Lucas had never defended his daughter Isabella against his wife's ridicule or insults. Mainly because everything Edith accused Isabella of, was quite true. But today he was itching to shut her down. Yet, he couldn't. Not without arousing unnecessary suspicion. So, he shoved his anger deep down and offered his darling wife a small smile as if he were concurring with her words. The act motivated Edith to keep on spewing nonsense.

“You would be a fool to invest in that loser!” She went on. “The nerve. Who does she think she is?”

“Don't get yourself worked up for nothing.” Lucas cooed, reaching out to rub his wife's palm gently, though all he wanted to do was grab his tightly and demand she tell him if she had anything to do with Lorena's death.

“What did you tell her?” Edith wasn't letting it go. She was like a dog with a bone. Lucas sighed in exaggeration.

“I told her I would think about it.” He started calmly.

“What? Are you crazy?” She pulled her hand out of his harshly. “What's

“Lucas Garcia, what are you insinuating?” Her eyes shifted. She was definitely on the edge. Lucas noticed just as he realized his blunder. He breathed out heavily, running his hand down his face. “All I am saying is it must have been an accident because she was drunk according to the autopsy. She was sad but not miserable as to kill herself.” Edith exhaled discreetly, relieved terribly. For a split second, she had imagined the worst. Like perhaps a loophole that might have exposed a secret she and a few vowed to carry to their graves. “That doesn't mean you should waste your money on that brat.” She argued more calmly. Lucas sighed. He was too tired of bickering with her. Plus, he had already confirmed Isabella's suspicions to be somewhat true. Edith seemed to have a deep-rooted hatred for Lorena. Nothing is as dangerous as a foe posing as a confidant. And that's precisely what he planned to be to Edith. At least until he can uncover the mystery behind Lorena's death. Heaven's help

'Was I that horrible?' Lucas thought to himself in disbelief. Didn't he love his wife with all his might? Where could he have done wrong to make Marcia come to such a disheartening conclusion? Could have Lorena felt the same way, and he didn't notice it in time? “I loved your friend, dearly.” He managed to croak. He didn't understand why he desperately wanted Marcia to believe him. Perhaps it would make him feel like less of a failure, or maybe he just needed to be in her good graces once again. “Keep telling yourself that, if it helps you sleep better at night.” It was like Marcia woke up and chose war. She wasn't going easy on him at all. Lucas exhausted all that he could say in his defense and decided to ask Marcia what he did so badly that made her hate him that much. Of course, he knew in the list, his marriage to Edith topped it. But it was his surprise, she was angrier at how he had been treating Isabella so far. She went ahead to remind him that all the money he and his 'per

Wanting to distract himself, Asher took out his phone and began reading the numerous messages he had been ignoring from his old man. Though he would rather not, Asher decided to Go call him and give false hopes because the alternative would be Silas storming over to the Garcia mansion and that would be a sight to behold. Calm and even healthier looking. That's when she told him all about Asher's

“Daddy…” Olivia sputtered, trying to take an innocent stance and paint her sister as the aggressor. Jacinta saw the savage move and glared at her. Isabella, who already had enough of the shitty turn her day had taken, took the opportunity to slip away, hurrying to her room. Lucas noticed she looked miserable, but didn't ask about it because he was sure he was the last person she would unburden to. Also, with Jacinta and Olivia around, Lucas didn't feel it was wise to go, an all-concerned father in fear of arousing suspicion. Knowing his daughters, they have runny mouths. And Edith would definitely hear about it in a matter of seconds. “We just wanted to know why she seemed sad.” Jacinta said lamely, making Lucas to turn and look at her. He wanted so badly to scold her on behalf of Isabella, but decided against it. With a flicker of his wrist, he dismissed the two, telling them lightly to let Isabella be. They, of course, nodded fast, but Lucas wasn't fooled. He had barely disappeared

“I saw a text on your phone earlier.” She began slowly. Asher sucked in breath, dreading her next words. “I swear I wasn't snooping.” Isabella went on quickly, missing the real reason which worried Asher. The man doesn't know that whatever Isabella saw was through the notification window. “Okay…” Asher trailed, wishing she could just continue speaking so that he could gauge how screwed he was. “Is everything alright?” She went on making Asher frown. “I mean you are always there for me, but I have never taken the time to ask more about your life, and worries.” Asher could have passed out in relief. “Thank you, for thinking of me, Princess.” He chuckled, kissing her head. “I am all good, I promise.” He leaned to kiss her nose, hoping to turn the attention away from him. Scattered a few more kisses all over his girlfriend's face, he succeeded. Isabella wanted more than feathery kisses. She pulled her man's head down and smacked her lips over his. Asher immediately engaged her like a

Both lovers stilled, frozen with both fear and excitement. Who could it be? Asher wondered. If it was Lucas, then he might as well be screwed. Luckily, he had locked the door, which gave them the needed time to get decent. “I will f*king murder whoever it is,” Isabella grumbled. It had only begun getting good, and someone had the audacity to interrupt.“Might be your old man.” Asher teased, making Isabella sober immediately. It would be embarrassing for her father to catch her in such a state. “He would fire you.” She worried.“He already knows we are fucking.” Asher snorted. Isabella gaped.“You told him?” She asked ridiculously.Asher chuckled lowly. “They all know we are in a relationship and as such… " Another knock echoed, making Asher trail. “Whoever it is, they definitely ain't playing.” Isabella smacked his ribs as they finished getting dressed. Isabella had to grab a new top from her wardrobe courtesy of her boyfriend. The comical part was the two trying to make their rag

From Marcia's telling look, Isabella knew something what terribly wrong even before she asked. Her heart had already begun picking pace. Did something happen to Asher? She dreaded hearing what Marcia had to say. “What happened?” She asked Marcia, who was fawning over her excessively. “Where is Asher?” Isabella insisted after having received no answer from a somewhat disoriented Marcia. “Is he okay?” Just as the words fell out of her mouth, they heard foo

He surprised himself when he began chatting to the deity to keep Isabella safe where his own strength would fail. By the time he got there, Silas had more than managed to convince Isabella that she was nothing more than a vengeance tool for Asher. "I am here, now you can let her go." Their relationship had improved greatly, and she was slowly getting used to his witty side that she never knew existed. “What do you really want, dad?” “I thought we could talk.” Lucas replied seriously. It's about time he came clean to Isabella about her biological father and everything else Marina would have wanted her to know. Lucas had conveyed the thought to Marcia, who too agreed it's about damn time. “About?” Isabella frowned. One look at Lucas and Asher knew he should excuse himself. Especially after Edith's hearing a week ago where she finally had the guts to tell Lucas to his face that he didn't father her daughters. And though Asher had already told Isabella and Lucas that days prior, it still sounded so callous and cold coming from the horses mouth. That left Isabella conflicted. On one hand she hated her step siblings, Jacinta and Olivia. But after the revelation, she pitied them more. Must be hurtful to know of their shameful bloodline. One moment they called him grandfather the next they can't fathom calling him father. After much negotiations, she and Lucas agreed the two had no choice in how they got into the world. But at the

It had been quite tough holding on to the belief that Dragana would get Asher back for her. “I am here.” Asher croaked, thankful for finally having the one person he can't imagine a life without in his arms. All the torture that Fredric had put him through felt worth it. He would gladly go through it again to ensure Isabella is safe. “You are here.” Isabella agreed. Marvelling at how surreal it all felt. “You are really here.”“He really is.” Bich spoke up once again in what felt like exasperation, but in reality his eyes were barely seeing anything. “Can we cut down the waterworks now?” Everyone laughed throatily.
