"Why didn't the instinct to kill take over when you smelled a drifter's scent?" he asked with wide, shocked eyes.

Mallik laughed with glee.

"I learned to control my urge to kill, just like you did. I wanted to become the best, better than you. Do you want to know a secret?" Mallik asked with his eyes shining brightly with maniacal happiness.

Valmore remained quiet, knowing fully well that his opinion doesn't matter to Mallik. He will tell even if his lord doesn't want to listen. Just like Valmore thought, Mallik began, not at all bothered about his lord's dislike.
