"I've called all of our friends. No one has seen him." Eryn let us know. "I've called around to other packs and none of them have seen or heard of a new wolf in their territories. They'll keep an eye out for him though." Charles added, placing his large hand on mom's baby bump. "I've called all my contacts and all favors that are due. He was in New York a few days ago, but he checked out already. He was with a group of girls, but none of them said where they were going next." Dad could always be trusted to find out information. He had the largest network of people. All kinds of people, all kinds of species. "That's a start. He always said he wanted to see New York one day." Mom nodded her head. She was thinking hard, biting on the side of her thumb. "How do we find him now? Is there a location spell or something?" I looked at Kaitlyn when I said that. "I tried. He's blocking his presence and keeping himself hidden. Your brother has a lot of magic. A lot of strong magic that I can
"He's really not going to wake up, is he?" Dex said, poking Eric's cheek again. He was astonished by how hard of a sleeper Eric is. "Yeah. Once he's out, he's out." I laughed. "Listen Dex." I paused fidgeting with my fingers. "I'm really sorry I doubted you. I should have known you wouldn't manipulate Eric. He just got so attached so fast. It was stupid of me. Please forgive me." I looked him dead in the eyes letting him know how much I trusted him right now. He stared back at me for a moment. His eyes were intense and at first I wasn't sure what he was going to do. He sighed and looked away. "Yeah. Okay. I forgive you Ember, but on one condition." He had that stupid smirk on his face again. He was back to his flirtatious self now. "Give me a kiss right here." He pointed to his cheek. I gave him a 'you're kidding me' face. I shook my head no. "No way." I whispered to him. "Oh well guess you'll have to live without my forgiveness." He shrugged his shoulders leaning back on the he
We had made it back to the palace without anyone knowing we left. At least that's what I thought until I made it to my room and Toni opened his door. "Why were you with him again? Where were you?" Toni all, but yelled at me. His eyes were that cool silver and my heart froze. "We can find Ash now. Dex took me to see a man who could help." I explained calmly. I was hoping Toni would calm down with that. He growled instead. "What man?" He didn't believe me. "His name is Jaime. His some siren guy." "He took you to see Jaime?" It seems Toni knows that is. "He's fucking dangerous. Ember, what did you give him?" "Nothing bad. Just something he wanted from Lien." He stepped forward, but I took a step back. His eyes hadn't returned to normal and his voice was sounding less like himself. "Toni, let's talk about this in the morning." I wanted him to calm down. I started to go into my room. Before I could close the door fully, Toni pushed it open. He came into my room and his eyes roamed
I woke up in the clinic bed. Mom was moving around the room quickly, grabbing random things she needed. Dex was holding my hand, looking pained. His eyes were pink, like he had been crying. "Good, you're awake." Mom's sweet tone broke my attention away from Dex. "How are you feeling?" I went to speak, but nothing came out. My throat was hurting so bad. It felt raw, like I swallowed shards of glass. "Here." Dex handed me a cup of water. I took a sip, but it stung as it went down. I could feel Talia and Lien slowly healing our wounds. My hip and wrists were bruised and I can only imagine what my neck looks like. "Where's Toni?" I manage to croak out. My voice sounded terrible. "Don't worry about him." Mom sighed as she looked me over. "He's not okay." I tried to explain what I saw, but my throat hurt too much to speak all at once. "Yeah, no kidding." Dex looked down at my throat as if it were physically hurting him to see. I shook my head no."Dark magic." I tried to explain aga
"Hold him down!" Dad yelled to Charles. The wind was blowing hard around us even though we were in a room with a closed door. The darkness was being sucked out, but it was fighting hard. Toni's fist connected with Eryn's eye, but Eryn kept hold of his other hand. Charles grabbed the free hand and held it down. Dex was grabbing one of Toni's legs and Dad was on the other. I had the crystal flat against his chest. "Eryn, try to calm him." Mom called out. Eryn's magic filled the room with a calming aura but it didn't seem to affect Toni. He was sti wriggling around beneath me. He wanted to escape. His eyes were that cool silver letting me know Toni was no longer in control. His teeth were sharp and his claws had extended. "Keep going, Ember!" Dad yelled through the harsh wind. The crystal's center was swirling with darkness, quickly turning it into light. It felt like an eternity, but It seemed like it was almost done. The wind had started to die down and Toni's body had stilled. Hi
Dex stayed true to his word and didn't give Toni or I a moment alone. Mom had me sleep with Eric. I think she was worried for us all and wanted me to be there for Eric. Toni slept in that room alone and Dex slept in a guest room next to Eric's. Eric was still pretty attached to Dex for some reason. I am not sure what Dex did or said to Eric to have such an effect on him. I think it's kind of cute, but also worrisome. Eric really was a worse sleeper than I. I woke up so many times to a heel in the stomach. He kicked, tossed and turned and hogged all the blankets. Eventually, I gave up and slept on the floor. I thought of Ash and our sleepovers. I am so ready to get him back. I hope he hasn't succumbed to his darkness too much. I woke up to a light knock on the door. Mom had stepped in quietly and woke me up. She looked dressed and ready, which made me wonder what time it was? Did I oversleep? I quietly followed her out of the room. We were careful not to wake Eric. "Everyone is her
Ash's hand reached for the crystal. Grandad Artie's hand grabbed Ash's wrist, stopping him from reaching me. He lifted it up and pushed Ash back. Ash let out a low growl and extended his claws. None of us have fully shifted yet. We were all trying to win this without shifting. I can't exactly place the crystal on him as a wolf or dragon. "Now Ash, that's not how we treat our siblings. You're mother has taught you better than that." Grandad was trying to be amusing, but it only added to Ash's irritation. I got up on my feet now. Ash has knocked me on my ass twice now. I, on the other hand, have yet to land a decent punch or kick on him. He wasn't kidding when he said I wouldn't win this one. His fighting skills have improved so much that I would think years have passed, not just a week. I'm going to save him though. Larminiel and Grandpa Stoic made their way to us now. They had gotten by the fire faster than Ash had thought. We all took turns trying to knock Ash down. Grandpa stoic
I had to focus hard as I heard mom yell out in pain again. I wanted to be by her side with our fathers. I am not sure what's going on, but I know I can't look away from Ash. Ash is murderous right now. He's like a cornered rabid animal. He'll do whatever it takes to escape us. We circled one another. I coated my skin with Lien's dragon scales and extended Talia's teeth and claws out. I saw Toni, Gabe, and Peregrine make their way to me from across the beach. They seemed to have finished their fights. Tyler and Tate were tending their injuries, but they had successfully subdued their opponents. It seems these girls were more than just pretty. They all knew how to fight and they were all different species of supernaturals. Ash had surrounded himself well. Mom yelled in pain again. I just wanted this to be over. We need to be by her side. We need to help with Charlie. "Ash, please, look at mom. Something is going on with Charlie. We need to help her. Let me save you, Ash. Come back to
