Chapter 2. The Misery

Once upon a time, in the werewolves' only world, there was a Blackfrost kingdom, located in the Northern region of Wolftopia and surrounded by the eternal ice. The kingdom ruled by an iron fist leader, named King Jayden Blackfrost, an alpha wolf with a big and strong muscular figure and a very handsome face. His eyes were hazel with medium-length black wavy hair. He was everywoman's dream.

Unfortunately, despite his good look, he had a hard time finding his mate. The kingdom followed a very strict rule that constrained its people only to be married to his/her destined mate. Of course, as the supreme leader of his kingdom, he must follow the rules.

Presently, he was sitting on his throne, listening to his adviser about the upcoming matchmaking party, and the list of guests who were invited. They all were alpha royalties from other kingdoms and neighboring countries. He sighed, as he was bored of listening to the endless women's names being spoken by his royal advisor, Derald Redwulf.

"Enough Derald, you can invite whoever you want, just make sure she has an alpha bloodline!" he vented. He felt impatient and restless as he reached the age of 25 and hadn't met his mate yet.

Normally, after a werewolf reached the age of eighteenth, they could sense their mate’s presence.

'Why does the Moon Goddess giving me a hard time to find me a soulmate? From countless women I’ve met so far, none of them was my soulmate!’ Jayden felt upset as his gripped at the armrest of his throne became tighter. ‘Dear Goddess, I only wish for a mate, is that a favor too hard to ask?'

His third brother, Aiden Blackfrost, who currently stood next to Jayden, tried to calm him down. "Relax brother, you will find her soon, it just a matter of time."

"It has been eight years Aiden, EIGHT fucking years! And I still couldn't find her!" Jayden yelled.

The second son of Blackfrost, Carson, who stood at the right side of Jayden, began to speak, "But in each year, new women will reach the age of eighteen, if you haven’t felt her presence at the moment, it probably because your mate hasn't matured yet."

Jayden sighed, "You probably right Carson, besides I am not the only one who passed eighteen and is still single, both of you are."

Carson and Aiden smirked to each other, and then three of them laughed at their misery.

"I need fresh air," Jayden said as he rose up from his throne, and went to the exit followed by his two brothers, leaving his advisor and ministers dumbfounded in the throne room.

Outside the throne room, our little Jeremiah, who didn't have a family name, due to his low stature, was scrubbing the floor with a brush. He must clean the hallway impeccably otherwise, the head servant, Loretta Saige will give him a hard time. He almost made the entire marble floor in the hallway squeaky clean and felt proud of his achievement. Unfortunately, no one would ever notice, not even his existence mattered to anyone.

He honestly didn't mind the chore or the cold treatment, but if he could choose, he preferred to clean other places like the kitchen or even the dirty toilet. No one felt sincere to clean the toilet other than Jeremiah, because these Alpha wolves ate a lot of meat and of course, would have a big pile of stinky dung as the result.

He felt nervous at the moment because there was a high chance that he could meet the Blackfrost brothers around the hallway and the series of unfortunate events usually followed afterward. Luckily, he only had a few spots left to clean.

'The royal meeting usually takes an hour or longer, I must finish scrubbing this floor before it ends,' Jeremiah mumbled.

As he concentrated to do his job as quickly as possible, Jeremiah felt someone kicked his butt very hard, made him thrown at his front and fell headfirst.

"What are you doing here omega? This area isn’t the place for someone like you!" King Jayden harshly yelled at Jeremiah. Apparently, he was the one who kicked the poor boy.

Jeremiah tried to get up and focus on what had happened. His worn dirty clothes were ripped.

He saw the Blackfrost brothers stood in front of him, glaring at him harshly, especially Jayden who was unusually stressed out.

The omega admitted that the Blackfrost brothers bestowed by the Goddess with a very handsome face that would make any women fell on her feet, especially Jayden, but their temper and behavior were not for any normal people to comprehend. Jeremiah thought them like rotten cakes, beautiful from the outside, but ugly in the inside.

However, Jeremiah feared the Blackfrost brothers, more than he hated them. "I... I am sorry King Jayden. But I was ordered by Mrs. Saige to clean the hallway." He responded with a smile. He tried to act as nice and polite as possible.

Suddenly, Carson kicked his stomach, made him vomiting blood. Jeremiah fell with his hands holding his stomach, as he tried to endure the pain.

"You must look down when you answered to your king!" Carson said, "Do you want me to teach you manner on how lowlife like you should behave, huh?"

"I-I am sorry" Jeremiah replied softly, kneeling in front of them while his hands still on his stomach.

"Let's not waste our time with dirty maggot-like him, brother," Aiden said while grabbing both of his elder brothers on their shoulders and took them away from Jeremiah.

Jeremiah sighed in relief as soon as the brothers were gone. But now, he must scrub not only the dirt but also his own blood that spilled on the floor. 'More things to do eh,' Jeremiah mumbled and laughed at his misery.
