40: Truce

Harry narrowed his eyes. “You’re doing this because I helped Nadine, are you?”

Margot placed her hands on her husband’s face. “Unfortunately, no. I know you just want to help your secretary so I can’t stop you from doing something good for the needy,” she replied. “But this matter about money, you started it.”

“We’re married,” Harry said, slowly getting back to his senses. “Does it matter if I use your money when it’s for us?”

“Exactly,” Margot agreed, pulling her hands away. “Does it really matter if I emptied your account to pay for this dinner you wanted our family to have?”

Harry couldn’t say anything against Margot. He knew it shouldn’t matter but he never expected her to use his money to pay. “What happened? You used to pay for it yourself. Why did you suddenly use mine?”

Margot let out a sarcastic laugh. “Why, you ask? Three years, honey. I paid for everything for three years. Isn’t it time for you to do it?”
