'BZZ..BZZ..BZZ..BZZ..BZZ..' I slap away aimlessly at my bedside draws, trying desperately to shut the damn alarm clock up, before giving up and pushing the whole unit over onto the floor with an almighty bang that shook the floor boards.
I silently thank the goddess that it's Friday, meaning everyone else in the house was already awake and no one would come in screaming at the fact I'd woken them.
Stretching my arms above my head I sit myself up against the headboard of my bed and groan at the fact that not even the sun is awake yet. Why does training always have to be so early? Waking up at 6:30am was an absolute killer.
I mean it probably wouldn't be so bad if I didn't insist on staying up so late watching pointless videos online but I was 17, I was supposed to stay up late and struggle in the morning, right?
I quickly hopped out of bed and into the en-suite to do my morning wee and take a shower.
The smell the bacon and eggs wafting through the house was pushing me to dry and dress faster, Auntie Cece made the best breakfast and if I wasn't quick the boys and Uncle Mac would clear the lot, trust me I learnt that the hard way.
I throw on a navy blue sports bra and shorts set and run two French braids through my wet hair, ensuring it stays out of my face for my fight with the Alpha this morning.
I bound down the stairs as quick as I could flying into Kash on the way, I didn't even stop to check he was ok, I knew he was fine if anything he would just be pissed that I'd beat him to the bacon.
Kash was 10 months older than me, he turned 18 in January meaning I only had just over two months until my own 18th October, well the first week over November really.
Now that Kash had turned 18 he was able to find his mate and boy did we know it. It was all he ever spoke about, he was worse than a love sick she-wolf, always lost in thought going on about how his mate would be the most beautiful, caring she-wolf, that she'd wait on him hand and foot, attending to his every need. He was delusional if you ask me.
Why would the moon goddess pair him with someone like that when he was the laziest wolf around, he never offered to help anyone with anything and would even come up with lame excuses daily to get out of household chores.
As I went to take my seat at the table it was snatched from under me before I could even sit and I landed on my bum with a hard bump against the wooden floor. Looking up I see Kash staring back at me with a devious grin plastered on his face, clearly annoyed and amused at the site of me on my arse, "thanks for the seat Rors and yeah my backs just fine by the way after you slamming me into the wall back there, thanks for asking"
Just as he went to sit on my chair, he too had it swiped from underneath him and landed hard on his bum next to me on the wood floor. I laughed hard at the look of shock that instantly appeared on his face, my eyes filled with tears through laughter before we both looked up in shock as someone cleared their throat above us.
"KANE!! YOU'RE BACK!!" Both of us scramble to our feet, before we pull Kane into a bone crushing bear hug.
"Easy.. there.. c-can't.. b-breathe.." he wheezed out before we finally let go laughing. Kane had been gone two whole years, travelling the world or some crap, we all knew it was a mate hunt really, at 21 he was still yet to find her.
Kane and Kash were incredibly similar, so similar in fact that they'd often been mistaken for twins by anyone that didn't already know them. Both had fluffy caramel hair like Auntie Cece and dark brown eyes like Uncle Mac along with his fairly muscular form, yet stood a few inches taller at 6ft 7.
The only real difference in their appearance what's their overall style, Kash wore his hair messy on top with short back and side and had an overall casual teen dress sense, tracksuits and trainers. Granted they were nice tracksuits most with a designer label but they were still tracksuits. Where Kane had matured a little, he'd moved on from living every day in a tracksuit but instead mostly wore slim fitted jeans paired with a plain tshirt and took pride in styling his hair each day, taking time to get the longer top section combed into a sort of quiff, with the back and sides shaved short matching his stubbly beard.
"Come on now you lot, sit yourselves down and grab a plate, I've not cooked all this food for the birds to eat yanoe" Auntie Cece sang, as she ushered us all to our seats and began dishing out the mountains of food that lay before us. Bacon, eggs, sausages, pancakes, hash browns, mushrooms and so much more, my stomach growled as I eyed the food before me, where would I begin.
As we ate we fell into conversation, catching up on the events of the last two years, nothing much had happened here but it seems Kane had some amazing adventures.
I couldn't help but feel a little jealous, although we knew he was travelling the world none of us ever imaged he'd actually play tourist in each of the countries he visited.
Riding upon camels in Egypt, swimming with dolphins in the crystal seas surrounding the Canary Islands, making grass skirts and flower garlands on the beach with locals for a barbecue in Hawaii, even playing bag pipes around Loch Ness in Scotland. True to his world, each county held an adventure of a life time but sadly he still hadn't found her, his fated mate.
By the time I'd finished my food and we'd all finished talking I could barely move, my eyes really were bigger than my belly sometimes but Auntie Cece's cooking was unbelievable. I slowly lean back on my chair and glance at the clock on the kitchen wall, 7:41am. Oh goddess I shouldn't of had that third helping of bacon.
As if reading my mind Kane stands placing his plate in the sink before taking a set of car keys from the hook.
"Come on then Rors, Wouldn't want you to be late again now would we" he calls over his shoulder to me "plus I wanna see you whoop the Alpha" he added before opening the front door, flashing me a huge grin and leaving.
"YOU WHAT?!" I heard Auntie Cece shout from across the table.
Shit! I'd hoped they wouldn't find out about this. I quickly grab my sports bag before running to the door after Kane.
Auntie Cece was close behind me stopping at the porch steps "TA..Tell me it's not true?!" She asks quickly covering her slip of the tongue.
I internal curse, I hated when she was upset with me.
"I'm sorry mum, you know how Uncle Nico gets sometimes, I'm sure I'll be fine.. if not, don't let those idiot boys play that awful Barbie girl song at my funeral or have a single speck of pink in sight" I joked as I got into the car and closed the door.
Like I said, Auntie Cece and Uncle Mac took me in and raised me as their own, therefore making them 'mum' and 'dad'.
Besides the two of them, only my father and his Beta Jacob knew the truth. I'd always felt guilty keeping it from the boys but apparently this was for the best and if I'm honest, I'm kind of glad. I loved that I didn't have to be an only child, even if the siblings I was given were a bunch of loud mouthed, cocky as hell, annoying, stinking morons, they were my morons and I didn't want the truth to take them away from me.
As we pulled out from the drive I made sure to blow a kiss and smile sickenly sweetly at Mum while waving goodbye, in my best attempt to show her I'm sorry.
When she finally out of view I turn and give Kane a thundering slap across his biceps making him jump and chuckle "why would you drop a bomb like that and then run? You're such a jerk sometimes" I sulk crossing my arms over my chest. Kane only laughs harder at my childish behaviour, making a small smile appear on my face. He was never phased my bratty tantrums.
'You ready for this Alma?' I ask my wolf as the car approaches the training grounds. Silence echos in my mind, she's not spoken to me since I blocked her out yesterday, I knew she was still pissed at the idea of facing the Alpha but it was out of my control.
Sighing at the thought of going through this morning without her support, I stepped out of the car and make my way over to the training grounds to warm up, while Kane finds at seat in the surrounding stands to watch.
Word really had spread about this fight, there were hardly any empty seats within the stands surrounding the grounds. Pack members of all ages gathering to see who's stupid enough to stand against their Alpha, to witness him knock them down a peg or two and put them back in their place. I internally groan at the the sight, this was supposed to be a warrior training fight not a spectacle for all to see. What if their mighty Alpha falls? I can't help but laugh at the thought, it was very much a possibility.
My father insisted I train with his warriors from the moment I turned 10 years old and while all the other kids in the pack got to enjoys summers swimming in the lake and having fun, I was sent across the country to neighbouring packs to take on additional intense training.
At the time I hated it, I'd always been so annoyed and could never understand why I should miss out on the summer fun? But now I am expertly trained and had perfected every fighting technique that I'd come across, nobody stood a chance against me and that was without taking into consideration that I had Alma on my side.
The warm up passed quickly, a couple laps round the grounds, followed by some basic stretches and shadow punches, I was more than ready.
The pack starting cheering in excitement in the stands all around the grounds, signalling that the Alpha had arrived.
He stood before me, eyes glazed in determination. "I hope you're ready Aurora, don't expect me to go easy on you" he says, eyes still glazed, now locked onto mine. I could only nod in response, suddenly worried at how far this might actually go.
We take our positions on the training mat in the centre of the grounds, bowing slightly to each other before Alpha Nico turns to address the ever growing crowds.
"I thank you all for your attendance here this morning, it's not everyday that I find myself fighting against a member of my own pack but I am grateful that Aurora here and her smart arse attitude.." he turns his head slightly to face me "..has agreed to do just that. As this is just a training session I have agreed that the usual rules surrounding an Alpha fight will not stand. This is not a fight to the death and I assure you that regardless of the outcome I will remain your Alpha." He pauses briefly to ensure his words settle with the ground before continuing "I expect for each of you to stay seated throughout the fight, anyone that tries to interfere or get involved in anyway will be severely punished. This is a fight for fun and training, not a fight for power or leadership"
Once he's finished he turned his attention back to me, as Elder Micha takes his position to begin the fight.
On Elder Micha's say we both lunge.
I've watched him train so many times I had already predicted the Alphas first move. As he went high, aiming for my head and throat, I dropped low rolling between his legs before jumping his back and flipping him over, landing face first on the floor with me still upon his back. A low growl rumbled through his chest, guess he didn't appreciate that.
We went on like this for a while, him lunging aimlessly at me and me simply flipping him or rolling out of his way.
He landed a few good blows, a swift punch had caught me off guard leaving my left eye feeling slightly swollen and my right thigh had taken several kicks but nothing I wasn't able to handle. I'd got a number of good hits in myself, Alpha Nico was sporting a bloodied nose and split lip and was already huffing and puffing he was so out of breath, he was tiring fast but then I doubt anyone has given him a real challenge in while.
The frustration was evident as he finally managed to pin me to the mat, before I rolled out from under him, bringing my knee up hard into his stomach as I did. He groaned grabbing his stomach before his eyes flashed black and a growl escaped his lips.
Shit, Cyrus!
Cyrus was my fathers wolf, he was every inch the Alpha and he did not play nice.
Before I even had a chance to contemplate my next move I felt his fingers reach out and grab my ankle pulling me to him before sending several blows repeatedly to my face and stomach, I blocked as much as I could but I knew my face would be bruised and bloody by the time we were done.
'Get up damn it! Let me the fuck out! I've watched enough!' Alma grunted. 'Nice of you to join us princess, sure you don't mind beating your precious Alpha?' I ask her sarcastically.
'Let. Me. OUT!' She shouts as another round of punches come raining down on me
I didn't get the chance to answer her as she pushes forward and I feel the gentle warmth as my eyes begin to glow signalling Alma was in control.
Although I was still too young to shift, I'd become perfectly in tune with my wolf many years ago. I knew how to tap into her senses and her strength, something most wolves are unable to do until their 18th birthday when they shifted for the first time.
Other than your wolf emerging in your mind at 13, all other werewolf traits came when we reached 18.
Alma laughs like a wolf possessed as blow after blow the Alpha lands more and more punches. Her laughter throws him off and he hesitates, leaving him wide open for our attack.
'Check mate Alpha dearest' Alma sniggers as she intercepts the fist that had been flying towards us, twisting it harshly making the Alphas entire body spin away and across to the other side of the mat. Slowly Alma brings me to my feet, taking steady calculated steps towards Alpha Nico, he gets to his feet quickly before once again lunging towards me.
Too slow Alpha, Alma steps aside leaving him to stumble to the floor, poor predictable Alpha.
He growls once more, this time more sadistically and without warning he shifts. The sounds of bones cracking brings me to my senses.
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! This was not what we agreed!
I feel Alma begin to panic as she retreats back into my mind 'Sorry Rory, I just can't do it. It's one thing going up against him as your father but I can't go against my Alpha' and with that she blocked me out.
Can you believe it? She actually blocked me out of my own mind?!
Cyrus stands before me on all fours, panting heavily. His midnight black furr sticking up in rage as he glares at me from across the mat.
SHIT!!
He begins to take steps towards me but I refuse to backdown, feeling his warm breath fan my face as he stood just inches away baring his teeth in anger.
'Submit to your Alpha or pay the price!' Cyrus' voice boomed, both confident and demanding around the packs mind link. Whimpering sounds from all around as every pack member in the stands is forced into submission, baring their necks to their Alpha.
But that little iddy biddy stubborn side came back and I once again stood firm with my head high, holding my ground.
"I will not. Admit defeat or release control back to Alpha Nico to continue" I stated firmly while looking him dead in the eye.
His eyes were really flashing now, black, blue, black, blue. Glazing over momentarily before he shifts back to human form, retrieving some shorts from the side of the mat.
Suddenly one eye blue, one black. Cyrus and Alpha Nico were both in control, making me feel slightly uneasy. He stared at me for a moment, while we both continue breathing heavily trying to recover from the two hour long fight.
Turning to address to crowds who are now watching on in a shocked silence, he clears his throat.
"It seems I may have met my match. Please join me in congratulating Miss Aurora Logan, not many can say they went up against an Alpha and lived to tell the tale" he turned to look at me with a broad smile on his face and eyes flashing with pride before he composed himself once more.Applause, cheering and whistling broke out from the surrounding crowds that were now standing from their seats, shock clearly visible on many of their faces while fear showed on others.
I felt my shoulders physically relax as I let out a sigh of relief, I was just glad it was over.
While the crowds slowly departed and many pack members stopped to congratulate their undefeated Alpha, I took the opportunity to slip off for a well deserved shower. Not only could I smell the metallic mix of our blood smeared across my face and body but I could taste it too, leaving a bitter copper taste across my tongue. After showering I quickly dress in my comfy fitted grey lounge suit and white trainers, before standing in front of the mirror to assess the damage. My face was covered in black and blue bruising, my left eye swollen as I knew it would be but thanks to the healing abilities of werewolves I knew the damage would be gone in a day or two, some of the bruising was already disappearing.Taking one finally look at my poor bruised face I sigh, grabbing my sports bag before leaving the changing rooms.
Opening my eyes I groan, as the sun glares through the window lighting up my entire room, I knew I should have closed the curtains before I fell asleep.I try burying my head in the pillows wishing I could just fall back to sleep, but it was no good. I'm awake.Sitting up I glance at the alarm clock on the bedside draws next to me, 9:58am. How was it so late in the morning already? And why hadn't any of the boys been in to wake me up yet? Not that I was complaining, this was the best lay in I'd had in years!I hop out of bed with a stretch and walk into my en-suite for my usual morning routing, quick pee and a shower.I decide to take some time with my hair this morning and actually dry it rather than just p

We drove the ten minute journey in silence. I had nothing to say about the situation and I got the feeling Landon knew I wasn't in the mood for small talk.Getting out of Landon's truck, the sound of arguing was the first thing I heard. I quickly run up the porch steps barging the front door open, Landon close behind me."Really?!" I yell above the noise "I thought something serious had happened and what.. you're arguing over the last roast potato?!" I laugh at the site of Kairo growling at Kane as they both hold onto the last roastie."I don't know why they're fighting over it in the first place, it was only a little taster plate to keep them quiet until you got home" Auntie Cece says, pulling a tray of piping hot roast potatoes from the oven. "Plenty more to go around. No one goes hungry in this house" she chuckles, carefu
LANDON'S P.O.V -I'd never told anyone about Josiah before, but Aurora just sat there and listened, she didn't judge like I thought she would.Josiah was just a baby when he died, so there was no real sibling relationship between us but it still hurt. LANDONS P.O.VHow could they think it was me of all people? I've spent my entire life within this pack, dedicated my heart and soul to protecting our future Luna. Why would I take the lives of innocent children? But the guards didn't believe a word I said, why would they when the evidence was against me. Instead I was chained up in the putrid smelling cells awaiting the Alpha.Granted I didn't have to wait long but anytime spent within these cells was too long, the real culprit is still out there."Care to explain yourself young Landon?" Alpha Nico asks as he approaches the cell"Explain myself?" I growl "Explain what exactly? How you failed to round up the rest of the newcomers? How Syl
LANDONS P.O.VWe searched until the early hours of the morning, there wasn't a single sighting of them or any clue as to where they had disappeared to.Alpha Nico was furious, barely able to control Cyrus. Not only was his daughter still unconscious but the very people trying to take her down were living right under his nose, a part of his army and guards. He blamed himself and truthfully I was glad he did!He should never have allowed the newcomers to be merged into the pack so easily, he was blindsided by their stories of devastation and war and now we were paying the price. The fact they'd managed to get within our guards and warriors meant they knew all of our techniques and security measures, they had details of our patrols and station points and poss

I wanted answers but what if those answers weren't exactly what I was looking for?It was becoming clearer by the day that our pack held a number of secrets. Granted the biggest secret of all meant that Rory could live a normal enough life growing up, but it also meant that her early adult years are becoming plagued with uncertainty and lies.I shake the thoughts from my mind and knock on the office door."Enter, young Landon" Alpha Nicos voice comes through the door as one of the patrol guards exits the office.Stepping into the alphas office I notice my father and elder Micha sat upon one of the sofas towards the left of the room.&
