Shantelle
I stroked the temples of my head to relieve the ache. I couldn't sleep since I'd been conducting a lot of study and testing for Mrs. Thompson.
I knew I wasn't alone in this, but I wanted to do it first-hand.
I've always been like this when I've had new customers or when the client expected me to manage everything on my own.
Star Food has recently received a large number of appointments and bids as a result of our regular customers' recommendation.
That is why we sought out extra researchers to assist us in catering to all of our clientele.
"Remember to eat on schedule and take breaks if you want to continue working. If you didn't, you may become ill again." Aunt Trina's worry was directed at me.
"Thank you, and I'm looking after myself. You should not be concerned. My doctor said that the cancer cells were fully eradicated. Thank you so much for all you've done for us." I kissed Auntie's cheeks and said my goodbyes.
I went to my office and collected all of the documents I required for today's meetings with various customers.
When Cara and I were gone all day, I designated Harry as their leader.
We'd meet with the proprietors of an orphanage, a clubhouse, a hotel, a school staff member, and a few small restaurant owners.
I've been performing this job with Cara for two years, and we've never failed to serve our customers, but it was difficult for someone.
I had no idea why I had thought of him again. I could compare him to whatever my imagination came up with from time to time.
He had occupied my thoughts since the day we met at the pub. I was relieved since it didn't interfere with my job.
Time passed quickly. We had completed meeting with other clients and were on our way to Mr. Wilfredo Smith's place of business.
He was the owner of the Smith Group of Businesses, and we met during a culinary competition in which he was a judge.
Despite the fact that I did not win, he enjoyed my dish.
Apart from Adams Enterprise, his firm was one of the most well-known in Standford, handling various hotel chains and cruise ships.
In Hawaii, he has established eleven magnificent vacation resorts and hotels with casinos.
I was pleased that he would finally be our customer. When I found that he enjoyed my food, we encouraged them, and he ultimately accepted our request.
I didn't anticipate anything from Gavin anymore; I simply wanted to concentrate on this initiative that would provide the Star Food a huge possibility to be recognized.
Someone bumped into me as we were walking to the meeting room. I was fortunate not to injure my foot, but the portfolio I was holding was strewn over the floor.
"Are you all alright, Shantelle?" Cara inquired and assisted me with the documents.
"I'm sorry, I didn't look where I was going," the man apologized as he began to assist me as well.
"It's all right. I didn't notice you either."
He helped me rise up once we finished scooping everything up, and I noticed him reading the papers with such attention and wonder in his eyes.
I feigned a cough to gain his attention, and I'm glad he understood what I meant.
"Sorry for reading it without your consent. By the way, all of your meals are fantastic. And when I saw them, I couldn't help but be intrigued." He said quietly.
His face was flushed from flushing, making him attractive, and he had a sparkling aura that would fascinate anybody.
"Thank you so much. We must go immediately. Please excuse us,” I answered respectfully and offered him a nod.
When we arrived, Mr. Smith and his board of directors welcomed us.
It was logical for them to present today since it would be a critical choice for them. But I'm not going to back down; I'm going to gain their approval no matter what.
"Ms. Clarkson, you never cease to astonish me. Every time I see you, you're becoming better at your job."
Mr. Smith congratulated me on all of my presentations and the questions I was able to answer.
"Thank you very much, Mr. Smith. I'm still giving it my all and attempting to push beyond its limits." I responded.
"I believe everyone was happy with the presentation, and there are no more questions. Then we shall vote to determine whether or not we will approve your firm."
"I want to be considerate, so I let them stay. I was curious what the board of directors thought about your proposition. But, if I had the last say, I would happily accept your proposition." He remarked, which gave me more confidence.
"Okay, everyone. People that advocate having Star Food work with us. Please raise your hands," he was the first to raise his hand, he said.
As everyone raised their hands, I was startled and couldn't help but smile.
"Ms. Clarkson, congratulations. I am excited to collaborate with you.” Everyone applauded and smiled as he stated this.
I approached Mr. Smith and extended my arms, which he welcomed and firmly shook.
We spoke for a few minutes before heading home. I'll come back here tomorrow to sign our contract and discuss our arrangement.
"Dani, how are you? Are you accessible right now? If that's the case, let's eat supper at my place. I've got some fantastic news for everyone."
I informed Dani over the phone and had some lunch delivered to us.
"Cara, come on. We should share our good fortune with them." I had invited her.
"I agree that this is fantastic news for us. Congrats; I know you worked very hard to achieve this." Cara smiled brightly.

I landed in Hawaii in the evening and was escorted to one of Mr. Smith's hotels near the airport by his assistant.
I informed my family last week, immediately after the presentation, that we were linked with the Smith Group of Businesses.
Everyone was pleased for me, and having a large customer that trusted us was a great accomplishment for us.
Cara was the one who informed my colleagues, and I was astonished when I returned to the firm after signing the contract with Mr. Smith.
Next, I traveled to Hawaii's Freelea Island, where I was astounded by the size of Mr. Smith's luxury hotel.
Everything was so sophisticated, and the view was so breathtakingly beautiful, that I nearly believed I wasn't cut out for this type of place.
Even though I didn't have a financial issue, I still had to work hard to get one of these rooms.
My room was large enough to accommodate my whole family. I would make certain that my family will have such an event someday.
After I unloaded my belongings, I changed my clothing in order to meet the personnel I would be working with throughout my time here.
"Good day, everyone! My name is Shantelle Clarkson, and I work for Star Food Company. I'll be in charge of this kitchen for three months before the hotel opens."
I said this while looking at each of them.
"The two ladies here will give me a report, progress, and everything connected to the foods you'll serve," I added, indicating to Irene and Ria, who were standing on each side of me. They were the designated restaurant manager.
"Our team creates the foods you will serve, and you must learn the flavor, presentation, and every detail precisely as I made it so that we can get the same results. Don't be concerned; I'm here to help. Are we on the same page?" I inquired.
"Yes, miss! We all got it," They responded.
I took a few moments to admire how large this kitchen was. Before the hotel opened, I was in charge of five restaurants selling various cuisines.
I went to each eatery, gave them instructions, and introduced myself.
I was astounded by the distinctive architecture and constructions of all the restaurants here, and I couldn't help but smile at the prospect of the Star Food meals being served here.
My feet were hurting, so I decided to take a break and went back to my room to rest.
I don't have any job to complete in the meanwhile, so I could still have a look around before I accomplished what I came here for.
….
Wait, where was I? And what am I doing here?
"Gavin Adams! Stop! Don’t do this to me! Stop this wedding, now!"
I saw myself at the end of the corridor, attempting to derail the wedding. Then I saw Gavin and his bride at the other end.
I raced to my other self and begged her not to spoil their wedding, but she couldn't hear me and proceeded to wreck it.
I wanted her to stop, but she couldn't since it had already occurred.
I saw Gavin glaring at me with fury in his eyes as the bride and her family exited. I turned around to warn myself, but she was nowhere to be seen.
As I turned around, Gavin was already one step away, reaching out for me.
I had no idea how this occurred, but Gavin was immediately clutching me and yanking me out of the hall.
I then saw him reaching for the security guard's rifle. He aimed his revolver at me. He murdered me.
….
As I awoke, I realized the sound I had heard was not from the pistol, but from the door.
I took a deep breath and went through the door. My meal was being delivered by the hotel personnel.
As I looked at the clock, it was already nine o'clock at night.
I didn't realize I'd had a deep sleep instead than just a snooze. I ate my meal and took a bath to clear my head.
It was the first time I had a dream about Gavin or anything scary.
Even if he simply murdered me in my dreams, I became frightened and hoped that it wouldn't happen.
I knew it would be impossible for me to sleep again, so I went for a stroll down the beach.
Tonight was very brilliant owing to its moonlight, and the sea wind was cool yet soothing, which put me at rest.
The ambience of the beach was too lovely to ignore. There were still a lot of people around.
There was a bunch of people who were singing and having a great time. I could see the couples were in their own worlds as they hugged each other, and some didn't worry if passersby saw them making out on this beach.
I came to a halt when I saw a guy propose marriage to his lady, and she enthusiastically agreed.
I want I could be with someone else who would love me eventually, and I hope that day comes soon.
Maybe that soon would be right now? Who can say? Maybe my soulmate is also here, wondering about and discovering his other half, which is me.
I giggled at my ideas, but meeting someone here would be fascinating.
I continued walking and glanced at something that piqued my curiosity, but when I looked back, I was too far away from the motel. I was about to return when someone blocked my path.
I attempted to excuse myself in front of a bunch of guys, but they wouldn't allow me.
"Hi, lovely, are you looking for some company? We have time for you.”
The guy in the center spoke out and attempted to touch my face, but I took a step back.
As you glanced at them, you could tell they were a bunch of perverts. I attempted to see above them, but they obscured my vision as well.
The folks seemed to be a long way away. I didn't want to make a scene, but I would be in danger if I didn't.
"Come on, ladt! We're on our way to the bar as well. You are welcome to join us.” He gripped my arm and urged.
I attempted to fight back, but he was too powerful, and I couldn't get my arm back.
Even though someone was holding me, I sprinted away without thinking, and the other guy was ready to grasp my other arm when someone spoke.
"Are they your buddies, sweetheart? They seem to be near to you," said the guy from behind.
The guy let go of his hold and took a step back. He grabbed my waist and pulled me away from those males.
"We attempted to assist her since she seemed to be lost. We're going now that you've arrived," someone remarked, running away from the opposite.
"Such insipid thinking, they sought to harass a lady, then wag their tails when someone caught them," he stated and despised the perverts.
I moved away from him and bent my head in gratitude.
"Thank you so much for your assistance. I had no idea what to do."
I lifted my head to see who it was, but when I saw his face, my panic returned.
It was Gavin, and he seemed shocked that we had seen each other. But he quickly regained his composure and smiled.
"Well, I believed someone was being harassed, but I suppose I interrupted something," he said, and I had no idea what he meant.
"What do you mean by that?" I inquired vehemently.
"Isn't it for a show, to capture someone's attention? Are those your subordinates? I assumed it was true, but when I found out who it was, I realized it was all a ruse."
I couldn't believe he felt that way, he added.
I couldn't say anything since he was criticizing me. I couldn't say anything without cursing him and crying.
"Thanks for interrupting us. After I was discovered dead, I assumed the show would be over." I walked away from Gavin, saying.
A tear streamed down my cheek, and my whole body trembled at the notion.
I'd never been wounded like this before. Or maybe I was, but not in a humiliating way.
I'd never felt this type of terror before, and I had no idea that Gavin would be the one to deliver it to me today.
"Oh, come on, Ms. Clarkson. What are your plans? I believe you should pay my talent fee. Is it true that I'm a good actor earlier?" He taunted me even more, which irritated me.
All I wanted to do was unwind, but what occurred tonight sapped my energy, and Gavin exacerbated the situation.
GavinI instantly followed her as she turned her back on me. I couldn't help but feel furious with her, even though I noticed a glitter of tears in her eyes. I wanted her to pay for what she had done to me.I thought I'd forgotten everything that had occurred, but as I caught a sight of her, all the anguish I'd gone through surged back, and I was filled with wrath once again.Everything came apart when my beloved Loisa fled our wedding due of that woman. Loisa, like my father, had lost faith in me.…."Loisa! Let's speak about it. Everything is a misconception. I will never, ever cheat on you!" I yelled angrily outside their home."Loisa, please! Please give me a chance. We can go through this together!" I shouted it aloud, but it was her father who confronted me with a pistol."Bastard, get out of here before I murder you! What do you expect when you injure my daughter? To easily forgive you? That’s bullshit!" While pointing the pistol, her father informed me."Please, Dad! It was a
ShantelleGavin obstructed my path and refused to allow me return to my room. So there I was, being dragged to the bar by that dude. It was already late in the evening, so people continued arriving to this pub, and it grew more vibrant and crazy.I wore simply a thin blue dress since I never expected to be drawn by someone I didn't want to see.It was difficult to navigate the mob, and I had no idea where we were heading. My arm had already become red from Gavin's tight grip, as if he was afraid I would be out of sight, but it was real. ‘Fuck this guy! He’s really gone mad!’ I tried to move his hand away, but he wouldn't budge. When he realized it, he grabbed me and pushed me into him. He merely let go of my arm to hug my waist and murmur into my ear."Stop fighting, Ms. Clarkson, you can't get away from me anymore. Never, not even in your dreams. So bear with it!" I couldn't find myself against his words since his voice was so velvety.I've gone to a few bars. I got accustomed to
ShantelleI can’t believe he just did that. That was my, first kiss."How could you?" I shouted, putting my fingers to my mouth.I couldn't imagine it would be my first kiss with that man. I never saw me losing to Gavin. I was not the sort of person who would casually kiss someone, thus I had never been kissed since I didn't even have a partner.“What? That was only a kiss," he laughed as he look into my lips again."Since you are not my lover, you have no right to kiss me. Why in the world would you do that?" I couldn't stop cursing him."Oh, honey. Remember what you said before? We made love for, not only for a night, but more than enough that I couldn’t remember. That’s what you said when you interrupted my wedding, and you even want me to recall what occurred between us," he grinned."Maybe that kiss would help me remember how we made it, right? Did we do it twice or once? I'm sorry, I can't really recall," he added, delighted by our conversation."You already know it was a lie,
ShantelleThe next day, I awoke with puffy eyes and no recollection of when I stopped sobbing or went to sleep. My head hurt, but I had no option but to get up since we had a meeting. I wasn't here for a vacation; I was here to work.I was relieved to hear the clock strike twelve so I wouldn't be late. I stepped in front of the mirror to repair myself, but what drew my eye was the red and swelling kiss mark. I wished we hadn't crossed paths, and I wanted him out of my life.I didn't want to see him today or tomorrow because I didn't want to repeat what occurred last night. I would never agree with him again, no matter what.I sighed as I felt so frustrated.I didn't want to jeopardize my job, so I cleared my head and concentrated on my obligations today.I ate the food that was provided to my room; I didn't have an appetite since I was unwell, but I couldn't help myself. I took a warm bath and soaked for a few minutes. I needed to unwind and get rid of the ideas that were troubling
ShantelleOne of my teams had already polished the French cuisine dishes. So I tasked her with leading and cooking at a restaurant specialized in that style of cuisine. I didn't have to worry since she, too, was a chef, but I did pay her a visit now and again to make sure she was doing a good job of orienting them.Yet those days did not go as planned. Gavin would enter the kitchen and kiss me out of nowhere when he had time. I was relieved that no one had seen us, but I wasn't sure.I wasn't sure whether they were simply ignoring us since Gavin was a recognized Casanova with power, so they didn't bother us at all.I was stressed because of Gavin, not because of my job. He was too daring, caressing me whenever he pleased and kissing me no matter where we were. When Gavin invited me to cook for him a few days ago, I assumed it would be our last meeting. He didn't disturb me after he finished his meal since he needed to do something else. The next day, I didn't see him for the whole
ShantelleUpon waking up, I yawned and stretched my arms. When I glanced outside, it was still dark. I slept late last night just to finish all the revisions regarding the flavors of the dishes according to Mrs. Thompson's wishes. Fortunately, I had already finished revising it, and it was all ready. I'll just send it to Mrs. Thompson later for her to review.Striding over to the mirror, I glanced at myself and suddenly remembered what Irene asked yesterday."Are you in a relationship with Mr. Gavin?" It was more of a statement than a question. Irene witnessed the scene in the kitchen when Gavin suddenly kissed me.And apart from her, Gavin was also seen kissing me on the beach and most of the time in the central kitchen. Most of the staff and workers knew him well. What do I expect? He's Gavin Adams after all, a business partner and a relative of the Smith's.And because I became involved with him, I'm at a loss for words as to how I could explain myself to everyone and deny that
ShantelleAlmost a week had passed in the blink of an eye. And these days, I am often accompanied by Baron. Whenever I made new dishes, he was the one I frequently consulted, asking for ideas about making them more palatable and presentable so the customers would like them.Plus, I told him that some of the food that would be served in the hotel and resort comes from my own recipe. Well, no matter what happens, the business should run and make profits. As I got to know Baron, he wasn't as scary at all. When I secretly observed him, he was kind and gentle - the perfect contrast to Gavin's character. Moreover, he's a funny man and, more importantly, didn't do anything shady just to approach me. Like what he told me before, he doesn't seem interested in me. Nonetheless, we're good friends now.Aside from him, the other cooks consistently avoided me as if I were contagious or possessed with some illness that made them avoid me; otherwise, they'll become sick. I was baffled and perplexe
ShantelleAs I awoke, I saw that my side was already empty. Gavin was nowhere to be found. A faint grin appeared on my lips as I sighed in relief. My smile quickly faded when I heard my phone ring.As I looked over at the desk, I saw that my phone was continually ringing. I sprang out of bed and grabbed it. As I dropped my head to examine the caller ID, the number was unknown.I answered the phone, worried that it was from someone important. "Hello?"I was so frightened that I burst out laughing."It's me, Gavin. Get dressed as soon as possible. We're going on a tour." His tone had returned to his customary authoritative tone.I looked at the time and noticed that it was already three o'clock in the afternoon. When I walk outside, the sun will be searing hot and will burn my skin. With annoyance, I tightened my grasp on the phone."How did you obtain my number?" I questioned, taking a long breath to keep myself calm."Wasn't it self-evident? You had been fast asleep before... So, do
ShantelleI really missed his touch and kisses. Everything about him made me crazy. His fingers inside me made my eyes widen. I felt the pressure slowly building in my abdomen. I knew this feeling... I bit my lip hard, but I couldn't help but call him out. 'I think I'm going to come already.'"Shit! Oh, Gavin! Fuck! Could you not make me scream? Vance might... wake up..." I muttered and gnashed my teeth when I felt something come out of my nether region. I panted heavily, and Gavin just chuckled at me. When he slightly raised his head, the teasing smile on his lips faded, and his expression became sour. "Why?" I looked at him, and he pursed his lips in annoyance. "Tsk. I don't have my condom right now," he said."I thought the earth had fallen. Don't worry, I'm safe today," I laughed mirthfully at his expression. "Are you sure? But having a protruding stomach on our wedding day is not ideal," he frowned. Yes, we weren't married yet, but our wedding was scheduled for four month
ShantelleFor several nights, we were constantly awakened by Vance's cries. He often woke up at night, so we had no choice but to watch over him. He was like a night owl and also woke up early. He was always asleep at noon, so when it darkened, he was still wide awake. Raising a child was challenging but also fulfilling at the same time. "He's still a baby, so obviously, I need to focus on him. You're a grown-up man, so why do you need to compete with a child?" I said while laughing.Gavin snorted, which made me giggle with delight. "Okay, I'll help you feed him," I stopped teasing him, and he smiled. "Sure. Then feed me later too, hmm," Gavin joked. My heart trembled. His suggestive expression seemed like he was referring to something... dirty... Oh, God! Why am I thinking this way? But... It's almost two months since something happened to us, and since then, Gavin has been abstinent. I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Vance's cry. I looked at him and cooed. "Baby Vance~
ShantelleA blinding light stung my eyes as my eyelids fluttered open. However, nothing registered to my mind yet. All I could feel were various movements rushing all around me. "We need to remove the fetus inside her body," said a voice. I blinked and tried to make out what they were saying because I couldn't hear it clearly, as though they were bees buzzing around. My stomach hurt as if someone was slicing it. Tears brimmed through my eyes, which made everything blurry around me. 'Are they doing surgeries on me? Did I lose my baby?'A lump formed in my throat as I tried to understand what the hell was happening around me. I couldn't think straight even though I tried. My heart feels heavy, as if a huge boulder weighed on it. I sniffled. I wanted to ease the heaviness that I was feeling, but I couldn't move. Gavin's figure flashed inside my mind, and it made me weep more. I knew that he would be enraged once he found out that I had a miscarriage. ‘Should I blame him? Or me? Or
Shantelle"Oh, God! Shantelle!" In the midst of my trance, I heard a familiar voice calling me. It belongs to Dani and Cara. They hastily rushed to my side when I glanced at them, and I could see the horror in their expressions. I was relieved to finally see them. When they arrived, they immediately but carefully helped me to stand on my feet. I whimpered in pain with every movement, making me tear up when an intense pain shot through my abdomen. All I could feel was pain. "The guard told us you were fighting with someone, so we went down in a hurry. What happened?" Dani asked, then turned her gaze to Peighton and pointed her finger, "Is she the one?""Damn! Shantelle! You're bleeding! What to do?" Cara cried in alarm as she tried to dust off the dirt on my skirt. When I looked down, to my horror, I saw blood flowing on my legs. As soon as I saw this, I almost passed out on the spot. I could only stare at it blankly. When I lifted my head and looked at my friends' expressions -
ShantelleI swallowed the lump forming in my throat when Peighton finally stood before me. My hand was clenched in a deathly grip as I couldn't help but draw a big breath."It's nice to see you again, Shantelle," Peighton said sardonically and sneered. "Well, I don't feel the same way. Save your breath for the pleasantries, and just tell me why you're here," I spoke candidly. I needed to pretend that I was calm and collected. However, no matter how nervous I was, if she intended to fight, then I won't back down. I have no intention of running away and losing. The smile plastered on her lips faded as her expression contorted for a fleeting moment before her condescending grin returned. "Why treat me so coldly? Aren't you even grateful for what I did for you? Huh?!" she said sarcastically. Seeing that I wasn't reacting to her words, her smile vanished as she darted me a look full of hatred. "Remember? I gave you money that saved your puny life! I felt pity for you. That is why I pa
Shantelle Tears welled up in my eyes again because of his heartfelt words. I didn't know if I deserved all this. I knew that I was neither good nor bad. Nevertheless, I felt that I was given too much. "How about your parents? They're probably angry?" I asked him worriedly. He laughed."They are. After hearing what you'd done, they were furious, and no matter how much I explained, they wouldn't listen. I told them that the past doesn't matter to me anymore because I love you, but they didn't listen.”“I told them to accept our relationship, but as though they were deaf, they wouldn't lend me an ear. But you don't have to worry about that. Maybe after you gave birth and they saw our little angel, they would change their minds.”“They are not getting any younger, and they will surely like our child, especially if he is as handsome as me, don’t you think so?" he said with a laugh. It seems he was not that affected by this matter. "Psh. You're really crazy. Still, I want to apologize to
Shantelle"Thanks, Auntie," I whispered almost inaudibly and teared up again. My tears were akin to a waterfall that had an endless stream. Even now, I am still crying. We stayed in that position for a few more minutes, and Auntie just continued to caress my back. Because of Auntie's words, my mind cleared up, and I gained a little courage. Tomorrow, maybe I'll go back to Gavin's unit and talk it out with him. But for now, I want to sleep. My body felt heavy, and my feet were also hurting. I'll just deal with everything tomorrow. As we snuggled in each other's embrace, we suddenly heard the doorbell ring. I frowned with nervousness. Even though I didn't want to hope, I felt like it was Gavin who was outside. "I'll see who's outside," Auntie Trina said, and I nodded slightly and withdrew from her embrace. She stood up and left. I grew fidgety as I sat on my bed. My heart started to race with anxiety. I reckoned that it was indeed Gavin who was outside. And if he does come, then
ShantelleI didn't want to stay in Gavin's unit for the time being. So I told Baron to drop me off at my house."Thank you," Baron nodded, and his lips parted, seemingly wanting to say something, but in the end, he didn't. Even though he didn't ask, I knew that he was worried. He just sighed and then drove away, and I stood silently in front of the door. I want to unwind... To relieve some discomfort, I was feeling. I wouldn't hide from Gavin, and I didn't have the intention of running away. But for now, I need some space. If Gavin still wants to be with me, despite the truth, then I'll come back. However, if he can't accept me... I can't help it. I can't force him to be with me. After all, I ruined his marriage for the sake of money, and he had the right to be mad at me. And... and I had no face to demand him to accept me. Even though he knew that I was the wedding intruder, he didn't ask the reason why I did that. And until now, I haven't been able to explain myself to him. He
ShantelleI watched Gavin talk to a businessman with a smile on his face. Because of this client, we still couldn't go see his parents. He still had his hand on my waist. Since then, he hasn't let go."I didn't know you were married already," his client told him. He gave me a quick look and a smile. "Well, I can't blame you. She's pretty," he added. My face got red, and I gave the man in front of us a small smile. I'm sure he is already in his thirties. I think he's also married."Right. But Shantelle's not just beautiful. She's just right for me," Gavin said this with a smile. "Anyway, I hope to see you again. Next time, let's talk about business. Let's enjoy the night for now," he said to him in a nice way. The businessman smiled and nodded, and we started to leave.Gavin pulled me away slowly as he talked. He asked with worry, "Are you tired?"We had been at the party for almost an hour and just finished talking to Gavin's clients, friends, and cousins.I replied by shaking my hea
