Kristi decided on a white bodysuit with a sheer pink body stocking that Rori wore over the top, followed by a pair of delicate white open toe thin strap heels. Her makeup was simple, shimmer pink eyeshadow and a little mascara was all they put on her before Kristi ran to her room to change. Soon Rori met Kristi and Max in the hall, Kristi was wearing a deep blue satin dress that stopped mid-thigh. It had spaghetti straps and a plunging neckline. Max looked almost normal. He adorned a murky blue t-shirt and tight blue jeans; they weren't skinny jeans, but Max was a muscular man, and it showed in everything he wore. Max offered Rori his free arm as Kristi clasped the other, and Rori looked at Max with an arched eyebrow. “Please Ms. Rori, allow me the honor of escorting not just one but both of the most beautiful ladies on campus to this tree hugger dance off.” Rori laughed s
Rori blinked rapidly until things came into focus but what she saw was not the moss covered uneven ground of the wilderness but smooth gray stone beneath her, suddenly and without warning she felt violently ill and proceeded to vomit all over the floor. Kristi was soon at Rori’s side, and she noticed that her friend looked absolutely petrified by fear and was dripping with sweat. She also had small red droplets all over her face. “Kris,” Rori groaned, “I guess I drank too much, let's just go home.” Rori tried to stand up but fell back to her knees as pain shot from her ankle all the way up her leg. Rori reached down and slid off her heels before grasping the front of her head as even more pain ripped through her temples. “Kris I think someone put something weird in the drinks tonight,” Rori’s voice was horse and crackling as she tried to s
Rori was terrified Kristi was not making any sense at all, she understood her words, but she could not piece them together, “what did she mean this was all real?” Kristi smashed her forehead against Rori’s and began to cry almost uncontrollably, Rori grabbed Kristi’s wrists and tried to pull them away, but Kristi wouldn't let go. “Please... RO I’m so, so, sorry.” Rori pulled her wrists away from her face and noticed that Kristi’s eyes still had a light purple glow to them as she cried. “Kris, what's going on?” was the only thing Rori could squeak out. Her mind was running on overload, she couldn't understand what was going on at all. Before Kristi could answer Rori she glanced behind her with wide eyes, then grabbed Rori by the shoulders, pulling her into a tight hug. “Listen Ro, I’m gonna get my dad. I promise I will help you, please just do what they say, an
The volcano pushed her forward with his staff, and Rori stumbled into the center of the courtyard, falling down next to a pile of what looked like firewood with a large pole in the middle. Rori did not move. She seemed frozen with uncertainty. Her mind was still numb from the amount of information trying to be shoved into it. Then she felt a familiar set of arms, and she peered up to see Kristi and Mason pulling her to her feet. Rori flung her arms around them both sobbing and Kristi hit her knees, “Oh my god, Kristi you, are ok,” Kristi was crying so hard Max had to pick her up off the ground, “what did they do to her Mace, why are you guys here, what is this place?” Rori asked and Mason looked at her with tears in his eyes, followed by an emotion she had never seen from him before, fear.
Murdok did not proceed to comfort Rori, but he also did not move to separate himself from her desperate grasp; he simply snaked his arm out of her grip before placing his hand at the small of her back, ushering her forward once more until she was again standing in front of Arthur, Ezekiel and the others. The yellow-eyed woman was pulling herself to her feet, snarling in Rori’s direction. She launched at Rori like a missile but all of a sudden, was caught in what looked like a giant bubble with her limbs frozen. “Release me witch,” the yellow-eyed woman screamed as Mina walked between her and Rori,“Ezekiel,” Mrs. Scopuli roared “you cannot seriously think you would get away with probing her, she's human, you know her mind could never handle that.” Rori was shaking. She had never heard Mina talk that way. And what the hell was she doing to that wo
Rori felt the cold prick of The Hex’s nails against each of her temples and she inhaled sharply but did not move. She felt the almost sickening pump of calm rush through her, and she sighed almost sleepily. Rori felt a sharp pain pulse through her brain, then another followed by a a burst of color. The pain kept going first in long-drawn-out pulses then in shorter waves, each time more colors would burst and mold. As they moved, they began to form shapes and sounds, and soon Rori could make out people speaking. The shapes morphed into that of Rori’s Mother first, then another figure she really didn't recognize. He was yelling at Alma and Rori’s mom was standing with her head down and her back against a wall crying. The man began to punch the wall next to her before grabbing her wrist and twisting it until she cried out in pain. Rori groaned at the memory, “how coul
Rori was now watching herself get into the bathtub and drift off to sleep. She started to breathe heavily, as her body felt like it was warming up. For some reason The Hex began to move her nails around inside Rori’s skull. “Please, it hurts,” Rori whimpered and tried to pull away, but Kristi was holding her as she cried along with her friend. Suddenly, Kristi fell to the ground, grasping her forearms while she drew ragged breaths. Arthur looked on in complete shock as Rori grabbed The Hex by the shoulders. The two women continued to scream in an agonizing struggle before The Hex finally ripped her fingers out of Rori’s head and the two sank to the ground panting. The Hex reached for Rori, “No!” Kristi screamed, and the obsidian woman hissed, bearing her sickeningly long, thin teeth. Arthur grabbed his daughter and pulled her t
Rori rolled over in her sleep, groaning, the weight of her body felt like lead. “That is definitely the last time I will go to some party with Kristi,'' she thought. Rori nestled around the blankets, she was the perfect temperature underneath them but was pretty sure she would be disturbed by Kristi any minute for breakfast, so she opted out of going back to sleep. Rori stretched her body still covered by heavy blankets when she noticed the bedding smelled heavily of smoked wood and burnt sulfur. “had there been a fire at the party last night?” Rori decided to get up and go to the bathroom, she could still feel one of her shoes on, and that could only mean she also desperately needed a bath. Sitting up, pushing the bedspread from her head, Rori opened her eyes and let them adjust to the stra

Rori’s next morning in the mountain was pleasant as she and Destiny lazily stretched themselves awake before bathing and dressing. Rori looked at the simple outfit Destiny had picked for her and as she drifted off inside her mind the excited young troll began calling her, “Rori… did you hear me,” she asked, and she shook her wild chocolate curls, “I’m sorry Destiny, I was thinking about my--'' Rori choked on the rest of her sentence and Destiny quickly pulled her into a suffocating hug as Rori’s eyes glazed over with tears, “I will get Calder to take me to your house, so we can pick up your stuff if you want,” Rori snapped her head up to look at Destiny while she shook her head and large tears fell from her eyes, “No Destiny, you are in enough trouble as it is just,” Rori paused and exhaled in defeat “I will ask Kristi to grab some of my things, the girl you met last night? We go to school together, and she stays in the room-'' Rori let herself trail
Rori began marching down the dimly lit corridor with her small gold plates in hand while mumbling furiously to herself. Andy floated close behind, wanting to pacify the angry young woman but the small spectrul kept to himself as Rori came to an abrupt halt. She looked around before turning to Andy, “which way?” she asked in a short tone, and Andy simply pointed before floating up in front of her to lead the way. Rori was starting to wonder if Andy was walking her in circles until the young boy stopped and pointed at a closed door. “Tis the young miss room,” he said, and then hung his head. Rori wanted to ask him what was bothering him, but before she could open her mouth Andy spoke, “da masta calls, I be here if ya need jus call and Andy hears.” The moment the words left Andy’s mouth, the child began to fade from sight, so Rori turned with the small plates still held perfectly flat in each hand and realized she
Rori tried to ignore the muffled commotion she could hear echoing through the mountain and chewed her lip as she waited for Andy and Calder to return with her hot chocolate, she offered to accompany them to the kitchen, but Calder insisted on trying to make the liquid confectionary himself and Andy had gone with to make sure the older spectrul didn't mess anything up. Watching the two spectruls fuss over her and each other brought a slight smile to Rori’s face before she heard a roaring commotion once more, but this time it sounded so close her heart skipped a beat, and she ducked under the dinner table as the harmony of electricity ripped through the air. Destiny’s small but vibrant frame appeared in the doorway to the dining hall and as she entered, the sound of minor scuffles under the table brought her attention to the slight woman with a head full of wild hair coiled up in fright. Arthur followed Murdok as closely as he could and arrived at the threshold of chaos moments after his friend, Arthur’s jaw dropped at the sight in front of him. His daughter was holding her twin captive in some kind of a purple tornado of light and water. Andy stood in front of Rori and Destiny as the two girls clutched one another in fear. Max ran to Arthur, “Alpha, I can't make her stop I don't know what to do please… help me” the grown man cried and Arthur shook his head, “I have never seen her do this before, what happened?” he asked and when Max glanced toward Rori Arthur pinched his nose and started strolling slowly into the room. Max tried to go after him, but Murdok set his heavy hand on the distressed werewolf’s shoulder and shook his head, “he will make sure they are safe… he is their father.” Max licked his lips and nodded as Arthur approached the unfolding storm.
As Mina screamed in agony and Kristi fled the room with Max and Mason, Rori watched as Arthur and Murdok made a series of hand gestures at one another before Calder appeared in front of Rori and began ushering her away from the dinner table of unfolding chaos. “Come, my lady, we will check on dessert, come now,” he coaxed, and although she never took her eyes off the trio at the table she followed Calder out into the kitchen. Murdok waited for Calder to escort Rori from the room before he approached the still shuddering and whimpering Mina, “I will heal you witch… but then you will listen and not speak, understood,” the angry dragon barked and Mina merely nodded, offering out her arm. Murdok rolled his eyes as he extended one long thumbnail and pushed it into the center of his wrist until a single bead of blood formed. Mina wasted littl
As Kristi and Max pulled Mason out of into the hall a young spectrul boy appeared, “greetings, 'tis Andy here to serve,” he said in haste and Kristi gave him a short smile “greetings Andy… can you get us some water, and sea salt if you have it?” she asked hopefully when the youthful looking spectrul put his index finger up to his nose and winked, “what if Andy had limestone miss?” The moment the words left the small spectruls lips, Kristi’s eyes lit up. “Limestone would be spectacular Andy, thank you,” she added, and the young boy bowed before disappearing. Kristi and Max pulled Mason upright as Andy misted back into focus. “Come, come,” the spectrul beckoned as he led the trio into a small sitting room. Kristi and Max gently dropped Mason onto a small loveseat and collapsed across from him in armchairs. Max let his head droop between his knees and began rubbi

Rori watched the familiar yellow light and, on instinct, she forced her hands out in front of herself as she felt a sudden rush of heat from above her. Rori looked up in time to see more than ten small flits in a cluster descend upon the table, as the large firefly looking creatures hovered over the surface of the table Arthur, Kristi, and Mason all pushed themselves as far away from their seats as possible, “don't worry I will take care of these pests,” Mina announced and as Rori watched a yellow glowing ball of energy, appear she heard the sound of Andy’s voice behind her, “she aim’n ta git the flits the way she aim’n to break the chain,” he said with desperation behind his small voice and Rori pointed her finger at Mina, but before she could say anything Murdok calmly wiped his mouth with the back of his enormous hand and stood, “ You will leave the beings in this mountain alone witch, they mean
