It was 3:45pm when he got back to the HQ of the SSS. The HQ was one of the best and well-equipped federal facilities in the country. It was made up of buildings that were built to withstand various natural disasters and ballistics attacks. It was guarded by armed security personnel 24/7/365. It was operated by modern technology. The HQ was also one of the most expensive facilities in the country and it was located close to the presidential villa. The SSS HQ was a fortress.

Muhammad had a progress analysis briefing with his boss, the Director of the Department of Intelligence (DI). He was not ready for the meeting but he had no choice but to attend it. His boss hated theories and loved results but right now all he had were theories. The director of the DI had a reputation of being a butcher because he had a habit of kicking officers with below average out of his department. Below average in the butcher’s dictionary was a success rate of less than 90%.

Muhammad knew he should’ve found a way to overcome the phobia his boss instilled in his subordinates but to his disgust, anytime he had an appointment with his boss, he always felt his heartbeat shooting up. One indisputable fact was that the presence of his boss, Mr. Lawrence Esson is what has made the DI one of the best departments in the SSS. The Director General (DG) of the SSS once made a statement that the DI was the pride of the SSS.

Muhammad sometimes got Goosebumps by thinking of the torture the victims went through before being put out of their miseries when death finally intervened. The case was like trying to solve a riddle wrapped in mystery inside an enigma. The background search carried out on all the victims showed that they were clean and had no criminal record.

Muhammad finally arrived at the office of his boss and the secretary gave him a go ahead nod. He braced himself at the door and said a silent prayer. He knocked twice before walking into the office.

The First One was staring at the prettiest one in the group and trying to look interested in the others but it was difficult resisting her charm. The First One made a joke and they all laughed. She was beautiful, gorgeous and perfect. The First One finished addressing the group and left them. He headed for the parking lot. Today had been quite an exhausting day.

Just like the others, he was dedicating a lot of time towards knowing her. He already knew her turn-on, turn-off, taste, daily routines and even her bedtime.

“Can I trust you to keep a secret?” The First One whispered into the air.

After some few seconds of deliberation, he answered the question, “I doubt it sweet heart.”

Earlier that day, he had revealed a big secret to the prettiest one in the group but there was no assurance she could keep it confidential and that was why she was destined to die today.

“Duty is about to call. Get ready to welcome another victim, Officer Muhammad Guni,” The First One whispered as he drove off.
