Chapter 2

Author: Jason Chord
"I knew it! It's just as I thought. I knew you didn't die, you old bugger! You tricked me for three years!"

Gideon hadn't found a body in the grave, but he had expected as much. Titus had been an enigmatic figure who possessed extraordinary abilities. Why would someone like that abruptly claim to have come to his life's end and decide to bury himself? It was unthinkable.

Nevertheless, Gideon couldn't disobey Titus, his mentor, so he had to do as told and guard the grave for three years.

"If I don't get a treasure that's to my satisfaction, Titus, that means you wasted three years of my youth. I'll make you pay for that at some point," Gideon grumbled.

Alas, even after combing through the entire grave thoroughly, he found nothing other than a letter.

"You old con artist," Gideon ranted before opening the envelope with a scowl on his face. He found two pages of a letter.

After he read the first page, his scowl of dissatisfaction was replaced by a moved expression. According to the letter, Titus had asked him to stand guard at the grave for three years to help him mature and rein in his aggressive nature.

As the three years passed, even Gideon noticed that his present state of mind vastly differed from what it had been three years ago. He'd also honed his abilities and developed a stronger, sturdier foundation.

"Since you went through all that effort just for me, I'll forgive you this once," Gideon remarked with a smile before reading the next page.

Immediately, he started frowning. "You want me to head to Goldspire and marry Elara Seymour, the daughter of the Seymour family?"

In the letter, Titus stated that when he was young, he and Isaac Seymour were war buddies. He owed Isaac a favor, and to repay the debt, he insisted that Gideon marry Elara. Moreover, he even wrote that if Gideon refused to do it, there would be severe consequences.

Gideon was speechless. "You're the one who owes a favor, but you want me to marry Elara to repay it? How cunning!"

He was fairly reluctant to do it, but he had no choice. Titus was like a father figure to him. He owed Titus far too much. Besides, the threat of facing severe consequences made it impossible for him to do anything but comply.

"Ian, come here!"

A silhouette dashed up the mountain at top speed.

"Yes, sir?" Ian asked.

"Give the word for me. Tell everyone to gather here."

"I'm on it!" Ian replied before dashing off again.

Soon, all of the powerful figures in Oasis Vale were standing before Gideon in an orderly fashion.

Over the last few years, Gideon had captured quite a number of people, but he'd released many of them, too. And now, only 49 of them remained.

"Listen carefully now. I'm leaving Oasis Vale to settle some matters. While I'm away, you people had better continue to do as you're told and carry on with your farm work. I'm sure you all know very well what will happen to you if you try to escape or cause any kind of trouble."

The crowd shuddered. They wouldn't even dare to think of escaping.

"Rest assured, sir, for we will definitely fulfill our responsibilities and work hard until you return."

"Good," Gideon said with a nod.

Just then, an old man stepped forward with a ring and a letter in hand. He asked beseechingly, "Sir, since you're leaving Oasis Vale, I was wondering if you could help me with something on account of my dutiful performance the past two years."

He even got on his knees and looked at Gideon with a pleading expression.

The old man was Simon Avila, the richest man in all of Verdura.

Gideon still remembered how Simon ended up joining them here. Everyone else who had been captured and brought to Oasis Vale had committed crimes of varying degrees of severity. However, Simon had entered the group voluntarily.

As Simon also hadn't done anything wrong in the last two years, Gideon asked, "What is it?"

Overjoyed, Simon said, "Sir, please pay a visit to the Avilas of Goldspire. When you do, please pass this letter and ring to my granddaughter. When the time comes, you'll see why."

"Goldspire, you say?"

Gideon was heading there anyway, so he didn't refuse the request. After pocketing the letter and ring, he reminded the crowd not to cause any trouble before packing his things and setting off.

Soon, he arrived at the nearest city and headed for the airport. He'd only just taken a seat at the departure hall when he heard a sharp screech.

"Gideon Snow? How dare you tail us?"

"Huh?"

Gideon turned his head around and saw two fully armed soldiers marching up to him—they looked like Lavinia's guards, Benny and Derek.

"Why am I bumping into them of all people?" Gideon grumbled. Pursing his lips, he replied, "I'm not interested in tailing any of you. Are you telling me that I'm not allowed to come to the airport to take a flight?"

Benny roared, "Haven't you been holing yourself up in Oasis Vale the whole time? Why did you come out, huh? How dare you cancel the engagement, you bastard? Such insolence!

"If Ms. Mosley hadn't stopped me, I would've arrested you and had you shipped off to prison!"

Just then, Lavinia piped up, "Come back here. Watch what you say. We should keep a low profile!"

Hence, her guards had to drop the matter. They cast baleful glares at Gideon before heading back to Lavinia.

All of a sudden, the sound of a gunshot rang out.

Three men in black barged into the departure hall. Two of them were wielding guns, while the third had a bomb strapped to him.

"Don't move, or else, you're all going to die!" shouted the man with a C4 bomb tied to him.

Then, he fixed his eyes on Lavinia and smirked sinisterly. "Ms. Mosley, if you don't want to cause the death of these innocent civilians, you're going to have to come quietly with us without putting up any sort of resistance."

"You recognize me? Who are you people?" Lavinia questioned.

"We're suicide operatives from Tylland. It is rumored that you will be launching a military campaign against Tylland in the coming days, Ms. Mosley.

"Well, our king is extremely infuriated. Please come with us, for he would like to have a chat with you," the man with the bomb said.

"I know you're an expert fighter who can kill me, but allow me to inform you that the bomb is connected to my heart. If my heart stops beating, the bomb will explode.

"Therefore, I'd advise you not to try anything funny, unless you want these poor innocent civilians to die a horrific death. I'm sure that as the war hero of Dasovia, you'd want to protect them, right?"

Lavinia's expression was grim.

Benny and Derek were panicking hard, too. If Lavinia went to Tylland, she would never be returning. What could they do now?

All of a sudden, they realized that Gideon's seat was tucked out of sight of the suicide operatives. If he could subdue the bomb-strapped operative from behind, they could easily tackle the two other armed suicide operatives and defuse the situation.

Thus, they started giving him looks—which he saw. However, Lavinia's fate was of no consequence to him.

When Benny and Derek saw the way Gideon merely turned to the side, they fumed with rage and inwardly cursed him for being a cowardly bastard. Even Lavinia's eyes were filled with disappointment. He was indeed nothing more than a farmer who didn't feel a sense of duty to his country.

At the same time, there was a loud commotion outside as the airport police surrounded the area. Nevertheless, no one dared to make any rash moves. If they killed the suicide operative, the bomb would explode, and at least 300 people at the airport would be caught in the explosion.

An incident on such a scale would surely be a national crisis, and no one dared to shoulder the responsibility for the fallout.

"Hey, Ms. Mosley. Have you made up your mind yet? There are limits to my patience, you know. Either come with us, or we'll all die here together!" the suicide operative declared with a manic expression, leaving Lavinia in a bind.

She would've taken down the suicide operative by now if it hadn't been for the possibility of setting off the bomb due to it being connected to his heart.

She, a three-star general and the only female war hero of Dasovia, was undoubtedly exceptional in combat, but the situation didn't look too good.

Lavinia's eyes fell on Gideon. The only way out of this situation was for Gideon to sneak up on the suicide operative, but… he calmly took his phone out and started playing a game.

In her rage, she nearly popped her vein.

All of the passengers who were being held hostage were kneeling on the floor, trembling in fear.

"I'm scared, Mommy," a three-year-old girl said tearfully as she cowered in her mother's arms. Her eyes were filled with terror.

Gideon's heart tightened.

Just then, the suicide operative abruptly went mad. "Looks like you don't plan on coming with us. In that case, let's all die together!"

While speaking, he slammed his thumb down on the red button…

"No!" the crowd screamed, but the suicide operative merely cackled evilly.Yet, all was silent. There was no explosion.Even the suicide operative was stumped. He kept spamming the red button, but nothing happened. He had no clue that a silver needle had been shot into the controller, cutting off the circuit. At the same time, Benny and Derek shot down the two armed operatives, while the bomb-strapped one was hit in all four limbs and fell onto a pool of his blood. The airport police swiftly swarmed in to subdue him."Let go of me! This is impossible! Why didn't it explode? Why?" the suicide operative screamed at the top of his lungs."This proves that fate favors Dasovia and me," Lavinia declared icily. "Tylland has committed many atrocities and will surely come to a terrible end. Take him away and interrogate him."Slowly, peace returned to the departure hall. The passengers, who were still reeling from the ordeal, came up to Lavinia with looks of awe and respect."It is truly

"Dominic Zeller?" Gideon repeated. Frowning, he remarked, "The name sounds familiar to me.""He's a good friend of Hercule's, sir! Hercule mentioned that to you before.""I remember now."When Gideon first captured Hercule and brought him back to Oasis Vale, Hercule claimed that Dominic would be coming to save him.Dominic had indeed turned up, but it wasn't Gideon he faced. Paul, Ajax, and a few others had given him a thorough thrashing, and he fled with his tail between his legs.Smiling, Leopold explained, "Somehow, Dominic heard that you'll be coming to Goldspire, so he dared not stick around to act like a big shot here. He came to me and offered Beaker Island to be your residence."Gideon chuckled. "He's quick-witted and amenable, I see. Did he mention anything about wanting to save Hercule from Oasis Vale?""He said he wouldn't dare to and that it would be good for Hercule to undergo some training at Oasis Vale," Leopold replied. "In fact, he said that if given the chance,

I'll show you the price you'll have to pay for hitting me and humiliating us Grosses!"Eric wanted nothing more than to rip Gideon to pieces, and he swore to take Gideon down."I'll be waiting," Gideon retorted condescendingly. "You'd better not disappoint me. Also, pass your family a message for me. Tell them to be prepared for when I buy out Gross Group."Eric was flabbergasted, but after a moment, he mocked, "You must've gone mad, Gideon. To think you'd say such ridiculous things. You want to buy out our company? With what? Just wait, all of you! It's over for the Snow family!"And with that, he stormed out of the Snow residence.Only then did Cormac bellow, "Look at what you did, Gideon! The Grosses will surely join fo

After leaving Gideon at the city hall half an hour ago, Elara had been in such a foul mood that she went to a bar to drown her sorrows in alcohol. By sheer coincidence, she bumped into Matthew Carter. He was the handsome and talented son of the Carters of Goldspire, and they had been classmates at college, too. Over time, they became great friends who confided everything in each other. In fact, she considered him her bosom friend despite him being a guy."Why are you upset, Ella? Tell me what happened," Matthew asked in concern as he patted Elara's hand."I don't even want to talk about it. I got married.""What did you say?" Matthew exclaimed in shock. Frowning, he asked, "You're joking, right? Why would you have gotten married out of the blue? This is my first time hearing about this."Elara replied in frustration, "It was my dad who arranged this marriage for me. He made me marry a stinking farmer! We even got our marriage license already."Matthew's expression turned dark.E

"Thanks to you, Matthew, we get to share in this honor, too! I never even dreamed of being able to partake in such precious wine.""I have to take a photo of it and share it on my feed!"While everyone else showered Matthew with flattery, he was utterly confused as well. The Carters were merely a run-of-the-mill wealthy family without much prestige. Meanwhile, the owner of Twilight Bar was a big shot in the criminal underworld. They belonged to two entirely different social classes, so why was he being given such expensive wine?"Hey, Matthew. Is this a sign that the Carters are about to make it big? Why else would the owner of Twilight Bar give you this wine?""Well, about that…"Matthew didn't know what to say, but after a brief moment, he came up with an idea. Straightening up, he said with a smile, "Since this has happened, I won't try to hide it any longer. A few days ago, I had the honor of receiving the recognition of the chairperson of Avila Group. "She said she was int

Silence fell as the room filled with an awkward tension.Sporting an unpleasant expression, Matthew clutched the saucer without knowing whether to put it away or toss it in the trash."What kind of heinous trick did you pull to make the pattern disappear, Gideon?" Elara questioned in fury.Scoffing, Gideon replied, "The pattern was made with a special kind of ink that is hard to remove, but it's possible to do so with the help of heat and alcohol. It's that simple."However, Elara didn't let up. "How did you know it could disappear with the combination of heat and alcohol? I get the feeling that you wanted to ruin the saucer on purpose! Apologize to Matthew at once, or else, you'll have to pay for his loss!"Gideon's expression turned grim. Why was Elara being so unreasonable and saying such ridiculous things? Was it simply because Matthew was her bosom friend?Alas, those words sounded disgusting to his ears. He was repulsed by them.At that very moment, Matthew chimed in with

Eric was scared stiff. How did Gideon do it? How did he take down over a dozen men in the blink of an eye? While Eric stood there in a daze, Gideon slapped him so hard that he flew backward and lost a few teeth in the process. Both sides of his face were now swollen."You didn't learn your lesson back at the Snow residence, huh? The nerve of you to try and come after me. Do you think I'm a good-tempered man?" Gideon questioned, his expression frosty.Clenching his jaw, Eric roared, "Just you wait, Gideon! I'll cripple you today if it's the last thing I do!"As soon as he finished speaking, he attempted to run off. Amused, Gideon picked Eric up like a little rat and threw him against the floor. Instantly, his nose broke, making him howl in agony.Just then, there was a commotion in the hallway, and a group of men in black appeared. Gunnar Scarrow, the burly man in the lead, had a menacing scowl on his scarred face."I received a report from our customers that someone's causing

At that moment, Gideon found himself in a strange state. He could clearly feel his body undergoing changes. However, he couldn't tell what exactly was changing. In his mind, eerie images surfaced—chains twisting and intertwining, floating through the void."Is this the DNA strand?" Gideon was fascinated. It was these very chains that determined every aspect of a person's traits, a masterpiece of nature."This structure is truly flawless." Gideon was in awe.Just then, a burst of radiant light shot forth as if carrying the momentum of a thousand armies. The chains seemed to sense the threat and immediately began whirling, tangling together to form a spherical mass."That's…"Gideon was startled. Gideon pondered for a moment. "I have a question. Why me? If you want to run experiments, there are plenty of people in the Spirale Clan. You could've done this long ago.""No, no, no." Ewan shook his head repeatedly. "This GeneX Pill is obviously something terrifying. Ordinary people wouldn't survive it. I needed someone who had cultivated a special physique."In fact, over the past year, I have found several warriors with battle-forged bodies. But their battle physiques were just average."For the experiment to succeed, I want the best battle physique. Your Solar Titan Physique… is simply the perfect choice."Gideon, I have high hopes for you."Ewan's eyes gleamed with excitement, as if he could already see the experiment's success. Then, three Dragonsbane Mechs surrounded Gideon."Let's warm up first."The battle erupted instantly.Gideon clashed with the three Dragonsbane Mechs. The Dragonsbane Mech back in Beaumere had already been damaged, which was why Gideon had been

"Conquering the world, huh? You're certainly ambitious," Gideon mocked, his presence intensifying to its zenith. "You want me to take the GeneX Pill and use me for your experiment? That's just a fantasy." "Gideon, you are indeed formidable. Honestly, I'm not sure I could defeat you in the open. But here, in this main hall and secret chamber, I have complete control. Neither you nor even Lucifer and Samson combined could cause much trouble here." As Ewan spoke, the secret room began to tremble, and three Dragonsbane Mechs emerged. Additionally, a high-tech weapon the size of a person slowly rolled into view behind Ewan, exerting more pressure on Gideon than the mechs. "Allow me to introduce this. This is a Dragonsbane Mech..." "I already know. I captured one in Beaumere." Ewan's expression shifted, and he asked gravely, "What happened in Beaumere?" "Wiped out!" Gideon curtly replied.Ewan's face flinched slightly. He took a deep breath to control his anger. "That explains i

At that moment, Gideon had a sudden realization. So, that was what was happening! Both The Light Council and Dasovia were secretly involved in genetic engineering, and they were both after Genetic Bond. Whoever acquired it could push genetic engineering forward. It might not catapult the field decades ahead, but it could certainly accelerate progress by a few years. This realization was alarming."I've been duped!" Gideon thought angrily. The Light Council had plans to attack the Spirale Clan, and he had inadvertently aided them. At that moment, Gideon felt a wave of disappointment. Orabella had been plotting against him for a long time. It made sense now why, despite having numerous chances to leave, Orabella chose to remain by his side. Suddenly, Gideon remembered what Ewan had said earlier. He hadn't believed it then. But now, realizing Orabella's betrayal, he couldn't help but question… What about Winter? Could she have been involved, too?For a moment, Gideon was utter

"Your wife has been deceiving you. She's taking advantage of you!" Ewan said.Gideon's eyelids twitched as he heard Ewan's accusation. Could Winter really be misleading him? That didn't seem possible. He dismissed those unsettling thoughts and silently acknowledged Ewan's cunning nature. With just a small ploy, Ewan had nearly succeeded in making Gideon question himself. What a wily and shrewd man! What a clever old fox!Gideon asked, "What can you tell me about the antidote for the frenzy poison?" Ewan grinned. "The antidote will be given to you once the battle outside concludes and things have calmed down. There's no other motive. I simply wish to foster a positive relationship with a promising young talent like yourself." "Are you really that kind?" Ewan laughed. "Don't think of people as being so bad. Actually, the Spirale Clan is very fond of peace. If we weren't, with our advanced technology, we could conquer Asgard Plains—if not the entire world. But in truth, our cla

"Certainly, you can," Ewan quickly replied, sending a message before asking, "And what about the second issue?" "Frenzy poison!" Gideon revealed.Ewan's expression tensed as he pondered. Being highly astute, he questioned, "My young friend, have you been afflicted by the frenzy poison? No, that can't be right. "You've developed the Solar Titan Physique, which means you could overcome such a poison. So, is it your friend who has been poisoned?""Take it slow. No rush," Ewan added, directing his focus to the screen. "We can't afford to miss this thrilling battle that only comes around once in a lifetime." Gideon felt powerless. All he could do was sit quietly with Ewan and watch the battle unfold.15 minutes later, footsteps echoed. Ewan called out, "Snowy, come in." The sharp sound of footsteps followed. Gideon glanced over and saw a striking young woman enter. As Winter had mentioned, her younger sister Snowy was only 18 years old this year, having just reached adulthood.

"Even though it's such a long distance, the voice sounds as clear as if it's whispering in my ear," Gideon thought, clicking his tongue in surprise. Ewan's voice had echoed from the main hall, which was at least two miles away from where Gideon stood. The path between them was clear, without a soul in sight or any barriers. As Gideon arrived at the entrance of the grand hall, the massive doors gradually swung open, and a powerful, majestic energy surged toward him. "Come in, buddy," Ewan's voice echoed once more. Gideon sharpened his five senses to their utmost capacity, stepped into the hall, and followed the directions to ascend to the top floor of the hall. At that moment, Gideon finally laid eyes on Ewan, the true leader of the Spirale Clan. Ewan was a burly and commanding figure. He sat upright on the throne, where a large electronic screen before him vividly displayed the intense battle between Samson and Lucifer. The clarity was remarkable. "Please, take a seat."

Samson shrugged and said, "Ewan had already chosen to exchange Genetic Bond with us in Dasovia. It doesn't concern you or The Light Council. You can step back, and we can all continue peacefully, minding our own business."Lucifer shook his head. "Genetic Bond is of immense importance. How could I possibly relinquish it? In that case, we shall fight." "Very well. Let's determine if the ten ace legions of Light Council are mightier than the ten legions of the Dragon's Aegis of Dasovia." There was no pause or sudden shift in plans. A massive battle was about to erupt. With ten ace legions and two million fighters, a chaotic skirmish would hinder their ability to move effectively, risking friendly fire. Thus, each faction identified their opponents. The ten-on-ten scenario broke down into individual one-on-one confrontations. As legion commanders, Lucifer and Samson often found themselves at odds with one another. Each possessed incredible power, boasting high cultivation realms an

Samson, the leader of the Dragon's Aegis, was in charge of its ten legions. In Dasovia, his status was akin to that of Lucifer within The Light Council. He occupied an exceptionally high position and held significant authority. There was no need to elaborate on his immense strength. As the most trusted and capable subordinate of the King of Dasovia, his skills were undoubtedly profound and beyond comprehension. "Wow!" "Is this going to be as thrilling as it sounds? The ten ace legions of The Light Council are set to face off against the ten legions of the Dragon's Aegis!" "Ten against ten. Just imagining it is exhilarating." The champions, faction leaders, and representatives from the eight major royal families were both amazed and pleased. They had all decided to order another retreat. Observing the battle from afar, they heard the calls. "Samson! Lucifer!" The two legion commanders exchanged words. Although it was their first encounter, they were well aware of each other
