CHAPTER TWO - BEST FRIEND, FAMILY AND MATE

last update Last Updated: 2023-02-19 14:50:57

The next day, Valentina got up and out of her bed. Her bedroom was small in size but she loved it like that. She liked that she could afford the option of not staying in the pack house because she valued her independence and mostly, she loved being on her own.

Everything in her bedroom was black. She painted her walls black. Even her bed and its beddings were all black. She had a window next to her bed and there was a black chair in the corner by the window. She liked to drink coffee and stare into the forest. It made her calm and at peace.

She walked toward the small black closet and opened the door. She closed the door and decided to grab underwear first so she opened one of the drawers and took out her panties and bra. She needed an outfit for today, so she decided on black leather slacks and a grey shirt. She also took out her black leather jacket and a black scarf from her closet.

She laid her clothes for the day on her bed and grabbed a black towel from another drawer. She stripped off her pajamas, which was a black baggy top and black shorts. She wrapped the towel over her body and walked out of her room. She walked the short distance down the hall and entered the bathroom.

She got into the shower and washed her hair and body. Very soon, she got out of the shower amd walked up to the sink to brush her teeth. She looked into the mirror and saw her deep blue eyes. She turned away from the mirror and went into the bathroom closet. She grabbed the blow dryer and curling iron before she walked out of the bathroom and walked back into her room.

It took her about an hour to get ready, mainly because she was listening to music. It was 9 AM and she still hadn't eaten breakfast, but it didn't really matter, because Kendra, her best friend was going to feed her. She stepped into her black boots with its large brass buckles and grabbed her purse, phone and keys.

She exited her little but cozy home and got into her small black sedan. Black was Valentina's favorite color and almost all of her belongings were either black or had touches of black on them.

She had been driving for about thirty five minutes when she finally got to Kendra's house. She pulled up and parked on the driveway before she grabbed her purse, phone and keys. She got out the car and started walking to the very bright and beautiful home which was fronted by beautiful and vibrant flowers.

Kendra and Valentina had different styles. Valentina liked dark things, while Kendra liked bright things, and their respective preferences reflected on their personalities.

She used her keys to open the door to the house. As best friends, both of them had keys to each other's houses. It never caused any ride between them but instead, it only made their bond was stronger.

"Babe, I'm here!" She yelled as soon as she stepped into the quiet house.

"I'm in the living room!" Kendra yelled back and Valentina smiled. She really loved her best friend.

As Valentina entered into her best friend's kitchen, Kendra said, "Do you know that there is a pack meeting today?"

Valentina was puzzled about what Kendra said. "What pack meeting? Is there a pack meeting today?" she asked Kendra.

"Oh, you didn't know? The royal family is coming today," Kendra said.

As soon as Kendra said that, something in Valentina felt different. Her wolf became excited.

Shay, what's happening? What's wrong? Why are you uneasy about The Royal Family? Valentina asked her wolf.

I don't know why I feel uneasy. Something big is going to happen, Val, Shay said to her in her mind.

Today should be a normal day. She was going to spend time with Kendra, and nothing eventful should happen to her.

I should be fine, she thought.

Maybe Shay was just antsy and was eager to go for a run.

Either way, I'd still be fine, she concluded in her mind.

***

Valentina walked up to her car and got into it, then she texted her mom telling her that she would meet her in the front of the pack house. She drove for about twenty minutes until she reached the pack house. People had already started gathering in front of the pack house, and she saw her mom, dad and brother standing right where they said they would be.

She parked the car and got out, then she walked over to them and hugged her mom first.

"Hey mom, I missed you," she said.

Her mom hugged her back and kissed her forehead, then she hugged her dad and kissed the soft skin on his cheek

"Val, you should come home more often. Your mom and I always miss you."

"I miss you too, dad," she said. "And you too, mom.

Then she moved to Jamie and pushed him. "What you been up to, idiot? Didn't you know that I was coming? Why didn't you come and hug me?" she said to Jamie while smiling.

He smiled at her too before speaking. "I missed you and then I remembered who you are," Jamie said.

I missed you too, little bro," she replied and hugged him, then he hugged her back.

"The royal Family has been visiting packs to find Prince Alexander's mate, but they haven't been lucky so far. They've already been to twenty packs," her mom said as they started to walk inside the pack house.

Jamie and his sister rolled their eyes at the same time and Valentina smiled. She really missed her family.

Her mom scowled at the two of them. "Valentina and Jamie, it is an honor to be in the presence of the royal family," her mom said.

When they got to the meeting hall, everyone was lined up in orderliness, waiting for the Alpha to arrive. Shay, Valentina's wolf was still uneasy. In fact, she had been the most uneasy ever since Valentina stepped out of her car. She still don't know the reason Shay was like that.

Maybe she felt like danger was about to happen. How could any danger happen, though, when their pack was a strong one? The coming of royal family also meant that they would get help from them if a attack were to happen.

Maybe l just really need to go on a run, Valentina thought.

The Alpha and Luna arrived and everybody became quiet as they waited for the Alpha to address them.

"Tomorrow, the royal family is coming to visit to find Prince Alexander's mate," the Alpha started and immediately, all the she wolves in the pack screamed and Valentina covered her ears due to the annoying sound. For some reason, she felt jealous. She pushed the feeling away, though, and focused back on Alpha Austin.

The Alpha continued. "I want everyone to be respectful and presentable. You are representing the Red Moon Pack," Alpha Austin said in a serious tone. "I want all the unmated females from the ages from eighteen to twenty five here by tomorrow morning."

He spoke again. "Everyone, the royal family is going to be staying for a week, and you are to treat them with respect," Alpha Austin said. "They will be staying in the upper level of the pack house. That shouldn't be a problem because no one sleeps up there."

"If you do anything to embarrass our pack, you will be punished," Alpha Austin said in a grave and serious tone.

Valentina had never seen Alpha Austin so serious. That meant the royal family being here was a serious issue. She could tell that Luna Margaret was excited. Of course, she was excited for her daughters. They just turned eighteen and she was eager to see if one of them would be the mate of Prince Alexander.

This angered her and Valentina didn't understand why. Of course, she would want one of her daughters to be the future queen of all the werewolves.

***

The next morning, Valentina stood in front of the pack house with a group of she wolves. She was the oldest there and she could feel the judgemental eyes of the girls on her because all the girls of her age had already found their mates but she didn't care. There were so many different girls. The girls were so young, beautiful and excited.

Valentina just wanted to go back home. She was so tired of people staring at her like she was the weirdest person they had ever seen just because she was putting on an all black outfit and not bright colors like them.

She had never really learned much about the royal family. She was never going to have anything to do with them so what was the point?

Valentina wasn't excited like the other girls. Everyone else looked like they had a sugar high. Honestly, it was making her sick how much people were so excited just because the royal family were coming.

They all stopped their chatter and looked toward the entourage of ten black cars coming towards the pack house. They were all SUV's.

Very typical, Valentina thought and rolled her eyes as she looked toward the cars. I can tell that this is going to be a long one week.

Soon the cars came to a stop. In the first car there was a pristine man who stepped out and closed the door. He was wearing an all black white suit with black sunglasses. Valentina hated why everything was so cliche. But she tried her best to hide her annoyance so that she wouldn't seem rude.

She reached up and tugged her coat some more. It was really cold today and she was close to shivering. Shay was really annoying her now with the pacing in her head. She couldn't think straight because she felt excited and nervous at the same time.

Right after this, I'm going for a run, she thought.

Three more men got out of the second SUV and walked to the fourth one to open the door, and King Henry and Queen Matilda stepped out. Soon after, Prince Alexander walked out of the fifth SUV.

Valentina kept her head down, because the cold winter air was starting to suffocate her. There was a distinct scent in the air. It was so strong and intoxicating. It was like it wanted her to die just from scenting it. It scented like almond and maple, and it scented so good.

Alpha Austin and Luna Margaret moved closer as the royal family came close to the pack house. She lifted her head and saw Alpha Austin and Luna Margaret bowing to the King, Queen and the Prince.

After that, Prince Alexander started walking down the line of young unmated females. Valentina could feel her heart thumping out of her chest as she felt tingles all around her. She quickly put her head down again.

The truth was going to come out and she really wasn't ready for it. She knew what was going to happen and she was so terrified. She just wanted to go home.

Her throat went dry and she could feel him stop in front of her. She could feel the power radiating from him. She could feel the air change. Shay was losing her mind. She was so happy and Valentina was so scared. Once she looked up, she knew everything was going to change, but she wasn't ready.

Oh my God, why does this have to happen to me? she thought.

She felt his warm fingertips on the bottom of her chin. It sent shivers down her spine. She wanted more, wanted more of his touch. It was like her body needed it. She wanted to throw her arms around him.

"Mate!" Shay said in her head.

He lifted her chin up slowly, and everything paused. She saw his beautiful green eyes. It was like she was staring into his soul. They were so close that she could hear him breathing. His steady breathing was the best music she had ever heard. Her breathing nearly stopped. It felt like she was floating

His green eyes, green like a bed of grass in the summer were staring into hers he took his hand off her chin and gently took her hand. He pulled it up to his mouth and spoke.

"I believe you're my Luna and Queen," he said in a deep and enchanting voice. Then he kissed her hand with his soft lips.

Oh Goddess, Valentina thought.

Queen Matilda cleared her throat, and Valentina finally got a proper chance to look at the Queen and King. They both had dark hair and brown eyes just like Prince Alexander who was still holding her chin. She really didn't want him to let go, but he did. He stepped away and stood next to his mother and then he spoke. "I have found my mate. The search is over," Prince Alexander said. Everyone could hear what he said because all werewolves had super hearing and could hear if someone just spoke. Valentina was still in shock, and she didn't even want to see the expression on anyone's face. She just wanted to go home and brush this whole day off as if it never happened. She was afraid that if she was to look at Prince Alexander again, she wouldn't be able to keep her eyes away. She could tell that everyone in the pack were really shocked at the turn of events. It was getting really aw

It was such a simple yet difficult question. His soft lips touched hers, and Valentina felt this hunger inside her, so much that she wanted to feed it. She threw her arms in over his wide and broad shoulders and it just felt like the whole world was spinning around her. His hands went to the back of her head as he pushed her closer to him gently. His warm tongue slipped into her mouth so easily and as she tasted it, she realized that she loved how she felt when he kissed her. Then they pulled away for air, and Valentina began to feel like she had been suffocated. She quickly closed her eyes because she was afraid to look at him. After a while she opened her eyes and when she looked around, he was not there anymore. She still looked around once more and when she saw nothing or no one, she was a bit disappointed. He must be really fast, Valentina thought. Of course he is. He is the future Alpha King of all the whole werewolves. Valentina started to walk through the forest as she kn

It was 7 o'clock in the evening and Valentina was in her old room at her parents house. The room brought back so much nostalgia to her, but she still loved it. She smiled so much while looking at the medium sized room which had felt big to her as a teenager. The walls were all white because her mom had never let Valentina paint her white walls. Everything in the room was light colored. The window was small and her desk was directly underneath the window.Valentina had always liked the color black as a child but her mom refused to make her whole closet or even her room that color. After moving out of the house, she sold most of her old colorful clothes and gave the rest to Kendra. Now all she owned was gray, black, and white. Valentina was sitting at the desk looking at herself in the small mirror. Then she decided to wear makeup tonight for her date.Date, Valentina thought. I am going on a date with a man that is the Prince of all werewolves, and he is my mate. At this point it is

Mrs. Sharpe quickly turned away from the stove and she went to answer the door. All Valentina was able to hear from the doorway was muffled talking and then she heard the sound of her mom walking towards the living room. She was too scared to move and thought she clearly needed to be slapped, because why would a confident adult female like her be scared of a man even though he was the prince and future king of all werewolves? Her mom slowly walked back into the kitchen. "The Prince is here and he is waiting for you in the living room," she said with a huge sweet smile on her face. Yeah, this is going to be a long night, Valentina thought, nodding and she started to walk toward the living room. Alexander was standing with red roses in his hands. He was wearing a midnight black suit and his hair was gelled back professionally. Valentina almost fell because of the sight of him, and she thought that she clearly needed to be ran over by a truck because of how she was acting in front of

In fact, the whole car was full of his intoxicating scent.Shay finally calmed down in Valentina's head, and she was grateful because the pacing wasn't helping her at all.She opened her eyes to take a look at Alexander, and she saw that he had been watching her this whole time. "Does your definition of dominance change?" he asked in his deep and husky voice. No, Valentina thought but she didn't say anything. So Valentina had to think whether the lack of change of her definition meant he had some sort of affect on her.It would have been crazy if he didn't have a sort of affect on her, being that she was his soulmate. "Valentina, how much do you know about my family?" Alexander asked. She tried to think about how much knowledge she had on them. She knew that they lived far from her pack, like a place you had to get to using an airplane. They lived in a different country to her. They lived in a tropical forest in Australia. That was where the Royal palace was located, and it was hidden from the regular people. Valentina knew that the members of the Royal Family were Queen Matilda and King Henry, and Alexander who was their only child. I think that is all I know about them, she concluded to herself."I don't know a lot about the Royal Family," she said while shaking her head as she tried to remember any kind of information she could. "So that explains your behavior when me and my family arrived," Alexander noted and she gasped and then ducked her face in mock mortification. "Explain how my behavior was to me," she said to him while raising her head up slightly to glance at him. He chuckled quie

She got in the covers and Valentina laid her head on her mom as if she was her pillow. "Mom," Valentina called out and her mom hummed in response. "I don't think I will ever be ready to be a Queen." Her mom lifted her hand up and began to trace it along Valentina's back. "Valentina, you have always been a Queen. It was just never confirmed until now. So now you have to actually be the Queen you have always been. And I am very sure you will be a great one." Valentina sank into her mom's body deeper and deeper, but she didn't l

It was an unassuming house, a three-story building, red brick with black shutters on a corner lot of the quiet street. Alex had parked two blocks away. Gareth and Matt took the back while Matilda and Alex approached from the street. Brown leaves were scattered on the lawn. Two maple trees and some miniature shrubs offered little in the way of concealment, so they stayed to one side of the building. "Hang back," Alex told Matilda."Yeah, right," she scoffed. Alex glanced at his mother and saw an annoying smirk. Yes! She would find this interesting, he thought dryly. Especially after what she had done earlier. Maltilda had helped them distract the demon wolves and even after then when Alex was on the verge of death. When he was torn between two critical decisions, Maltida had also been the one that rescued all the pack warriors. She had brought out their ice cannon and shot it at all the demon wolves, freezing them to death immediately. How she had done it so expertly and swift, he

Val woke up to a dark room. The sniffed around and the room smelt stange. Unfamiliar. Her head was banging and her throat was dry and scorching. Her whole body aches from having slept in the hard rugged ground. For some minutes, she could not remember what had happened and what she was doing in such a strange place. "Anyone there?" She called out as loud as she could as she blinked rapidly against the dark room. She tried to rack her brain to remember how she got. Wait a minute... she had gotten to the entrance of the witches kingdom, then she had heard a sound behind her, then she had turned to see some group of scary looking men, and then they had.. "Ohhh," she mouthed as her face contorted with horror. Yes! she had felt a very sharp and intense pain when they had hit her with something on her head. She did not even know what the thing was. It had happened too fast and she wasn't expecting it. Then she remembered something else, and this time, her breath caught hard in her throat.

By the time Val was done bathing, it was already noon. She was now feeling much better and stronger. She felt her muscles loosen and untie themselves in anticipation of a great journey. Pulling a blouse over her head, a smile spread across her face as she chortled quietly. Earlier today, it had been so funny when she had asked her mother about Sophie and her expression had changed. She had thought of the worst things that could have happened to her baby. But as it turned out, nothing had happened. Her mother had just decided to tease her a little, which had gone all wrong. She had been so vexed with her mom that she had demanded to be left alone for some times. But thank goodness, Sophie's condition had improved. Well technically, not really. The boils and rashes were still covering her skin, only that she had stopped her shrieking noise. The only thing she does when she feels the pain is to cry quietly. It was as if she had gotten used to it. Sophie was such a strong baby. As li

Roshan stood in front of his warriors, moving stealthily around and listening carefully for the slightest movement. Where could the Red Moon Pack bastards have gone? he wondered. He scanned the entire environment, he looked up at the sky, still he found not even a trace of them. He began stamping his feet on the ground to check if they had dug the earth up to cover themselves, but the ground was still as sturdy as ever. Then out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a foot track. He snorted contemptuously. Bastards been thinking they're smart, huh? He thought. He started tracing the track, moving carefully forward. Then he came to the end of the track. He gritted his teeth in anger. "Bastards!" he growled angrily. He started going from where he had first seen the track. All of a sudden, he stopped as if a thought had occured to him. He put a finger in his lips, signalling his pack members to be as quiet as they could be. Slowly, he raised his head up to stare up at the trees. "Stand

The demon wolves looked around to know where the sound was coming from. Even Alex was surprised. They could still hear the snapping of bones but they didn't know where it was coming from. Then there was a howl of pain followed by the ripping sound of clothes. Everyone turned in the direction of the sound. It was Kendra. She had shifted to her wolf form. Even the demon wolf that had been dragging her by her hair was surprised, he hadn't even noticed her slipping from his grasp and transforming. Without warning, Alex gave Kendra's daughter to one of the lower rank warriors. "Give the pup to her mother!" He instructed. "Alexander, you're making a hell of mistake!" the Alpha demon wolf said, revealing his slightly crooked fangs. He was glaring at Alex aggressively, and an intense murderous intention was evidently written on his face. "Bring it on, monster!" The Alpha demon wolf growled at him. He seemed not to like being called a monster. Good. Alex noted. "If you think anyone will b

The demon wolf turned and the only thing Alex could think about for a while was, what the fuck? What kind of a creature was this? he thought. In fact they shouldn't be called demon wolves at all, rather they should be called demon monster because what in goodness name was this? The demon wolf was twice in size as a normal werewolf, and he had a very ugly face. To Alex, the demon wolf that had just turned to look at him looked like shit. He'd obviously carried her to the bed. She just knew it, but the realization was both heartwarming and unnerving. She wondered if he'd slept at all. She was guessing not. He was probably still angry with her for what she had done yesterday. He was probably still thinking about how stubborn and strong headed she had been. If only a wink for a few minutes could be called a sleep, then let's just say he had just woken up from that sleep. He was feeling restless. Every bone in his body seemed to be complaining. And he knew the reason for that. Something in his guts was telling him he had made a very terrible mistake by letting his wife and daughter go without anyone to protect them. He knew that Val was a little bit overconfident about her fighting skills and abilities as a warrior. But that might not be just enough to protect her and from the sorcery of those evil witches.
