Chapter 12 The Carvers Show Up

Author: Night Eleven
Marshall's demeanor shifted upon realizing no one else was around.

"From now on, we'll completely cut ties with you. Don't you even breathe a word of how you used to be part of the Kent family."

Aria didn't respond. She truly didn't want to put up with the Kents anymore.

Joel, who came to look for Aria on a scooter, was unhappy with how Marshall was talking to Aria. He said with a frown, "Sir, how can you be so rude to Doc... I mean, Aria?"

Aria had always kept a low profile. She told everyone in Elmer district to address her by her name when they were outside.

Joel almost let it slip because he was distracted.

Marshall got the wrong idea. He looked at Joel and said, "Is this your father? He commutes with a scooter?"

Upon noticing Joel's completely out-of-fashion frock coat and unassuming scooter, Marshall made a snap judgment. Now he understood why Aria was in such a state—her father couldn't even afford a car.

People from the countryside were truly pathetic.

"I thought they wanted you to provide treatment," Joel muttered. Aria didn't think too much about it. She just took out her phone and rejected the York family job. There had been quite a lot of people going to Elmer district to seek treatment. Many of them were from neighboring cities and counties. So, it wasn't weird for Joel to think the visitors were there to do the same. After all, they came all the way from Uludon."Mr. Hayes, let's head back. We wouldn't want Mr. Kane and the others to wait for too long.""Sure thing." Joel nodded with a smile. She didn't say too much, and he didn't ask too many questions. Thus, a misunderstanding formed. …The Carvers were very anxious as they waited outside the Elmer district. The Carver brothers had to work. So, they had no choice but to leave. Warren sat in the car with a frustrated expression. "Didn't the intel show that my granddaughter is here? Why is everyone saying that they haven't seen her before?""I… I'll go look into

"That's right, Mr. Kent. They asked for that imposter by name and wanted to know where she is," said Alfred. Marshall thought about the person with the scooter. He said annoyedly, "No wonder she didn't want the money. She wants more. She wants to leech off our family.""They are so shameless! I'll send them off right away. I have ways to deal with leeches like these people," Alfred said viciously. Marshall replied, "Don't make too much of a scene. Our family has an image to maintain.""Don't worry, sir. I understand."Marshall hung up and went back to socializing with others. Lily was about to be accepted as Salome's pupil. With how influential the Gunthers were in the medical world, they were sure to be able to get in contact with the Yorks. This would be a great help for Marshall's career. It was a very crucial time for him. He didn't have the time to deal with Aria's destitute relatives. The notion itself was laughable. Not going home and meeting with Frank, who had g

Poe was just passing by the place when he saw the free clinic and decided to try his luck. He didn't expect to be healed. When he found out that Aria wouldn't take a dime from him, he had the urge to get on his knees and thank her.Aria stopped him and wiped his hands. "Sir, your condition isn't that serious. It was just a simple adjustment. Most traditional medicine practitioners would handle it like that.""A simple adjustment? But Dr. Gunther said I needed surgery. The surgery was too expensive. It was 100,000 dollars!"100,000 dollars? People around him frowned when they heard that. That was a catastrophic amount of money for the common folk. "Who is this Dr. Gunther? A bandit?" Maria was the first to voice her discontent. A lot of the residents in the Elmer district were government officials. They felt for the people. The other residents were angry as well. They said to Joel, "Joel, you need to look into this."Joel wiped the sweat off his forehead. "I… I'll try my best.

If Dr. Whiz was no longer working with the Gunther family, who would she choose to provide medical services in Southbury? The other prominent families in Southbury went to work immediately and started sending private messages to Aria. Malcolm's message stood out the most. "You've made a wise decision, boss. It's finally the Lowe family's time in the sun!"Aria didn't reply to any of the messages. She turned off her phone after she sent out the announcement and went back to operating her free clinic. No one would think that a young lady providing treatment to people at a community square would be the renowned Dr. Whiz.…Meanwhile, Dr. Salome Gunther whom Maria and the others were talking about, was sitting in Caesar Hotel and preparing to accept a new pupil.Although she met with an annoying brat that day, the Kents were very accommodating and eased some of her anger. At the dinner table, Karen raised her glass. "Lily, quick! Thank your mentor."Lily raised her glass, a gen

Salome reined in her anger. She was too smart to reveal that the Gunther family was on its last legs in public. The most important thing she had to do at the moment was to keep everyone else from suspecting anything. "You're right. Everyone has bore witness to our achievements in the medical world in the past few years. It's just a little annoying to receive such unfortunate news on such a happy occasion."Marshall was a businessman with a sharp nose. He sensed that something was off. Karen was just afraid that Salome would turn Lily away. So, she was still singing her praises. "That's for sure! You've even won awards abroad. Surely, no one would dare to challenge you in Farshya!"Salome didn't mention the fact that the targeted drug analysis that won the award was provided by the Panacea Society. She sighed and said, "There's no need to brag about that, Karen. We're not perfect, after all, like the treatment for Mr. York. We were short of one herb—the Whisperwind Herb. If we h

"Ms. Carver! Ms. Carver! I've finally found you!"Frank spoke with a thick Janovian accent. He was so excited that his pot belly was trembling.Aria glanced at him. He was wearing a nice suit. He wasn't tall, but he looked like a successful businessman. She wasn't acquainted with someone like that. She picked up her bag and said calmly, "You've got the wrong person.""Wrong person…" Frank echoed her words in disappointment. He observed Aria's beauty and elegance, instinctively believing she might be the "Ms. Carver" he had been seeking.Thinking back to what he did, he realized that his actions had bordered on desperation. The intel provided by the people in Uludon didn't mention that "Ms. Carver" was a medical practitioner. Aria was a very skilled doctor. If she was indeed the "Ms. Carver" he was looking for, the Kents would at least have mentioned her medical prowess. He just thought she resembled the "Ms. Carver" he was looking for from behind. So, he made a mistake. Sin

Frank wasn't trying to put down Aria.Nevertheless, the Carvers kept a low profile. Even when the sons of the family ventured forth to establish their own careers, they never told anyone they belonged to the prominent Carver family.Warren had made the trip to Southbury to bring the Carver family's youngest daughter back home, so he didn't want to make a big deal out of it.Frank had gotten a huge fright just now when he thought he had inadvertently exposed Warren's identity.Plenty of elite families in Southbury would kill to establish a connection with the Carvers. If they found out Warren was here, he wouldn't be able to receive treatment in peace. Thus, Frank could not be the one who exposed Warren's identity and situation.Aria noticed Frank's reaction, but she didn't say anything. After all, doctors were obligated to keep their patient's information confidential. No matter who Warren was, he was merely a patient to Aria. That being said, she wondered why the Carvers would

"And you are?" Stuart asked as he turned to look at Aria. He saw a young woman with long black hair standing before him. She seemed to be sucking on a candy.Though she looked rather young, she was blindingly beautiful. There was a hint of elegance peeking through her aloof demeanor. She had a mole near the corner of her eye. For some reason, her dark eyes exuded a compelling air when she looked at others.Frank quickly said, "Stuart, I brought her here. She's the genius—""How ridiculous!" Salome screeched sharply, cutting Frank off."You again, you greedy young woman." Salome, who had finally arrived, glanced at Aria, her expression darkening. "Are you here to trick patients at the hospital because you couldn't get any money just now?"Then, Salome shouted, "Who brought her in here? Shouldn't you have checked her background first?"Upon hearing Salome's voice, Bryan ran over in a hurry. "This is all a misunderstanding, Dr. Gunther. These people here came with the patient. Right

Dorian steadied Magdalene, helping her sit down. "Mom, what if Laura refuses to apologize? We need to put an end to this mess online before someone digs too deep.""Don't worry. Your brother is the one involved, and he's already on the plane. No one will link the Grisham family's accounts to you. Even if the police conducted an investigation, they'll only interrogate your brother." Magdalene took a deep breath, but it did little to calm her. Her clothes were stained with Laura's blood, making her feel utterly repulsed. Meanwhile, Dorian relaxed, reassured that he wouldn't be implicated. To him, his half-brother was nothing but an obstacle—a liability who competed for the inheritance. Though Dorian had joined the Fitzroy family late, he had Magdalene's support.Neval, on the other hand, had been nothing but a disgrace, sinking deeper into his gambling addiction. Now, at last, he served his purpose—as a scapegoat.Just as Dorian was savoring that thought, a frantic voice broke thro

Eamon never loved Laura, but he had always respected her. He fulfilled her requests, supported her family, and never strayed. While other wealthy men indulged in affairs, Eamon remained distant and polite, just as he had been in college.Their marriage wasn't filled with passion, but his world still revolved around her, Jett, and his work. Laura had a life many envied—a stable family, a respected position—yet she had only realized its worth too late. Tears welled up in her eyes. If she had been more decisive, things wouldn't have come to this. She could have continued her life as Eamon's wife, reaping its privileges whether love was present or not. Instead, she had listened to her mother and lost everything—her family, her son, and the Grisham family shares she had once taken for granted. She had never even desired those shares. So how had it come to this?Regret twisted inside her, making it hard to breathe. Clutching her shirt, she barely registered the voices around her unt

Magdalene's voice rang out, sharp with indignation. "What an ungrateful wretch! If not for my husband, you wouldn't have achieved any of this!"The PR manager remained unimpressed. "And yet we stayed here for his sake. Otherwise, with their so-called capabilities…" His gaze flickered toward Dorian, who stood frozen in shock. "Your youngest son is a fool blinded by women. He lacks competence and knowledge."As for your eldest, he has potential, but you raised him to be useless. I've been in this business too long to be deceived. You're only doing this to hold on to power."Magdalene's breath hitched. His words cut deep. The PR manager added, "Now that Fitzroy Group belongs to you, clean up the mess yourself."Her hands trembled with fury. She lifted a finger, pointing at the departing figures, but no words came out.Dorian leaned in, his voice hushed yet frantic. "Mom, what do we do? The Guetta family won't even pick up our calls."Magdalene bit down so hard on her lip that the t

The deeper people dug online, the more they painted Eamon as the perfect man—handsome, intelligent, scandal-free. Many began to feel it was a waste for him to have married Laura in the first in the first place. As for Magdalene's accusations, the public remained skeptical. They weren't entirely convinced by her words but were eager to hear the Grisham family's statement. No matter how attractive Eamon was, cheating was unacceptable.Aria stayed out of the online chaos, but she knew exactly who was orchestrating it—Eamon.Since the Fitzroy family refused to acknowledge their wrongdoing, Aria saw no need for restraint. It was time for the final blow."Expose the Fitzroy family's IP addresses," she ordered. "And have the one who photoshopped that image apologize. If he refuses, the dark web forum will make sure he regrets it."Online smear campaigns often relied on bots, just as the Fitzroy family had used them to fabricate rumors about Eamon's infidelity. Laura's marriage to Eamon had turned her into a laughingstock in Ludwiten. How could that heartless man transfer their marital assets ahead of time? What had she even gained from wasting years in this sham of a marriage?"I want that jerk to pay! Aren't feminists trending right now? Just spin the narrative like they do!"The Fitzroy Group had always been a family-run business, but aside from Magdalene, none of her descendants were competent enough to keep it afloat. The PR manager had long known this. Most senior employees remained loyal out of respect for the late CEO, but after hearing Laura's words, they could only exchange helpless glances. Did these spoiled heirs truly believe the internet could be so easily manipulated? That people would blindly believe whatever was fed to them? How delusional. The reality was damning. The video clearly showed Laura drugging Eamon. Instead of conducting themselves with the dignity befitting an esteemed family, they had resorted to illegal s

The Fitzroy Group's reputation was in shambles, battered by relentless criticism online. Dorian Fitzroy, the so-called CEO, had once boasted that he would triumph over Waymond and the Grisham family. Yet now, he was scrambling just to save himself. The Fitzroy family's underhanded tactics had been thoroughly exposed, with the internet tearing apart their every move. While the previous three generations of Fitzroys had been capable leaders, everything changed once Magdalene took over. Their successors had become mere opportunists, riding the coattails of others rather than proving their worth.Even within the company, employees had no idea what Dorian's actual skills were. Aside from exploiting his connections and bribing officials, he was utterly useless. Now, overwhelmed and powerless, he refused to even leave his office. When his secretary knocked, he stayed silent, praying for Magdalene to rescue him.Meanwhile, the prestigious families who had hoped to use the Fitzroys to el

"How did the video get leaked out? Did Eamon know about this beforehand and prepared for it? All you know is to cry! If I can't secure the Grisham family's shares, you'll soon be worthless!" Magdalene's voice was sharp, sending a chill down Laura's spine. The words cut deep, leaving her eyes brimming with resentment. But Magdalene had no patience for her daughter's emotions. "Who released this video? Why hold onto it for so many years? Did Eamon do this to take you down? Does he not care about Jett at all?"Laura didn't have the answers. All she felt was a deep, throbbing pain. Her phone buzzed nonstop—messages from high-society women, all pretending to be concerned but prying for gossip. Their insincere probing only intensified her hatred for whoever had exposed the truth."Mom, what's the point of yelling at me? I had no idea an old video like this would resurface. Before Jett was born, Eamon did..." She trailed off, her mind suddenly dragging her back to a buried memory. It was

Magdalene had never encountered such humiliation before. Gripping the chair for support, she trembled with fury, her face dark and rigid. The anger surged within her, rendering her speechless—only her heavy breaths betrayed the storm raging inside. People had always feared her. With her status, no one dared to raise their voice at her, much less hurl insults. In the past, when others struggled to survive, she stood above them, indifferent and untouchable.Raised in an elite family, Magdalene had long believed in class superiority. To her, the so-called common folk had no right to challenge her, let alone condemn her.Yet now, they all turned against her. Their scorn was relentless. They called her a vile, greedy old woman who leeched off her daughter's success. Some even accused her of being capable of far worse than drugging someone. Her expression darkened as she read their words. Taking a deep breath to suppress her growing panic, she swiftly contacted Neval."Board the plane
