“Would you like to order anything else?” a young petite waitress asked Kevin. She had served him and his companion breakfast, and she was now clearing up the table after their meal.

“No thank you,” Kevin said as he paid the bill. As usual, he gave a generous tip and left the small restaurant. He walked around the town leisurely as he looked at the white buildings that lined both the sides of the narrow street. The houses all looked the same as they were made of coral stone, and the only thing that set them apart was the huge uniquely carved doors. Kevin had come here because it was the best place to unwind without worry of meeting someone who would recognize him. He needed a break from reality.

“I want more beer,” the girl who was on Kevin’s side said. She startled him as he had forgotten she was there.

“Ok. Can we go to a different pub? Which one plays better music?” he asked. He was getting bored here and he thought of relocating to the bigger coastal island. The night life was muc

Ella looked at the date on her phone calendar and she gasped in surprise. It would soon be three months since she had moved in with Blake and began their arrangement. Ella had been a nervous wreck at the beginning, but she eventually developed a coping mechanism that was working for her. The main source of her serenity had come when she had learnt not to judge herself too harshly. Despite this, many things about the arrangement still confused her. Behind closed doors, Blake was a sweet and sensitive lover. He had learnt how to get Ella to respond to his touch and they had both begun to enjoy their time together. However, everything changed when morning came. Blake would change from the flirty man who seduced Ella every night, and turned into an extremely polite boss with Ella. At times, he even bordered on aloofness. On the other hand, Jason was thriving like a flower in spring. He had regained his speech completely and was doing well in school. Ella had enjoyed daily drives outside

“Good morning,” said the tall dark man that was towering over Ella. She was at a small coffee house having a moccalata and chocolate cake. This had become one of her favourite places to utilise her free hours. “Good morning,” she replied in surprise as the man took the seat across from her. Ella looked around the coffee shop and she could see several empty tables. She didn’t understand why the man had chosen to join her. The waiter came over and took his order before he turned his attention back to her. “I’m sorry to bother you but this is my table. I always sit here when I'm having my morning coffee,” he said.“That’s ok. I can move,” Ella said as she began to rearrange her things.“Please don’t move darling. To be honest, I’ve seen you here a couple of times and I think you are beautiful. I want to get to know you better,” he said. Ella almost gasped when she realised just how perfect his smile was. It looked like something out of a toothpaste commercial. “Was that a pick up line

Eddie Carter jumped into his double cab pickup truck and drove to work. He took one last glance at the beauty whom he had just been chatting up and smiled. They all claimed to be taken but he knew that this was every woman’s way of playing hard to get. Ella was a real natural beauty. Her oval face made her big eyes that were surrounded by long eyelashes stand out in a crowd. Her tiny nose made her look dainty and her full lips looked like they were begging to be kissed. But this wasn’t the thing that had caught his attention. Several days ago, Ella had walked into the coffee shop and walked to the counter. She made her order and then settled in a corner seat. Eddie had to admit that her figure had caught his attention right away. She was wearing tight blue jeans and a fitting blouse. Although she had an ample bust, her hips drove him crazy the minute he spotted her. He watched her scroll through her phone as she waited for her order and he knew he had to make a move. The waitress soon

Blake watched Ella as she timidly walked to the bathroom. As soon as she closed the door, he walked to the other bedroom to take a quick shower. He had been livid with anger when David had told him that she was having coffee with an unknown man. The photos he had received showed Ella smiling as she played with her hair. She had never been that flirty or relaxed with him even when they lay naked in bed together. The photos had taken him back to a dark place in his life. He remembered countless reports of his ex wife being spotted in various establishments with different men. He had tried everything from threatening her to withholding money but it had only fuelled her hobby. She would always make time for her clandestine activities. She never cared about his reputation or what this looked like for their marriage. After all, she knew that as long as Jason needed her, Blake could never get rid of her. He had always wanted to instil some fear in her, but he had never been able to do this.

Ella walked to her room trembling. When she closed the door behind her, she lost the strength in her knees and sank to the floor. It had felt good to tell Blake off and let out the tension and anger that had piled up in her heart. She had endured humiliation, degradation, and all sorts of subtle abuses in the last three months. She had never slept hungry or wanted for anything, but the last few days of freedom had made it clear that there was so much more to life. But then she wondered about what she had just done. Ella had told Blake that she wanted to leave and that she would forfeit everything. So how was she going to survive? She had no job and her monthly allowance would at most secure her a rental unit. ‘What I’m I thinking? Is this the same allowance that I told Blake to recover?’ Ella said to herself as she tapped herself on the forehead. As she changed into her sleeping clothes, she thought of another part of the conversation that was disturbing her. He had said that he was i

Kevin had this thought in mind when he had chosen a fancy pub to eat and drink in Hurlingham. He was tired of drinking with people who just wanted his money. This had been the first thought when she woke up in the morning. She had been so eager to take up this job because it was within her hometown. After seeing the children off to school, Jessica had borrowed her father’s car and driven to the county offices. After establishing the drop off office, she parked the car on the edge of the parking lot. It was a bright Sunday morning and the mood in the room was relaxed. Ella and Blake had woken up earlier and shared a shower which had led them straight back to bed. After a steamy session of lovemaking, the couple lay in bed in silent reflection. Blake finally broke the silence when he kissed Ella’s forehead.“Maybe we should get out of bed now,” he said as he cuddled her closer. “You make the bed very cosy. I could stay here all day,” she said. She planted a gentle kiss on his chest and then she sat up. Blake pulled her back into the bed and gave her a long hard kiss. Ella could see the look of pure desire in his eyes and she knew exactly what he wanted. “I thought we were getting out of bed,” she said teasingly. “It’s still early. We could…” he said trailing kisses along her shoulder and neckline. He moaned deeply when a faint gasp escaped from her lips. Soon they were locked in another kiss but it was not long before a persistent knock interrupted them.“Daddy, open the door,”

Back at the Raymond residence, there was confusion and excitement amongst the staff. Only one driver was aware of when Ella had returned, and he explained how he had simply picked her up from an apartment complex. He had been with the Raymond family for years and he knew how to be discreet while releasing just enough information to generate some counter intelligence. The man could clearly recall the animated conversation which he had subsequently narrated to Blake.“Are you sure you picked her up from an apartment? I was there when the police dragged her out of the house. Blake must have picked her up from a police station,” Dora said. She had come downstairs with rage and explained to the other staff members how Blake’s criminal ex-wife had sneaked back into the house.“We picked her up at a middle class estate. I don&
