85 - Just Like Him

Alaris alerted the Priest immediately and, next the Cave.

They all began their search for Ny'ka and Belladonna.

Alaris headed to the passageway, believing that Ny'ka had someone made it there, taking Belladonna as hostage to ensure her safe journey to her liver, Ka'el.

Although, Ny'ka had claimed that she only ensured Ka'el for her people’s sake and she didn't love him. She had also said that she didn't tell him about the Heir’s presence in the cave, nor did he know where they were hiding - as she had lied to him about their location, everything she had said could easily be lies.

She had probably taken Belladonna, who was with the Life Gem with her, to earn the favor of a place and security with the White King, seeing that now her life was threatened in the Cave.

He had been stupid to let her roam freely, stupid to think that the guards were competent enough to follow his orders to ensure that she kept only to caves while practicing.

He was a fool!

His mind had been so occupied w

He retracted his claw and took a step back. This was a waste of time! He had a war to prepare for. “How did you find me?” She asked, probably wondering if that gem gave him those powers, accessing the obstacle she was against.A path swap was a random ability for her; her Gamama didn't have it, which was surprising. Not many did, though, but for good her Gamama was at channeling; it was indeed surprising. “You are a weak Channeler. I’ve lived with a far better one, you do not hold a candle to her powers.” “Your mother?” He said nothing but headed to the mouth of the cave. “My Gamama’s twin! The one your female killed! She is your family, how can you not grieve her?”Alaris turned to her with a shrug. “I never knew her. She was not my mother, she was no one to me. Even if they looked alike, they weren't the same. I didn't know her. All I know of her is her manipulative ways. She almost killed my friend just because she wanted to live. Her death was well deserved.”He heard her hear

[LYCAN'S REALM]The first thing Aniya noticed when she got to the Wuri Festival was that a lot of females had on veils just like her, with painted scars on their faces. Those with the costume scared others with it, allowing screams to make their way into the banging of the drums, ululating, and singing that filled the air. Oana was displeased with it and she quickly found the tent where the costumes and the face painting were being made. She wanted Eldrick and some guards around to bring the tent down; she wanted the tent owner to be dragged to the dungeon, but Aniya disagreed. She wasn't offended by the act. Instead, she found it hilarious that they would willingly try to be like her to scare others; it was a display of a power she held over them - to command their fear, and by imitating her, they had confirmed that, indeed, she was that powerful. “Let them have their fun,” Aniya had said. Oana had reluctantly given in to her but she led them to another tent to find their costumes

They spent about an hour mingling with the crowd, dancing, and singing. Without them knowing who she actually was, it was easy for Aniya to have company. Soon enough they had to retire from the fun and find food. Eldrick volunteered to go and find them food, and with an excuse from Oana that she would have to go with Aniya to sort out some lady business, they parted ways. The real reason for the excuse was so that Oana could take Aniya to the witch she thought could help her. They didn't want Eldrick to know about it because although Eldrick and Ikrus didn't see eye to eye, if Ikrus was still the Gamma and if he demanded a report of how the festival had gone, Eldrick would have to tell him everything. It would be an undeniable order. Oana had brought her to a small tent; a witch was in front of it, behind a small table, with a globe in her hand as she spoke of telling people their future. She was young and her light purple dress complemented her skin. She stared at them, a smile

When Oana turned to her, she smiled. “She is only joking again. Let’s go.” With that, Aniya pulled her away, praying vehemently in her mind that the witch wouldn't call them back. To move Oana’s mind away from asking her any questions about what the witch had said, Aniya quickly asked her if she was enjoying her time with Eldrick. With a splitting smile, Oana talked about how this was the best Wuri Festival she had ever attended because Eldrick was there.“He is your childhood friend—”“We have known each other since we were young teenagers.” “Do you not think that he is probably just acting the way he is acting to you because you are friends.” “Friends do not press kisses to the back of each other’s hands as he does mine. Our bond is more than friendship, I’m sure of it.” Before Aniya could talk more about that, they bumped right into Eldrick who had been looking for them for a while. His brows were creased with worry and his features only softened when he saw Oana. “I was so

Her thoughts were racing, but her lips remained unmoved.Aniya knew there were many who would want to hurt her; she wasn't loved in this realm. However, since there were so many that had veils on their faces, she had believed that it would be difficult to know that she was the scared mate of the Gamma. So she was convinced that the thief had just turned on her because he got caught. “I will give you all my jewelry; you can have them.” A cold, blunt thing nudged at her neck, and she flinched away instinctively. Then the thief forced a small bottle into her grip. “What you asked for.” The poison?“Roti?”“No.”Of course, he was a Roti. Roti was a woman, she was only thinking that Roti had probably sent him. She wanted to ask more questions but by the time she attempted to, he was gone. The emptiness of the alley returned; this time, she was alone. “Aniya!” She heard someone calling her name, the sound echoing. “Aniya!” Her hand tightened around the bottle and she turned in that

[LYCAN'S REALM]The claws moved swiftly on her arm, the force of the wolf pushing her down. Pain coursed through her body and a loud scream rang from the depth of Aniya's throat. She imagined the worst, while she struggled to reach for the bottle she had tucked away, wondering if pouring it on them would do any damage. She felt it wouldn't, she would drink it instead. It would be better to die that way than to be ripped apart alive; if she was lucky, maybe the poison would contaminate her blood and kill these horrible Lycans, too. However, what happened next was nothing like what she had imagined. One by one, her attackers got pulled into the darkness, their growl of agony filling the air after their disappearance, which then would be followed by a deafening silence. Quickly, the attackers turned on whosoever it was that was pulling them away and killing them. They fought the darkness until there was no one left; until they were nothing but dead wolves littering the ground. It ha

[LYCAN REALM]“He saved my life!” Aniya yelled as they got into the room. Ikrus shut the door behind them, letting her go. She took some steps away from him immediately. “You were in danger,” he said tightly, obviously trying his best to stay calm. “I felt it,” betrayal flashed in his eyes with the next words, “then I felt the pain. I should never have let you go.”“I don't care about this—”His hands cupped her shoulders, making her stand still to look right up at him. “By the Moon, I was losing my mind, worried about you and you had your lips on a stranger’s.”“He is not a stranger, he saved my life,” she tried to pull away from him, feeling those betraying feelings bubbling beneath her skin once again.“You have a mate!”Anger blazed in her veins. She hated this and the feeling of the desire that continued to grow in her despite everything. This wasn't right. She wasn't supposed to keep experiencing heat, she was human.“One I don't want. [DRAGON REALM]They had to wait a day in that cave; it was so agonizing for Alaris to just do nothing. Finally, the passage day was open and immediately they headed for where they believed Tyrek was held captive. Ny'ka had gone first, so there was a high probability that the army would believe that those who had been sent to kill them had eradicated all of them. They wouldn't be expected. While they were on their journey, they found the stranger who had declared the coming of the White King’s army. He was on the ground, dead. He must have been dead for a while and killed from a close rage, too; there was a hole in his heart, one in which a dagger would have been - Nyka’s dagger. That same dagger had made its way into his heart. He balled his fists by his sides, retaining control with the gruesome thoughts of killing her once again. Ny'ka must have taken the now dead stranger along with her to lead the way and tell her everything he knew about the presence of the White King’s arm

A pregnant woman's unwanted friends were swollen feet. Eli would usually help her massage them just as he was doing now. She was reading a book to him and he listened with rapt attention. His paintings adored the room, a piano at one corner, her sewing equipment at another corner with two studies joined to the room.He chuckled at something she read and she rolled her eyes. She had become quite irritable lately, little things would get on her nerves. It was just an interesting change to watch, especially because food was usually the cure, all kinds of food in their weirdest combinations. He had tried one once, it was terrible. She snapped the book shut. “By Ignas, do go on. I take back my laughter.”She seemed to have something else on her mind though. “Do you think I’m fat?”He smiled, “Like I always say, you are not fat, you are just pregnant.”“So you would want me like this?”He chuckled, the sound throaty as he buried his face into the crook of her neck. He moved quickly, she c

Eli and Belladonna had come a long way. After death pays a visit, who would expect a joining ceremony? The trail was only hours ago and everything still felt shocking to Belladonna. She was the Kore and Eli was the right-hand man to the UnderLord. She was no longer a ghost but a High Realm that could move from one realm to another, and grant to only those who deserved it a second chance at life. She was a Kore with no realm of her own but one she must build from scratch. The Fate had dissolved the Kore’s realm after they based their judgment on the previous one. Luna and Ama had promised to help her in all ways they could and Belladonna was grateful for the offer. She was more excited about her ability to move from one realm to another though. She couldn’t wait to see her sister, Arlo, and Alaris even though they might not be able to see her. As Eli had told her, the UnderLord didn’t have a right-hand man for a very long time. Many Thanatos had been trying to acquire the position.

“She passed two tests!” Ama sprung up from her seat., “There must be something—““You are not one of this council,” the Ghost High Being turned to her sharply, “so keep your voice out of the decisions.” Belladonna's eyes widened. Two tests! So Eli—- Ah by Ignas, she had been right. Where was Eli? Why hadn’t they let him come in yet?Ama smirked, “Still holding a grudge, Phosi? I see.”“Passed the two tests? It is obvious that she has failed. The rules are the rules,” The Sea High Being spoke, “she has failed. Pass the judgment, I have places to be.”Failed? Belladonna felt that painful jolt in her heart. What were they even talking about?!The hall seemed to share the same confusion as Belladonna, they whispered amongst one another. “Failed?!” Luna snapped. “How did she fail? It is not her fault that her soul didn’t align——““The rules are the rules! And you are not a part of this Council, stay out of it!” The High Being of the Sea snapped. “End this already,” he said to the Fates,

The days that followed were fast and the training was tedious, Luna helped as much as she could, probably more than any mentor ever would. Life in the Moonrealm was wonderful, but for the things that shattered her peace. After training in the Moonrealm for two moons, Luna had not-so-pleasant news for her. Eli was to undergo a test too, a single test.“He has to fight the UnderLord and defeat him.”“Who will train him?”“The UnderLord.”There was no way the UnderLord would train Eli enough to be able to defeat him. “He chose him to be his master.”Belladonna paused. Eli was definitely plotting something.“Also, the failure of one is the failure of both of you.”Belladonna blinked, the times and the trails were against them but Eli was no fool. He definitely had something planned. ——-——-[TRIAL DAY]The first thing Belladonna saw when she stepped into the hall was a woman on her knees screaming in agony, while three faceless people with the staff in their hands stood around her, the

Preparation“It is believed that holding the title of the Kore is a curse and there is a reason for that. Everyone that becomes the Kore always has a terrible end.” Luna paused as if considering her next words before she finally spoke. “Reincarnation should be beautiful, not filled with so many problems. Reincarnation and second chances, do you not think so, Belladonna?”Belladonna nodded, wanting to know about the Kore already, but instead of continuing with what she had to say, Luna drew a line in thin air, and a floating lightly illuminated map unraveled between them. There were different floating objects on the map, probably to signify places. “For your third test, you must be chosen as an apprenticeship for one of the Realm Lords.”“Chosen?”“It is quite tricky as it is your soul that chooses for you and if the Realm Lord of the one your soul along with thinks you are fit, then you will have passed the third test.”“I don’t understand. Something seems to be missing. What about t

“What?!” Belladonna yelled, grabbing Ama’s wrists tightly with rage. “How could not tell me?!”“How dare you disrespect me?!” Ama snapped her hands away from Belladonna’s grip, fury blazing in her eyes as she started getting bigger, losing the frame she had fitted herself into. Belladonna stayed firm, her anger refusing her to feel fear. How dare they drag Aniya into this? How dare they? If she had known, she wouldn't— By Ignas, she wouldn't have done this!To ruin another’s life for the sake of her happiness? Never! No.Then Ama stopped, looked at the castle, and was back to normal in a flash as if a thought had flashed into her mind to make her reconsider. “I will spare you the wrath of my mate only this once. You will not disrespect me again,” She said firmly but those were words Belladonna couldn't hear. They sounded like echoes in the background. Anger changed into fear, not for her but for Aniya. She fell to her knees and wept. “You must reverse it. Please, I am begging. Ask f

“Eli.” Tears were streaming down her face now. Finally, they could touch but this moment wouldn’t last forever, and they intended to exploit it for as long as they could.“Do you love me, Donna?” His hand cupped the side of her face.“You know I love you.” She slipped her fingers through his hair which had grown longer than she remembered. She had certainly not seen all of the real him when he possessed Jyris’ body. Now, he looked so different. “By Ignas, I do. I love you, Eli.”“And I love you too. No amount of this torture, nor of passage of time will take that away. I grant you the permission to forget me. You need not feel any guilt, it will be the best way of loving me.”Belladonna wiped her tears away. “It is ironic, you begged me to choose you in Gaya’s garden and I did not, and now that I want to choose you, you are begging not to.” The words spilled quickly out of mouth, as they tried to make the best use of their borrowed time.A glimmer of a smile snaked into his eyes. “It

The journey to Eli’s dungeon felt like a repeat of past events, it was like a flash of what had happened after the Red Moon Ritual, a reminder of the time Alaris had led her to his dungeon. She had followed Alaris with worry and love for him in her heart, then she found him in chains and finally, she left his presence betrayed, sad, and a grounded hatred for him.It felt sickening to be in this type of situation again though under different circumstances. She wished it was over, she wished she had seen him and saved him. She heard his voice before she saw him. A shout filled with agony. Her heart clenched with pain as she prepared herself to see the worst. Ama stopped walking and Belladonna who was following her did the same. Why had they stopped? She couldn’t see Eli anywhere, in fact, she could barely see her surroundings; she could still hear his voice though, and that in itself was too painful to bear. What type of torture were they putting him through? Suddenly, the growls of

The next thing Belladonna knew, her blindfold was ripped away from her and she was tossed roughly to the floor, her hands and knees bearing the brunt of the action. She expected pain but that never came. Oh, of course. The room was lit with red dim lights, however for Belladonna who had stayed in the dark for too long, the light felt blinding. The structure of the hall seemed like a throne room but it was of such an intricate design that she had no time to access it, the only thing that caught her eye was the strange, massive, dangling bed-like structure with curtains, connected with a chain to the roof of the hall; she could only assume that, it was too dark to see into the distance above. She rose to her feet and froze when she heard growls and gnashing behind her and she turned to look back, frightened. This beast, she had seen it before. Four-legged with three heads of mighty wild dogs, rough rocky skin with visible maps of the lava contained within. Vicious and ready to kill.
