Vale drives her Mustang toward Kayden’s house, her heart racing with a tumultuous mix of frustration and anger. The memory of Keith—the man she now despises—echoes in her mind, his dismissive tone still fresh. He had shattered their agreement with a careless flick of his wrist, and the weight of that betrayal fuels her fury.
“Argh!” she screams, pounding the steering wheel in exasperation. “Why does he think he can just do whatever he wants?”
The thought of Keith’s arrogance makes her blood boil. He’s a gang leader, wielding his power like a weapon. What a goddamn deal breaker! How could the other gang members still trust him after he so easily disregarded their pact? Did he always break his promises?
Vale scoffs bitterly. If she wanted to, she could confront him right now. But she won’t—she has to protect her family and friends, even if it means getting her hands dirty.
As she approaches Kayden’s house, her gaze falls on his car parked in the garage. Curiosity gnaws at her. “It’s only 8:15 PM,” she muses, glancing at her watch. He usually stumbles home late, especially after a night of drinking.
Stepping out of her car, she makes her way to the slightly open front door. Confusion furrows her brow. Why hadn’t he closed it?
Pushing the door open wider, she steps inside, her heart sinking at the sight of clothes strewn across the floor. A chill runs down her spine, and she grips the railing of the staircase for support, her pulse quickening.
Her hands tremble, and her throat tightens as she tiptoes toward their bedroom. The door is slightly ajar. She gulps, closing her eyes and inhaling deeply, trying to steady herself against the rising tide of dread.
Letting out a quiet whimper, she clenches her fists and peeks through the door’s crack. The scene before her is shattering: Kayden is on top of another woman, both of them naked. Her heart crumbles into dust as she hears Kayden’s words pierce the silence: “I love you, Mia! I love you more than her!!”
Vale’s world collapses around her. The revelation hits like a freight train, anger and heartbreak surging through her. She feels her breath catch, her chest tightening as if a vice were closing in. How could he do this? Rage boils over, and she storms out of the house, her hands shaking with disbelief.
As she drives back to Keith’s mansion, the rain starts to pour, mingling with her tears and amplifying her sense of betrayal. Each drop feels like a reminder of Kayden’s treachery.
The coldness sinks into her bones. She grips the steering wheel tightly, her vision blurred by tears. Other cars honk at her erratic driving, but she can barely focus, lost in her thoughts of betrayal.
How long had he been cheating on her? Why would he do this? Wasn’t she enough? “God damn it, Kayden!! You cheater!!” she screams, slamming her fist into the steering wheel, the pain a fleeting distraction from her heartache.
Memories of their arguments flood her mind, each one a painful reminder of the love she thought they shared. She thumps her chest with her fist, trying to ease the ache inside her, her heart bleeding with every recollection. She feels as if every laugh they shared, every tender moment, is now tainted with betrayal.
When she arrives at the mansion, she leaves her car running, trusting that Louis will handle it. The gate stands half-open, and she strides toward the mansion, ignoring the confused looks from the guards. She silently thanks the rain for hiding her tears; she doesn’t want to appear vulnerable in front of them.
Vale heads straight for the basement. Training or a stiff drink could help numb the ache. She desperately wants to forget what she’s just witnessed, but the image is seared into her mind.
Her vision remains blurry from tears as she stumbles into a wall, landing hard on her backside. “Ugh!” she whimpers, the impact jolting through her.
As she looks up, Keith stands before her, his expression shifting from anger to concern when he sees her tear-streaked face. “Hey! Are you okay?” he asks, his tone softening, an unexpected warmth in his eyes.
Vale slowly rises, turning her back to him, desperate to hide her vulnerability. She wipes her cheeks, hating that he caught her in such a fragile moment.
Ignoring him, she tries to walk past, but he grabs her arm, turning her to face him. She looks down, not wanting him to see how broken she feels. Fresh tears spill over, and he gently catches her chin, his warm fingers brushing away the tears.
Despite her efforts to remain composed, she can’t hold back the sorrow. Kayden’s betrayal has shattered her completely. She turns away and runs back toward the basement, stopping at the end of the hall, feeling the weight of her heartache.
Keith watches her go, confusion and concern flooding his thoughts. She’s never cried like this, not since the day he blackmailed her into this life. Whatever has happened must be devastating.
He thinks about how strong and beautiful she is, a force to be reckoned with. He feels a surge of pride for how well she does her job, taking down dangerous criminals and protecting her loved ones.
But it angers him to see other men look at Vale as if she’s just prey. No, she’s so much more than that. He’s always waited for the day she would break up with Kayden. After all, the attraction between them is undeniable, and he’s willing to bide his time.
“Hey,” he calls after her, but she’s already disappeared down the hallway.
Moments later, a loud bang from the basement reverberates through the mansion. Keith’s instincts kick in. “Oh shit!” If she’s trying to destroy the place, he’ll have to handle her anger later. He wouldn’t punish her for feeling pain, but he wouldn’t let her wreak havoc either.
Caleb, Jake, Brett, and Dylan approach, their expressions curious. “What happened with Hot Chick?” Jake asks, a teasing note in his voice.
Keith shoots him a warning glare. He hates it when others view Vale as just another pretty face. She’s so much more than that, and he’s the only one who should be able to appreciate her. Caleb, with his short dark hair and easy grin, shrugs, sensing Keith’s tension.
As the others join him, Keith’s thoughts race. He can’t let her spiral into this pain. She deserves better—better than Kayden and better than the life he’s forced upon her.
“Let’s check on her,” he finally says, resolve hardening in his chest. He won’t let Vale suffer alone.
The basement is quite the view, but not in any way that anyone would expect. You might think this is where enemies suffer until they die, but that’s not the case. They have another base, another cell reserved for the wretched souls they intend to break.Vale shudders at the thought. If she had to hear their voices screaming in agony while they were tortured, she wouldn’t be able to bear it. The heaviness in her heart already feels like a lead weight, and the thought of their pain only amplifies her own.She walks up to the bar table, her hand trembling slightly as she grabs a bottle of beer. With a quick twist, she opens it and shoves it down her throat, tears sliding down her cheeks. “Just... one more,” she whispers to herself, as if that small act could magically erase the pain. She sinks into a chair, wiping her tears with the back of her hand before gulping down another shot. The cold liquid burns as it goes down, and she chokes out a laugh, half-hearted and bitter.“What am I doin
Vale woke up with a throbbing headache. She sat on the bed, still closing her eyes and let her hand wander to search the nightstand beside the bed for her phone. Her eyebrows furrowed when she noticed that her phone was not there like it usually does. She opened her eyes in confusion. Looking in front of her before looking around. Her eyes stopped on the mysterious figure on the couch and her jaw hit the floor hard.Keith was sleeping peacefully on the couch.A soft breeze made her shiver and realize that she was naked. What the hell?!She paced around the room, trying to be as quiet as possible while searching for her clothes.'Oh, god! Oh, god! I didn’t do it! Right?' Her mind went into a mess.Just then, she saw her clothes in a basket. She reached out for it and realised that it was drenched from the rain and she cringed at the pungent smell of alcohol. She bit her lips in frustration. She sighed and looked around the room for anything to cover herself up.She stepped inside the b
He walks towards her, grabs her arm and drags her into the kitchen.'No, no, no!''If he wants me to make breakfast for him, no, I don’t want to and will not do it!'He sat on the stool, and Vale stood beside him, facing him.“Princess, I’m starving.” he pouted and made a cute puppy face.Vale faced the ceiling, praying that she would be strong enough to look at him. One of the things that mostly hold her from winning is his puppy face. She was surprised when he did it for the first time.Right then and there, she knew, she couldn’t win against his puppy face. Vale wondered if any of the guys had seen him like this. What kind of a feared gang leader would make a puppy face?'Damn it!''How can I resist him?'Vale closed my eyes, 'Inhale, exhale.'Think about a cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, flowers, her family, her Mustang. That’s it! She's going back to the living room.Vale turned around, but a pair of arms swiftly grabbed her waist. Vale gulped when she felt electric sparks fly wher
Vale scowled at him but Keith turned his attention to his breakfast.“As always, your food is the best.” he compliments her.Vale always had her own time at the base when Kayden was out of town for work.Vale mentally laughs. Was it really because of work? The guys always cook by themselves when she isn't here. So, when she has the chance, she will cook for them.'Thank you, mom. Thank you for letting me help you cook since I was six.'Vale knew her family could hire a cook but her mother insisted that she wanted to cook. Her family nor her friends know about her blackmailed matters. Except for the friends that she met in the gang. They didn’t know where she went when it turned dark. She made an excuse and sometimes she felt remorseful for them because she was good at lying.Vale actually felt relieved when Kayden asked her to move in with him, saving her from being suspected by her family. It’s much easier to escape from suspicions if she lived with one person who was certainly not h
Vale stormed out from Keith's room and stride towards the balcony. What do people usually expect from a hidden killer?Jump from the balcony onto the ground beneath?Yeah, call her crazy, but she never fractured her bones after a lot of training and experience. She's not jumping right away. Usually, she would back away a few meters from the rail before running towards it, putting her right foot on the holders, jumping and doing a few backflips. She looked at the grounds, searching for guards.Vale could see one at the far corner on her left, and another one is facing his back on her. Check! Security camera? One on her left, check! That was easy for her. Even if it moves around a lot, she can still escape it.Okay. So, here we go!One... Two... Jump!Thud!...and there...Vale landed on the ground smoothly. She ran towards the nearby tree, shielding herself from the guards and the security camera. She kept running and hiding until she reached the tree near her car. Thanks to Louis, he p
Who loves flowers?Vale did. She bought a lot of it, and the robot will do the work of planting it.Cleaning the house and planting a flower. Cool, right? The flower decorations were also arranged perfectly as it made the mansion look more lively.Vale grabbed her phone and stepped out of the car. She put her finger on the fingerprints tab to open the gate, right when she entered the lawn, the gate closed on its own.She walked along the decorated pavement before climbing the short stairs leading to her mansion's entrance door.Unlike the gates, she has to use her keycard to open it. She stepped into the house and switched on the light located near the door.Vale ascended the staircase while unlocking both of her phones, the gang phone and the normal one.Reaching the top floor, she turned right and walked past nine doors before stopping in front of a big door.Vale opened the door and glanced at her phone. Wow! Forty-two missed calls! All from the guys! She opened her other phone and
Vale parked her car on the side of the road. She can hear the loud music reverberating from Remy’s house.Grabbing her phone and her bag, she walked out of her car before locking it.Vale walked to the door, stepped into the house and looked around for Nancy’s face. There are too many people inside this house, making it harder for her to find Nancy.“Hey, Vale!”Vale turned around and saw Remy walking towards her with a grin on his face. She furrowed her eyebrows. Why does it look like he hasn’t been drinking anything?“Hey, it’s been a while!” she smiled at him.Remy and Vale met in high school. She isn’t sure if he is in a gang, but the important thing is that he doesn’t know what she does.“Yeah, it’s nice to see you again.” he chuckles nervously.Wait, nervous?“You haven’t drunk. Why?” Vale raised her eyebrows at him. She mentally cursed her dumb brain.“I’m a host, babe. Gotta sober to watch over my guest.” he grinned.Vale chuckles and shakes her head at him, acting like an exce
Kayden grabbed Vale’s right wrist, stopping her.Vale looked back and opened her mouth. But, ended up closing it when the woman he kissed before walked towards them, pecking his lips when she reached them and made Vale look at her with disgust.Vale tugged on her wrist and looked straight into his eyes, daring him to say, do, something....and she saw his eyes that speak louder than anything.Guilt.Vale tugged again but harder this time.Mia noticed this and furrowed her eyebrows before smiling at her.Sickly sweet.“Hon, who is this? Stop playing with the women’s hearts. It’ll break their heart to know that we’re engaged, ” she calmly said. What the hell?! They’re engaged?! Vale gritted her teeth harder and it began to hurt. She narrowed her eyes at Kayden before shouting, “Let me-fucking-go!!” she shouted over the music with ferocity gaining attention from the crowd.Great. Just great.“No! Vale...Let me explain-” Vale cut him off with a hard slap.A series of gasps and whispers ar
“Babe, the baby...” Leslie mumbled sleepily as she tried to shake Peter’s awake.Peter grumbled before he got off the bed slowly and moved to the baby’s cradle and lifted the crying b
“Mitchell Grey!”“What?”
“Get out!”A pair of slippers fly past Brett’s head.
“What about this?”Dylan turned his head to look at Jenny, who was currently holding a pair of cute baby clothes in her hands.
Keith and Vale sat on the sofa in the living room after having dinner. They leaned on each other’s, watching variety shows on TV.
“Where are you going?”Nancy grabbed her purse on the sofa, “I’m going out.”
“They did what?!” Keith’s face turns dark.“It’s fine. I killed Mia, and Kayden wouldn’t last long either.”
“How’s your stomach? Is it still hurting?” Keith rubbed Vale’s stomach nervously.“No.” Vale leaned deeper into his embrace.
“Why are you so noisy?”
