“Thank you so much for accepting my offer Emily, I am looking forward to doing great business with you, you're a really hard working lady, our company needs people like you”, Liam said as he maintained eye contact.

“I am the one who should say thank you, I can never be able to repay the amount of kindness you have shown me, even with my life”.

“You don't need to repay me in any way, it's your hard work and dedication that has enabled you to reach here today, for that you should be proud of yourself”, he said, with a smile across his face.

A radiant smile illuminated my face, “but before I start working, I will need a lot of guidance to know more about how your day to day activities run, I hope you won't mind”, I spoke with a low and serious tone.

“Not at all, my secretary still has a week before she resigns, she can assist you with that, you can start working today so that by the time she leaves you are familiar with everything”

“Today….!”, I exclaimed in surprise.

“Yes, today, do you have any problem with it?”.

“ No.., no…, not at all, i replied, as I shook my head side to side.

“Okay, so I think we can leave now, we are getting late”. he said as he put together papers that were on the table and proceeded to the doorway.

“Leave for where?”, I asked as I tilted my head, confused.

Mr. Liam stood still, he turned his gaze at me and paused for a moment, “Ain't you going to work, we are going at the company”, he said as he raised an eye brow.“ Don't tell me you thought your going to work from here”, he chuckled, a hint of amusement danced in his eyes.

I forced a smile, trying to hide my embarrassment. “I have a request, before we leave”, my tone changed to a more serious one.

“ Okay, go on”, he said as he stood still, eagerly waiting for what I had to say.

“Can I please address you as Sir while at the company, I don't want people talking”, I said as I maintained a calm and gentle tone.

Liam's lips curled upward, a gentle smile that belied his inner amusement, his eyes sparked with mirth as he smiled, accomppanied by a low rumbling chuckle.

He moved closer to me, barely leaving any distance between us, my heart was pounding in my chest like a drum on each step he took closer, “Let them talk”, he said with a soft and low voice as his face lit up with an amused grin.

“Please", I replied, trying to act calm but my heartbeat kept quickening, you could hear the sound of my breath.

He stared at me for a moment, “Okay, as you say”, he said as he turned away and left. I took a deep breath, “ What is wrong with me”, i murmured as I quickly pressed against my chest, feeling the rapid heart beat beneath. I hesitated for a moment before following him.

************

The company's logo came into view, signaling our arrival. As I stepped out of the car, before us stood a skyscraper of monumental proportions. I was awestruck by the buildings massive size, it's towering structure seemed to touch the sky. The building loomed large, exuding power. The company's logo was prominently displayed on the building “Grant Group”, it's magnitude left me speechless.

As we made our entrance into the company, a trail of warm welcomes unfolded before us like a golden carpet, as we walked, the air vibrated with gentle hellos. You could sense the respect people had for him which was evident in the nods, bows, and warm greetings.

******************

“Good morning Sir”, a lady greeted warmly as we entered the office.

“Good morning too, Miss Sofia”, Mr. Liam replied, his tone low and serious as he headed towards the seating area.

“Your welcome to our company Miss Emily”, he said as soon as he sat, shifting his gaze towards me, I noticed a shift in his behavior, his body language took on a more bussiness like quality. He carried himself with greater poise and authority.

“Thank you Sir”, I replied softly.

Miss Sofia moved closer to Mr. Liam's seating area and placed some papers on the table, while maintaining a safe distance. “This is the schedule for today, you have two meetings”, miss Rosa spoke softly, barely above a whisper. She stood still for a moment as Mr. Liam was going through the documents then turned away.

“Miss sofia, this is Miss Emily, she is going to be my new secretary”, Mr. Liam said as she pointed at me.

“Your welcome Miss Emily”, Miss Sofia said as she stared at me.

“Thank you”, I murmured.

“Provide her with a clear understanding of the tasks involved, and the day-to-day responsibilities. Make sure she masters everything before you leave”, Mr. Liam spoke with the weight of authority.

“Okay Sir”, miss Sofia replied.

“Okay you can take her to your office”, Mr. Liam said, his gaze focused on the documents.

Miss Sofia stood still, gazing at Mr. Liam, as if she wanted to say something. Mr. Liam noticed she hasn't moved, he raised his gaze towards miss her. “Yes please”, Mr. Laim spoke, maintaining his gaze at Miss Sofia.

Miss Sofia shot me a glance, then glanced back at Mr. Liam, as if signaling she can't convey the message with me around. Mr. Liam turned his gaze and looked at me. “It's okay, you can say it”, he said.

“Well Sir”, Miss Sofia stammered, then went silent, as if she was unsure of what to say.

“Miss Sofia, what is it?, Mr. Liam asked, anxiously.

“Its about Mum Camilla”, she said, her voice trembling.

Miss Rosa's words ignited a spark within him, he was prompted into action, standing up abruptly. His jaw dropped and his eyes widened in shock.

“What…!, Mr. Liam exclaimed in surprise. He stood still for a moment, clearly shocked, before he pushed back his chair and walked towards Miss Sofia. He turned his gaze towards me, “Would you mind giving us a minute Miss Emily”, he said, with a hint of urgency in his voice.

“Okay Sir”, I said as I turned and moved out of the office. Mr. Liam moved behind me and closed the door as soon as I stepped out. I wasn't familiar with the company area so I didn't go far.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps. It was Harrison. As he walked in, my heart skipped a bit. The atmosphere shifted, like the calm before a storm, He walked up to me. “Ooh Emily, you're done packing already, it’s like you were eagerly waiting for this day, just like me”, he said mockingly. Lost in my own world, I ignored his presence. “Emily, so you hate me already, just yesterday you were begging me to stay and today you're showing an attitude, uhmm….”, he continued mocking. I didn’t give him any attention and proceeded to leave, as I was just about to reach the exit. I stepped back to where Harrison was. “Before I go, I have a favor to ask you, in case you don’t mind”, I said looking straight into his face. “You can go on, as long as it’s not taking you back”, he said with his head held high, and a slight tilt backwards. “I can at least fulfill your last wish, you know i'm not as bad as you think I am”, he smiled with his bottom teeth. “Why did you
