Chapter Fifty-Two

Jessica stood in front of the clerk; a pen in her hand. Lucas had signed his name first and she looked at how easy he did that  not an ounce of hesitation in his hands or eyes. Was he really that desperate? She couldn’t help but think to herself.

He was wearing a midnight suite that fit him to perfection; his ebony hair was back combed just like the first time they’d met and a light stubble giving his chin a rougher edge, Jessica couldn’t deny the feelings stirring in her belly for him.

Despite everything he had done she couldn’t find it in her to hate him, yesterday when he had dropped that bomb on her when the nurse came she thought he would wait until she said yes but he rushed in to make sure Amanda had her surgery covered even before she said the word.
