Lunaria was locked up for three days, and on the third day, the door came crashing down followed by the entrance of two furious parents and a sniveling sister.

The same old, same old story of her dragging attention from her sister and causing unnecessary drama followed, the insults as well as beatings followed and then the news was finally dropped.

She was leaving the country.

"What?!" She exclaimed getting up from her position, "Where to?"

"Anywhere but here!" Her mother spat, "I regret the day I laid with your dead father and bore you! You are going to be away from our lives for good, we will give you enough money and you can leave, isn't that what you always wanted, an escape from us?"

Lunaria waited for the excitement of leaving to fill her but it didn't. She didn't trust her parents, what if they were trying to traffick her or sell her off? Sasha had told her numerous stories of girls being sold off as sex slaves and that was nothing she wanted to be a part of.

She had no education nor experience with life. No way to find a job or friends abroad. She wondered how she would survive and find her footing.

She also thought about Xander, she didn't know if to grab the opportunity and leave or stay and wish for him to find her.

How sure am I to trust them on this? She gazed at her mother, what if they had some hidden agenda?

Lunaria stuck her chin up, her gaze sharpened in defiance, "I am going nowhere." She proclaimed, "I will stay and wait for Xander, he likes me and wants to know me better with the purpose of marriage!"

At her words, there was silence in the room and then Sylvana burst into laughter, she clutched her stomach leaning against the wall as she laughed, "You really are a pathetic naive thing!" She looked at her sister, "The man who claims to want you was all over me at dinner a few days ago."

"If so." Lunaria stood her ground not believing her words, "Why are you threatened by my presence here? Are you scared he would leave you for me?"

A smack across her cheek followed as Sylvana hurled curses at her, "How dare you insinuate that he'd pick you over me!" She screamed at her, "You ugly swine."

"That's enough Syl." Her mother shook her head, "She isn't worth your effort!"

"You are definitely leaving the country." Dominic stated, "I can't have you around, upsetting my wife and daughter."

"Why do you guys hate me so much?!" Lunaria burst out in angry tears, "What have I done to deserve this?"

"Look in the mirror." Sylvana cackled, "That should be enough answer."

"Dear Lunaria, your name is beautiful yet it doesn't fit you." Queen Julia walked towards her hated daughter, "Look at your sister." She gestured at Sylvana, "Abd then look at you!" She barked at her, "You will do as we say and get out of the country, I would have added that you pack up but there's nothing for you to pack apart from the misery you come along with."

"Please." She looked up at her mother hoping for compassion, "Do not send me away...I will work a-"

"Enough with pleas you wretched animal!" Her mother growled, "Get to packing and be ready by tomorrow, your flight  awaits."

And with that, they walked out of the room, leaving Lunaria in her broken and devastated state, her mind wandering to how her life was turning for worse as the days went by.

It was sad that the first time Lunaria had ridden in one of the cars at home was when they were sending her to the airport.

She got out of the house holding on box that contained the remnants of her things as well as Sasha's. She clutched onto it as she waited planting her feet against gravel, praying for a miracle.

Sasha had always told her that evil people had bitterness rooted in them hence why they hate so much and as her parents and sister got out of the house, she wondered how much bitterness they must have in them and it saddened her.

She had already forgiven them knowing that she was leaving now and she would hold nothing against them.

"What are you waiting for?" Queen Julia's voice came harsh and demanded, "Get in."

Lunaria walked to the door to open it and get in but Sylvana raced to slap her hand off, "The seats are for nobles, you belong in the back just as trash does."

She stood surprised at her sister's words, would she not be allowed to ride in the seats? Her looks went to her mother who rolled her eyes, "Are you surprised?!" She snorted, "Did you expect me to jump to your defense?! Get in the back!"

Lunaria quickly scurried to the back of the car. She tapped the boot and it opened automatically, and then she climbed in, settling in the tight space while her family entered the car and soon the chauffeur began to drive.

She stayed there thinking about how all her hopes of hers have been dwindled because of her family's actions. She thought about Zander, he would probably marry Sylvana the moment she left and her life abroad wasn't something she expected to be any better than it was here.

The car soon came to a halt indicating that they had reached, the boot opened and she got down from the car half expecting her family to leave.

"Let's go." Queen Julia grabbed her hand pulling her to the entrance, "Be quick."

"Why are you following me?" Lunaria asked, "Let go."

"Do you think I would let you go just like that?! I have to see to it that you get on that plane."

They checked in and went through all the necessary processes, all the while, Lunaria wished for a miracle and hoped it came soon.

They went to the terminal, and Lunaria took a seat awaiting the flight announcement. As she sat there, her parents sitting away from her watching as well as her sister.

Her anxiety began to skyrocket and she felt uneasy about the all situation.

In a split second, just as the flight announcement went off, she made a decision and bolted.

She didn't look back, she ignored the calls, and the yells, her eyes scanning the crowd frantically as she quickened her steps.

And in the heat of the moment, her eyes found him.

Those dark eyes trailed to her, their gazes meeting and she wasted no time running up to him, hands outstretched as she lunged for him.

"Xander." She breathed hugging him close, "You are here."

"Lunaria." He was equally as surprised wrapping his arms around her, "What b-"

"Oh, Mr Xander." He looked up to see the St Clairs, a wave of confusion overcoming him, "You found our maid."

"Maid?" He asked confused holding onto Lunaria who didn't want to let go of him, "You mean all these while I have been searching, she was right under your roof?"

"Oh my." Dominic shook his head, "There isn't time for all that talk now. You see here, we are about to send her abroad for further studies, and she's scared. First international flight jitters and-"

"If you would just hand her over to us, the flight has been announced." Queen Julia tried to keep her calm, "It's getting late."

"Is this true Lunaria?" He looked down at the girl in his arms, "Talk to me, darling."

She didn't speak, she only held onto him, too scared to talk knowing her parents would worsen things for her.

"Are you her guardians?"

They nodded.

"Good." He moved Lunaria to his side, "You do not have to worry about her now. She is my sole responsibility from now on and I humbly seek your permission to take her as my bride."

Marco walked away from her, as fast as he could with hands stuck in his pockets, fingers curling in them as he felt his heart rhythm increasing more than usual. The sight of those sad brown eyes stuck with him, the softness of her voice, her inviting beauty, and the way she smiled. It was all embedded in his head. But it was wrong, too wrong. He couldn't desire another man's wife. He shook his head, a bitter laugh coming from him as he brought his hand out of his pocket, the silver band glinting almost mocking him at the way he felt at the moment. The band was a reminder of why he should tame himself and ignore the fire kindling, started by the woman he had saved from falling but he couldn't help himself. She's married, he reminded himself, and on the other hand, you have got a lot going on. He gazed at the band again, a small smile coming to his face, a reminder of his purpose here. He wasn't here to be besotted by a woman. He had loyalty to prove and faithfulness to uphold.

He released his hold and she slid away from him standing to her feet immediately, her palms smoothing awkwardly over her gown, her eyes darting in all directions apart from him but she could see from her peripheral vision that he had risen, standing up with his palms brushing across his trousers. "Are you alright?" The strange man asked, his voice cascading over her causing a certain coolness and she forced herself to look up at him even with the dimness provided by the night sky. She could see those electrifying blue eyes beneath the mask he wore, she sensed a vague familiarity but she couldn't quite make out his face. She hadn’t met much people in her life. "I am fine."
