Chapter 46: Below The Surface

LISA'S POV

I sank into the warm bathwater, I felt the tension in my muscles begin to ease. The events of the past 24 hours had left me feeling drained, both physically and emotionally. I closed my eyes, letting the water work its magic, and began to think about everything that had happened.

Liam's face kept popping into my mind. The way he had stood up to Leo, the way he had looked at me with such concern and care. I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for using him like I had. He deserved so much better than to be dragged into my drama.

After my bath, I got dressed and ready to go. Liam was waiting for me in the car, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. We didn't say much as he drove me to the house, the silence between us comfortable.

When we arrived, Liam turned to me and said, "I'm not going to come in with you, Lisa. I think I've had enough drama for one day."

I nodded, understanding. "Yeah, that's probably for the best."

Liam smiled wryly. "I'll talk to you later, okay?"
