Shane’s POV
“Baby Shane, please give us a heads up if you’re going to kiss a random guy tonight so we won’t be too shocked.” Olivia teased while placing a few strands of hair beneath my ear.
“Oliv’s right. You should warn us or something so we will be mentally prepared to witness a wild night.” Jase barked in.
“Don’t forget to record it on your phone, just for future references.” Oliv casually said to him.
“Great idea, Olivia. Don’t worry, I will make sure to record it.”
They talked as if this is just a normal conversation for the both of them.
“Wow, you’re actually planning that whole thing with me in front of you? Are you really my friends?”
“Of course, we are your friends. Can’t you feel that we are very supportive with everything you do?”
We are on our way to the bar uptown because Olivia,
Shane's POV“So, you’re a fan of playing temple run?” I heard Erwan asked. When I turned to him, I noticed that he is peering on the screen of my phone.“You should learn to respect other people's privacy by not looking into their phones.” I made a snide remark.I slammed my phone shut and stuffed it into my black handbag because I knew I couldn't concentrate on the game with this man staring at the screen all the time. I turned my attention to the party people on the dance floor, their hips swaying wildly to the rock music.“I wasn't expecting you to be here,” Ewan said quietly.“Are you sure you did not come here because you were following me? Come to think of it, I did tell you a while ago that I will be attending a party tonight here uptown with my friends.” I returned his whisper and turned to face him, making sure that the others cannot hear us.“I was not aware that you were
Shane’s POVSomething in his eyes tells me he's thinking about something profound... about something really deep. Is there something going on here? He's always seemed carefree and laid-back, but this is the first time I've seen him this way.“What gives you the right to ask me that?” I tried to sound irritated, but deep down, I want him to tell me what's going on.“Nothing. I was just asking.” He let out a shrug. Is this how he behaves when he's drunk?“Guys, Liz and I are leaving now because we have something urgent to do!” Liz was giggling behind Rodrick as he walked into our table. He seemed elated. He looks really, really pumped.“I know what you're going to do, so have a good time,” Erwan stated plainly like this was not a new situation for him.“You know too much about me, man. Enjoy the rest of the night,” Rodrick said, giving him a fist bump and doi
Erwan’s POV I parked my car outside the mansion of Mr. Croven and went inside to find Shane. It’s almost 7 pm and she mentioned that she will be going to a party uptown with her friends and I am here to pick her up so I can nag her to let me come with her though I will probably insist to come even though she despise it. “Good evening, sir Erwan.” the maid greeted me with a smile when she held the front door open for me. I gave her a friendly smile. “Is Shane still in her room?” I asked, trying to figure out if she is still upstairs and dressing herself. “No, sir. She left half an hour ago with her friends.” “She already left? But I saw her car parked in the parking area.” I ruffled my brows, not liking the situation. Did she take a cab? “Her friends picked her up, sir.” Ah, so she hopped into either Jase or Olivia’s car. I thanked her and turned my back to walk in the direction of my car. If I had known that she will le
Erwan’s POV“Tell me everything that happened and don’t leave anything out,” Mr. Mavero just arrived from his business trip and he immediately asked to see me the moment he came back. He is looking out the window of his office, dressed in a formal business suit. His aura looks like someone who is plotting a dangerous idea in his mind. It is 8 am in the morning, I can smell the scent of old books that is stored in a shelves in the corner of his office.I cleared my throat and started to narrate the story.“Last Saturday, there’s a man who followed Shane the moment she drove out of the mansion. He is wearing a whole black outfit and he also followed Shane at the mall, it seems like she noticed that the guy is watching her, so she went home with a weary eyes and trembling hands due to fear. She won’t tell me what happened, so I went to the mall and checked the CCTVs and that’s when I real
Shane's POV I am strolling alone in the hallway of our building, I just finished my morning classes and I am on my way to the locker room to store some books when I suddenly felt an arm wrapping me behind my back, the seductive smell of a woman perfume is enough to recognize who it is. “Olivia,” I said as I turned to face her. She let go of my hand and grabbed for my shoulders, looking at me from head to toe as if she were examining every inch of my body. “Can you tell me what you're doing?” I protested, but instead of responding, she simply moved my body around and around, studying it once more. Eventually, she stopped. “Do you know how concerned I am?” her eyebrows furrowed. “I am fine, Olivia. There is nothing to worry about.” “You almost got yourself in danger, and you’re telling me that I do not need to worry?!” she slightly raised her voice that made other students turned to us. I immediately cove
Eighteen: The recognition”Sheez.. he’s a hottie”“Which one? That guy with full of tattoos on his arm? Your taste is awful, Oliv.”Jase and Olivia bickered while we sat in the right corner of a restaurant. It’s six pm and I invited them to have dinner here because I am going to introduce someone important to them. They also wouldn’t let me go home alone after what happened to the locker’s area. There’s no danger, I am sure that no danger or death whatsoever will come in my way tonight unlike what the red note implies. It’s just a threat, it’s not happening tonight. I am too young to die.I have been convincing myself all day that everything’s alright but I know that it isn’t.“Shut up, Jase.” Oliv rolled her eyes at him and sniggered when the so-called hottie guy from another table smiled at her. Olivia’s right, he’s
Third person’s POVHe knows what she’s going to do. He knows what she’s aiming for, she’s beginning to doubt Erwan. She wants to keep him close so she can find out about the plan. He does not know how the idea hits her, but he is aware that she is doubting Erwan. Her questioning stare and doubtful look towards Erwan tell it all. She wants to know it all, but he can’t let her do that in an easy way. He’d been through too much, he can’t let the plan go to waste like this.He paces back and forth inside the darkroom, there is a table with a laptop and a lot of piled papers in top of it. His jacket is wrapped on the back of the swivel chair. He walked to and fro around the room, trying to figure out what to do next. His shadow follows him as his tall and slim figure wandered about the room. The pictures pinned in a wide black bulletin board on the left corner always remind him of his target, of what should he do and what he should
Shane’s POVErwan Fuenter.I typed his name on the search bar of my Instagram account and sneak into his profile. I scrolled down on his account trying to find some clue about his past. His recent post was a year ago, it is a picture of a girl smiling sweetly on the camera. It was captured on the beach, the girl wears a bikini while she sat on the sand.I read the caption of the photo, Veronica, the girl with the sweetest smile. Lovely. It is her, I see, the girl who captured Erwan’s heart. The thought of them together holding hands while walking on the beach and watching the sunset together suddenly entered my mind. How does it feel to be his girl?I shook my head. I just can’t imagine him flexing someone in his Instagram account. He isn’t the type of guy who would do such a thing. But Erwan is Erwan, he is full of surprises. He thinks differently, maybe that’s the very reason w
Shane’s POV “Shane, where are you?” the voice of Olivia greeted me when I answered my phone. “I’m on my way, okay? Don’t worry, I’m going to be there on time.” I said as I searched for the key to my car in my wardrobe. “Seriously, baby Shane? Are you going to be late for this special day of your two best friends?” her voice is slightly rising but I know that she is not mad. “Love you, Oliv. Have to hang up now, bye!” I made a kissing sound on the phone and ended it. When I found the key, I grabbed my handbag and went to the garage to start my car. The beach is packed with people when I reached it, Olivia and Jase invited too many people. “Shane, finally!” a voice called out and I turned to her. It’s Liz. She is wearing the same white dress I am wearing. “Liz!” I went to her and kissed both of her cheeks before asking her Olivia’s whereabouts. “Oh, my gosh. Olivia is freaking out, she thought you
Third Person's POVFrenzo sat on the chair beside his bedroom window. He can see the city lights up there, the busy street, the vehicles going to and fro, the vehicles that are always sure of what directions they should take. He remembered the man in Shane’s office. He knew who he was. He had seen him before, the guy from the bar. The guy from Shane’s past. Erwan Fuenter. He felt his chest tighten as he imagined Erwan and Shane alone in that office. He couldn’t take it. He pretended not to remember him. He pretended that he didn’t notice anything, but he knew what was happening. Fuenter is back. And now, he could feel the changes between him and Shane. She changed. She’s no longer excited whenever she talked to him. She no longer complains to him about the annoying paper works that never seems to lessen in her office. Her smile had changed. She’d been refraining from his touch. Sometimes, she doesn’t answer his calls
Shane's POVThat night, I came back inside the venue, but Frenzo wasn’t there anymore. He asked his secretary to pick me up. He texted that something urgent came up and he can’t able to drive me home. If I just knew, I should have spent more moments with Erwan in that parking lot. I should have chased him.Countless thoughts run through my head as I sat on the airline seat inside the plane. I can’t even start a single work, it’s been a couple of weeks since that night and I couldn’t get a hold of Erwan ever since. I don’t know if he really went abroad or not. I tried to contact him and even went to his house but he is no longer there. His house is empty and there is no lingering presence of him. I am starting to adjust to our new situation. There’s no Erwan who is going to annoy me and make me laugh despite my busy days.I never heard anything from Frenzo since that night as well. It’s like the two
Shane's POVThe next day, he invited me over to attend a party with him but I reasoned out that I had a really tough week and I want to rest for the entire day tomorrow since its the weekend.“Even just for an hour? I don’t want to go there without a partner.” He nagged.“I am really sorry, I am too exhausted for a party.”“Then let me just stay with you, I won’t be able to enjoy myself if you’re not there.”“Are you nuts? You should go.”“No, really. I’ll just stay with you.”At the end, I was left with no choice but to attend the party with him. My conscience won’t afford to have him not attend it just because I am not there.I mingled and had a short conversation from the other guests from time to time until I saw a familiar man in his white tuxedo intently looking at my direction.“Are you okay?” Fre
Shane's POVA couple of days have passed since Frenzo came, and I still heard nothing from Erwan. We are still seeing each other but not consistent as before, we watch movies, date, play cards and spent times that we could cherish and look back to, but we never once talked about what happened in my office. I thought he was going to open it up the first time we saw each other after that day, but he didn’t. It was like it didn’t really happened. He continued to act like a sweet and clingy boyfriend to me whenever no one was around but he never mentioned anything about Frenzo. Neither one of us wants to have a conversation about him, neither one of us wants to face the reality behind our little fantasy that we could still be happy.“Are you still up?” I checked the sender of the message when I picked up my phone from the bedside table upon hearing its beep. It’s Erwan.“No, sorry, I’m already sleeping.&rdqu
Shane's POVI didn’t notice that a couple of weeks had gone by and there are only limited time for us to continue this affair because I have to face the fact that I am cheating. Sooner or later, I will be left with no choice but to deal with the consequences, but I didn’t expect it to be this soon.I was reading some papers in my office and Erwan suddenly barged into my office for one obvious reason, he missed me. My secretary knew nothing about my relationship with him because the whole company is aware that Frenzo is my boyfriend so I always make sure that the door of my office is locked before I settle down with Erwan who is comfortably sitting on the couch.“Don’t you have a couch at home?” I asked.“I do, but you’re not in my home and I prefer your couch more than mine.”I walked towards my swivel chair and try to focus on reading the papers again. I am used to Erwan’s sudd
SHANE'S POVI took the elevator to my office and silently wished that Erwan wasn’t there. I didn’t expect that he’ll take his words seriously. He told me he’s going to take me back from Frenzo and it’s been messing me up because he keeps on following me everywhere. I remember, back in college, he used to follow me like a dog too but that was because my father asked him to keep an eye on me in order to protect me from danger. Now, it’s too different. There’s no danger anymore and he doesn’t need to keep me safe any longer, but here he is, following me like a dog again.A sigh of relief escaped from me when I didn’t see anyone lurching in my office door. Good.“Good morning ma’am,” my employees greeted me and because I am in a good mood, I nodded and smiled at them.I asked my secretary to prepare a coffee for me and directly head to my office but I stopped right away when I opened the
“Argh!”“Did you invite me here in your office so I can witness how frustrated you are?” Olivia asked and crossed her arms in front of her chest and scrutinize me with her look.I breathed deeply and walked to her, the sound of my red stiletto thumping on the tiles of the floor.“Look, Olivia,” I started.“Yes?” she smiled patiently.“I bumped into Erwan last night.”She raised one of her brows. “You talked to him?”I defensively shook my head and wriggled my hands. “No no, of course, I didn’t mean to talk to him. It’s just… how do I say this? I… I was cornered. Trapped, you know. I was left with no choice but to speak to him.”“I swear it was never my intention to see him,” I added upon seeing the disappointed look on her face.Olivia and Jase became more protective of me since the incident thr
Shane's POVThe guy looks irritated, but he didn’t argue back."Worthless son of a bitch," I mumbled when the guy scurried away.I slowly turned my head to the one who still has his arms wrapped around my waist. His blue eyes never failed to mesmerize me. He is still as divine as ever. He narrowed his eyes and smirked when he caught me staring at his fluffy-looking lips."How long are you going to study my face after claiming that I am your boyfriend?" he chuckled.I abruptly leaped from my seat after realizing what I was doing. I straightened the skirt I was wearing and awkwardly glanced around as if looking for an escape. Gosh. Why did I have to stare at him?"I... I have to go,” I blurted out of embarrassment.“But, wait!” I rushed out of the bar only to realize that he was running after me.“Wait, Shane!” I didn’t pay attention to
