Derek sat with Elian and Aria in the living room, trying to keep a smile on his face. He had been feeling uneasy ever since Zayn came back into the picture, and the twins' growing curiosity about their roots didn’t help. Today, he was supposed to be bonding with the kids, but the moment felt more tense than usual.

Aria was sitting on the floor, arranging her toys, while Elian was leafing through a comic book. The twins had been chatting excitedly about their upcoming birthday, but Derek could sense that something was off. He was about to ask them about their plans when Aria suddenly blurted out, “We’ll miss you, Derek.”

Derek laughed, though it was more of a nervous chuckle. “Miss me? I’m not going anywhere, kiddo,” he said, ruffling her hair.

Aria's eyes widened as if she’d let something slip, and before Derek could question her, she continued, “You know… when we go to the pack. We’ll miss you.”

The air shifted, and Elian shot Aria a sharp look. “Aria! You weren’t supposed to say any

I dialed Liv’s number with shaky hands, my mind still reeling from what had just happened with Derek. The moment she picked up, I didn’t even let her get a word in.“I don’t know what to do,” I blurted out, pacing back and forth in my room. “Derek—he... he’s been acting so different lately. He told the kids about the disease in the pack, scared them to death. And then we argued, and he brought up Zayn...”Liv’s voice was calm, like it always was. “Aurora, slow down. What do you mean he brought up Zayn?”I stopped pacing and sat down, running my hand through my hair. “He accused me of still thinking about him. And I think he’s right. Not that I want to be with Zayn, but... it’s hard, Liv. Derek’s been so good to me. He’s kind, he’s caring, but... I don’t love him. Not in that way.”There was a pause on the other end of the line. I could almost hear Liv thinking, choosing her words carefully. “Aurora, are you sure about this? Are you sure you don’t love him?”“I’m not *in love* with him

Derek sat with his friends at the bar, nursing a drink he barely touched. His eyes were distant, troubled, as he swirled the glass in his hand, watching the liquid slosh back and forth. His friends had noticed his odd behavior over the last few weeks and finally managed to drag him out, hoping a night of conversation would get him to open up.“So, what’s going on, Derek?” one of his closest friends, Evan, asked, leaning forward. “You’ve been quiet. We barely see you anymore.”Derek sighed heavily, rubbing a hand over his face. He wasn’t sure how to begin. He didn’t even know if he could explain the gnawing anxiety that had been eating at him since Aurora’s meeting with Zayn.“I think... I think Aurora wants to go back to the pack,” Derek muttered, his voice low, almost as if saying the words out loud would make them more real. His other friend, Marcus, furrowed his brow. “The pack? What do you mean?”Derek let out a frustrated breath. “I mean, I think she wants to take the kids back t

As I sat at my desk, the chaos of my life seemed to swirl around me, a cacophony of emotions vying for my attention. I stared at the papers in front of me, the diagrams and formulas I had been meticulously working on for the disease that had plagued our pack. Yet, despite my focus, my mind kept drifting back to Derek's proposal—the way his eyes had shone with desperation, the way I had walked away from him, leaving a gaping hole of unresolved feelings.Taking a deep breath, I opened my phone and hesitated for a moment. I didn’t want to call him. Not yet. I couldn’t tell Zayn about the potential cure when we weren’t even sure it would work. Besides, I didn’t need him hovering over me, questioning everything I was doing. This was my project—my responsibility. I wanted to see the results firsthand before bringing anyone else into it.With the formula prepared, I decided to go to the treatment center on my own. I’d been there a few times before, but the energy in the air always unsettled me. The disease had ravaged the pack, leaving wolves weak, paranoid, and in some cases, extremely aggressive. It wasn’t an easy place to walk into, but I needed to be there. If there was even a chance this formula could work, I had to see it for myself.I packed my things, slipping the vial of serum into my bag and taking a deep breath. “I’ll be back soon,” I told the kids, making sure they were occupied before heading out. They didn’t need to know where I was going. It was better this way.The treatment center was eeri

I couldn’t ignore that hint of worry in his voice, the way his anger had softened into something else—something almost protective. But I shoved those thoughts aside. There were more pressing matters to deal with, and I was determined to move forward with the cure, whether or not Zayn approved. The potential formula held promise, and my confidence in it grew stronger with each test. But to get real results, I needed to try it on a larger scale, which meant moving closer to the heart of the pack. The center’s equipment was limited, and staying on the outskirts of the territory wouldn’t cut it. It was time to make arrangements to move to Zayn’s pack—temporarily, of course. I couldn’t risk any missteps or delay in trying to save everyone affected. After a final review of the lab results, I leaned back and took a deep breath. This was it; I was ready. The formula had

  • The Fragments Of Our Marriage    THE END

The day had arrived, my birthday and the grand opening of the hospital. It was surreal seeing my dream come to life in the heart of the pack. From the moment I woke up, the house buzzed with activity. Liv was running around giving orders, my mom was double-checking last-minute details, and Zayn’s mom was in charge of the kitchen, ensuring the food would be nothing short of spectacular. I slipped into a pale blue dress that hugged me perfectly. Zayn had picked it out, and though I teased him about his choices sometimes, this one was flawless. As I stood in front of the mirror, Elian and Aria burst into my room, shouting, *“Happy Birthday, Mommy!”* They each held small bouquets of flowers, their grins lighting up my morning. “Thank you, my loves!” I scooped them into a hug, my heart swelling. They were more excited about today than I was, bouncing on their heels and talking over each other about “surprises.” I kissed their foreheads and shooed them out to finish getting ready. Whe

The soft breeze kissed my skin as I stood on the balcony, gazing out at the bustling preparations below. Everyone was hard at work, ensuring everything was perfect for the hospital’s grand opening, which also happened to be on my birthday. Liv had flown in from the city just a few days ago, and her organizational skills were in full force, balancing between logistics and last-minute details. Zayn’s mom and mine had joined forces, taking charge of decorations and refreshments. It was like watching two generals at work, directing the army of helpers with precision and flair. As much as I trusted them, nerves still fluttered in my stomach. I gripped the railing, my thoughts racing between excitement and anxiety. This hospital was more than a building; it was a culmination of years of dreams, struggles, and hope. I couldn’t afford for anything to go wrong. Suddenly, two strong arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me out of my thoughts. I gasped in surprise as Zayn’s deep laugh filled t

The ride back home was filled with laughter and endless chatter. Aria and Elian could barely contain their excitement as they recounted every detail of their time at Zayn’s house. “Mommy, did you know Daddy has a giant sword in his room?” Aria squealed, bouncing in her seat. “He said it’s for special fights! And oh! Grandma made me dresses—so many dresses! And I got to spin in them like a princess!” Elian, who was usually more reserved, chimed in. “Dad took me to the training grounds. He said I could be Alpha one day.” His chest puffed with pride. “He showed me how to hold a sword, too, but I’m not allowed to practice yet.” I smiled as I listened to them. Relief washed over me. The house that had once felt like a prison to me—cold, isolating, and oppressive—was now a place of joy and belonging for my children. Zayn had changed. Or maybe it was everyone who had changed, seeing him now through the eyes of Elian and Aria, who only saw their father trying to make up for lost time.By t

I had been trying to adjust to this new chapter of my life, juggling motherhood, work, and figuring out where Zayn and I stood. My desk was scattered with papers, yet my thoughts constantly drifted to him and the way his presence filled the spaces around me. It wasn’t long before a knock sounded at my door. Every step felt harder than the last, but I couldn’t turn back. Not now. Not after everything. “He’s in the last cell,” the guard said, his voice flat.
