That was impossible. I can't be pregnant. I just missed my period which seemed normal considering all I'd been through in the past few days.
Deep down, I felt a tingling nervousness stirring up but I kept convincing myself with my thoughts. I rinsed my mouth and headed to the hall.
A few of the guests who already recognized my face greeted me as I passed by the hall leading to the staircase beside the main hall.
Just as I responded to them, the aroma from one of the servers' trays filled my nose and I felt another surge to throw up.
I instantly rushed back to the bathroom. Meanwhile I had attracted the attention of a good number of eyes.
I rinsed my mouth after puking and applied a lipstick to my already dry and washed lips.
"Are you okay?" a female voice from behind asked.
"Oh! You startled me," I said, surprised to see Annabel. My heart skipped a beat as I couldn't imagine her seeing me throwing up.
"Sorry. One of the guests ran into the hall to inform us about your condition," Annabel said, staring at me with innocent eyes. How can someone be this nice?
I smiled weakly at her and exited the bathroom while she followed behind. I was taken back when I saw Leo and his father just as I stepped into the hall outside the toilet.
"Are you okay, my dear? Come here," Mr. Robbins beckoned to him. His show of affection stunned me. I went close to him while he acted like an overprotective father-in-law.
I bet Leo could not provide any excuse for his nonchalant attitude towards me. All he did was stare and put his arms around me.
Mr. Robbins stared at his son for a short while as the guests went back to facing their business then he muttered, "Can you be a bit responsible to your Wife? You're a married man now and we've got too many eyes on you today."
Leo nodded and we moved with the other guests to join the party. My fake husband then suddenly turned real.
He was all over me, holding my hand, introducing me to various dignitaries, kissing my hand and pecking my cheeks.
I noticed how Annabel kept her gaze on Leo which got me worried but all my doubts were wiped away when Leo gave our speech for the night.
He held my hand as he spoke into the microphone. My legs almost gave way but I managed to act cool.
"Thank you all for celebrating my wife and I. We're very grateful for your presence at this event.
I also appreciate every staff and executive of R&B Group for gracing this occasion with their presence and for their undying trust in me. Thank you Dad and Kay for always having faith in me. I promise to always keep the company at the top. And finally, to my darling wife…"
My heart beat so fast as he said those last words. I couldn't stop my thoughts from flooding my mind. Had Leo changed? Did his father's warning perform miracles? Is he trying to be nice to me now or is it all a facade? I knew Leo Robbins never liked me but his affection all through the night was so confusing.
He didn't whisper any shitty comment or roll his eyes in disapproval of anything I did. It was as if Cinderella's godmother had waved her magic wand to transform him. I smiled and paid attention to what he was about to say to me.
"Emily, I know these past few days has been hard for you. Getting those unnecessary and unwanted attention but I promise you that our union would be worth it. You won't regret saying Yes to me. Words can't describe how much I love you but I promise to show you that you mean the world to me in each day of our lives," he said and without any warning, he placed his lips on mine.
I had never been so startled in my entire life. I was taken with emotions as I wrapped my arms around his neck and returned his kiss. The whole crowd cheered and applauded us.
Our lips were locked for about two minutes as we smooched publicly. The paparazzi got what they wanted as cameras flashed in our eyes which put a stop to what we were doing.
Leo smiled brightly at me and picked me up in a bridal carry. My heart melted as I stared at him. I couldn't take my eyes off him as he carried me down to the dance floor. He wrapped his hand around my waist as we began to waltz to a song.
All the nervousness and anxiousness I had felt all through the party blew away while I danced in his arms. I was starting to fall for him and it felt safe. He was starting to open up to me afterall.
It might all seem sudden and untrue but what I was feeling and the love he was showing me were all real.
He was extremely romantic. He could not hide his feelings so well if it was all a lie. At least, I'll get cues from him.
We moved from the dance floor to greet and thank our guests as some of them made to leave.
One of R&B Group's most preferred reporters approached us while we sat at a table. I fell silent as the waiters served us a meal.
Mr. Robbins had insisted that we ate something at the party as he stated that I was definitely hungry. I knew it was for the press but I wouldn't refuse another opportunity to stay with my husband.
I kept wishing the night wouldn't end because it was unbelievable. A billionaire was starting to fall for me?!
"Sorry to disturb you, Mr. Robbins but just before the waiters finish serving the meal, can I ask a few questions?" he asked.
"It's okay, Mr. Greg. Please ensure to put us in a good light as you've always done," Leo said.
Mr. Greg nodded and said, "Congrats on your engagement. I wish you both a happy union. Without beating around the bush, I'll like to get a brief on Mrs Robbins background because this is one of the major trending news and most asked question online."
My heart started beating fast again as he dropped his question. The night was going well but he had to ruin it with his unwanted curiosity.
I turned my face to Leo who kept his cute smile on his face. Would he reveal my background? Even though he didn't know much about me, he knew my family name which didn't meet his standards the last time we met.
"Well, meet my beautiful woman, Mrs Emily Robbins, formerly Miss Emily Stevens. She's from a upper class family that runs a tech firm outside the country. I don't want to go into the details tonight but you'll get the full story at our press conference tomorrow. I'm sorry but we can't allow for any exclusive interviews for now," he said, placing his hand over mine as if calming my frayed nerves.
Mr. Greg smiled knowingly, thanked us for our time, and left.
I felt the urge to question Leo but I kept myself in check. It will all be clear once we're done at the party. We had our meal and I felt my stomach churn as I tried to swallow every piece Leo fed me.
Mr. Robbins bade us farewell as we were led by six security men to Leo's personal car. There was a line of three cars like an entourage. This was the world of the wealthy and I was prepared to live in it.
With Leo's new change of heart, all will be well. Even though he was extremely nice to him at the party, I needed to confirm if I should always expect the same attitude from him.
We left La Elegante and off we went to Leo's exotic mansion.
✠✠✠✠✠✠
Shyness overtook me as we stepped into the building. A few maids helped with the gifts we received from the party while I stood in the middle of the spacious hallway facing a huge staircase with gold railings and red carpet. Leo took off his suit and climbed the stairs.
What was happening? At least, he should show me my room. I started getting the feeling that he was turning cold towards me but I hid my fears and even rebuked them. I can't think of such a thing when he was starting to like me.
"Leo!" I called out loud and he stopped on his tracks on the third step. His back remained turned to my direction while it should be the other way around.
I climbed up to meet him and touched his shoulder. "You haven't shown me my room," I said, smiling brightly at him.
Without a warning, he flung my hands off and pushed me down the stairs.

LEO POV"Calm down, young men. You don't need to shut each other up. The more cooperative you are, the better your chances of getting a lesser sentence," the head of the investigation bureau said.Unexpectedly, Emily showed up at the bureau. One of my men came running to me where I stood with Jude in the interrogations room."Mrs. Emily is here and wants to meet you," he said. "Did she know about it?" I asked Jude."I gave them instructions to only apprehend the guys so she wouldn't be too shocked. They didn't wait for the guys to make a move before arresting them," Jude explained."So how did she get the drift?" I asked then left the interrogation room. Jude and the other man followed me as I stepped out of the building. Emily stood by the car and when she saw me, she walked briskly to meet me. Then she stops in front of me and folded her arms over her chest."Why are you here? I felt you would be at the gallery," I said."I was supposed to until I learned that I was the target for a
LEO POV"Fill me in," I said "She has her eyes on Mrs. Emily. My men, I've gotten the necessary information to bring her in. She will execute her plans in a few days. That's when we would strike," he explained."Good! Don't toy with my wife. If your plan might fail, get her arrested immediately," I ordered."Yes boss," he replied and I cut the call. "Something happened?" Jude asked."Annabel's planning something. I knew that she wouldn't back down with all the messages she kept sending me," I said."After what happened between you two, she's bound to keep coming back," Jude said "Nothing happened between us. I made it clear that I did not want her after she attacked Emily," I said."But she came back, didn't she?" Jude said "Why did I ever tell you about it?" I said, my mind wandering off to my previous encounter with Annabel. I had prayed fervently that Emily would never learn of it and unless Jude informed her, she would never know.FLASHBACKOne of my business partners had invi
LEO POV"I can't change my mind," I said with my focus on the vast estate. Its silence was deafening. There was not a single soul in it. "You'll be leaving a lot of memories," she said."I know but I've got bad memories here than the good ones. I'm done with this kind of life. I only want to make good memories now," I said and turned to her. "I want to make good memories with you," I added. She beamed then looked around the house."You won't visit anymore?" She asked."Yes, I'm closing it down," I replied."This is goodbye then," she said."Yeah, it is," I responded, looking around the house once more for one last time. "Let's go," I said and we walked down the driveway to the entrance of the estate. Then I directed my men to lock up the gate. While I'd ensure that the house had strict surveillance from time to time, I had decided never to visit the house again.A MONTH LATEREmily had been moving around nonstop since we woke up that morning. LEO POVI stood before Mr. Fred while he wept bitterly. No one could console him except his daughter who was also waiting for her brother. Just as I had guessed, he had been a victim of the MIR project and had recently died. "I am a bad father. How could I have worked for those who killed my son," he said, beating his chest repeatedly. "I am sorry," I said with my head facing the ground. I was ashamed to look him in the eyes. "Bring my child back! Bring him back!" he yelled dragging me by the collar. My men moved to separate him from me but I gestured to them to stop. I deserved that much for being a Robbins. After pacifying him, I left his house with Emily and my men. Emily had gotten emotional and she kept wiping her face as we drove to another part of the city to tender our apology. IN THE EVENINGWe arrived at the health center where those who were addicted were kept. I met Dane who rushed to my side the minute he saw me."Thank you, Mr. Leo. Thanks so much for bringing my s
LEO POVEmily wrapped her arms around me then patted my back. I rested my head on her shoulders as I wept. I was opwning up completely to her."I'm scared. I know I'm not supposed to be. I'm Leo Robbins, Forbes billionaire with several accolades to my name. I shouldn't be shaken by this but it's too much to take in," I said."You're Leo Robbins, the tough guy but you're also human as well. It's been a lot these past few weeks but you overcame. You set the wrongs right. Even if you're shaken, I'm here to support you," she said. I raised my face to look at her then lifted my head from her shoulder."If you had seen Kay's face. He had no remorse. He felt proud of everything he had done. He smiled and laughed as if he was doing the world a favor. When did he get so callous and inhumane. I might be q rogue or thug but we were not supposed to kill innocent people. Now, the protesters are out there and I also have to answer to those investigations. I knew all this would happen but it hurts t
LEO POVThe lady looked away as she could not catch my face through the tinted glass."There's an entrance at the warehose behind the company building. The route is longer but you'll be fine," I said, describing the direction to the driver. He rolled out of the crowd area and drove off the place I had mentioned. After a few minutes, we arrived at the other entrance and parked at the garage. The office was disorganized when we stepped in. The employees hurried around the lobby when I appeared. I bet they all had rumors to tell about me but I cared less. I was snot going to let the company sink even if I had to go to extremes. The board executives were seated when I arrived. Not one person was missing from the table. I sat down and Emily sat beside me while Jude stood behind me. I felt I didn't need moral support but I was not as strong as I thought. The present situation had weakened me and I needed as much support as I could get."We're all startled by the revelations that showed up
