just an outsider anymore. She was the woman who had fought Lucas and won. The woman who had challenged tradition and forced the pack to see her strength. Some still looked at her with doubt, but others watched with something closer to curiosity—or even respect.I stood near the edge of the field, arms crossed, observing as she took her place before Killian. He had agreed to train her personally today, and I wanted to see how far she could push herself. Alina had proven she was a fighter, but she needed to be more than that. If she was going to survive the war that was coming, she needed to be ruthless.Killian circled her, his expression unreadable. “You proved yourself against Lucas, but don’t let that win get to your head,” he said. “He underestimated you. I won’t.”Alina smirked,
Chapter 39Alina's POVA dull throbbing in my head was the first thing I noticed when I stirred awake. My body felt heavy, each muscle aching from the brutal fight. A familiar scent surrounded me—warm, musky, and undeniably Damien’s. My eyelids fluttered open, and I realized I was lying on a bed in what I quickly recognized as Damien’s room.“You’re awake.”His deep voice sent a shiver down my spine. I turned my head slowly to find him sitting in a chair near the bed, arms crossed over his chest, eyes sharp and focused on me. The moonlight from the window illuminated his face, making his features look even more intimidating.“How long have I been out?” My voice came out hoarse.“Few hours,” he said, not moving from his spot. “You collapsed in front of the entire pack. It took everything in me not to kill someone for pushing you that far.”I winced at the reminder. “I won, though.”His lips pressed into a thin line. “At what cost?”I pushed myself up on my elbows, ignoring the way my m
Chapter 38 Alina's POV The tension in the air was thick as I paced back and forth in my room. My body still ached from the intense training, but my mind was sharper than ever. I couldn't afford to let exhaustion take over. Not now. A soft knock on my door made me stop mid-step. "Come in," I called, straightening my posture. Damien stepped inside, his piercing gaze locking onto me immediately. He looked calm, too calm, but I knew him well enough by now to sense the underlying tension in his stance. "You’re overthinking," he said. I let out a sharp breath. "No, I’m preparing." He closed the distance between us in a few strides, stopping just a breath away. "You've done enough. You don’t need to prove anything to me or anyone else." I scoffed. "Tell that to the ones who still whisper behind my back, doubting my strength, questioning why I'm here." His jaw clenched. "They’ll fall in line soon enough." "Not soon enough," I muttered, shaking my head. His fingers brus
Chapter 37Alina POVI was still trying to catch my breath when Damien pulled me aside, his grip firm on my arm. His eyes, dark and unreadable, bore into mine, searching for something I wasn’t sure I could give him.“Are you insane?” His voice was low, but the frustration in his tone was unmistakable. “You could have died back there, Alina.”I yanked my arm free, glaring at him. “I had to prove myself. Or did you think I’d let Lucas and the others walk all over me?”His jaw tightened. “You don’t need to prove anything to them. You’re my Luna.”I scoffed, crossing my arms. “And what does that mean if your pack doesn’t accept me? I need to stand on my own, Damien. I can’t just hide behind you forever.”He exhaled sharply, dragging a hand through his hair. “You’re reckless.”“I’m surviving.”His eyes softened just a fraction, but he didn’t argue. Instead, he turned his gaze toward the warriors who were still gathered, watching us with a mixture of curiosity and wariness. Lucas was gone,
