We had made it back to the palace without anyone knowing we left. At least that's what I thought until I made it to my room and Toni opened his door. "Why were you with him again? Where were you?" I woke up in the clinic bed. Mom was moving around the room quickly, grabbing random things she needed. Dex was holding my hand, looking pained. His eyes were pink, like he had been crying. "Good, you're awake." Mom's sweet tone broke my attention away from Dex. "How are you feeling?" I went to speak, but nothing came out. My throat was hurting so bad. "Hold him down!" Dad yelled to Charles. The wind was blowing hard around us even though we were in a room with a closed door. The darkness was being sucked out, but it was fighting hard. Toni's fist connected with Eryn's eye, but Eryn kept hold of his other hand. Charles grabbed the free hand and held it down. Dex was grabbing one of Toni's legs and Dad was on the other. I had the crystal flat against his chest. "Eryn, try to calm him." Mom called out. Eryn's magic filled the room with a calming aura but it didn't seem to affect Toni. Dex stayed true to his word and didn't give Toni or I a moment alone. Mom had me sleep with Eric. I think she was worried for us all and wanted me to be there for Eric. Toni slept in that room alone and Dex slept in a guest room next to Eric's. Eric was still pretty attached to Dex for some reason. I am not sure what Dex did or said to Eric to have such an effect on him. I think it's kind of cute, but also worrisome. Eric really was a worse sleeper than I. I woke up so many times to a heel in the stomach. He kicked, tossed and turned and hogged all the blankets. Eventually, I gave up and slept on the floor. I thought of Ash and our sleepovers. Ash's hand reached for the crystal. Grandad Artie's hand grabbed Ash's wrist, stopping him from reaching me. He lifted it up and pushed Ash back. Ash let out a low growl and extended his claws. None of us have fully shifted yet. We were all trying to win this without shifting. I can't exactly place the crystal on him as a wolf or dragon. "Now Ash, that's not how we treat our siblings. I had to focus hard as I heard mom yell out in pain again. I wanted to be by her side with our fathers. I am not sure what's going on, but I know I can't look away from Ash. Ash is murderous right now. He's like a cornered rabid animal. He'll do whatever it takes to escape us. We circled one another. I coated my skin with Lien's dragon scales and extended Talia's teeth and claws out. I saw Toni, Gabe, and Peregrine make their way to me from across the beach. They seemed to have finished their fights. Tyler and Tate were tending their injuries, but they had successfully subdued their opponents. It seems these girls were more than just pretty.
