Teaghan POV

I sat in the leather lounge chair next to Rick’s hospital bed for the last few hours hoping that he’d wake up. Every now and then he would hiccup with the breathing tube but never open his eyes. The doctor came in about an hour ago to check his vitals and condition. He seemed pleased with his progress, although I didn’t see any but apparently, Rick was showing stronger signs of brain activity on the EEG.

They still had no clue what kind of poison was on the knife but did know it was some form of wolfsbane and it was laced with something else. They were running tests to find out what.

A nurse walked in with a tray of medication. Laying it down on the bedside table, she turned to me.

“Miss, you should go home for a bit and get some rest. Get something to eat, other than hospital food.” I shook my head with a smile. There was no way I was leaving this room. If he was to wake up even for a moment and I wasn’t here, I would never forgive myself.

“Thanks, but I don’t want to lea

Merrick POVYou. Are. Mine! You. Are. Mine! You. Are. Mine! These words kept ringing in my head with no respite. That voice played over and over vibrating in my skull. My head swirled in a foggy gray cloud as I walked slowly in circles in a haze. I tried to remember what happened that night. I was ready to spend a glorious evening with my lady, to make her mine. I remember the phone calls, phone calls that begged to see me. I had no intention of going further with her. She was just a little fun to pass the time. I had been searching for my chosen mate and when I had a clear conscious of who that would be, I asked her to be mine. As nervous as I was, I trusted our feelings more than the fear of her answer. When she said yes, she would be mine, I was ecstatic! Even Apache was howling in joy. Finally! I would have someone by my side to lead the pack into retirement. Someone to grow old with, someone to enjoy grandbabies with. Someone to hold hands with while rocking in our chairs on the

Tori POVI stood there with my mouth open and eyes wide. I stared at my father waiting for him to start laughing as if it were a joke. Our last conversation did not end well, and I felt like he had a change of heart. Maybe I was not what he had hoped for. Maybe he thought I would be stronger, smarter, prettier, more wolf. His words were like a ray of guiding light, a light that shined down on us telling everyone that we were family. I was his daughter, and he was my father. I prayed for the day of acceptance from him, and this is the acceptance light at the end of the tunnel of hope. He was going to announce me as his daughter! To say that I was happy would be a huge understatement. Now the entire pack would know that I am the Alpha’s daughter, heir to the pack, and Victor would be my chosen mate and Rick’s son-in-law.I bet they never thought that would happen! I’m sure he still won’t let us mark each other yet, but he does have some explaining to do like why he waited so long. For n

Unknown POV“I gave you one thing to do! You couldn’t even do that right!” I shouted at Corinne as she coward on the floor at my feet.“I’m sorry! I stabbed him in the chest just like you said to. “She whispered.“No! I said in the heart, not the chest! Goddess, you are so stupid! He is still alive and, in the hospital, recovering right now!” I paced around the tiny cell as Corinne whimpered. “Now I must come up with another plan to get rid of him! It’s not easy getting close to the Alpha. You got yourself caught so now I must find someone else willing to do what you could not!” I shoved her to the floor, and she lay there in tears begging me.“I’m sorry! I can do better! I will try again! I promise I’ll get it right!” I just stared at her in awe.“Seriously?! You are locked up and on guard watch! You tried to kill the Alpha! You are never leaving this cell!” She had one chance to do what I told her to, and she messed it up. There is no other chance for her. They will execute her for

Merrick POVI was having a wonderful heart-warming, air-clearing, loving moment with my daughter and what I now consider my family. Confusion from Tori thinking that I was disappointed in her as my daughter was heart-wrenching. I had no idea that she thought I was disappointed and embarrassed by her. It was not my intent on hiding her away from the rest of the world, but I had to keep her safe. I spent so long without her; I wasn’t ready to share her with anyone. Other than those already in her life, and Goddess forbid I keep her away from Victor, he’d have my head. Alpha or not.Right now, I need to make things right. After I was stabbed, I could only think about what would happen to Tori. My mind kept playing different scenarios on who would take care of her, or who could hurt her and take her away. I couldn’t let that happen. I needed everyone to know who she was and her place in my life. She tried to ask if I was sure that I wanted this, I knew now was the time, she needed to know

  • The Healer   Chapter 57

Tori POVI was still in shock when we all filed out of Rick’s hospital room so he could get dressed. He was serious, he really wanted to announce me as his daughter! My mind and heart were tingling with giddiness and excitement. I couldn’t wait to stand beside him and accept the family bond in front of his pack. I wore a smile on my face as Victor wrapped me up in his arms.“I’m so happy for you, baby!” He leaned down and kissed me gently. We stared into each other’s eyes as he rubbed circles on my back. I giggled and squeezed him tighter.“Thank you, Victor! I’ve waited a long time to hear those words from my father. I’m finally going to be acknowledged as his daughter!” Victor kissed the top of my head once more. Just as he was about to say something, the front doors slammed open, and we noticed Jeremy carrying a young lady who seemed to be unconscious and bleeding into the waiting room.“Help! I need some help here!” I let go of Victor and ran over to him.“Jeremy! What happened?”

Merrick POVVictor stepped away to escort Luna Daria to my office. I turned to see Tori gone from the waiting room.“Eric” My Gamma stepped up to me and bowed.“Yes, Alpha?”“Where did my daughter go?”“Tammy took her to her room to lie down. She said she wasn’t feeling well.” I hummed in response.“I heard she healed Corinne. That was probably quite traumatic for her as well.”“Yes Alpha. She was having a hard time processing what she saw.”“I know Corinne had a troubled background and I’m sure Tori was having a hard time with it. I will talk with her after we talk to the Luna.” Eric nodded.“Yes, Alpha. She has been taken to your office by Victor. I just received a link that Captain Rivers and Liam have been taken to the conference room and are under guard awaiting further orders.”“Very good. I want them in separate rooms and guarded until I get there. Nobody is to talk to them or see them until I arrive. I will talk with the Luna first and then head to the conference rooms.”“Yes

  • The Healer   Chapter 59

Victor POVI left the hospital with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency. I wanted to run straight to Tori and hold her and comfort her. I saw the look in her eyes at what we both had seen from Corinne’s memories. A tragic past of physical and sexual abuse. Her own mother wouldn’t even protect her. I knew some of her past, but nothing like this. It did explain a lot of things about her. Not that it excused any of her torrent behavior, but I understood where it came from. I sensed a need to nurture and to guide from Tori. They might not be the best of friends, but I know Tori would do everything she could to help her deal with her mental anguish and lead a better life and of course, I would support her all the way.Right now, I need to take Luna Daria to the Alpha’s office so they can speak about the Luna’s concerns. As I quickly walked to the packhouse to get the Luna, I noticed that the warriors were wondering about the yard looking lost and concerned. Usually, they are at training n

  • The Healer   Chapter 60

Tori POV I laid down on my bed and let the visions of what I saw flash through my mind. It overwhelms me and the tears fall repeatedly no matter how many times I wipe them away. Corinne had such a tragic childhood; I had no idea how anyone could come back from all that. She was raised in an environment where she was only showed anger, abuse, and resentment. Love to her, was a heavy hand and harsh insulting words. How ever she came to be a member of Mystic Moon, my dad showed her love and care as he should for all his members but took a liking to her and she was finally able to see how life should be. That love and care meant soft words and a loving caress instead of abuse. It became addicting to her. Where she was the center of attention, people wanted to be her friend and help her on a path to healing. Men would gift her whatever she asked for just so they could get what they wanted from her. Where she needed it all the time and didn’t care who she got it from. I not

Alpha Rick POV“So, Victor, talk,” I stated as I took a chair and sat across from Victor. He began explaining his conversation with Warrior Liam. Several times, he needed to calm his wolf, Apache, and soothe him with promises of protecting their pup. I held Tori’s hand tightly during our conversation, afraid if I let go, she would disappear. Victor spoke softly as if not to awaken Tori, but I could tell he wanted to touch her but refrained from doing so.“How the hell did we miss that? We had Tyler and Jeremy on him since Tori’s first attack. Did he meet with anyone? We must bring them in and report what they have found.”I leaned back in my chair and rubbed my hands down my face. Shaking my head with a heavy sigh, I glanced at Victor and hardened myself for the following conversation.“Victor…” He slowly opened his eyes to mine, and I saw regret, pain, and embarrassment.“Yes, Alpha,” He choked out softly. His hands were clenched together as he leaned forward on his knees.“You attac

Tori POVAs I followed the doctor down the hall to Alpha Ronin’s room, my mind was going rampant with thought after thought. Inside, I find him hooked to a heart monitor and several IVs attached to each arm. A nurse was holding pressure on a neck wound with bulky bandages, but the blood was seeping through alarmingly fast.“Tori, please, can you help him?” I stared at the damage Ivan had caused and cringed, realizing the level of power behind his anger—all because of me.“I will try. Alphas can be difficult and stubborn, " I said while keeping my eyes on Alpha Ronin, who was still unconscious.I stepped up to the bed and took a deep breath. I felt Mystic push forward and peer through my eyes.‘The Alpha will survive. It was not meant to kill him. Only a warning.’ I took hold of his beautiful, long-fingered, and strong hands that felt cold and clammy to the touch. My heart twinged in pain because of what this poor man had to go through because of me. He was in the wrong place at the wr

Victor POV“You are too Late!”He grinned with a mouthful of blood before spitting it at my feet.“For what?” I growled as I grabbed him by the neck and squeezed. He gurgled and tried to gasp, but he only drooled. “Tell me!” I roared again. He twisted his head to look at me. His eyes were cloudy and bloodshot. His body was going limp. He was dying.“Liam!” I gave him a shake, and with one last breath, he spoke.“They…come..take…her.” With that, his head lolled over, and his eyes were milky white. I could feel the spirit leave his body and leave behind a cold, hard shell. He was dead.I released my grip, and he fell to the floor with a thud. Over the last hour, my mind raced with his words, trying my hardest to catch a hint of who he was talking about. He never gave any names to those involved. I know he was working with an Alpha, but I have no idea which one!“Beta! What did he mean?” The guard came up behind me and asked with a shaky voice. I spun on him, and then it hit me.“Tori! S

  • The Healer   Chapter 88

Victor POVI storm out of Alpha’s office in search of Liam. My mind is hazy, and my blood is boiling. I had no idea that Rick had received so many letters threatening to kidnap Tori. He probably felt I would go on the warpath with every pack in the state if I knew, and he’s goddamn right I would!I slammed the front door open and stomped across the yard towards the cells. I vaguely noticed pack members watching with concern out of the corner of my eye. I felt Tori watching me and heard a small whisper, but I could not focus on her right now. Ivan and I needed to neutralize the immediate threat to our little dove.I reached the door to the cells, and as soon as I saw the guards, they opened each door as I walked through to the cement stairs leading to the basement.Passing through the dark, damp, moldy hallways towards Liam’s cell, I was fighting with Ivan to keep him under control. I needed answers from this douchebag, then Ivan can do what he wants.“Open cell number seven now!” I or

Tori POVI watched Victor storm across the field toward the cell house where the prisoners were kept. He disappeared through the large iron doors with a resounding thunder that spread across the yard. I stared at the door for a moment before continuing into the house.I went through the kitchen and into the main hall, where several pack members were hanging out, watching movies and playing games. I overheard a conversation as I came to the foyer to ascend the stairs to my father’s office.“So, Whitney, have you guys made it official yet?” I heard a giggle, then a sigh.“Not yet. He said he wanted to hook up at the barbecue tonight.” She squealed in excitement. “I plan on giving myself to him. He hasn’t exactly said it, but I know he’ll announce that we are officially a mated couple tomorrow.” She giggled along with her friends. I rolled my eyes at their childish behavior until one of them spoke.“It must be exciting! To think that you’ll be the Beta female. I wish I could be mated wit

Merrick POVAfter the dramatic revelation about Jax and Corinne, I instinctively reached for Teaghan’s hand and led her to my office. As we stepped inside, I noticed Charles by the bookshelves, his attention on a history book. He turned to face us, his movements deliberate.“Alpha, Luna.” He bowed his head before replacing the book on its shelf and standing before us.As we all entered the office, I noticed Eric and Victor giving each other confused looks as they saw Charles waiting for us. I sat at my desk and pulled Teaghan to sit on my lap. She smiled down at me as I deeply inhaled her scent, knowing I needed it before the conversation we were about to have.“First order, Alpha Ronin and Luna Daria. I have the final submission of the treaty. We both have a signed copy of the initial agreements. I have here the addendums with the stipulations you requested. Please take your time reading it and tell me if we missed anything.” I handed both copies to Ronin and Daria, and they sat back

  • The Healer   Chapter 85

Alpha Colton POVI hoisted the warrior over my shoulder, his weight a mere inconvenience. As I prepared to strike, I noticed him still sprawled on the ground, struggling for breath. With a calm stride, I approached, my foot finding its place on his neck.“Submit!” I barked, my voice resonating with authority. In an instant, he complied, his neck exposed in a gesture of defeat. A deep, hearty laugh erupted from my chest. “Excellent! Now, scurry away like the coward you are!” I roared, observing his hasty retreat, his movements a blur of desperation. That was the fourth warrior that I put down today. I hate to admit it, but whatever that healer did to me was f*cking amazing! My shoulder was injured in battle, and some feral rogue bit half of it off. It took me years to heal, and even then, it was only partially healed. I had some mobility and even less strength. Ordering the Healer to prove herself turned out to be a miracle gift. I returned home that day and went straight to the gym. I

Tori POV“Get away from my mate!” Beta Jax's voice boomed, filled with a protective fury.I whipped my head around to see Alpha Ronin holding back his enraged Beta. His eyes were piercing black, meaning his wolf had taken over and wanted to get to his mate, not understanding that we were helping her to heal.“Beta…” Tammy leaned slowly towards me and whispered.“No sudden movements. We don’t want him to attack.”“Why would he attack? We’re not doing anything!” I whisper yelled back, never taking my eyes off of the Beta.“His wolf has taken over. He doesn’t know we are healing her; he thinks we are hurting her.” She swallowed heavily and spared a glance at me. “Tori, he’s a Beta wolf fighting for his mate. Do not cross him! He could take down the Alpha right now!” I shook my head, and before I could say anything more, Mystic spoke.‘Tori, Jasper is going crazy. Slowly let go of her hands and place them in your lap. I will try to talk him down.’‘Who the hell is Jasper!’ I thought to my

Tori POVI was so happy I was practically bouncing out of the packhouse. Hearing that my dad would announce to the pack that I was his daughter was absolutely fantastic! Finally, I will be a part of the pack. I can’t wait to meet everybody properly.“Tori!” Tammy yelled as she shook my arm. Come back to us; you’re lost in Lala land!” She giggled as I focused on her, laughing at myself.“Sorry, I am just so excited he’s finally introducing me to the pack and making me a member! I could bust!”As we left the dining room, I caught one of the Omegas staring at me blankly, almost as if she were holding back a sneer.“Thank you very much for breakfast; it was wonderful!” I commented to her, but she did not answer. The other Omegas had their heads bowed, and I thought that was strange but shook it off. We headed up to Tammy’s room to begin planning the barbecue.“We’ll have to meet with the kitchen staff to ensure we have everything for tonight. Also, I’ll have Eric ask some warriors to acco
