“Rave, Jeanie might not accept you right away, but it’s okay. I’ll convince her,” Sam said, considering only his sister's feelings. It was as if Raven marrying him was a great privilege.

Raven felt like slapping him for his audacity, but she restrained herself. She remembered that her hands were still recovering.

She could not let this scoundrel cause any more damage to her.

Sam mistook her silence for agreement.

“I won’t hold the matter of the child against you, but don’t be so impulsive next time,” he added.

Hearing this, Raven looked up at him sharply.

Just as Sam's heart was softening upon seeing her, he caught a glimpse of hatred in her eyes.
