After the confrontation with my parents, a few weeks passed. Everything seems to have gotten back to normal after I came back to school. I avoided any problems with Mariah and Holli and also avoided Zander and Alex as well, which wasn’t easy.

Since we couldn’t get away from Liam, Jenifer thought it would be a good idea to stay close to him. He was waiting for me before school or after one of my classes and insisted on walking to each of my classes, which I didn’t mind, and neither did Ari.

The commentary from Ari made me better at controlling my facial expression. She was very sassy and enjoyed being around Liam, from his smell and his sexy voice, to the sparks I would feel when he would accidentally touch me. I wonder if he could feel it as well.

My training began slowly. I would protest every time Jenifer just laughed at me and told me to stop whining, and how she wonders I am an all-powerful dragon which lit a fire within me and Ari growled saying we need to get stronger and show he

Jenifer got to my house. No one was home. My parents explained to me they came clean to my sisters about what happened that night, that we all were shifters, and that they would not be shifting until the magic seal was removed when they were 18 years old. You would guess right, they were unhappy about it and they were upset at me about how I messed up their plans, etc... My mother told me to give them some time and they would come around. It was a significant change because they would come with us when we prepared to leave in a couple of months to a whole other realm, which I was still trying to wrap my mind around. They would start their training for me come future Queen’s guard as my parents did. I was looking forward to meeting my sister, me and Ari had contacted her a few times. We got to know each other a lot more. It was like finding your other half. I grew up with my sister, but never really had that connection with them. My sister’s dragon’s name was Katie. As promised, Liam came by early in the morning. He knocked at the door and my dad answered and led him in to sit in the living room. I don’t know what the conversation was, but my dad would ask 20 questions and give him a hard time.I dashed to get ready, throwing my hair in a bun, putting on a sweatshirt, and wearing leggings. I slip on my tennis shoes. Liam looks very unconformable as I enter the front room after rushing down the stairs. I giggle and he looks up at me and he smiles. God, his smile makes me melt. Ari was purring in satisfaction.I finally tore my eyes away from Liam and gave a smile to my dad, “Good morning Dad, “I said sweetly. He was still scowling at Liam while saying, “Good morning, princes” without taking his eyes off Liam.I kissed his cheek, which brought his attention to me.“Dad, I see you have met my friend Liam. “I responded matter-factly. Liam smiled as he turned to me.“Yes, I was getting to know him, he said.“He came by because we need to talk to you an

I know what you’re thinking. I lied about myself and what I was, but I kept thinking about the women who appeared to me, telling me I needed to protect Zayla.I thought it was the right thing to do because I had a strong feeling that Zayla needed me.Even if I get penalized by the council, Ron suggested he would keep them off my case and not answer any calls from my father.I couldn’t explain why I felt so drawn to her, why I questioned everything I knew, what I had been taught to do, everything that was drummed in me.For a girl, I only knew for a short time, but being next to her seeing her smile, and laugh, oh that laugh is enchanting. The way her eyes lit up when she was happy and how the sparks that erupted when we touched or hugged made me feel things. I didn’t know where possible I was an excellent warrior, always following orders. She wasn’t like those monsters, neither was her family.Alex and Zander went too far in attacking Zayla and her friend. As the week passed, tensions ran high at both my and Zayla’s houses with planning the trip to Cordiva. I have been having such a bad feeling since I heard that voice a couple of weeks ago, so I upped the training. We had combat training along with defensive and even added weapons so that even though Zayla hadn’t shifted yet, she could protect herself.“Now Imagen that you have someone coming at you from a distance, Close your eyes and call on your fire. After you have, it opens your eyes and aims.” I instructed Zalya,She nods in agreement. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, then brings her hand palm out and a moment later a fireball appears hovering above her hand. And dancing to its hypnotic song. Then her eyes snap open and she throws the fireball toward the Mannikin. It hits it with a swoosh, setting it on fire.“Great job you're doing amazingly well!! I was in sheer shock, peering down at Zayla. I was covered in blood, not sure if it was mine or Zayla’s. I had no feeling of pain despite fragments of glass littering my whole body and torn clothes... I focused all my energy on Zayla as fear crept up my spine. Seeing her writhing in pain and screaming every time one of her bones shifted or cracked. Attempting to reshape to create space for her dragon form. I kept my attention on Zayla, as I tried to soothe her with calming energy flowing from my fingertips to settle over her, but to no avail. It wasn’t helping. I needed to get her to her sister quickly before this shift kills her. I gaze up, inspected my surroundings, attempting to find my phone, but I couldn’t find it, not willing to leave Zayla’s side because of the idiots. I turned my attention to Alex, still standing in the same place blankly, like a deer in the headlights. Looking pasted him, I luckily do not see any sign of Zander. but I didn’t want to give myself a chance t

They meticulously prepared me for the moment I would finally meet my twin sister. As I busily organized my belongings in the weeks leading up to our reunion, an intense wave of pain suddenly surged through my body, causing me to double over in agony. Growing up, my guardians had often shared stories about her, filling my mind with vivid images of the sister I had longed to know. Now, the anticipation was palpable, and the prospect of our long-awaited meeting was just within reach. A few weeks ago, I began to feel the awakening of my powers. As the flames blazed to life, I couldn’t help but marvel at their captivating hue—a luminous shade of blue that danced in the air. At that moment, my dragon, Makhlai—though she insists on being called Katie—spoke to me with a fiery sass that only she could muster. I cherish her spirited personality and feel incredibly fortunate to have her beside me. With unwavering dedication, my guardians have taken me under their wings, guiding and training m

As I made my way out to the backyard, I saw a beautiful woman standing in the center of the yard with candles surrounding her in a circle, and her eyes were closed. She had beautiful olive skin and long black hair, and she was wearing a sentinel dress, her hands up in the air chanting something. Maria walked the side of me, grabbed my hand, and gave it a squeeze of reassurance; she was like a mother to me, so to feel like she was keeping something was really from me as a lump formed in my throat. I forced it down. I squeezed her hand back. We will figure it out later; let's move closer; she insisted we would be leaving soon; we moved closer, and I could feel the magic. Katie purred as she felt a familiar calmness wash over her. I looked shocked as I glared at Maria; she chuckled, "It's magic, protection spell of the circle that Rachel created." A few minutes later, Henry joined us with a frown etched on his face. Is everything okay, I asked? He huffed, said yes,, and kept his eyes fo

As Zayla’s mom descended closer to the ground, she opened her wings and seized another demon with her long, sharp black talons. With a swift movement, she tore his head from his body and set his remains ablaze. After pulsing his body away, she went after more enemies, causing much-needed destruction. We advanced on the remaining demons, and as one charged directly at me, I sliced through it, watching it fall to the ground lifeless. I then focused on the dark witch ahead. As I got closer, Jen followed closely behind, taking down two more demons. "I'm going to try to use a standard immobilizing spell, so whatever you're going to do, do it now," she growled. I nodded in response and signaled Zayla's dad just as Jen started chanting. He swept down towards Bella while I approached the dark witch. "You will pay for this!" she shrieked, but she found herself immobilized. I raised my sword and plunged it into her chest. She screamed, and suddenly, she vanished in a cloud of black smoke.

It has been weeks since I lost track of that flying rat with wings and the wannabe fairy. They somehow managed to avoid me, and they ended up capturing Alex. He wasn't the brightest or the toughest soldier, so if they tortured him, he wouldn’t say anything—he better not if he knew what was good for him. I really don't want to eliminate him like I need to do with Liam. Actually, the council wants him brought in for questioning, but I've decided to get rid of him once and for all and blame it on those fire-breathing idiots. That way, no one will question me. My phone rang, and I looked down at it, irritated because it was Henri—the idiot the council put in charge of caring for the other rat with Wings’ sister. He had been undercover for a long time, placed in the queen’s royal council to watch their movements. When the war started, he was assigned babysitting duty. I would have eliminated him long ago if this man had not been the leader's brother. I answered the call, and he sounded

The kiss ignited a brilliant flash of light, and Alex gasped as the curse that had shackled him for so long shattered like glass. That I wasn’t even aware was there. He felt the energy coursing through him, a primal force awakening his true self. The transformation began almost immediately; The ominous cracking and splintering of his bones echoed in his ears, mingling with the harrowing screams that left his lips as his body shimmered like heat rising off the asphalt, stretching and expanding in a mesmerizing transformation. Dark blue and iridescent scales caught the sunlight, sending shimmering reflections dancing across the clearing as he morphed into his majestic dragon form. The air was thick with astonished gasps from the onlookers. "I can't believe it!" Amanda I then heard a clearing of throats. It must be Zayla's Dad as he said, “Well, I guess we need to teach him how to fly, “he said. I nodded my massive head. “How? “ Jenifer finally managed to get out. I just snorted

I shook off the eerie feeling creeping up my spine. My instincts about Liam were right; the anger helped me piece everything together. When Alex told me the truth, I suddenly realized Liam was still chained to the chair. I made my way over and unlocked his chains. As my hands moved over him, I felt a tingling sensation coursing through me. He gasped slightly and turned towards me, his brown eyes looking at me with so much adoration.“Thank you,” he said.“You're welcome,” I replied, starting to back away a little, needing space because of the incredible heat building between us. “We need to make our way upstairs,” I called out, referring to the meeting with my parents, Bella’s, and Zayla’s parents. However, without Liam to help us figure things out, I thought this was the best course of action. I wouldn’t let Zayla and Bella know just yet. Alex agreed reluctantly, and I grabbed his hand as we headed upstairs, tingles shooting straight up our arms. Alex sighed contentedly, which broug

We were all gathered in the dimly lit dining room, a sense of tension hanging in the air as Bella called the meeting to order. Her gaze was serious as she shared the burden of what she had overheard from her mother—the startling news that her mom had been apprehended and was now confined to the basement where Alex was held, waiting for us to decide her fate. Jen spoke up, breaking the heavy silence. “Dad, Layla, I truly feel for what you’re going through, but you must confront the situation with your mate before we face court again. We’ve done everything we can to question him, but he insists that he only speak with you.” I groaned in frustration, burying my head in my hands. A familiar warmth enveloped me as my mom stepped forward to embrace me, her comforting presence a small refuge amidst the chaos. When I glanced at Tim, his eyes met mine, filled with a pained expression that tore at my heart. I knew this was hard for him, but I reminded myself that our safety depended on mak

"Henri, get in here now!" I shouted as I slammed the grimoire I had been looking at shut. Frustrated at the incompetence of my men, I watched as two of them brought in Henry and threw him to the floor. "Get up!" I commanded as he scrambled to his feet, glancing nervously at me. "Remember who you work for," I growled, making him look down. "Where is the girl?" "They're together," he mumbled. "What do you mean they're together? You were supposed to bring me the one you had, not let them be together! You know what happens when they are together!" I yelled. "The two idiots you sent after Zalya screwed up and forced her first shift change. We had to bring them together so they didn't die!" "Are you serious?" I screamed, slamming my hand on the desk and cracking it in two. Henry fell back in fear. "Never mind. We can still get one of them before they reach full power. Get out of my sight and bring me the girl!" I shouted, turning my back to him. "Get out now!" I seethed, making it cl

As the morning sun peeked through the tattered curtains of the cabin window, I covered my head with the duvet and groaned. Zayla cleared her throat. "Bella, it's time to wake up." She giggled as I huffed and rolled onto my back. "I love you, Zayla, but I will not be happy if you don't let me sleep." She giggled some more. "That's not an option. Her parents won't let us.""I brought you some coffee," she said. I suddenly sat straight up in a singsong voice to take the steaming cup from her hands. Taking a big whiff of the delicious heaven in a cup, I took a drink, moaning as the hot liquid hit the back of my throat. "This is good! How did you know how I liked it?" I asked her.She giggled again. "We are twins, remember? I just guessed because this is how I like it." She laughed, "Be sorry to make you get dressed. We have training this morning. It was great to find my other half and connect with yours. Looking at Bella was like looking in a mirror; she resembled me except for her hair, which was black with a bluish tint, and her eyes, which sparkled with a blue hue in her irises like shiny gems. We were having a wonderful time getting to know each other and discovering our likes and dislikes; it seemed we had much in common. Suddenly, a sad thought crossed my mind: we could have had this connection without being separated for so long.Bella stood up and came over, sensing my sadness through our strong twin bond. Now that we had finally met and shifted, she hugged me and whispered in a low voice that only I could hear, "I know how you're feeling because I feel the same way. But at least we have each other now, and we will never be separated again." My heart ached for my best friend; seeing and hearing her pain made me incredibly sad. I wished I could take away all her suffering. As our chanting slowed, I looked over at Zayla and Bella. They lay panting, holding each other's hands as their face started forming now and horns towards the back of her head, and then her amazing black wings unfolded from her size as she made it onto all four legs; she stretched out her wings and let out a massive roar that shook the ground falling behind with her sister Bella was just as massive as a dragon should be. Her scales were solid black but glistened with a blue hue in the moonlight, resembling a beautiful jewel. Both she and Zayla had eyes that shone bright blue and purple.
