46: Jayce

Jayce adjusted the collar of his button up, loosening it from his throat. The awkward tension in the room was suffocating. After their arrival to Aiden's community, Aiden and Winston led the group to their community center where a meeting room was set up for them. Except, it didn't feel or appear like the normal meeting rooms Jayce was accustomed to. There were two map layouts on one wall. One larger map of the United States with red pins scattered across, ranging from the lower end of California to the outskirts of New York. Amidst those red pins were fewer black pins. If he had to guess, the black pins signified Dark Witches while the red were the Undead they were rising. A smaller map rested beside it of a blueprint of the community he was currently in, along with what appeared to be a nearby town. He recalled Amira mentioning of a small town where she had originally met Aiden, Darlow. Now to be non-existent in its previous residents minds.

The tension in the air was sickeningly thick as he, Aiden and Jayce walked the dirt roads of Aiden's community. A Rogue town with no name. Far off the winding path of society. Dante had walked many roads like this one. In every direction, an endless passage. Such was his immortal fate. Immortality. For the longest time, the word was only just a word to him and held no significance. He watched many civilizations rise and fall. Buildings crumbled on either side of him. The sun and moon constantly shifted in the skies, but time remained effortlessly still yet forever moving forward with him. He had all the time at his disposal only for it to be forever wasted on his greedy tendencies and frivolous style of living. But time finally seemed to slow down when he met Willow. His dear, sweet Willow. So youthful and wise with centuries of Magic and knowledge coursing through her veins. Many women had stood before him. Many women have lain beneath him. There was no woman like Willow, however.

  • The Fated Queen   48: Myra

These woods were not like the ones behind her home. The trees were thin with barely a leaf holding on. Even with it being late into the autumn season, the trees were barren. The young girl stood at the edges of the tree line on the outskirts of the community. The muffled sounds of the children playing behind her. Her brothers shifted and wrestling with one another. To meet with the Rogue pack should have left them reeling, but it didn't. Perhaps it differed from their perspectives. That maybe the Rogues didn't seem so different from themselves. She could get along with the other children perfectly fine. Joking and playing as if they were just cousins they haven't met because of their distance. Even though that was the case for her, she knew it wasn't so simple for her parents. Especially being the Werewolf King and Queen amidst a pack of Rogue Wolves."What are you looking at?" A small voice reached out to her. Myra looked over her shoulder to find a few children around her age had

Blood dripped from his hands. The deafening silence of the crowd that surrounded him was earsplitting. The mangled corpse of the man lay crumbled at his feet, a pool of dark red blood gathered beneath him. Astonished and fearful gazes peered into him, judging him. "You killed him..." A small child whispered. He peered over at the young girl dressed in dirty rags with her mother standing behind her. Freckles dotted the young girl's cheeks and nose, her dirty red hair a tangled mess, yet relief reflected in her eyes.---"How could you?!" A powerful voice thundered around him, forcing him to his knees. "You killed a mortal!" "I killed an abuser! A molester!" He argued in turn. "That is not your call to make." The voice countered back. He tried to peer up at the commanding presence, but was overwhelmed by the sheer force of it. "You are a Guardian. You are only meant to protect the innocent!" "I protected the child!" He retorted. "I did what I believed was right." "You're an Angel.

This was not what he had expected to happen. Zalakai stood on the other side of the man-made cell in the basement of their community center. Nol was awake, yet unmoving from his position against the wall. The Demon looked utterly miserable and defeated, yet there was a strange glimmer of relief in his eyes. Perhaps it was due to the mark missing from his chest that he felt that sense of relief. No longer bound by the Dark Witch, Karmina. "Oi." Her sweet voice drifted into his ears. "You better get up here." Rayleigh stated. "The King is about to go ape shit on your friend there if you don't intercede." "Should I let him?" He asked her as he walked away from the cell. "He did try to kill his offspring." "It's a good reason, but the Queen is finding the behavior offputting." Rayleigh mentioned as they went upstairs. "Nol had full intentions of killing Myra, yet managed to fight off Karmina's control instead." "I believe I have a half of an answer to that theory." He stroked his ch

"Dammit, Lily." Jayce stormed off after her as she chased after Myra. "What do you want me to say to her, Jayce?" She spun around to face him. "I am angry, but most of all I am relieved that our daughter is safe and mostly unharmed. You should be too." "I am relieved, but I am allowed to be furious." He towered over her, but Lily held his angry gaze. She was one of the rare few that would never back down from his dominating stance. King or otherwise. "She approached the monster. Hell, she even tried defending his actions." "She saw something that we didn't." She stated. "It might have been the same when I confronted Chelsea." Jayce shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair with his jaw clenched. "Don't start." He set his hands on his hips. "She can't be experiencing this Angel bullshit to. She just can't." "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but our daughter is a hybrid." Lily reminded him as she gestured between them. "That is something out of our control." "We had control

"Myra!" Lily called out as she walked down the community center halls. If not for her heightened sense of smell, finding Myra would have taken ages. But she knew her daughter's scent now and tracked her down to a small corner of an office room. Her daughter was curled up on a patched up sofa when she stepped into the room. Myra barely gave her a glance before she turned away from him. "Not everyone is the enemy." Myra sniffled as she wiped her nose with her shirt. "I know." Lily crouched down in front of her. "Your father and I were terrified for your safety, Myra." "I get that." Myra grumbled. "But dad goes into murder mode instantly when the slightest things happen." "A Demon nearly killing you is not something slight, Myra." Lily countered. "You know what I meant." Myra sniffled again. Lily frowned. She understood what Myra meant. She moved to sit beside her on the sofa. "Your father has always been like that, even when we first met." "Really?" Myra asked as she glanced up

He held up the small, smooth and circular object up to the dim lamplight that hung over his workstation. The light brass shine shimmered from the polish it received just seconds ago. Aiden rested it on the small table before him, turning it over once. Twice. Three times. Every knick smoothed out. Every stain cleared away and polished over. It wasn't something most may not go for, but he hoped it would satisfy her until he could get her something better. "Aiden?" Her sweet voice caught his ears before she showed herself at the garage door entrance. "There you are." She sighed. "Did you talk to Jayce yet?" "Not exactly." He said as he picked up the object and held it in his hand. "I don't think I'm the best person for that kind of talk, to be honest." Her scent drifted around him like a swept up wind gust as she approached him. "We can't have them fighting right now, either. Hm?" He caught sight of her white hair swaying as she inclined her head. "What's that?" "Just somethin

Myra, breathe."I can't, Kaia." Myra sniffled as she leaned against the wall. Even after her mother did her best to calm her the other day, her emotions were still at an all-time high. She remembered this feeling. Back when she returned to school. The boy that teased her and talked badly about her own mother, his Luna of all people. Even as she thought back on that, the bones in her body ached. I know you're scared, child, but bear with it just a little longer. We'll get through this together. "Does this always happen?" Myra asked as she lowered herself down to the floor and wrapped her arms around her knees. I... I'm not sure. The only one who would truly know is the King.Myra hadn't spoken to her father since saving her. Or at least, since he wanted to kill the Demon that attempted to kill her. Jayce had been keeping his distance, not just from her, but from Lily as well. She heard through the grapevine that they had a pretty intense argument that left them at odds. Which was st

Her heart was in her throat. As she stood in front of the Pack House. Jayce, after making the call, was informed that Damien was still at the Pack House, recovering. As well as Erica being at his side. "Do you need a moment?" Jayce asked her as he held open the door. Lily let out a shaky breath. "No. No more waiting." Jayce gave her a small smile as he took her hand and led her inside. The Pack House was busy. His Warriors were preparing with all weaponry available in their arsenal. Jayce's men looked relieved to see them again. Each one arched their necks in respect as they walked past. "It's an adjustment." Lily smiled awkwardly. "Having gone to a Rogue community who don't care what title you carry, to a home where everyone looks up to you." "It was a small reprieve." Jayce admitted. His hand grasped hers. "For once, not having others turn to me as their leader, but just as another Wolf." His eyes softened. "It was a different perspective, but a necessary one." "Jayce..." Lil

Home. He set the bags on the bed, his eyes swept the room. It had only been a week since they departed from here, but it seemed like months since they've been gone. There was much to do before the battle happened. The talk with the other Alphas. Finalizing safety protocol with the Pack members that hadn't left. Damien. "Damien." He murmured softly. He hadn't heard anything after what had happened. Aside from being stabilized, he hadn't heard from his Beta, his best friend. Was he alright? Angry? Disappointed? "Jayce?" Lily's soft voice reached his ears from the doorway. He hadn't heard her come to the room. "Do you want to see him?" "I will." He reassured her, but hesitance still lingered. Lily sensed it and walked over to wrap her arms around his waist. "Everything will be okay. I'm sure he missed you just as much as you missed him." "Will you confront Erica?" He asked as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "The last time you two were together, it wasn't pleasant." Lily

The familiar foyer was a sight for sore eyes. The warmth and security of their home was a long wait that was overdue. Everything appeared as it should. No Undead wandering about. No decaying wallpapers or blood streaks of violence. Tidy. Clean. Home. Lily released a breath she didn't realize she was holding. "We're back." She whispered. "I never realized how much I missed home until a situation occurs." Jayce voiced alongside her. The tension in his shoulders easing slightly. His nose wrinkled as he picked up the scents. "I'll be..." "Jayce? Lily?" A young male voice chipped in from the kitchen. A tall, more on the slender side version of Jayce peeked his head from around the kitchen doorway. His short black hair pushed back from his face as he grinned. "Shit, you're home." "Elias." Lily smiled instantly as Jayce's younger brother walked over to greet them. "How long have you been here?" She asked as she hugged him. "It feels like I haven't seen you in months. When did you get so

"Are you sure you don't want to wait another day?" Aiden asked Willow as they all walked down the dirt road. "I don't think one more day won't hurt us if you need to gather yourself after that ordeal." A handful of children ran by, laughing like the fight to come was nonexistent. Carefree regardless of the nightmare his community suffered through just a few days ago. Willow shook her head adamantly. "We can't continue to delay every time Karmina throws a wrench in our plans." "I'm afraid she's right." Dante agreed. He had discarded his ichor stained vest and switched out his slacks for a fresh pair. "As much as I desire a reprieve from Karmina's stunt, the longer we hold off, the stronger she will get." "Will Winston cover for you in the mean time?" Lily asked as her eyes swept over the shops and houses they walked past. "I trust Winston to keep things running no matter what." Aiden adjusted the strap on his shoulder. "Besides, my mom will also be here." He felt Amira's quick gla

Willow's gasped loudly before she coughed heavily. "Willow!" Dante wrapped his arms around her after Jayce released her and stepped away. She dry heaved while she clung to Dante. "My sweet Pixie, what on Earth happened to you?" He pushed her hair back from her face. "Karmina had her." Jayce coughed, his voice partially warped. He ran a hand over his face as he turned away from everyone. Lily walked past Willow as Dante tended to her and approached Jayce. "Nox?" She called out gently as she placed a hand on Jayce's arm. His body tensed under her touch. His fingers parted enough to show his Wolf eyes. "Are you alright? Did she hurt you to?" Lily asked worriedly. He let out a sigh. While he kept a hand over his face, perhaps not to alarm the others, his other hand rested over hers. "It's strange diving into someone else's mind that is not my Mate or children." He admitted gruffly. "Perhaps you see them as part of the Pack more than you realized." She stated. Jayce lowered his hand

"Willow?" Dante's concerned tone drew Jayce's attention, along with the others. As he peered back, he found Willow stock still just past the entryway. Her eyes glazed over milky white. Dante had taken her hand in his, his eyes searching her face as he waited. "A vision?" Amira asked as she set a foot on the first step. "It's nothing out of the ordinary." Aiden huffed softly as he switched his grip on one bag. "She'll come out of it in a moment." Dante reassured, yet his shoulders appeared tense. "Her visions don't hurt her, do they?" Lily asked worriedly as she stood beside Jayce. "No. They're pretty harmless." Dante confirmed, as he brushed Willow's bangs from her eyes. "She told me they feel real while she's... away." He tilted his head from side to side as he tried to explain. "But no physical harm." Jayce studied Willow carefully. The way her brows seemed to draw just a fraction closer together. The way her lips part in the slightest bit. "Does she normally react outwardly

"Sounds like they patched things up." Aiden cleared his throat as he moved away from the staircase. "How do you know?" Willow asked, perplexed. Aiden tapped his ear. "It can be a blessing and a curse." The once naive young girl wouldn't have guessed what he meant by that, but the grown young woman felt her cheeks flush lightly from the inclination. Aiden joined Amira by the front door as she went over the duffle bags. "Got everything you need?" "Weapons, both blade and gun. Medical kits. The bow." She pointed to each bag. "To list a few." "Clothes?" He chuckled softly. Amira, without missing a beat, held up the backpack. "Ah. Good." The wooden floor creaked from the second floor as Jayce and Lily emerged. Lily's cheeks were still lightly flushed while Jayce had a small smirk on his lips. "You both look well." Willow commented. Lily looked down at the group as they descended the steps. She averted her gaze shyly while Jayce made no attempt to hide their intimate encounter earlier

When was it that he last touched me like this?Jayce's lips glided along the arc of her throat. His tongue flickered out to feel her pulse that raced beneath her skin. His hand roamed over the curve of her hip, his fingers hooking on the leggings she wore and tugged them down earnestly. Lily felt his Mark ignite, throbbing with an ache that had been deprived for months. Her nails dug into his back, raising a soft growl from his throat. The sound raised goosebumps along her exposed legs and a shiver to run down her spine. He sat up. His fingers shifted into claws and tore her shirt open. Ten years ago, this would have surprised her, even made her call out in shock, but her fingers caressed his cheeks and brought him back down in a welcoming kiss. She felt him sigh against her lips as he melted against her. His claws woven into her hair as he wedged himself between her thighs. "Lily..." His voice a deep rumble in his chest. "I have a darkness within me." He murmured against her lips.

His head ached when he stirred. There was a slight weight on his chest when his eyes fluttered open. As his blurred vision began to clear, he recognized the room he and Lily were guests in at Aiden's home. The warm glow of the setting sun spread across the ceiling through the blinds. He inhaled deeply. The sweet scent of Lilies filled his senses and his eyes dropped to his Mate and her head that rested on his chest. Lily... The flash of memory from his Wolf nearly taking her life flooded his mind. He squeezed his eyes shut, his hand clamped over his face when he felt her shift and sit up. Her sleepy gaze swept over him before they brightened with alertness. "Jayce!" She smiled with relief. "You scared me. You've been out for a couple of days." She informed him as she brushed his hair from his face. "Lily..." He grumbled weakly. "The kids will be so relieved." She went on. "Myra has been worried sick, and the boys are confused." "Lily." His sharp tone ended in a growl. She fell
