Trapped in a corner

Aurora’s Pov.

I opened the door to my old room, and the smell of dust hit me like a wave. It had been so long since I last stepped foot in here, and the sight that greeted me was enough to break what was left of my heart. My once-cozy space, where I used to daydream about a better future, was now filled with old boxes and broken furniture. The bed I used to sleep in was gone, replaced by a few crates stacked haphazardly in the corner. It wasn’t a room anymore—it was a storage closet.

I closed the door behind me, pressing my back against the cool wood as I tried to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill over. Everything felt so different now. Nothing was the same.

“Aurora?” I heard my mother’s voice softly call out as she entered the room, her footsteps quiet on the wooden floor. She walked over to me, a gentle smile on her face, though I could see the sadness behind her eyes. She looked around at the mess, her hands moving to clear off a space on what used to be my dresse
