6. Aphrodisiac

Frejya’s POV

“Don’t be mindful of him girl, Drogo and Rex are like two peas in a pond. You would think he is married to his dragon. My name is Adam” He stretched his hands to me. “Cousin to the prince. I am sure you already know his name. And you are?” The dragon prince's cousin said behind my ear as we watched Rex walk away from the rest of us. The way he walked oozed royalty, like the ground he walked was grateful.

“Frejya” I replied, stretching my hand to him.

“Freya. . .” He fumbled with it for a minute and continued “I like the sound of your name. Please here” He gestured, directing me to the back of the truck. “You will be riding with the girls. I think that should put you in the midst of people you are familiar with” His cousin is nothing like him. At least this one treats me with courtesy.

“Thank you” I muttered. Of course, he would take his werewolf seriously when they are indeed two peas in a pond.

I have heard stories about Ravkans all my life. Although I had never seen any of them up close or had any reason to be in their vicinity, their legendary stories have preceded them. Weredragons with the heart of gold, they said. And would burn anything to the ground if there is a need for it. But at the same time graceful warriors, loyal too.

I brush off my now scattered hair off my face, I looked back around the field where I had played practice as a kid. And when most of my burden started. I looked back at a pack that I once called my own.

I moved steadily to the truck, Adam helped me up, while I scouted for an empty place to sit. It was obvious with the way the girls were staring at me, that they didn't like the outcome of the selection.

And I was tempted more than ever to use it against them in every way.

“Don’t sit beside me, whore! I saw you pushing yourself on the prince. You deliberately took his attention to yourself with that stunt you pulled” Helen, the head of the council daughter shouted, shooting a deadly stare at me, then at Adam who was waiting for me to settle down before telling the driver to move.

Helen was probably chosen by Adam’s dragon and she does not seem to like it very much. In fact, her body movement screams exactly that.

“Come sit with me, I have a space here” A girl called from opposite me and made way for me. She is Beta. And beautiful too. This was the first time seeing her make a sound since the beginning of the selection.

“Thank you” I sat down comfortably and saw Adam make his way to his own seat at the front of the van.

“You don't have to be afraid of anything. In fact, you are the most fortunate amongst us and you have to use it well. No one would ever look at you and call you an omega again. After your wedding night, you will become a princess” She whispered silently to my ears, her voice sounding like beautiful melodies humming together by a flowing river.

But that was not the only thing that caught my attention, “Marriage? Wedding night?” I asked, my eyes popping up, unable to understand what I was going to do with my life.

“Yes, has nobody taught you these things? Has nobody taught you your duties as a wife? Especially if you get chosen by The dragons?”

“No” I murmured, afraid I would be called inexperienced.

“Oh goodness girl, have you not had any boy want you before?” I thought about Cole, and I would think of him as one.

“No” I replied again.

“Damn girl, you have so much to learn,” she said.

“Leave her alone Didi,” Helen said from where she sat “If she does not have an education, it's because she is dumb! You can't teach someone who is dumb” I can see the hatred in her eyes, directed at me. I looked at Didi, I didn't know what to say to fight for myself, but I knew I didn't want her to leave me alone, I wanted to know everything I need to know to survive if the prince won't take up his own side of the deal.

“If everyone left you to yourself, you would not be educated too, Helen. If you think teaching her is bothering you so much, please ignore us. She is representing our beautiful pack” She finished and faced me again, I looked at Helen but she did the same thing, she was now looking away from Didi and me.

“Thank you” I muttered.

“Always. I will tell you just a little now because we have to be private to discuss these things. But there is something I will give you now. . . “ She said then put her hand inside her small purse.

“Take this” She handed the soft pouch to me and covered it with her hand over mine.

“What is this?” I asked, trying to view what she had put in my hand.

“Hold on, this is not something you should be reckless with”

“Oh okay. Tell me, I am listening” I straightened my ears as if I was just about to be told a secret that would save my whole existence when moments ago, I had wanted to die.

“This will make everything easy for you. . . You just need to make it as tea and drink it. . .” She sounded so serious,

“Okay, what's it?”

“It is tea. Aphrodisiac tea”

“If it's just tea, then why should I be taught? Everyone knows how to make tea these days, especially an omega like me”

“Good then, this will work very well for you” She laughed awkwardly. Her legs shook against the floor of the van, nervously.

“Thank you. I don't have any reason not to believe you right? You would not lie to me?”

“No of course not. Like I said, it's tea and it will help you prepare for your duties. At least it will teach you a lot of things you might be curious about”

“We are here” someone announced from the driver’s side and that distracted me, everyone wanted to know what the Ravkan's territory looks like and it definitely was not what I was expecting.

I expected ruins in places of mansions, or just a large courtyard with little rooms that served as houses, and the dragons would be placed in the middle.

I had expected a thousand dragons, but finding out that only the royal family had one was unbelievable to me. Only the eight to ten dragons that came to our pack were the only dragons they have.

Is this why they said, the were dragons have not been showing up with their dragons? Did they come with their dragons this time because of the prince?

Are the dragons going into extinction?

“Come everyone, the king and queen will be waiting for you”
