“Hey mom.” Lydia smiled down at her mom, tears in her eyes. “I paid your bill in full.” That means another month in this facility. I did my part. Now it’s your turn to do yours. You need to get better for me okay.”
Tears started to slowly fall down Lydia’s face and unto her mom’s.
“The doctor told me, there’s no reason for you not to be waking up. She said all of the internal damage has been healed and according to all the charts you’re as healthy as a horse. The neurologist is considering taking you into to check your brain activity again. They’re worried that the internal damage was just too much on your brain waves.”
At this point into the conversation both Lydia and her mom were drenched in tears.
“But I know you’ll prove them wrong mama. You always do.”
Lydia inhaled deeply, wiping her face off and wiling the tears to stop.
“I brought a new book for us to read. It’s one of my favorites.” Lydia said pulling a book out of her bag. “It’s Hybrid Aria, by Jessica Hall. This is the novel has been in print. I’ve read it multiple times online though. I remember how we use to nerd out over Twilight and I thought we could nerd out over this series together too.”
Lydia made herself comfortable on the chair beside her mom’s bed as she started to read the book. She’d just finished the chapter where Aria had first met Reid in the Cafe, when her phone alarm went off.
“Well looks like that’s it for our visit today mom. I have to head into work and do a test. I love you from the moon and back.” Lydia bent down and kissed her moms forehead. “Until next time Mama.”
Lydia hurried out the door before she started crying again, it was tough to see her once cheerful, full of love, spiritual mom, like that. But Lydia couldn’t find it in herself to let her mom go. She just knew her mom would be able to survive this, like she’d survived every other challenge thrown at them.
Lydia quickly hailed a taxi and directed the driver to Mia Novella’s headquarters. She arrived within 15 minutes and threw her last $20 at the driver.
“Hey Mindy,” Lydia smiled at the receptionist.
“Oh Lydia you’re here. Great. It saves me the trouble of calling you. The madame would like you to meet her in her office immediately.”
“Uh… okay.” Lydia said worry creeping into her thoughts. She couldn’t afford to lose this job.
Lydia walked past Mindy’s desk and knocked on Mia’s door.
“Come in,” Mia shouted, not bothering to get up from her desk.
Mia was a beautiful woman. For being in her fifty’s her body was still tight, it was the best that money could afford. Sometimes gentleman callers would request Mia’s services, but she rarely accepted. She often said she’d given up that life when she’d opened up her business.
“Lydia,” Mia stood up starring at Mia like she was her prized possession, donning a smile like the Cheshire Cat.
“Mindy said you wanted to see me?”
Lydia kept her head bowed, she was naturally submissive.
“Yes dear child, now get over here. We have much to discuss.”
Lydia walked over to Mia’s desk and took the seat in front of it.
“I have a job proposal for you, one of society’s elite has requested your services. He specifically asked for you by name. The job is a month long with a possible extension and he wants you solely contracted to him, which means you’ll have to cancel any of your other obligations.”
Lydia sat back and thought for a moment, she liked the idea of only having to be with one man for a month instead of multiple men a day, but she wasn’t sure if this one mama would be able to meet her income requirements.
“What would the pay be?” Lydia asked nervously. She hated discussing money with anyone.
Mia was quiet for a moment before responding. “After the house cut of 60% you’d be making $40,000 a week.”
“A… wa..wa..a week?” Lydia finally stammered out.
“Yes. Our client needs extra secrecy which is why the pay is so high, he also needs someone who doesn’t appear to be an escort, which is why he’s chosen you. You’ll accompany him along with his family as his date to his brothers wedding. Do you agree to this job?”
Lydia was practically jumping up and down with excitement. This would be enough money to pay off the remainder of her mom’s medical debt plus place a hefty down payment on her childhood home.
“Yes, I agree.”
“Good I thought you would.” Mia smiled, passing the contract over to Lydia. “You’ll just need to sign this non disclosure agreement first and then we can go over the details of your client agreement.”
Lydia quickly signed the paperwork and then passed it back to Mia.
“Okay, your client is Drake Whittenberg. He is hiring you on for his brother Sampson’s wedding. Here is your cover story. Read it, memorize it, and live it. Today, you’ll get your STD testing done, and then you’ll also go out for a full body wax and get your brows and lashes done. Then you’ll head to the salon and get a fresh cut and color. You also have a scheduled appointment with the GYN to check your IUD placement. Tomorrow night at 6pm sharp Drake will pick you up and take you to his house. You’ll be staying with him for the entire month. At some point during this time you’ll be boarding a cruise ship, going to Cancun, and witnessing his brother’s wedding ceremony. Drake is paying for VIP status, you’ll give him what he wants, when he wants, however he wants it. Do I make myself clear?”
Lydia hesitated for a moment. She didn’t like the idea of her free will being stripped away, but she needed this money, “Crystal clear.” she replied.
“Good, then sign the paperwork and the Theo will escort your appointments today.” Mia smiled, silently dismissing Lydia.
Lydia signed the papers and then got up and left the office in search of Theo.
When Lydia was first hired on at Mia Novella’s escort services she was a bit intimated by Theo. He was 6ft3 and had short brown wavy locks, and piercing blue eyes, and he looked to be about 250 lbs of pure muscle. He was also covered from head to toe in tattoos. But underneath his rough exterior, Theo was a teddy bear. He was every girl’s dream gay guy. He loved to shop, talk gossip, and he knew how to make a woman feel good about herself. Theo was one of Lydia’s friends and she was happy that Mia had selected him to chauffeur her today. They’d spent most of the afternoon chattering away about Lydia’s newest assignment in between Lydia’s appointment, and Lydia could feel her excitement start to grow, even though she knew nothing about Drake, she was looking forward to an all inclusive vacation, even if she did have to pretend to be the girlfriend of som
Drake was sitting in his office reading his daily reports on his realty property estate, when his secretary paged him over his office intercom. “Mr. Whitman?” “Yes Grace.” “There’s someone in the lobby who’d like to see you, she says she’s your mother?” ‘What the fuck?’ Drake thought to himself. ‘What would my mom be doing here.’‘Umm Mr. Whitman,” Grace said skeptically. “Did you hear me?” “Yes, sorry Grace, please show her in.”
I walked into Mia Novella’s at the building was eerily quiet. Mindy had already gone home for the night and all the lights were turned off except one. Lydia could see the light was on in Mia’s office through the gap in the door. She inhaled deeply before walking to the door, and knocking softly. “Mia,” Lydia called out, “I’m here as requested.” “About time woman,” Mia said pulling Lydia inside her office quickly and shutting the door behind them. Lydia gulped, her breath getting caught in her throat. Standing in front of her was a God of a Man. He was easily 6 ft 4. His fiery red hair was cut into a military style fade, and he had piercing green eyes that a girl could get lost in. His beard which was a
Lydia was stunning. Drake had a hard time concentrating on anything when she was near. He also had the urge to give her anything and everything she wanted. He chuckled at how in awe she was at everything in his own. It was all meaningless and replaceable to Drake, but to Lydia, she seemed captivated by every detail.“Anything you want, it’s yours.” Drake finds himself telling Lydia. Why did I just say that? He ponders to himself. This is suppose to be a business arrangement only. After the tour Drake walks Lydia back into the main living room and goes to the bar grabbing two wine glasses and a bottle of Merlot. Red wines were his favorite and he knew he’d need a glass or two to calm his nerves.
“Tell me about your family? I think it’s important that I know something about them before meeting them, don’t you think?” Lydia asked glancing up at Drake.Drake hesitated and for a moment Lydia didn’t think he was going to open up to her, but to her shock he did. “I have a little brother Sampson, he’s five years younger than me. I remember the day my mother and father brought him home. I was so excited. Mother and father were really busy while I was growing up. Father with the family business and mother with her shopping and luncheons so it was just me and maid Amelia growing up. Amelia tried her best to keep me entertained but she could only do so much. The moment mother and father brought Sampson home I knew I would have a best friend for life.”&
Drake pins Lydia up against the wall, slamming his hands on down besides her arms, pinning her in place. He leans into her and crashes his lips into hers. He slides his knee in between her legs spreading them wider, pushing himself against her. Their tongues battle for dominance, Drake coming out the winner. Drake mouth enters Lydia’s and she sucks on his tongue biting ever so gently. Drake hisses. “Sss, you vixen.” He smiles seductively at her, grinding his hips into her causing her to release a small moan. Drake leans forward again and starts to kiss and suckle on Lydia’s neck, leaving bite marks along the way. Lydia’s hands leave the wall and start roaming over Drake’s body. Her hands trace down his muscular arms and She grabs his hand and brings it up to her mouth and sucks on one of his fingers causing him to let out a low groan. Drake continues to
Lydia awoke the next morning feeling sore and throughly used. As she rose to go to the bathroom Drake pulled her back down into the bed. “Ahhh!” Lydia squealed not expecting Drake to yank her down. “Just a few more minutes,” he yawned sleepily. “Drake, if I stay in this bed any longer I’m going to pee myself.” Lydia pouted trying to wiggle free of his grasps. Reluctantly Drake let her go, and Lydia booked it to the bathroom to use the facilities. ‘What a perfect way to start your morning.’ Lydia thought to herself smiling. Her smile quickly turned to a frown though as
Lydia was a bundle of nerves walking into the restaurant. Drake grabbed her hand and gently rubbed the inside of her palm with his thumb, his was of reassuring her that everything was going to be okay. Drake walked over to the hostess stand. “We’re here for the Whittenberg party.”“Names?” The petite hostess asked not even bothering to look up from her screen.Drake was irritated at her lack of customer service but he tried to remain cool.“Drake, Drake Whittenberg.”The hostess let out a small gasp before looking up.
“How did you get that recording?” Drake asked as he stared down at Lydia. He wasn’t sure if he was feeling jealous at the thought of Lydia contacting one of her own clients, or proud that she finally got the best of Dianne. “I had Martin gather a list of your father’s supporters. Daniels was one of the biggest supporters; knowing what I do about his… err sexual appetite, and what I know of your parents, I knew there was something there. I had Martin contact him and blackmail him into giving me information on Dianne. I was just luckily their little err… quid pro quo happened in his office.” Lydia replied. Drake felt a sense of relief flood through him when he realized Lydia hadn’t in fact contacted Daniels herself, “What were you blackmailing him with?” Drake asked suddenly curious on the dirty deets Lydia had on Daniels. “Well I figured since the world already knows I use to be an escort, I might as well use it to my benefit. I had some rather
“What the hell do you think you’re doing Drake!” Dianne yelled pinning Drake under her glare, not even bothering to acknowledge Lydia’s presence.“A pleasure to see you, as always Dianne.” Lydia responded to Dianne’s hysterics. The hallway stirred to life as Drake’s employees started to leave the conference room, each one pausing as they saw Dianne standing in front of their boss and his fiancée with her arms crossed and a scowl on her face. Drake’s employees knew he had an estranged relationship with his family as Drake had never felt the need to lie to his employees about his life. Aside from his relationship with Lydia, which everyone now knew about, Drake had pretty much been an open book. The lowest paid of the employees, a male named Issac, who worked as a recorder, slid his phone out of his pocket, slyly turning on the video recorder, before positioning his phone in his hand, where the camera could see Dianne, Drake, and Lydia, but no one could se
“DRAKE!” Lydia squealed as he began to kiss down her neck.“What do you say Lyd? Do you want to act out one of my fantasies?” Drake asked his voice taking on a husky tone. “Do we have time?” Lydia asked, clenching her thighs to ease the sudden ache. “If we hurry.” Drake replied, as he began to suck and nip at Lydia’s neck. As Drake’s kisses trailed down to Lydia’s breast, he covered her mouth with his hand, silencing her cries of pleasure. “Shh, we can’t have the staff here us now. They might get jealous, of the extra attention, I’m showing the new employee.” Drake whispered in her ear. “And what is my salary Mr.Whittenberg?” Lydia asked her voice breathless. “That depends on your performance Ms. Hunt.” Drake responded. “And how would you like me to perform?” Lydia asked feigning an innocent expression. “Turn around, lean over the desk and lift your skirt up.” Drake order.“Yes sir.” Ly
“Are you sure you want me to publish this?” Julian asked one more time. “Yes.” Drake and Lydia responded in unison. “It’s a story that will make your career Julian, and it’s a story that needs to be shared. It’s our story, and it’s time the world new the truth.” Lydia responded. “Okay,” Julian said with a sigh, “How about I let you read the draft, and then you can tell me what you think.” Julian responded, still hesitant on posting the article. “I’m sure whatever you’ve written will be fine,” Drake replied, as he handed Julian the original contract that he signed with Lydia, “And here, you can use this a proof that your allegations are true.” Drake had blacked out some parts of the contract, like the amount of money he’d bought Lydia for, and the minor stuff, like Lydia’s body was free use to him, etc. etc. HE didn’t want their story to seem raunchy, but he did want to be as truthful as possible, he didn’t want to leave any wiggle ro
“My mother was loved by many, she was looked up to by many. Her neighbors, her coworkers, the few enough to be called friends, they all could tell what kind of woman my mother was. She was the type of person who would give you the food off of her plate, even though her pantry is bare too. She was the person who would put all of her needs last just to make sure no one else went without. When my mother found out she was pregnant with me, she was given two choices. To get an abortion or to become disowned. Seeing as how I am here today to give this speech at her funeral, we all know my mother chose. Even when her boyfriend abandoned her too. My mother gave up her comfortable lifestyle to protect me, an innocent baby who didn’t have a choice. My mother never once regretted her choice in choosing me. From the minute she opened her eyes until the minute she closed her eyes, my mother brought nothing but happiness and joy into my life. It wasn’t until I was taking care of
It had been a week since Dianne’s phone call and Drake and Lydia still hadn’t found any new information in regards to Amelia’s disappearance. Martin had ran an inquiry on Amelia Kirkpatrick, but nothing came up except a sealed record from right before she’d come to the Whittenberg Manor. Martin was working on getting the record unsealed to see if it would give them a new lead, but unsealing records was a long process and time wasn’t on their hands. Samuel had already called Drake twice inquiring on when he was coming back, he was insistent upon Drake’s return stating he couldn’t get married without his brother beside him. While Samuel sympathized about Drake’s fallout with Lydia, he still felt like Drake should attend his wedding. Drake hated keeping secrets from his brother, but he’d agreed with Lydia that they should keep their reconnection a secret as well as their investigation. Lydia didn’t want the wrong information getting into the wrong hands. She was still positiv
The very next morning after a long night spent making up with Lydia, Drake awoke to a very long very aggressive voicemail from Dianne. “Drake, I found out some very interesting information about your dearest fiancé. I hope this information comes to you as a surprise. I would hate to think that you’d be willing to tarnish the Whittenberg name like this, as well as bring financial burden upon yourself. If you do not meet us in the Bahamas by yourself at the end of the month, then I’ll be forced to play the cards that that slut dealt. There’s no escaping your destiny Drake, you are a Whittenberg, you are heir to the Whittenberg foundation it is time you played the part. I expect once you arrive at the Bahamas that you will go through with your nuptials and marry Jessica. She is willing to dirty her name a little to help with the scandal your little toy is going to cause this family. That’s right Drake, Mommy Dearest found out your dirt
Lydia couldn’t hide the grimace on her face as she read through the report, pushing the papers back towards Drake. “This doesn’t look good for Amelia.” Lydia finally responds after she gets a minute to gather her thoughts. “Marvin has gone to find more evidence. It wasn’t until he was discussing your name change making it easier to hide your identity that I remembered that Amelia had also changed her name. She use to go by Amelia Kirkpatrick. Marvin is following that lead in hopes we can either find where Amelia has been finding out, or find more information on her disappearance.” Drake responds looking down at the papers before him, shuffling through them until he gets to the father’s interview. “Do you believe Amelia killed her mother and possibly her sister?” Lydia asks staring at Drake who’d taken the seat opposite her at his desk. “I…I’m not sure what I believe anymore. I’ve only read the Aunt’s interview. She said the father had more inf
Drake couldn’t control his laughter when he entered into his office. Somehow Grace had managed to cuff Lydia to his off chair and she’d shoved a sock in her mouth. If looks could kill Drake would be a dead man. Lydia looked like she wanted to bury him ten feet under. “Grace,” Drake bellowed between laughter, “Why is Lydia tied up like this?” “Well,” Grace replied looking as innocent as a newborn child, “She kept trying to leave. Obviously she’s someone very important to you if you’re willing to go through all this trouble, so I called in Antonio and he and some of his friends helped me with the situation.” Drake turned his head away from Lydia and starred at Grace, she’d called in a favor with her son. He knew that Antonio ran with a rough crowd and that Grace had had a falling out with her son because of it. But it seemed like their issues had been resolved if he was willing to come and assist her. “Thank you for your assistance today Grace,
