Shunk!

Walt pressed his hand on his own neck as hard as he could, but despair was apparent in his eyes as there was no stopping the foundation of blood.

At that moment, he realized why Skyler had offered him a handshake.

It was not a gesture of politeness, but probing!

Skyler had already seen through Walt right then!

-

On the other hand, the five policemen attending the 'traffic accident' scrambled toward the Bentley, each whipping out their handguns.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

They had seen what happened through the windshield, and started firing from point-blank range repeatedly even as they kept running towards the car.

With the rapid crack of gunshots, the Bentley was quickly riddled with holes. By the time they closed in to just five feet away, they had emptied an entire clip and reloaded.

However, as the car was covered in smoke from the gunfire, the hitmen couldn't confirm if Skyler was dead from the front.

Their leader, a man with a full beard, wheeled on two of his two subordinates. "Look inside!"

They traded glances, training their guns on the backseat as they approached from the left and the right…

Clang!

When they got a little too close, the right door was launched outwards with a kick, crashing into one of them with such breathtaking force that sent him flying!

Even as the other hitmen heard the cringing crunch of their comrade's bones, a figure dashed out of the car just behind the door.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The hitman on the left side of the car promptly fired.

However, as soon as Skyler leaped out of the car, he launched himself in a barrel roll to the right, avoiding any bullets by hiding himself behind the Bentley.

Then, with one fluid motion, he swung his hand.

Shunk.

The hitman on the left side of the car suddenly stopped firing.

When he looked down, he found himself staring at a knife protruding from the left side of his chest—over his heart.

It was Walt's knife, which Skyler had thrown from the left side of the car, somehow piercing the sturdy window of the Bentley and the hitman's heart.

The sheer accuracy and power of that throw was ridiculous!

At the same time, Skyler dove toward the right in another barrel roll, towards the hitman knocked down by the car door.

On one hand, he was safe from the hitman on the left side of the car.

But on the other, he was also fully exposed to the remaining three hitmen in front of the car.

And to no surprise, the hitmen were firing at him rapidly, but Skyler had already reached the hitman he knocked down with the door.

Plus he had a gun too!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

No other gunshot could be heard just a second later.

Just over ten yards away, all three remaining hitmen collapsed at the same time, horror frozen in their eyes.

One might even say that they couldn't believe it—Skyler only fired three times, but each struck them lethally, dead center between their eyes!

Meanwhile, the hitman knocked down by the door was flailing around.

A good number of his bones were broken—he wasn't going to die, but he couldn't stand either.

As Skyler walked up to him, he smiled, "Who sent you?"

Seeing that the hitman was silent, he whipped out a five-inch schlong needle out of nowhere.

Shunk!

The needle was thrust into the hitman's lower back before he knew it, and he screamed at the top of his lungs.

"Who?" Skyler asked again curtly.

"J-Just kill me…" The hitman snarled, already wishing he was dead.

"Not yet."

Skyler simply drew out a second needle and asked quietly, "Why don't we double your pain instead?"

"It's our guild!" The hitman promptly cried, completely giving in. "We're the Seven Deaths!"

"The Seven Deaths?"

"Yes, I'm just following others… I don't know anything else…"

"Just checking, but the Seven Deaths—as in the fourteenth guild in Horton's rankings?"

"What…"

The hitman gaped in disbelief. "Who the hell are you?!"

"The Reaper."

Skyler put away his needles and raised the gun.

"The Reaper…?"

On the other hand, the hitman started laughing maniacally.

As a hitman, there was no way he never came across the codename—the man was a legend in their business!

In fact, it was probably a lifetime honor for an insignificant person like him to meet such a legend.

As for his fate… it may have been sealed the instant his guild decided that the Reaper was their target.

Bang!

With the crack of a gunshot, the last hitman was shot in the head, his eyes wide open in death.

Skyler looked around at the corpses strewn all over the road, and quickly started to clean up.

Then, he went over the highway curb, towards the barren fields that stretched as far as the eye could see…

-

Beep, boop, beep, boop!

Half an hour later, several police cars came bounding down the road, and a special unit armed to the teeth promptly got off to set up a perimeter.

Then, minutes later, an SUV screeched to a halt nearby, and the driver alighted.

She was a woman in her twenties with a beautiful face. Standing well over 5'7" with a curvaceous figure, her skin was healthily tanned and flawless.

Under her thick lashes, her spirited eyes were adorably large as if from an anime.

On top of that, her uniform didn't just accentuate her stunning curves elegantly, she appeared to carry a masculine edge that matched her short hair.

While long hair would add to a woman's beauty, rocking short locks was a testament to true beauty—and she was undoubtedly one.

"What's the situation, Uncle Sam?" She asked a middle-aged officer as she crossed into the perimeter.

Sam Larkin shot her with a look of resignation. "Oh, you… Your papa told you not to get involved. Don't you know that you're just making life difficult for me?"

Even so, what could he do?

The Summers simply held a high rank in the precinct, and even a special unit captain like Sam was but minions to them.

On top of that, he knew how stubborn Linda Summer could be, and telling her no was pointless anyway.

Linda giggled. "Chill. I'm just taking a look!"

"Captain!"

A special unit officer ran over with a befuddled look. "We have something!"

"Report!"

"It was a firefight, but…"

The special unit officer mused to himself for a moment before continuing, "We have six bodies, each of them carrying the same model of firearm and obviously from the same gang… But the scene suggests that they all killed each other."

Huh?!

Sam was dumbstruck—if they were from the same gang, why would they have a firefight, let alone kill each other?

"Also…"

The special unit officer muttered with increasing confusion. "The right wrist of the deceased still in the car was completely crushed. Judging from the bruising, it looked like someone was holding his wrist, before crushing it with his bare hands… but they left no fingerprints!"

Both Linda and Sam were stunned—how much strength would it take to crush bone with bare hands?

"And aside from the other one who had a knife sticking out of his chest, the rest are all shot dead between the eyes."

Sam's face was ashen, and it took him a while to finally speak, "So we're looking at an expert marksman—one who possesses superhuman strength, and is capable of manipulating a crime scene. After all, he must have erased any traces of his presence and staged this scene, so that it looked like the aftermath of a firefight."

"Search those care plates, find where they've from, where they've been and who was using them… As well as the identity of the deceased!"

As night arrived upon the bustling city of Goldbell, the streets were aglow with dazzling lights. And in the exceedingly elegant private room inside a nightclub, a middle-aged man stood before the glass wall, puffing his cigarette repeatedly. The ashtray on top of the tea table nearby was overflowing with cigarette butts, signs that the middle-aged man was under stress.Suddenly, his phone rang."Yeah!" He promptly answered.A raspy voice breathed from the other end, "Mission failed."The middle-aged man was shocked. "What?!" "There's more. The entire unit was wiped out.""But you said they're professionals!""Well, what do we do now?""Nothing for the time being. The cops have already gotten involved."The voice on the other end then mused to himself for a moment before adding, "Don't worry. I've taken the job, so I'm going to see it through. There's plenty of time left, no? Just be patient."Beep… And with that, the voice on the other end hung up.Nonetheless, the mi

Anne already had a terrible impression of Skyler after they traded barbs, and she was further irked now that she compared him to Carl."Oh, him?" She snorted in disdain even before Skyler could speak, "He's poor, he's filthy, he's disgusting—"Skyler simply smiled as he walked over to Carl, offering a handshake. "I'm Skyler Woods. Lily Sable's fiance."Carl's eyes widened, his pupils dilating. He had already heard about Lily's engagement, and had come in the evening to probe for more information.Be that as it may, he still couldn't help but feel shaken inside when Skyler said it out loud.Lily Sable's… fiance!!!A flicker of rage and coldness showed in the depths of his gaze, but he was otherwise impassive. He had no intention of shaking Skyler's hand either, instead smiling faintly, "So I've heard. By the way… may I ask about your profession? All I heard is that you were raised abroad."As Skyler withdrew without an ounce of embarrassment, he instead asked, "May I have the

"Lily…"Carl's lips were trembling. The love of his life was going to marry someone else. And the Sables' infinite wealth was going to that person too! That was when Lily turned to smile at Carl. "Sorry, Carl. I can't really talk now—it's been a while since I've met my fiance, and I should catch up.""But I—""Read the room, dude!"Skyler snorted coolly at Carl just then, looking utterly impatient. "We need space for some hanky-panky. Or are you so thick that you'd insist on third-wheeling?"Carl wanted to leap toward Skyler and tear him to pieces. But could he really do that? Absolutely not!Even as his heart bled, all he could do was shoot a venomous glare at Skyler, and excuse himself with the worst smile ever…"Skyler, come with me," Lily then said as she started going upstairs, and told the old butler who followed her into the mansion earlier, "Hugh, please send for Mr. Leigh."-Soon, Skyler and Lily arrived on the third floor to study. It was locked from the insid

Skyler started wolfing down dinner as soon as it was placed on the table. He was absolutely famished since he had to walk from the highway to the city, debate against Carl intellectually and sign Lily's agreement.Sitting at the same table, Anne's teeth were gritting audibly as she watched.Would it kill him to take it slow?! Even the way he ate was so uncivilized!Lily was subtly frowning too, but otherwise wasn't showing it."I'm full," Skyler said as soon as he was done, and headed straight for the stairs. "I'm going to take a bath, and then go to bed." "Wait!"Lily called out, frowning and pursing her lips. "You're sleeping in the guest room tonight."Skyler was left dumbstruck. Wasn't she the one who had arranged for him to sleep in the study next to her bedroom?"We're not married… yet," Lily said as if to assure herself, her heart pounding wildly. In reality, she was resistant to the idea and wasn't ready. In the lounge, over a dozen boxers waited silently.Naturally, this wasn't everyone, as most wouldn't be fighting over consecutive days. After a round or two, they would be resting for a few days, or up to two weeks if they sustained worse injuries… or perhaps they would never stand on their feet again! That was why one would only find twentyish boxers at best each day.As Skyler got himself a chair, however, a burly bearded man grinned intimidatingly at him, brandishing his knuckle.Everyone was used to that as bullying newbies were all too common. That was when the speakers crackled, "In ten minutes, our old friend Tyrant will be up against our newbie Sandfox. Odds are 1 against three—please put your bets on as soon as possible, as we will stop taking bets a minute before the match!""Who's Sandfox?" Beardie asked without thinking. He was obviously Tyrant, which was his boxer nickname. As Skyler looked around in reflex as well, Chris leaned in, telling him under his breath,

The driver almost wet himself right then, and said no more. With that, the Santana sped off, and soon arrived at the illegal boxing ring.It used a rather bleak bar as a front, hiding the basement that went thirty feet beneath.Every guest here needed a referee—even if the cops knew that this place existed, they never found it.The headed down a passage, eventually arriving outside a pair of steel doors.Creak…As the doors opened, it revealed a sight that was a stark contrast to the pitch-black passage.Bright lights, crowds, and choruses of cheers.Over a couple hundred guests were all standing around an octagon fighting ring. Each of them were raising their betting slips into the air, cheering for the two men wrestling in the ring on top of their lungs. The driver of the Santana handed off Skyler and Chris to another goon, who led them through the hall.Soon, they entered a room guarded by two bouncers, labeled authorized personnel only.It was quite spacious inside, with

Later, Skyler and Chris were standing by the curb, with Skyler explaining to the other man beforehand that he was just there for show. There was no help—Chris had to take care of his heavily ill sister, and he mustn't take the risk. What would happen to her if things got bad?Still, Chris couldn't help asking, "Mr. Woods… Do you have a grudge against Wyvern?"He was a fine close-quarters fighter, but could tell right away that Skyler outclassed him by miles when he fought Boris. However, numbers always win!No matter how good a man was, they could handle a handful at best.Against a dozen—let alone twenty… And as a kingpin, Wyvern would have hundreds of goons with him, and Chris would rather nothing bad happened to Skyler…That was when Skyler nodded. "I guess I do.""Why don't you just… let it slide?"Chris hung his head, muttering, "There are things that cannot be resolved with violence… And here in the west side of the city, his influence is overwhelming."Skyler chuckle

Since Skyler had given whatever money he had left to Stella, he really needed cash now! That meant not only did he have to settle the beef with Wyvern tonight, he had to make a killing too…But for that, he'd need his own capital first. So what was he supposed to do?"Skyler," a voice called out from behind just then."What's up?" He asked as he turned to find Lily standing there."You're… acting strange. Did something happen?"There was no question that Lily's opinion of Skyler had changed after the past couple days. After all, he had first exposed that woman who tried to kill her, before decimating Seven Deaths to register their marriage as planned.Still, that was exactly why she could tell that he was acting strange today, and therefore came to ask.Skyler shook his head—there was no chance he'd tell Lily he ran into someone precious to him by chance. "Nothing. I have an errand to run, so I'm heading out.""Oh…" Lily nodded. "Well, there's something we need to discuss."
