Since Leon practiced the sage arts, Rodney, like his father, was not too sure of Leon's true extent of power and thus was trying to get Leon to attack first to gauge his power.

"I'd like you to go first so that you might have a fighting chance!" Leon scoffed, putting on a demeanor even more contemptuous than Rodney's.

"Very well then! You asked for this, and since you have a death wish, I'll gladly fulfill you!" Rodney snickered, utterly outraged by how cocky Leon was behaving. Then, without a moment's hesitation, he unleashed a surge of power and sent it barreling Leon's way!

However, since he was just trying to lure Leon into retaliating, he did not put much force into his first attack and did not even employ his secret weapon. Instead, he unleashed a few more attacks in Leon's way, intending to provoke Leon and make him reveal the true extent of his capabilities.
